2025 Charles Schwab Challenge

May 22 – 25, 2025 at Colonial Country Club

Colonial Golf Club

  • An old-fashioned style track
  • Short in length
  • Par 70, 7286 yards
  • But testy in nature, setting an exam of a players’ skills to shape the ball both ways off the tee through the tree-lined fairways.

Creative players thrive at Colonial

Last year’s champion Davis Riley has the look of a course specialist at the track having been 4th two years previous when he threw away a great opportunity to win.  The talented twenty-eight-year-old has always had the reputation of being a natural flusher and shaper of the ball, playing more on ability than many.

One of the ultimate natural golfers of all time, Ben Hogan is sentimentally linked with the golf course, and in recent seasons the modern-day shaper of a golf ball Jordan Spieth has taken that mantle here with a plethora of remarkable course form that has seen him place in the top 10 on eight occasions.

Buckle up and Back Hayden

It appears Hayden Buckley has found his best form at a well-timed juncture of the PGA Tour season, as he returns to Colonial, a track that suits his strengths perfectly.

Having required a visit to Q-School at the end of 2024, after his worst season on the PGA Tour, he managed to win his playing privileges straight back after finishing runner-up.

The one other bright spot in Buckley’s 2024 was his effort here at Colonial when he finished 5th so returning to the same course on the back of his best effort of 2025, a 7th place finish at Myrtle Beach, is the perfect combination for props bets.

Both our picks this week at top sportsbooks are the sort of players suited by this week’s strategic test, and in Hayden Buckley’s case his career best performance was a runner up finish at the 2023 Sony Open, a very similar test of accuracy tee-to-green.  His second-best career effort was 5th at the Heritage Classic, which has always had the strongest of correlation with results here at the Charles Schwab.

The case for Hayden Buckley is a strong one, especially using OddsTrader best sportsbook Bet365 who have an extensive range of prop markets, and the computer picks are for a Top 5 and Top 20 finish for the twenty-nine-year-old from Tennessee.

Golf Pick: Hayden Buckley to Finish Top 5 (+3300) at Bet365

Consider Ben Silverman To Bring Props Profits

The beauty of golf betting is that there are so many prop markets that you can back winners in, and only naive bettors would stick to the main outright markets alone.

Canadian journeyman Ben Silverman is the perfect example of a PGA Tour grinder who is a reliable prop pick, and this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge is a good one to support him.

Once again, for Ben Silverman, we will be selecting the top 20 line at Bet365 while also respecting how the stats reflect that throughout his long career has been one of the quicker starters on the PGA Tour, so the sporting price of (+12500) at the same firm makes appeal.

Prop markets do not end there, as Top Canadian is worth a second look this week, as he only has compatriots MacKenzie Hughes and Adam Svensson to beat to land the Bet365 line of (+300).

Like Buckley, Ben Silverman arrives here on the back of his best performance on the PGA Tour for five months, and it is the perfect time for OddsTrader readers to support him at our recommended sportsbook, Bet365.

Golf Pick: Ben Silverman to Finish Top 20 (+550) at Bet365
