Aston Villa FC vs. Arsenal FC
Saturday, February 18, 2023 – 07:30 AM EST at Villa Park
Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s schedule isn’t becoming any easier after losing to first-place Manchester City last Sunday (3-1); they’ll have to face an Arsenal squad that’s maintained the EPL first position for most of the season.
With two consecutive Premier League defeats, Villa’s top-half aspirations are dwindling as they arrive at Saturday’s meeting with the Gunners three points behind Chelsea and four behind Liverpool.
However, positivity points back to Villa Park since Unai Emery took the manager’s role. This team has now netted in all 11 of their competitive fixtures under the tutelage of the ex-Arsenal and Villareal coach.
Arsenal
Villa wasn’t the only squad to suffer a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Pep Guardiola and company as the Gunners were equaled on EPL points this week as Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, and Erling Haaland made the net ripple to extend their impressive win streak over Arsenal.
Arsenal lost to Everton in what seemed to be a glitch in the system, but the team pitted as the squad to remove Man City’s crown has entered an awkward bout of form and is now winless in their previous three domestic outings.
Despite this form, one point would send the Gunners back into first place before City meet with Forest in the afternoon fixture, and they’re still the best-performing road team this term.
Pick and Prediction
Arsenal has had an excellent season, but despite their countless winning performances, they often struggle to stop the opposition from scoring. Furthermore, Emery will be up for the task of taking on his old team, and the chance of a clean sheet at either end is unlikely.
The visitors can take advantage of a leaky Aston Villa defense, but with the home crowd roaring them on, we should expect both teams to score during this Saturday’s clash.
Over 2.5 goals have been scored in Villa’s previous three home games in all competitions. In addition, they’ve netted at least one goal in 11 consecutive meetings. To add, Arsenal is the second most dangerous strike force in the Premier League; we expect goals at both ends this weekend.

Borussia Dortmund vs. Hertha BSC
Sunday, February 19, 2023 – 11:30 AM EST at Signal Iduna Park
Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund took one step closer to the Champions League final this past Wednesday. They delivered a visiting Chelsea squad a 1-0 defeat and extended their win streak to four successive victories in all competitions.
We shouldn’t, however, pay too much attention to this low-scoring affair, as Dortmund have punished the back netting of teams domestically in recent months – scoring 17 goals in their previous four Bundesliga appearances.
A mere three points separate third-place Dortmund from taking Bayern Munich’s position at the summit, but with a European schedule to contend with and a DFB-Pokal quarter-final ahead, manager Edin Terzic will need to keep his team in check if they are to succeed at claiming any silverware this term.
Hertha BSC
Hertha Berlin managed to claim their first win of 2023 last time out, but a four-game consecutive losing streak before this leaves them on 17 points and inside the relegation zone.
And now, with a trip to Signal Iduna Park, Hertha will likely resume their losing ways as they’ve won just 1 of their last 8 meetings with Dortmund.
Pick and Prediction
The Bundesliga odds, to no surprise, give the home side a pricey set of odds to claim a victory. However, given their recent productivity in front of goal, we can envision at least three goals for Dortmund as they’ll be hoping Bayern falter to gift them an equal standing at the top of the Bundesliga.
Dortmund has netted 13 goals in their previous four home fixtures in all competitions, while Hertha has conceded 14 from their last five. These statistics don’t look good for Sunday’s traveling side, as we anticipate a home win with plenty of goals.
