New Jersey Devils vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Thursday, November 16, 2023 – 07:00 PM ET at PPG Paints Arena

Betting Trends

  • New Jersey are 5-0 in their last 5 games against Pittsburgh.
  • The total has gone over in 6 of New Jersey’s last 7 games against an opponent in the Eastern Conference.
  • Pittsburgh are 1-4 in their last 5 games when playing at home against New Jersey.

NJ Devils Worth Underdog Odds

Despite the NH Devils having gone 1-4 in their previous five games and the Pittsburgh Penguins having gone 5-0, we still like the odds on the Devils to take this road victory and stop the Penguins winning streak.

The Devils are minus their star player Jack Hughes (day-to-day) but we also have to factor in who the Penguins have beaten during their 5-0 run, beating only the LA Kings as underdogs.

The Pick

The sportsbooks are only favoring the Penguins so much because the Devils are on such a bad run at the minute and because they’re on home ice, but we all know the NHL has no bankers, and underdogs often win when we least expect it.

If you gave us an out-of-form New Jersey minus their star player at +125 against this Penguins team (minus Evgeni Malkin by the way) we would consider it a good bet, which is exactly the scenario we are in.

Watch the Devils’ odds drastically drop if Hughes is announced in the lineup. Hughes or not, we like the Devils to live up to their underdog status here and come away with an unlikely win.

NHL Pick: Devils ML (+125) at Bet365

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Thursday, November 16, 2023 – 08:00 PM ET at United Center

Betting Trends

  • Tampa Bay are 8-1 in their last 9 games against Chicago.
  • Chicago are 1-9 in their last 10 games at home.
  • The total has gone over in 5 of Chicago’s last 6 games.

Tampa Bay Needs Win

Who would have thought Tampa Bay’s season would fall apart as quickly as it has done in the previous five games, not only have they gone 1-4 in those five, but they have now failed to score a goal in back-to-back games, losing 5-0 and 4-0 in their previous two games.

These two teams met recently, with Chicago coming away as 5-3 winners, Tampa Bay should be out for revenge, not only because they lost that game as -250 favorites but because they have failed to score in two games (not good).

The Pick

Chicago has done extremely well thus far this season, despite their 5-8 record, they have beaten some strong teams including the Florida Panthers and Las Vegas Golden Knights.

Tonight we are backing Tampa Bay to show up and not only win on the moneyline, but also to cover the -1.5 spread at some nice +125 odds. Prior to Chicago’s 5-3 win over Tampa Bay recently, they previously failed to cover the +1.5 spread in their previous 8 matchups.

NHL Pick: Lightning -1.5 (+125) at Bet365

Florida Panthers vs. Los Angeles Kings

Thursday, November 16, 2023 – 10:30 PM ET at Crypto.com Arena

Betting Trends

  • Adrian Kempe has been the Kings’ top shot taker in the previous two seasons and post-seasons.
  • Kempe leads the Kings this season with the most shots per game with an average of 4.
  • Kempe has averaged 3.1 shots in his previous six meetings against the Florida Panthers.

Kings Star Man to Bring Shooting Gloves

We like this matchup for Adrian Kempe on home ice when facing a Florida team who are playing back-to-back games. The Kings have lost their previous two games, so Kempe will be eager to bring his team back to winning ways tonight.

Kempe has averaged 3.8 shots per game thus far this season on home ice and we like the fact he only managed 3 shots last time out. Kempe rarely goes two games in a row having had less than four shots.

In fact, Kempe has strangely gone over/under his shot total in rotation for the previous 11 games, never going under or over in back-to-back games.

The Pick

We like Kempe to continue this trend, facing a team that is back-to-back and at +100 odds for him to see over 3.5 shots, we believe this to be a strong value and would happily bet Kempe to see 4+ shots down to as low as -120.

NHL Pick: Adrian Kempe Over 3.5 Shots (+100) at Bet365
