Croatia vs. Wales

Saturday, March 25, 2023 – 03:45 PM EDT at Stadion Poljud

Croatia

As the bookmaker’s favorites to top Group D, Croatia will kick start their Euro 2024 Qualifying campaign against one of the most challenging teams in the group, Wales. However, confidence should be high after an incredible World Cup 2022 where they reached the semi-finals and lost to eventual winners Argentina.

The Croatians have won their last five European Championship qualifiers when playing on home soil. And when you look at the bigger picture, this squad is gone 21 games without losing a European qualifier at the Stadion Poljud.

Wales

Wales return to elite level competition following an abysmal World Cup 2022, collecting a mere one point during their 1-1 tie with the USA. Losses to Iran and England before seeing the Dragons finish bottom of their World Cup group as the past magic of Gareth Bale wasn’t present – who has now retired from international competition.

While they haven’t won any of their last eight competitive fixtures, Wales are unbeaten in their last five European Championship qualifiers, albeit with just 1 of their last 5 Euro Qualifier away trips producing three points.

Pick and Prediction

Wales can do a great job of keeping it tight at the back and frustrating teams to make mistakes, and we shouldn’t expect anything else on Saturday. Possession and attacking threats will favor the home team, while the stubbornness of the Welsh defense won’t make goal-scoring a simple task.

For the reasons above, backing the under 2.5 goals feels like the most viable betting position, and with a price of -133, the value isn’t bad either.

Score Prediction: Croatia 1 – Wales 0

Soccer Pick: Under 2.5 Goals (-136) at FanDuel

Spain vs. Norway

Saturday, March 25, 2023 – 03:45 PM EDT at Estadio La Rosaleda

Spain

Playing alongside Cyprus, Georgia, Norway, and Scotland, it’s no surprise that Spain is the heavy betting favorite to top Group A in the Euro 2024 Qualifiers. However, with a newly appointed manager who’s unproven on the international stage and some key squad changes, will La Roja kick-start their qualifying campaign positively?

First up, Norway – the most difficult task from Spain’s Euro 2024 Group A qualifying schedule. Fortunately for the new boss Luis de la Fuente, Norway’s most feared striker – Erling Haaland – isn’t traveling to Spain because of an injury.

While they were embarrassingly eliminated from the Qatar World Cup without playing beyond the group stage, Spain has lost just 2 of their last 15 games in 90 minutes, winning nine of those meetings and drawing four. Furthermore, Spain has won 20 consecutive Euro Qualifying games at home, displaying their formidable presence when defending the fortress.

Norway

Winning just 1 of their last 4 games in all competitions doesn’t bode well for Norway, but they’ve notably netted at least one goal from their last 12 Euro Championship qualifiers. Stale Solbakken’s men could struggle with Haaland in the final third, but they have some noteworthy backups that the Spanish defense may overlook.

Norway met with Spain during the last Euro Qualifiers in 2020 and was defeated 2-1 in Spain before a 1-1 result played back in Norway. Going back further, Spain has won five H2H meetings and looks primed to emulate that trend on Saturday.

Pick and Prediction

A new era is starting for the Spanish, and although the newly arrived manager is untested on the big stage, a group of ultra-talented players is still at his disposal.

Spain shouldn’t struggle to claim all three points on paper, but our betting value is boosted when adding Norway to collect a consolation goal. The home side will start their Euro campaign positively, but not without Norway causing panic momentarily.

Score Prediction: Spain 2 – Norway 1

Soccer Pick: Spain to Win and Both Teams to Score (+220) at Bet365
