Using OddsTrader’s computer picks, we placed tonight’s best bet based on the information generated.

With a big NHL slate of games on today’s board we have been able to narrow down the best value picks based on our computer’s predicted scores.

We are looking at some nice plus money in the Carolina and Philadelphia matchup whilst the St. Louis Blues could be worth laying some juice on home ice.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Thursday, March 09, 2023 – 07:00 PM EST at PNC Arena

Falling Apart for Flyers

A bad trade market and failing to get rid of James Van Riemsdyk on deadline day are just a small piece of this team’s recent downward spiral. They are in free fall in the Eastern Conference as they are now just one win above 14th-placed Montreal.

The Flyers are just 2-8 over their previous ten NHL games and have allowed 5+ goals in those ten games, whilst only scoring 4+ goals on one occasion and have seen 2 or less goals in 70% of their previous 10.

Carolina Getting Stronger

The Carolina Hurricanes have been getting better lately. Not only have they the second-best defense in the NHL allowing only 2.50 goals per game, but their offense has started to click as they have scored 4+ goals in their previous seven games.

On home ice, Carolina has won six of their previous seven, earning themselves two shutouts, and have allowed only seven goals. Excluding the loss, Carolina has allowed just 4 goals in 5 games.

The Hurricanes have accumulated 92 points this season which ranks them as the second-best team in the entire NHL by more than 5 wins.

The Pick

Our computer isn’t messing around here. This is one of the largest winning margins we have seen it predict in recent weeks.

The Hurricanes have no reason to lose this game. The Flyers are not good right now and although shocks and upsets frequently happen across the NHL, this would be a far stretch to see the Flyers coming away as winners in this one.

Realistically, they would need an All-Star performance from their starting goaltender, and even then, it’s unlikely they can score 3+ goals to even stand a chance of winning.

We are happy to lay -1.5 goals on Carolina at plus money here.

Final Score Prediction: Philadelphia Flyers 1 – Carolina Hurricanes 4

NHL Pick: Hurricanes -1.5 (+115) at Bet365

San Jose Sharks vs. St. Louis Blues

Thursday, March 09, 2023 – 08:00 PM EST at Enterprise Center

Sharks Bottom of Pacific Division

The San Jose Sharks have been getting worse in recent weeks and the tanking is very much on right now as they are 2-8 across their previous 10 games as well as only winning 2 of their previous 13 games in regulation.

The Sharks are done for this season. They traded away Timo Meier and are really only left with Erik Karlsson who is sure to be gone by the start of next season. The Sharks allow 3.72 goals against (3rd most in NHL).

Somewhat surprisingly the Sharks do have the 4th best penalty kill in the NHL.

St. Louis Blues Just as Bad

The Blues have also gone 2-8 across their previous 10 NHL games and are in a rapid decline in the Western Conference.

Although the Blues have been a solid proposition this season as they currently only have a -5% ROI on the moneyline, which isn’t bad for a team with an overall record sitting at 27-36. Weak defense and the below-par offense have been the story of this team this season.

The Pick

These teams met just six days ago in San Jose where the St. Louis Blues came away as 6-3 winners on the day. although our computer is predicting a conservative 3-2 victory for the home team tonight.

We are weary of the under as both these teams are ranked amongst the five worst defenses in the league right now having allowed a combined 7.4 goals per game.

The Blues should be able to get the job done for the second time in 10 days against this team and we are happy to lay the -145 on the moneyline. Be weary of the -1.5 PK line as tempting as it is. The Blues aren’t exactly flying right now having gone 0-4 in their last four home games.

Final Score Prediction: San Jose Sharks 2 – St. Louis Blues 3

NHL Pick: Blues ML (-145) at Caesars Sportsbook
