Braden Huff Injury News & Updates

Huff had 21 points (8-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks across 19 minutes off the bench in Friday's 96-58 exhibition victory over Lewis-Clark State.

It was the big men that dominated the evening for Gonzaga, as starter Graham Ike led the way with 24 points in 19 minutes, and Huff followed suit as the team's second-leading scorer. The caliber of competition will rise quickly, but Huff has already shown signs of a breakout after a redshirt season in 2022-23 (he put up 19 in a mid-October team scrimmage). While Ike is presumably ingrained as the starter, Huff will give them an exceptional depth option in the post.

Huff had a game-high 19 points (7-13 FG) to go along with three rebounds and one assist in Gonzaga's Kraziness in the Kennel intrasquad scrimmage on Oct. 7, Zach White of the Gonzaga Bulletin reports.

Huff took a redshirt last season with Drew Timme taking up the bulk of the center minutes, but he's already an accomplished player at the prep level, earning a consensus four-star recruiting rating as well as Mr. Basketball honors in the state of Illinois. While Wyoming transfer Graham Ike is expected to be the starting center for the Zags, he's coming off a season in which he didn't play at all due to a foot injury, and is already dealing with a leg injury that forced him to sit out this scrimmage. That could open the door to a bigger role for Huff, who is already gaining significant praise from his teammates. For example, upperclassman Anton Watson said after the game that "I kind of see a lot of Drew [Timme] in his game." Expecting anywhere near a Timme-like season would be quite the stretch, but Huff should at least be on the fantasy radar for leagues that heavily feature the West Coast Conference.
