Nov 25, 2023
Throws TD in light work
Salter went 4-for-11 for 22 yards and a touchdown against UTEP on Saturday. He also ran 13 times for 76 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Flames ran all over the Miners and led 35-7 heading into the fourth quarter, which likely played a role in these numbers for Salter. Still, it means that the quarterback is still under 2,500 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns, though he is also now also at 899 rushing yards.
Nov 19, 2023
Totals four TDs
Salter went 11-for-16 for 225 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception against UMass on Saturday. He also ran 13 times for 118 yards and two scores, though he lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
You can get away with two turnovers when you total four TDs and run for over 100 yards. This is actually the third time in five games that Salter has rushed for over 100 yards, and with a Conference USA title game in the mix for the Flames, he should end up over 1,000 yards on the ground.
Nov 11, 2023
Keeps rolling
Salter went 13-for-22 for 225 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception against ODU on Saturday. He also ran 11 times for 41 yards and two touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
The interception is only his fourth of the season, and that's compared to 26 passing touchdowns. He's also over 2,000 passing yards and 700 rushing yards now. With the remaining schedule, Liberty should be undefeated headed into bowl season, with Salter the clear star of the show.
Nov 4, 2023
Throws four TDs
Salter went 16-for-25 for 297 yards and four touchdowns against La Tech on Saturday. He also ran six times for 50 yards.
ANALYSIS
Ho hum. Business as usual for Salter, who led the Flames to a 9-0 record, with an easy schedule remaining. He has 23 passing touchdowns against three interceptions, and he is also now up to 664 rushing yards on the season. With a conference title game and a bowl to be added to the schedule, Salter could easily run for 1,000 yards this year.
Oct 25, 2023
Huge game in win
Salter went 10-for-15 for 169 yards and three touchdowns against WKU on Tuesday. He also ran 13 times for 117 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Liberty remains undefeated, and also favored to be undefeated when the season ends. Head coach Jamey Caldwell has worked magic with Salter, turning him into an efficient dual-threat quarterback and a real boon to the fantasy football world.
Oct 17, 2023
Big day on the ground
Salter went 12-for-20 for 140 yards, tow touchdowns, and one interception against MTSU on Tuesday. He also ran 16 times for 160 yards.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Jamey Caldwell loves a quarterback who can run, and Salter now has gone over 500 yards on the ground. His passing yards aren't eye popping, he's been held under 200 yards four times, but his 16 passing scores against three picks stand out for the undefeated Flames.
Oct 11, 2023
Throws two TDs
Salter went 12-for-21 for 177 yards and two touchdowns against JSU on Tuesday. He also ran 10 times for 31 yards and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Salter has lost three fumbles this season, but given that he's run the ball 69 times for 337 yards and six touchdowns, that is an acceptable circumstance. Plus, he has thrown 14 touchdowns against two picks, so Salter is clearly proving careful when it comes to throwing the ball.
Oct 5, 2023
Touchdown two ways
Salter went 11-for-19 for 257 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against Sam Houston on Thursday. He also ran 12 times for 38 yards and a score.
ANALYSIS
This is perhaps Salter's worst game of the season, as it is his lowest rushing total and also his only game without multiple passing scores. However, Sam Houston's defense has adjusted reasonably well to the FBS level, and he once again threw a TD and ran for a TD, his fourth game in a row doing that.
Sep 23, 2023
Totals four TDs with two turnovers
Salter went 11-for-21 for 156 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception against FIU on Saturday. He also ran nine times for 77 yards and two scores, but lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Jamey Caldwell left Coastal Carolina for Liberty, and he has molded Salter into his new Grayson McCall. Sure, it wasn't an efficient day for Salter, but fantasy players will still be happy with this. He has one pick all year, against 11 passing scores, and has rushed for five touchdowns through four games as well.
Sep 16, 2023
Continues hot start to season
Salter went 16-for-26 for 344 yards and five touchdowns against Buffalo on Saturday. He also ran 10 times for 66 yards and a score.
ANALYSIS
Salter isn't the most-efficient quarterback, but with numbers like this that is a minor quibble. He struggled some in his first real action in 2022, but he looks like a new player in 2023. Salter already has nine passing touchdowns and three rushing scores, with only one turnover to his name.
Sep 9, 2023
Tallies four TDs
Salter went 15-for-25 for 276 yards and two touchdowns against NMSU on Saturday. He also ran nine times for 43 yards and two touchdowns, though he lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Hey, when you total four touchdowns, including two with your legs, you can get away with fumbling once in a win. Salter had some struggles in eight appearances last season, but to start 2023, he looks like a legitimate FBS starting quarterback, and fantasy players should take note.
Sep 3, 2023
Throws two TDs
Salter went 11-for-20 for 143 yards and two touchdowns against BGSU on Saturday. He also rushed 19 times for 82 yards.
ANALYSIS
Salter was not named the starter until late, but he made every pass attempt for the Flames. Only completing 11 passes isn't great, but he threw two touchdowns, and ran for 82 yards, so he did nothing to loss his hold on the gig.
Sep 2, 2023
Drawing start Saturday
Salter will start the season opener against Bowling Green, ASeaofRed.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter was listed as a co-starter on the opening depth chart alongside Jonathan Bennett and Trey Lowe, but it appears he's earned the right to get the first look under center. Salter has high-upside capability as a dual-threat quarterback, rushing for 285 yards and two touchdowns in his eight appearances last season.
Aug 28, 2023
Co-starter for season opener
Salter is listed as a co-starter alongside Johnathan Bennett for Saturday's opener against Bowling Green.
ANALYSIS
Salter's battle to claim the starting spot in 2023 will continue into the season as he and Johnathan Bennett are expected to see action Week 1. The 6-foot-1 sophomore appeared in eight games with Liberty last season, totaling 1,088 passing yards (87-of-149), eight touchdowns and five interceptions. Both Salter and Bennett saw numerous opportunities last season, so the coaching staff might not be opposed to utilizing both guys throughout the season.
Dec 22, 2022
Dominates Flames stats in bowl loss
Salter finished with 147 of the Liberty's 253 total yards in the 21-19 loss to Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 20.
ANALYSIS
The freshman signal-caller had more impact on the ground with 10 attempts for 63 yards while completing 12-of-20 pass attempts for only 84 yards in the air and a touchdown. It wasn't known until the first offensive play who would be under center for Liberty in the bowl game. Salter was always considered the future quarterback for the Flames under former head coach Hugh Freeze. Salter could be considered the favorite for the starting job in 2023, but with new head coach, Jamey Chadwell, nothing is set in stone.
Dec 20, 2022
Starting bowl game
Salter is starting at quarterback against Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl on Tuesday, ASeaofRed.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The freshman signal-caller didn't start the final two games of the regular season but saw the most snaps in Liberty's quarterback rotation, and he'll receive the nod for the bowl matchup, though it's unclear if Johnathan Bennett will also rotate in for some reps. Salter has completed 75 of 129 passes for 1,002 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions this year, and he also has 59 carries for 227 yards and two more scores.
Nov 23, 2022
Gets most snaps in defeat
Salter got the most of what appears to be a quarterback rotation as he completed 12-of-18 pass attempts for 119 yards while also carrying the ball 10 times for 23 yards in the 23-22 loss to Virginia Tech on Nov. 19.
ANALYSIS
Salter, who returned the previous week against Connecticut after missing time because of ankle surgery in October, appears to have the arrow pointing up when the Flames take on New Mexico State on Nov. 26. In Salter's absence Johnathan Bennett had played well at times, but the future is in Salter's hand. Either though could start under center against New Mexico State.
Nov 12, 2022
Active Saturday
Salter (ankle) ASeaofRed.com of four quarterbacks who will be active for LIberty'd game versus Uconn,
ANALYSIS
Salter may still be limited or not play at all in this game as its first game he's active in over a month. If Salter does get his normal playing time, he should see around 20 pass attempts.
Nov 3, 2022
Unlikely to play Saturday
Liberty coach Hugh Freeze said Thursday that Salter (ankle) is not quite ready to return for Saturday's game versus Arkansas, ASeaofRed.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter will likely miss four consecutive games after undergoing ankle surgery in early October. The redshirt freshman has completed 50-of-91 passes for 776 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions to go along with 41 rushes for 211 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Oct 15, 2022
Out again Saturday
Salter (ankle) will not play during Saturday's game against Garner Webb, according to ASeaofRed.com.
ANALYSIS
Salter will miss this Week 7 contest after undergoing ankle surgery last week, and his timeline for a return is still up in the air. As a result, junior Johnathan Bennett, who went 9-of-18 passing for 183 yards and two touchdowns last week against UMass, will start once again for Liberty.
Oct 11, 2022
Undergoes surgery
Coach Hugh Freeze said that Salter underwent ankle surgery last week and there is no timetable for his return, ASeaofRed.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter has been out the last few weeks with the ankle injury. The team ultimately decided that opting for surgery was the best option. The prospects of Salter being able to return this season don't look great at this point. Johnathan Bennett will continue to start.
Oct 8, 2022
Out Saturday
Salter (ankle) did not travel with the team to Saturday's game versus UMass, ASeaofRed.com.
ANALYSIS
Salter was removed from Liberty's win against Old Dominon after missing the previous game versus Akron due to an ankle injury. With Salter out, Jonathan Bennett is in line to start at quarterback Saturday.
Oct 5, 2022
Removed late in win over Monarchs
Salter, who missed the previous game against Akron with an ankle injury, was removed late in Saturday's 38-24 Liberty win at Old Dominion.

Warming up for Saturday's game
Salter (ankle) is warming up for Saturday's game against Old Dominion, ASeaofRed.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter returning from an ankle injury would be a significant boost for Liberty's offense that is already missing opening week starter, Charlie Brewer. The redshirt freshman Salter suffered an ankle injury and did not play against Akron. His participation in warmups means he could play, and Johnathan Bennett would likely revert to a backup role if that's the case.
Oct 1, 2022
Hopeful for Saturday return
Salter (groin) could play Saturday against Old Dominion, A Sea of Red reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter practiced with no limitations during the week, which bodes well for his status going into Week 5. Jonathan Bennett would likely be the next man up if Salter is ultimately unavailable, however.
Sep 24, 2022
Not warming up Saturday
Salter (ankle) was not warming up ahead of Saturday's matchup with Wyoming, ASeaofRed.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter was expected to miss Saturday's game and that has come true. Jonathan Bennett is in line to start for Liberty at quarterback.
Sep 21, 2022
Unlikely to play versus Akron
Salter (ankle) is unlikely to play in Saturday's matchup with Wyoming, ASeaofRed.com reports
ANALYSIS
Salter has completed 40-of-72 passes for 606 yards and four touchdowns to go along with three interceptions in three games this season. With Salter likely out, Jonathan Bennett will likely start for Liberty.
Sep 5, 2022
Takes over in 4OT win
Salter, the third Liberty quarterback on the day, completed a two-point conversion with a pass to Demario Douglass in the fourth overtime to guide the Flames to a 29-27 win at Southern Mississippi on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Salter replaced backup quarterback Johnathan Bennett early in the fourth quarter. Bennett came in for starting quarterback Charlie Brewer who fractured his thumb and will be out 5-8 weeks. Salter completed 8 of 13 attempts for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Salter should get the start on Saturday, Sept. 10 against the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
Aug 25, 2021
Eligible to suit up
Salter has gained eligibility ahead of the 2021 season, per a post on his personal Twitter page.
ANALYSIS
Salter landed at Liberty after being dismissed from Tennessee after a marijuana possession charge in late June. Considering his highly-touted status as a recruit, it seems likely he would be the next man up for the Flames should Malik Willis miss some time. Salter also could be next in line to take the starting job when Willis leaves.

Finds home at Liberty
Salter committed to Liberty on Monday, joining the program as a transfer from Tennessee, Matt Zenitz of On3.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rated as a four-star recruit by most services, Salter was one of the top prospects in Tennessee's 2021 signing class, but he never made it to training camp with the Volunteers after he was dismissed by the program following two violations of team rules this spring. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound signal-caller was in the portal for about three weeks before landing at Liberty, where he's already enrolled ahead of the fall semester. With Malik Willis entrenched as the Flames' starter heading into 2021 on the heels of a brilliant 2020 campaign, Salter likely won't challenge for meaningful reps as a true freshman, but he could be Liberty's heir apparent at the position if Willis moves on to the professional ranks in 2022.

Entering transfer portal
Salter entered the transfer portal Saturday morning after he was dismissed from Tennessee following his arrest for marijuana possession last weekend, Patrick Brown of 247sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter had a quick and unwelcomed stint with the Volunteers. He joined the program as an early enrollee in January and was suspended in early March only to be reinstated before summer workouts at the end of May. His second offense led him to be dismissed from the team which will certainly impact the future of the program. Salter was a four-star prospect in the 2021 class and was seen as a significant signing for the Volunteers, a team that has struggled with finding good quarterbacks over the years. He'll have four years of eligibility remaining at wherever he goes next.
Jun 24, 2021
Dismissed by Vols
A Tennessee official said Thursday that Salter has been dismissed from the program following his arrest for marijuana possession over the weekend, Patrick Brown of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter's arrest came just a few weeks after he was reinstated by the program after he had been suspended for more than two months due to his involvement in an unspecified off-field incident in a campus residence hall back in the spring. The true freshman quarterback -- who was widely touted as one of the Volunteers' top recruits in the 2021 cycle -- will now look to find a home elsewhere before the start of the upcoming season. Salter will retain four years of eligibility at his next school.
Jun 1, 2021
Back from suspension
Salter has moved past his suspension for the start of summer workouts, Patrick Brown of 247Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Salter, an early enrollee, was suspended for spring practice due to his involvement in a misdemeanor drug charge back in March. It appears he's done what's necessary to get back in the good graces of the coaching staff and could be a factor in the quarterback race down the road.
