Enters transfer portal
Montgomery announced Monday that he will enter the NCAA transfer portal.
ANALYSIS
Montgomery will seek a fresh start at a new program after two season with the Bearcats. The 5-foot-11 running back carried the ball 66 times for 428 yards and three touchdowns this season. He finishes his tenure at Cincinnati with 80 carries for 548 yards and four touchdowns.

Six carries, no touchdowns
Montgomery (lower body) logged six carries for 16 yards during Cincinnati's 28-26 defeat Saturday against Central Florida.
ANALYSIS
Montgomery did not have to sit out any games because of the lower-body injury he suffered during Cincinnati's previous game. The running back logged fewer than 10 carries across two of his last three games. But during the first two matchups of that three-game stretch, he recorded a touchdown both times. Montgomery was unable to continue said TD streak Saturday.

Likely to play Saturday
Montgomery (lower body) is expected to play in Saturday's game versus Central Florida, Cincy on the Prowl reports.
ANALYSIS
Montgomery suffered a lower body injury last week but is expected to suit up Saturday. The redshirt sophomore has tallied 51 carries for 357 yards and three touchdowns across his eight appearances this season.

Hurt in Saturday's loss
Montgomery (lower body) ran for 90 yards and a touchdown before suffering an injury in a loss to Oklahoma State, Keegan Nickoson of 247Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Montgomery ran for 90 yards on just eight carries before he was forced out of the game by a lower-body injury late in the first half. Corey Kiner and Ryan Montgomery would see extended workloads if the sophomore Montgomery is forced to miss time.

TD in back-to-back games
Montgomery compiled eight carries for 90 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 45-13 loss against Oklahoma State.
ANALYSIS
Montgomery is on fire with three touchdowns and 193 rushing yards over his last two games. It's surprising when you consider he's only had 18 carries in those games. Corey Kiner has received double-digit carries in all eight games this season, so Cincinnati still sees him as the primary runner in the backfield. With UCF up next, both Kiner and Montgomery could have big weeks as the Knights have the worst rush defense in the conference.

Big performance in reserve role
Montgomery had 10 rushes for 103 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 32-29 loss to Baylor.
ANALYSIS
Montgomery was able to notch his first 100-yard rushing game of the year and his first career game with multiple scores. Impressive considering that starting RB Corey Kiner also had an impactful performance with 15 carries for 129 yards. It was just the second time this season that Montgomery has received double-digit carries. If he keeps running like this, he'll see an uptick in carries which could happen as early as next week at Oklahoma State.

Remains in game
Montgomery remains in Saturday's game against Arkansas, Justin Williams of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Montgomery has played a depth role to begin Saturday's matchup and could see an increased role since Ryan Montgomery (undisclosed) has been ruled out for the remainder of the game. The former should also handle more work in the backfield if the latter is unavailable next week against Kennesaw State.

Won't return Saturday
Montgomery has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's game against Arkansas due to an undisclosed injury, Justin Williams of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Montgomery rushed three times for four yards during Saturday's matchup but was ruled out for the game midway through the third quarter. It's not yet clear what injury he's dealing with, and his status for next week's game against Kennesaw State remains to be seen.

Gets majority of first team reps
Montgomery has been getting most of the first team reps, TheAthletic.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Ryan Montgomery and Corey Kiner both limited by minor injuries, Montgomery has been the top running back in practice. Charles McClelland has been taking some of the first team reps alongside him, but it looks like Montgomery may have earned a larger role in the 2022 season.
