Nice outing in relief
McCown was 18-for-20 passing for 170 yards, two touchdowns and one interception during Saturday's 45-14 defeat versus Tennessee. He also had six rushes for two yards.
ANALYSIS
McCown saw his first action as a Roadrunner Saturday as he took over the offense in the second half with his team down 31-0. He led back-to-back scoring drives capped off by two touchdown passes versus the ranked Volunteers. Regular starter Frank Harris has missed the last two games with a toe injury, but after a bye week he may finally be ready to get back on the field field Oct. 7 at Temple which would put McCown back into the third string slot.

Will be game-time decision
Coach Mike Stanford said McCown (undisclosed) was a limited participant during Tuesday's practice and will be a game-time decision ahead of Saturday's matchup against Oregon State, Adam Munsterteiger of BuffStampede.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The extent of McCown's injury remains unclear, but if he's forced to sit out Saturday, expect J.T. Shrout to draw the start at quarterback. McCown has started the previous four games, completing 57.0 percent of his passes for 600 yards, two touchdown and two interceptions.

Leads team in upset
McCown completed 13 of 21 passes for 104 yards during Saturday's 20-13 overtime victory versus the California.
ANALYSIS
Saturday's win over Cal was a great boost for a program that had a dim outlook to begin the season and even worse results. At the forefront was difficulty in procuring a serviceable quarterback, and thanks to this win, it appears McCown will earn the starts under center moving forward.

Starting against UCLA
McCown will start at quarterback during Saturday's game against UCLA, Brian Howell of the Boulder Daily Camera reports.
ANALYSIS
McCown took most of the first-team reps during practice this week, and the true freshman will serve as the Buffaloes' third starting quarterback over the first four weeks of the season. Given the fluidity under center early in the year, it wouldn't be surprising to see Colorado go back to an option like J.T. Shrout or Brendon Lewis if McCown struggles.
