Not starting Saturday
Brendan Sorsby will get the start for Indiana on Saturday against Rutgers with Jackson retreating to a backup role, Zach Osterman of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
It'd been a struggle for Jackson of late, throwing for just 355 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions over his last three games. The redshirt freshman will head to the bench with Brendan Sorsby, also a redshirt freshman, getting the start against Rutgers.

Crushed in lopsided matchup
Jackson was 7-for-13 passing for 52 yards and two interceptions during Saturday's 52-7 defeat against Michigan.
ANALYSIS
Jackson was the most recent Big Ten quarterback to suffer at the hands of the Wolverines' dominant defense. The Tennessee transfer failed to pass for over 100 yards for the first time since taking over the Hoosiers' starting job Week 2, and he also coughed up his first fumble of the season. While the previous three Big Ten signal-callers to face Michigan have all also struggled to keep the ball out of harm's way, Jackson's bottom-of-the-barrel outing leaves little confidence for his production this coming Saturday against Rutgers' defense, which has been solid so far this year.

Still starting QB
Jackson is still Indiana's starting quarterback Saturday at Michigan, The Daily Hoosier reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson remains Indiana's starting quarterback despite his unimpressive performance Saturday at Maryland. While the quarterback may be relieved his role is intact, it will not get any easier for him. Now, Jackson is expected to start against a much more difficult opponent in Michigan, currently undefeated in 2023 and ranked second in the AP rankings.

Rough stat line in blowout
Jackson completed 17 of 29 passes for 113 yards and one interception during Saturday's 44-17 loss to Maryland.
ANALYSIS
Jackson was locked down along with the rest of Indiana's offense in this blowout loss. The Tennessee transfer actually logged a season-low 3.9 yards per attempt, and he was eventually relieved by redshirt freshman quarterback Brendon Sorsby, who tossed four touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Jackson should still be considered the team's starting quarterback moving forward, though the challenge will only get harder during the Hoosiers' next matchup at Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Gets the job done in win
Jackson completed 11 of 26 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 29-27 overtime win against Akron. He also had six rushes for -19 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jackson logged his first truly subpar outing since being named Indiana's starting quarterback earlier this season. The Tennessee transfer was highly efficient over the previous two contests versus Indiana State and Louisville, completing 76.4 percent of his passes for 9.7 yards per attempt. Jackson's true fantasy should become clearer after the Week 5 contest against Maryland.

Nears 300 passing yards in loss
Jackson was 24-for-34 passing for 299 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 21-14 loss to Louisville. He also had eight rushes for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jackson logged career-highs in passing yards and attempts as the Hoosiers tried to work their way back from a 21-0 halftime deficit. The Tennessee transfer has now gone 42-for-55 passing for 535 yards and a 1:1 TD:INT ratio through his first two starts at Indiana. Jackson will look to once again improve his performance this coming Saturday against Akron.

Officially starting quarterback
Indiana's head coach Tom Allen announced Jackson as Indiana's starting quarterback, Zach Osterman of The Indianapolis Star reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Jackson and Brendan Sorsby were competing to be Indiana's starting quarterback. The former won out after his performance last Saturday against Indiana State. Jackson completed 85.7 percent of his 21 passes for 236 yards and logged a rushing touchdown.

Will start Week 2
Jackson is set to start for the Hoosiers' Week 2 game against Indiana State, Zach Osterman of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Tom Allen noted that Jackson and Brendan Sorsby would each get a chance at starting to begin the season. With Sorsby getting the nod in Week 1, Jackson will start in Week 2. Jackson finished Saturday's game completing one pass for 24 yards.

Not starting Week 1
Jackson will not start Saturday's season opener versus Ohio State, Jeff Rabjohns of 247sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson was battling for the starting job during the offseason but the coaching staff went with Brendan Sorsby for the opener. However, Jackson is still expected to see some playing time.

Battling for starting job
Jackson is still competing for a starting job, as head coach Tom Allen said he isn't likely to name a starter prior to Week 1, CrimsonQuarry.com reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Jackson transferred in from Tennessee last season after failing to beat out Hendon Hooker or Joe Milton. He appeared in three games, throwing for 37 yards and recording a rushing touchdown. Now, he's battling Brendan Sorsby for a starting spot in Bloomington, and it appears that competition will go right down to the wire.

Inactive for bowl game
Jackson is not available for Friday's Orange Bowl versus Clemson, Tyler Mansfield of Rivals.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson will miss Friday's action for undisclosed reasons, leaving Gaston Moore as the team's likely emergency backup should Joe Milton suffer an injury. Jackson appeared in three games and will look to compete for the starting job heading into camp next season.
