Returns for preseason finale
Fotu (foot) recorded three total tackles (zero solo) in Saturday's 20-10 preseason loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Fotu was able to play for the first time during the preseason after nursing a right foot injury for a series of weeks. The defensive tackle logged 16 defensive snaps in the contest, and he appears to be a full go ahead of the Raiders' regular-season opener Sept. 7 on the road versus the Patriots.

Unable to practice
Fotu (foot) did not practice Tuesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu appeared to have a boot on his right foot and was unable to practice Tuesday. The 26-year-old played just two games for the Jets last season with both a knee and a hamstring injury. With the Raiders trading for defensive tackle Thomas Booker yesterday, it appears the team is looking for extra depth at the position, as Fotu was not expected to play a starting role on the defensive side of the ball.

Going to Vegas
Fotu signed with the Raiders on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The rotational defensive tackled played in just two games for the Jets in 2024, missing the first five with a hamstring injury and the last 10 with a knee issue. The 2020 fourth-round pick of the Cardinals spent his first four seasons with Arizona, recording a career high 31 tackles in 2022 and a career high 2.5 sacks in 2023. Fotu should have a chance to compete for a role in 2025 with the Raiders.

Won't come off IR in Week 17
Fotu (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's battle against Buffalo, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu has been on injured reserve since Oct. 31 due to a knee injury. He was designated to return Dec. 18 but didn't get activated ahead of last Sunday's game against the Rams. With Fotu being held out again this Sunday, his final chance to play this season will come in Week 18 versus Miami.
Dec 21, 2024
Won't return Week 16
Fotu (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Fotu has been on IR with a knee injury since Oct. 31, and the Jets opened his 21-day window to return to practice Wednesday. He was also a full participant during Wednesday's session, though it appears he'll need some more time before getting back to full game shape. Fotu's next opportunity to play will come Sunday, Dec. 29 versus Buffalo.
Dec 18, 2024
Designated to return from IR
The Jets opened the 21-day practice window for Fotu (knee) to return from injured reserve Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Fotu was placed on injured reserve Oct. 31 due to a knee injury. It was his stint on IR, but he is progressing towards returning for Sunday's game against the Rams after logging a full practice Wednesday. Fotu has tallied three tackles (one solo) across two regular-season games.
Oct 31, 2024
Placed on IR with knee injury
The Jets placed Fotu (knee) on injured reserve Thursday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu will be placed on injured reserve for a second time this season, this time due to a knee injury. He missed the first five games of the regular season due to a hamstring injury he sustained in training camp, but he was able to suit up for Weeks 6 and 7 and logged three tackles (one solo) over that span. His placement on IR means Fotu will have to miss at least the next four regular-season games, and the earliest he can return will be Week 14 against the Dolphins on Sunday, Dec. 8. In Fotu's absence, Leonard Taylor and Soloman Thomas will serve as the Jets' rotational defensive tackles behind starters Javon Kinlaw and Quinnen Williams.
Oct 30, 2024
Missing Week 9
Fotu (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Thursday night's matchup against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
It's not surprising that Fotu will be sidelined Thursday night, as the 26-year-old defensive tackle didn't practice all week after missing the Jets' Week 8 loss to the Patriots due to a knee injury. Solomon Thomas is expected to see additional reps as a rotational defensive tackle with Fotu missing Week 9.
Oct 25, 2024
Will not suit up Week 8
Fotu (knee) has been deemed out for Sunday's matchup against the Patriots, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu began the campaign on IR due to a hamstring injury but was able to return ahead of Week 6. However, the defensive lineman didn't practice at all this week, and he'll miss his sixth game of the season this Sunday. The Jets have a quick turnaround for Week 9 with a Thursday night game against Houston, so Fotu could be in danger of missing that contest as well.
Oct 14, 2024
Activated Monday
Fotu (hamstring) has been activated to the Jets' active roster ahead of Monday night's matchup against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Fotu has yet to play this season after sustaining a hamstring injury in late August, but it now appears he's moved past the issue enough to suit up Monday night. Expect Fotu to serve as a rotational defensive tackle in Week 6 when the Jets take on the Bills.
Oct 10, 2024
Has chance to play
Fotu (hamstring) could return Monday against the Bills, Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu has yet to play this season after being placed on injured reserve ahead of Week 1. The Utah product returned to practice last week when he was designated to return from IR and appears to be trending in the right direction to make his season debut in Week 6 against Buffalo.
Oct 2, 2024
Has practice window opened
The Jets opened Fotu's (hamstring) practice window Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu began the campaign on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury that he suffered during the preseason. The defensive tackle has since improved and was able to log a full practice session Wednesday. New York has 21 days to add Fotu to its active roster, at which point the 26-year-old will be eligible to return to game action.
Aug 28, 2024
Lands on IR
The Jets placed Fotu (hamstring) on injured reserve Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu played in New York's first preseason contest but subsequently injured his hamstring. There was initially optimism that he'd be ready to return by the start of the regular season, but his placement on IR means the 26-year-old will be forced to miss at least New York's first four games of the campaign. Fotu is likely to play a rotational role on the Jets' defensive line upon his return.
Aug 19, 2024
Sidelined by hamstring issue
Fotu will miss the remainder of training camp due to a hamstring injury, but he's expected to be ready to play in Week 1 of the regular season, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu tallied 22 defensive and five special-teams snaps in New York's first preseason game Aug. 10 versus the Commanders, but he missed the Jets' second exhibition contest Saturday and won't suit up in the team's preseason finale. The fifth-year pro is slated to play a rotational role along New York's defensive line while also contributing on special teams after signing with the team in March following four seasons with Arizona.
Mar 12, 2024
Heads to Big Apple
Fotu is slated to sign a contract with the Jets on Wednesday, Billy Riccette of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu spent the first four seasons of his career with Arizona after they selected him in the fourth round of the 2020 Draft. The Utah product appeared in 11 games last season, missing time with a hand injury, but he still managed to record a career-high 2.5 sacks, including 28 combined tackles. He'll help bolster the Jes' defensive line depth in 2024.
Jan 7, 2024
Set to return Week 18
Fotu (hand) is active for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals activated Fotu off IR on Saturday and the defensive tackle is set to return from a five-week absence due to a hand injury. He should slide into the starting role next to Naquan Jones for Arizona's regular-season finale.
Jan 6, 2024
Comes off IR
Fotu (hand) was activated off injured reserve Saturday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu had missed the Cardinals' last five games since suffering a hand injury in Week 11, but it now seems as if his hand is feeling better and he's got a shot at returning Sunday. The 25-year-old will look to add to his 25 total tackles and 2.5 sacks if he's able to suit up in Week 18.
Dec 29, 2023
Won't be activated Week 17
Fotu (hand) isn't expected to be activated from injured reserve before Sunday's game against the Eagles, Howard Balzer of PHNX reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu had his 21-day window to return from injured reserve opened Wednesday, but he won't rejoin the active roster at his first opportunity. The defensive tackle will have one more opportunity to play in 2023, when the Cardinals host the Seahawks in their Week 18 season finale.
Dec 27, 2023
Gets designation to return
The Cardinals designated Fotu (hand) for return from their injured reserve list Wednesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The transaction starts the clock on a 21-day period during which Arizona can officially activate Fotu before it would have to shut him down for the rest of the season. The Cardinals' injury reports over the week will give an idea of whether he might be available for Week 17.
Nov 20, 2023
Suffers broken hand
Fotu suffered a broken hand in Sunday's loss to the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu missed the remainder of the loss to Houston following the injury, but there's a chance he requires surgery and is able to play through it with a brace or club on his hand. The fourth-year lineman has 25 tackles (15 solo), five TFLs and a career-best 2.5 sacks through 10 games.
Nov 19, 2023
Done for day
Fotu (hand) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's contest with the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Fotu suffered a hand injury against Houston and he'll now be forced to sit out the rest of the contest. In his absence, Roy Lopez will likely see an increase in workload on Arizona's defensive line.
Sep 24, 2023
Will suit up Week 3
Fotu (shoulder) has been ruled active ahead of Sunday's game versus Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Fotu was considered questionable to play Sunday after he sat out the Week 2 loss to the Giants with a shoulder injury. The 25-year-old was limited during each practice this week while tending to this injury, though he'll ultimately be ready to reprise his spot as Arizona's starting defensive tackle.
Sep 23, 2023
Status in question for Week 3
Fotu (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest versus the Cowboys, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu was inactive Week 2 versus the Giants after being listed as a limited practice participant on all three of the Cardinals' injury reports prior to that game. He managed a similar on-field regimen this week, so it remains to be seen if he'll be able to reenter Arizona's defensive line mix Sunday.
Sep 17, 2023
Inactive for Week 2
Fotu (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Giants, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu was a limited participant all week at practice and was given a questionable designation. This will be the defensive tackle's first absence since his rookie year in 2020. In his stead, Kevin Strong should see additional snaps versus New York.
Sep 15, 2023
Questionable Sunday
Fotu (shoulder) is listed as questionable going into Sunday's game against the Giants, Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
Arizona's starting defensive tackle was a limited participant all week during practice, as he's been dealing with a shoulder injury. Fotu hasn't missed a game in over two years but if he were to miss Sunday, the next man up for Arizona would most likely be Kevin Strong.
Aug 17, 2021
Activated off COVID-19 list
Fotu was removed from the COVID-19 list Monday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu was listed as a close contact to a player who caught COVID-19, so he was cleared quickly after a few negative tests. The second-year defensive tackle appeared in 11 games last season, registering 11 tackles and one sack. He will likely compete with Zach Allen as the primary backup behind J.J. Watt and Jordan Phillips.
Aug 13, 2021
Put on reserve/COVID-19 list
Fotu was added to the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu was listed as a close contact of a player who caught COVID-19, so he had to be placed on the reserve/COVID-19. The second-year defensive tackle appeared in 11 games last season, tallying 11 tackles and one sack. Any time he's forced to miss should give undrafted rookie Cam Murray more chances to earn a roster spot on the Cardinals.
Dec 5, 2020
Returns from IR
Fotu (ankle) was activated from injured reserve Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Fotu will return to the lineup Sunday against the Rams after a three-week absence. The rookie fourth-round pick out of Utah will start at defensive end if Angelo Blackson (illness) is out, and he should get plenty of work regardless.
Dec 2, 2020
Trending in right direction
Fotu (ankle) has been designated for a return from injured reserve by the Cardinals on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Fotu has missed the last three games with the ankle issue, but returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since the injury. The Cardinals will have 21 days to activate Fotu, as he could return as early as Sunday's game against the Rams. His return won't affect much from a defensive perspective, as Fotu has supplied just five tackles (two solo) this campaign.
Nov 14, 2020
Shifts to injured reserve
Fotu (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday Howard Balzer of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fotu was already ruled out for Sunday's matchup with Buffalo, and he'll instead be out for at least the next three games. Jordan Phillips (hamstring) is also sidelined, leaving Corey Peters, Trevon Coley, Angelo Blackson and Josh Mauro as the only defensive linemen available this weekend.
Nov 13, 2020
Will miss Sunday's clash
Fotu (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Bills, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie fourth-rounder has played in six games without a start this year, recording five tackles. With both Fotu and Jordan Phillips (hamstring) sitting out, Josh Mauro and Angelo Blackson are the only healthy defensive ends currently on Arizona's roster. The Cardinals likely will bring up practice squad players to serve as depth.
