Lands on injured reserve
The Cardinals placed Wilson (ribs) on injured reserve Saturday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson was already ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, but his placement on injured reserve means he'll be required to miss at least the next four games, making Week 15 against the Texans on Sunday, Dec. 14 the earliest he is eligible to return. Cody Simon will maintain a starting role at linebacker for as long as Wilson is sidelined.
Nov 12, 2025
Ruled out again
Wilson (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the 49ers, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson will miss his second straight game with the injury. He failed to practice in any capacity last week, and he apparently has made little progress given that he was ruled out for Week 11 on Wednesday. Cody Simon should maintain an increased role in Wilson's absence.
Nov 7, 2025
Won't play Sunday
Wilson (ribs) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Alabama product didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday after sustaining a ribs injury in the Week 9 win over the Cowboys, so it's no surprise that he'll be sidelined Sunday. Wilson leads the Cardinals' defense in tackles through eight games this season, recording 60 stops and six passes defended, including one interception. While he's out in Week 10, expect rookie Cody Simon to operate as Arizona's top middle linebacker.
Nov 6, 2025
Misses practice Thursday
Wilson (ribs) did not participate in practice Thursday, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker was also estimated to be a nonparticipant in Wednesday's walkthrough. Wilson injured his ribs in Arizona's win over Dallas on Monday night. At the moment, the middle linebacker who played on nearly every defensive snap across the first seven games of the season does not appear to be on track to play Sunday against the Seahawks.
Nov 5, 2025
Absent from practice
Wilson (ribs) was a non-participant at practice Wednesday, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson suffered an injury to his ribs in the team's 27-17 win over the Cowboys, and he's now opened the week on the sidelines at practice. The linebacker will have two more chances to return to practice prior to Sunday's contest in Seattle.
Nov 3, 2025
Exits game with rib injury
Wilson (ribs) is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Wilson appeared to sustain the injury early in the fourth quarter, and he is being evaluated by medical staff to determine whether he can return to Monday's game. Cody Simon should see additional work at linebacker for as long as Wilson is out of the game.
Oct 21, 2025
Muted in Week 7 loss
Wilson recorded three tackles (three solo) during Sunday's 27-23 loss versus the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Wilson was on the field for all 53 of Arizona's defensive snaps Sunday, but that was still a season-low count for him, and his tackle total was also a season low. The Cardinals have a bye coming up in Week 8, so his next chance to get back on track will come in a Week 9 tilt at Dallas.
Oct 13, 2025
Leading tackler in loss
Wilson recorded nine total tackles (six solo) and one interception in Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The veteran linebacker from Alabama was dealing with an ankle injury prior to the Week 6 contest but still performed well, leading the Cardinals' defense with nine total stops. Additionally, he nabbed his first interception of the season, picking off Daniel Jones in the second quarter of Sunday's loss. Wilson has appeared in all six of Arizona's contests thus far, tallying a team-leading 50 total tackles and six passes defended. He's expected to remain an integral part of the team's defense heading into a Week 7 matchup against the Packers.
Oct 12, 2025
Active in Week 6
Wilson (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Colts, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson has been working through an ankle injury he picked up in the Cardinals' Week 4 loss to the Seahawks. He played every defensive snap in the Week 5 loss to the Titans, racking up six total tackles and one pass defended and now slots in as a prominent member of the defense in a tough matchup against the Colts.
Oct 10, 2025
Questionable to face Colts
Wilson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson has been working through an ankle injury that he picked up during the Cardinals' Week 4 loss to the Seahawks. He played every single defensive snap against the Titans in Week 5 and was limited in practice this past week, so his status for Sunday's game may not be announced by the Cardinals until approximately 90 minutes before the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 9, 2025
Logs another limited practice
Wilson (ankle) remained limited in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Wilson initially injured his ankle in the Cardinals' Week 4 loss to the Seahawks but has yet to miss a game this season. The 27-year-old every-down linebacker has logged 41 tackles (22 solo) and five pass breakups on 99 percent of the defensive snaps.
Oct 8, 2025
Dealing with ankle issue
Wilson (ankle) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson played all 67 of Arizona's defensive snaps in Week 5 versus the Titans, and it's not clear when he picked up the ankle injury. He'll have two more chances to log a full practice before the Cardinals release their final practice report of the week Friday.
Oct 7, 2025
Tallies six tackles vs. Tennessee
Wilson registered six tackles (four solo) and one pass defense during the Cardinals' 22-21 loss to the Titans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Wilson played every single defensive snap for the fourth time this season and led the Cardinals in tackles Sunday. The seventh-year linebacker is up to 41 tackles (22 solo) and five pass defenses through the first five games of the regular season, and he is on track to surpass his total from 2024 (75 tackles through 16 games).
Sep 25, 2025
Active yet again
Wilson recorded seven tackles (four solo) in Thursday's 23-20 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
It was the middle linebacker's fourth consecutive game to start the year with at least seven stops, and he accomplished this one despite leaving the field briefly with an ankle injury during the first half. Wilson now has 35 tackles (18 solo) on the year, the most on the team.
Sep 25, 2025
Back in action
Wilson (ankle) has returned to action in Thursday's contest against the Seahawks, Dani Sureck of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson was briefly sidelined with an ankle issue, but he has now returned to the field. The 27-year-old will continue to operate as the team's starting middle linebacker versus Seattle.
Sep 25, 2025
Questionable to return Thursday
Wilson has an ankle injury and is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Seahawks, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker had four tackles (three solo) at the time of his exit in the second quarter. Wilson played every defensive snap in Arizona's first three games and entered Thursday's contest with the team lead in tackles. Cody Simon is his backup.
Sep 22, 2025
Leads way with 12 tackles
Wilson collected 12 tackles (six solo) and two pass defenses during the Cardinals' 16-15 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Wilson lead both teams in total tackles and played every single defensive snap for a third consecutive week. The 2019 fifth-rounder is up to 28 total tackles through three games, which leads the Cardinals and is tied with Nick Bolton for ninth most in the league. Wilson and the Cardinals will welcome in the Seahawks on Thursday in an NFC West showdown.
Sep 9, 2025
Produces eight stops Sunday
Wilson recorded eight tackles (four solo) and a defensed pass in a 20-13 win against New Orleans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Wilson was quite productive in the season-opening victory, finishing tied for second on Arizona with his eight stops. He logged 100 percent of the team's 75 defensive snaps, something he didn't do in any game last season. Wilson's solid start to the campaign Sunday suggests he has a good chance of exceeding his career-high mark of 82 tackles, which he established in his rookie 2019 season with Cleveland.
Jul 28, 2025
Operating as starting Mike LB
Coach Jonathan Gannon said that Wilson has done an "excellent" job manning middle linebacker in the Cardinals' first-team defense during the early stages of training camp, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arizona moved on from MLB Kyzir White this offseason, and Wilson was among the top candidates to take on his role ahead of the 2025 campaign along with Akeem Davis-Gaither. Gannon more or less confirmed that Wilson will be the starting Mike linebacker moving forward, so an increase in his tackle count (75 in 16 regular-season games in 2024) and snap share (74.3 percent) seem likely, assuming he's able to stay on the field. Stud safety Budda Baker is coming off a career-high 164 tackles last year, but White was second among Cardinals defenders with 137 stops, which may be the baseline for Wilson in his new gig.
Jan 16, 2025
Puts up 75 tackles this season
Wilson posted 75 tackles (including 3.0 sacks), five pass defenses (including one interception) and one fumble recovery in 16 contests during the 2024 campaign.
ANALYSIS
Wilson kicked off his career with 82 tackles in 2019 but hasn't reached that mark in five seasons since then. His tackle tally in 2024 was the closest he's come to doing so, which was helped along by a 74.3 percent snap share in the games in which he suited up. With fellow linebacker and unrestricted free agent Kyzir White and his 137 tackles potentially moving in the offseason, Wilson, who is under contract through 2026, could be poised for a true breakout next season.
Jan 5, 2025
Active Sunday
Wilson (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker was listed as questionable after being limited in practice all week. In 2024, Wilson has 73 tackles (44 solo), including 3.0 sacks, four pass breakups, including an interception, and a fumble recovery on 688 defensive snaps.
Jan 3, 2025
Questionable to face Niners
Wilson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Wilson was limited in practice all week due to an ankle injury he likely picked up during the Cardinals' Week 17 loss to the Rams. Rookie fifth-round pick Xavier Thomas would be in line for increased snaps with Arizona's first-team defense in Sunday's regular-season finale if Wilson is unable to play.
Jan 1, 2025
Dealing with ankle injury
Wilson (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's walkthrough practice, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson returned from a one-game absence due to a concussion and finished this past Saturday's 13-9 loss to the Rams with six tackles (four solo) while playing 39 snaps (38 on defense, one on special teams). The 2019 fifth-round pick may have injured his ankle during the loss, and his practice participation over the next two days will indicate his status heading into Sunday's regular-season finale against the 49ers.
Dec 30, 2024
Registers six tackles in return
Wilson tallied six tackles (four solo) during Saturday's 13-9 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Wilson returned from a one-game absence Saturday after clearing the league's five-step concussion protocols. He ended up playing 70 percent of the Cardinals' defensive snaps and finished tied with Jalen Thompson for third-most tackles on the team behind Kyzir White (eight) and Budda Baker (seven). Wilson is up to 73 combined tackles through 15 games, and he'll look to match or surpass his career best from the 2019 campaign (82 tackles through 16 regular-season games) in Week 18 against the 49ers.
Dec 26, 2024
Set to return Week 17
Wilson has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and will play in Saturday's Week 17 game against the Rams, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson suffered a concussion Week 15 against New England and didn't play this past Sunday versus Carolina. However, he was able to return to practice in full Thursday, per Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic, and has been cleared to return to action Saturday. Wilson's return will likely mean reduced defensive snaps for Owen Pappoe.
Dec 24, 2024
Limited participant in practice
Wilson (concussion) was a limited participant in Arizona's practice Tuesday, per Zach Gershman of the team's official site.
ANALYSIS
Wilson missed the Cardinals' Week 16 overtime loss versus the Panthers with a concussion but is now closer to making his return. However, the 26-year-old will still have to clear the league's concussion protocol in order to play in Saturday's game versus the Rams, and if he ends up being unable to play, Owen Pappoe would likely start in his place.
Dec 20, 2024
Out vs. Panthers
Wilson (concussion) is out for Sunday's matchup against the Panthers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson suffered a concussion early in Arizona's victory over the Patriots this past weekend and was unable to return to the outing. The Penn State product will now be sidelined for his first full game of the year, paving way for second-year Owen Pappoe to possibly start as Wilson's backup Jesse Luketa will also miss the game. Wilson will now have to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol for the Cardinals' Week 17 showdown at the Rams.
Dec 18, 2024
Logs DNP on Wednesday
Wilson (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson sustained a concussion in the Cardinals' win over the Patriots in Week 15, so it's no surprise that he was unable to practice Wednesday. The veteran linebacker will likely be sidelined for the Week 16 matchup against the Panthers, as he must clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol before Sunday's contest to be eligible to suit up.
Dec 15, 2024
Suffers concussion Sunday
Wilson was ruled out with a concussion for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Patriots, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson did not record a statistic before exiting in the first half. He will now have to clear the league's concussion protocol before playing again, and his next opportunity to suit up will come versus the Panthers on Sunday, Dec. 22. The sixth-year pro has had a very productive season as one of Arizona's top off-ball linebackers, totaling 67 tackles, including three sacks, and one interception. With Wilson out and Jess Luketa (thigh) questionable to return, it's likely that Owen Pappoe and/or Xavier Thomas will step up into bigger roles for the time being.
Dec 3, 2024
Sacks Darnold twice
Wilson logged seven tackles (six solo), including 2.0 sacks, and one pass defense in Sunday's 23-22 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Wilson had just one sack to his name entering Sunday's game, but he finished with two of the Vikings' five sacks on Sam Darnold. Wilson is now 0.5 sacks shy from matching his career high that he set across 17 regular-season games with the Patriots in 2023. His 62 tackles through 12 games this year are his most since his rookie season with the Browns in 2019 (82 tackles across 16 regular-season games).
Oct 8, 2024
Logs two turnovers vs. 49ers
Wilson tallied six tackles (five solo), one interception and one fumble recovery during Sunday's 24-23 win over San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Wilson grabbed his first interception of the season Sunday and his first since his rookie year with the Browns in 2019. He followed that up by recovering a Jordan Mason red zone fumble that was caused by Jesse Luketa, which led to the go-ahead 35-yard field goal by Chad Ryland 14 plays later. Through the first five games of the regular season, Wilson has logged 33 tackles (21 solo), including 1.0 sacks, two passes defended (one interception) and one fumble recovery.
Sep 24, 2024
Gets to Goff on Sunday
Wilson finished Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Rams with eight tackles (three solo), including 1.0 sacks.
ANALYSIS
Wilson was the third-leading tackler for the Cardinals on Sunday behind Kyzir White (10) and Jalen Thompson (nine). Wilson got to Jared Goff for a six-yard sack early in the second quarter, which led to a Lions punt on the next play. Through three games this season, Wilson has registered 21 tackles (11 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one pass defended.
Sep 9, 2024
Leads Arizona in solo tackles
Wilson accrued nine tackles (eight solo) and one pass defended in Sunday's 34-28 loss to Buffalo
ANALYSIS
Wilson registered a career-high eight solo tackles Sunday, and his nine tackles tied a career best he set in his rookie year with the Browns. The 2019 fifth-round pick finished third on the Cardinals in total tackles behind linebacker Kyzir White (11) and free safety Budda Baker (10). Wilson started in just four regular-season games across 2022 and 2023 with New England, but he started at linebacker for Week 1 and played in 37 of 58 defensive snaps.
Mar 11, 2024
Set to sign with Arizona
Wilson and the Cardinals have agreed to a three-year, $12.75 million deal that could go as high as $15 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker has played more snaps on special teams than defense in each of the last three seasons. Wilson logged 960 defensive snaps and 82 tackles as a rookie with the Browns in 2019, but he has yet to come close to those numbers since. As a member of the Patriots the last two seasons, Wilson recorded 37 and 36 tackles, respectively.
Dec 8, 2023
Secures sack in win
Wilson recorded three tackles (two solo), including a sack, while also deflecting a pass in Thursday's 21-18 win over Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Wilson was able to get to Mitch Trubisky in the first quarter, bringing down the quarterback for his first sack of the year. The linebacker has seen his defensive snaps fluctuate all season and he was able to make the most of his 19 snaps in Week 14.
Oct 30, 2023
Seven tackles in relief
Wilson had seven tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Wilson has filled in as a depth inside linebacker for the first seven games of the season. He was called upon for more snaps on defense in Week 8, however, after Ja'Whaun Bentley (hamstring) left the game in the second quarter and did not return. Wilson played a season-high 43 snaps on defense (59 percent) and registered a season-high seven tackles in relief. He'll be in line for more work in Week 9 against the Commanders if Bentley is unable to suit up for that contest.
Mar 16, 2023
Re-ups with New England
Wilson re-signed with the Patriots on a one-year contract Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson had 26 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery with the Patriots in 2022. In addition to contributing on special teams, the linebacker played 20.9 percent of the team's defensive snaps last year, but he didn't see the field on defense in the final five games.
Mar 15, 2022
Shipped to New England
Wilson was traded from the Browns to the Patriots on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
New England and Cleveland swapped two linebackers who could both benefit from a change of scenery, with Wilson joining the Patriots and Chase Winovich now set to suit up for the Browns. After racking up 82 tackles (57 solo) as a rookie with Cleveland back in 2019, Wilson is now coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons and will work to reinvigorate his career under coach Bill Belichick.
Jan 7, 2022
Cleared from injury report
Wilson (personal) is no longer on the Browns' injury report, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson hasn't played since Week 14 due to being in COVID protocols, then missing Week 17 due to a personal matter. Wilson will likely return to his regular role of a rotational linebacker Sunday against the Bengals.
Jan 2, 2022
Out for Week 17
Wilson has been ruled out of Monday night's game against the Steelers, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson didn't travel with the team because he is dealing with a personal issue. The Browns will accordingly be without some of their linebacker depth for a third-straight game.
Dec 27, 2021
Returns from COVID list
Wilson was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
ANALYSIS
Wilson tested positive for the virus on Dec. 17 and has missed the Browns' last two games. Wilson's return will strengthen the depth of the Browns' linebacker unit Sunday against the Steelers.
Dec 20, 2021
Won't play Week 15
Wilson (illness) wasn't reinstated from the reserve/COVID-19 list and won't be available for Monday's game against the Raiders, Dan Labbe of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Even with the NFL pushing back Cleveland's Week 15 game an extra two days in addition to relaxing the return-to-play protocols for vaccinated individuals who test positive for COVID-19, Wilson and several other key Browns players weren't able to clear the necessary protocols prior to Monday's 5 p.m. ET kickoff. Wilson is one of three Cleveland linebackers that remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list along with Tony Fields and Jacob Phillips.
Dec 17, 2021
Tests positive for coronavirus
Wilson was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday after testing positive for the virus, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson is now set to miss the first game of the season while in the health and safety protocols. He's mostly played special teams of late, so his absence may not affect Cleveland's defensive game plan.
Nov 17, 2021
Busy in loss to Pats
Wilson notched seven tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 45-7 loss to New England.
ANALYSIS
The blowout nature of Sunday's loss allowed the Patriots to safely lean on the ground game to close things out, so Wilson was heavily involved as a run stopper. Still, he only played 37 percent of defensive snaps and will be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes ahead of Week 11's matchup against the Lions.
Oct 21, 2021
Ready to go
Wilson (calf) is active for Thursday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Wilson picked up a calf issue during the team's Week 6 contest against Arizona but won't miss any game action as a result. He's held his most regular role on special teams, picking up 13 tackles in six games on the campaign.
Oct 20, 2021
Questionable for Week 7
Wilson (calf) has been listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Broncos, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson has been a limited participant in practice every day this week after tweaking his calf sometime following Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. If the linebacker is unable to play Thursday, expect Tony Fields or Elijah Lee to take over as the starting Weakside linebacker.
Sep 8, 2021
Not on injury report
Wilson (shoulder) isn't listed on the Browns' injury report Wednesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson injured his shoulder in the Browns' preseason opener and has yet to make it off the injury report since then. An MRI revealed that Wilson sustained a Grade 1 AC joint sprain, but it seems that the linebacker will be able to play Week 1 against the Chiefs.
Aug 31, 2020
No surgery needed
Wilson confirmed Monday that he won't require surgery to repair his hyperextended left knee, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
This is outstanding news for the second-year pro, as he's now expected to be sidelined for about 4-to-6 weeks tending to the injury. The 22-year-old was outstanding as a rookie, racking up 82 tackles (57 solo), one sack and an interception in 16 games last season. As long as Wilson is sidelined, look for Tae Davis to ascend to the top of the depth chart at weakside linebacker.
Aug 30, 2020
Expected to avoid surgery
Wilson is not expected to require surgery to repair his hyperextended left knee, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson could carry a four to six week recovery timetable is he's indeed able to avoid surgery, through previous reports had him pegged to miss at least six weeks. If it looks as though the second-year linebacker is on track for the latter end of that recovery timeframe, the Browns could realistically opt to place him on the PUP list to start the season.
Aug 23, 2020
Could return in 2020
Wilson (knee) "definitely has a chance" to return in 2020, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson hyperextended his knee during Tuesday's practice and will get a second opinion from orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in the near future. He's expected to miss at least 6-to-8 weeks, which means the Browns may place him on the PUP list to start the season. However, it's positive news that the second-year pro is expected back at some point this year since he piled up 82 tackles and seven pass breakups as a starter last year.
Aug 20, 2020
Hopes for 6-8 week timetable
Wilson is hopeful he can avoid surgery on his hyperextended left knee and retake the field within 6-8 weeks, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson won't officially know whether he'll require a procedure on his knee until swelling decreases, which could take time considering that he suffered the injury just two days ago. The 22-year-old was recently demoted from his position as the Browns' starting weakside linebacker due to a the horse-collar tackle that caused Nick Chubb to enter the concussion protocol, so it remains to be seen what sort of role he'll play even if he manages to avoid season-ending surgery.
Aug 19, 2020
Will see specialist
Wilson (knee) will get a second opinion from orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson is facing a long rehab after suffering a hyperextended left knee Tuesday. There's still a lot of swelling, and he may not know for a few weeks if season-ending surgery is required. Prior to the injury, Wilson made news for the horse-collar tackle of Nick Chubb that sent the running back to the concussion protocol. That reckless play prompted his demotion from starting weakside linebacker and the promotion of Tae Davis to the top of the depth chart.
Aug 18, 2020
Set to miss time
Wilson suffered a hyperextended knee during Tuesday's practice and will miss time, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson will need to undergo further evaluations before a timetable for his return can be determined, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that options as significant as season-ending surgery are within the realm of possibility. Of course, the Browns are hoping for less drastic options to be made available. Wilson stands to play a significant role in the team's linebacker corps in 2020 when (or if) he's available.
Aug 18, 2020
Suffers knee injury
Wilson was carted off the practice field Tuesday due to a knee injury, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson is set to undergo further evaluation to determine the severity of his injury. The 2019 fifth-round pick grew into a significant role for Cleveland as a rookie, and he could realistically kick of the 2020 campaign as the starter at middle linebacker if healthy.
Mar 31, 2020
Man in the middle
Wilson is the Browns' starting middle linebacker as the roster currently stands, Dan Labbe of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson, a fifth-round pick out of Alabama in 2019, was needed for significant duty following Christian Kirksey's season-ending pectoral injury in Week 2. The rookie grew into the role over the course of the season, taking pointers from the departed Joe Schobert, but it remains to be seen if the Browns will enter the season with him as the starter in the middle. After losing both Schobert and Kirksey to free agency, Cleveland may target linebacker, among other spots, in the upcoming NFL draft. Wilson finished the 2019 season with 82 tackles, one sack, one interception, seven passes defensed and one forced fumble over 16 games.
