Lattimore racked up six tackles (four solo) in the Saints' 27-24 win over the Panthers on Sunday.

Lattimore tied for team lead in tackles Sunday, and he's now recorded at least that many tackles in three straight contests. Lattimore has struggled this season, failing to record a turnover and recording just one pass defended while giving up solid production to opposing wideouts. He'll look to improve in Week 8 against the Bears.

Lattimore (hamstring) is active for Monday's game versus the Chargers, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Lattimore was limited in practice all week and showed enough to play in the primetime contest. He'll have the tough task of covering Keenan Allen, who has recorded a 28-290-1 line over three games since rookie Justin Herbert took over under center.

Lattimore had struggled mightily in coverage over his first three appearances of the season, surrendering a 72.7 percent completion rate and a 145.1 passer rating when targeted. If able to play Monday night his quarterback assignment will be Justin Herbert, who has thrown to a 5:3 TD:INT with more than 310 passing yards per game in his rookie season.

Lattimore (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Detroit, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Detroit's passing attack could be primed for a big day against a depleted Saints secondary that will be without both Lattimore and Janoris Jenkins (shoulder) at the cornerback position. Lattimore failed to practice Thursday or Friday after getting a limited session in Wednesday, and he'll now set his sights on getting healthy in time to face the Chargers on Monday Night Football in Week 5.

Lattimore had his fifth-year option exercised Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

This was a mere formality, as Lattimore has developed into one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. The fifth-year option guarantees the 2017 first-round pick close to $12 million as the team looks to eventually re-sign their star cornerback.

Lattimore was forced out of Sunday's game against the Falcons with a thigh injury, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.

The Saints cornerback corps' depth was already hurting with Patrick Robinson (hamstring) inactive. Eli Apple and P.J. Williams will work as the top two corners while Justin Hardee and Johnson Bademosi are expected to see an uptick in duties.
