The United States Football League (USFL) is a professional American football minor league founded in 2021. This brand-new league’s inaugural season began on April 16, 2022, as eight teams from a North and South conference competed for the first-ever USFL championship. The Birmingham Stallions won the title on July 3, 2022, against the Philadelphia Stars.
The USFL regular season games will return on April 15, 2023, and conclude in June 2023, behind ten weeks of football action and exciting games. The four-team divisional playoff stage arrives at the end of June and the beginning of July, and then the championship game to crown a new champion.
The good news for football fans is that all of the nation’s top football betting sites provided football odds and title odds in 2022 and will continue to do so for the 2023 edition allowing bettors to place bets on their favorite teams in the USFL. Join us as we preview the USFL betting odds below and how you can get involved with America’s brand-new professional football league’s hottest teams while gaining a greater betting perspective.
Betting on the USFL is as simple as wagering on the NFL or college football, and many football betting types are available through most of the top betting websites in addition to other USFL content, such as betting advice from football experts. However, due to the league’s inexperience, most wagering strategy is approached with statistical predictions and speculation. A football team in the USFL is ultimately unproven, as we’ve only witnessed one season, but the regular methods of wagering and available markets remain the same, including Prop bets (team Props and player Props) and Futures bets.
USFL betting example:
The above example is displayed in American odds, and the current USFL champions (Stallions or Team A) are the betting favorites against Philadelphia Stars (Team B). A $140 Moneyline wager on the Birmingham Stallions to win the title game would return $100 profit. A $100 wager on the Philadelphia Stars will return $130 of profit if you like the under. However, most football fans love to bet against the spread (ATS), where a deduction or addition of points to our bet can be the difference in winning or losing tickets.
The above example would likely provide a spread betting option for the Stallions at around -3.5 points with odds of -110. This would require the Stallions to win by 4 or more points for your bet to cash. If you like the Stars as an underdog, oddsmaker could provide a spread of +3. Backing the +3 spread would require the Stars to lose by 2 points or less for a winning bet, 3 points would be a push. That said, should the Stars prevail and win the game, that would additionally result in a winning ticket.
You’ll also notice our USFL betting example has a total of 38.5 points; this represents the number of points the oddsmaker expect to be scored. As a bettor, your job is to predict whether the points scored in the game will fall higher or lower than this total for this betting line. Betting over 38.5 points would require 39 points or more to return a winning ticket, or wagering on the under 38.5 would need 38 points or less to produce a winning bet.
Top online sportsbooks also provide futures bets instead of betting on the result of a single regular season game. This is where you can predict which football team will win the USFL Championship playoff final or their respective Conference.
The 10-week regular season USFL schedule is compromised of divisional matchups that see the best teams qualify for their conference championship games. The top two teams of each conference battle it out in the championship game, and then the USFL North and South conference winners meet in the USFL playoff game to declare the season’s champion.
Once the USFL regular season has been completed, the most competitive game for the North and South divisions commences. The two best teams from the USFL, North and South, compete to reach the playoff final, which is the featured game of the season. Almost instantly, when the top four teams involved in the divisional championship games are known, the USFL championship betting favorites emerge and betting websites start releasing the championship odds to bettors.
To understand the top four USFL odds, let’s preview the championship outright winner odds that were available for the league’s inaugural season ahead of the divisional championship games:
The Stallions and Generals finished in first place in their divisional standings and were labeled as the playoff favorites with matching records of 9-1. However, the biggest underdogs, the Stars, defeated the Generals to win the Northern divisional championship and claim their position in the USFL playoff finals. The Stallions overcame the Breakers to win the Northern divisional title and went on to defeat the Stars in the USFL Championship playoff final.
The world’s premier sportsbooks will give a chance for football bettors to wager on USFL legal betting markets. FanDuel Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook, and many more of your favorite sportsbooks provide Moneylines, Spreads, Totals, Props and Futures USFL betting markets, in addition to the rest of the legal sports betting that they regularly offer week to week.
