It might seem like the NFL has been thrown into chaos, but you wouldn’t know it just from looking at the top teams heading into Week 5. The defending Super Bowl champions from Philadelphia are 4-0 (3-1 ATS) in the NFC; Buffalo leads the AFC at 4-0 (2-2 ATS), giving us an early taste of what might happen in February.
As for the NFL odds in Week 5, we have some very interesting matchups that will help determine which teams challenge the Eagles and Bills for a berth at Super Bowl LX. Here’s a preview of what you’ll find at OddsTrader:
San Francisco vs. L.A. Rams (LAR –5.5)
Thursday, October 02, 08:15 PM EDT
Will the NFC West end in a four-way tie at 10-7? There are no losing teams in this division, which the Niners (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS) lead despite owning the lowest point differential at plus-5.
Injuries are once again threatening their progress. Having already put DE Nick Bosa (knee) and TE George Kittle (hamstring) on injured reserve, San Francisco could be without QB Brock Purdy (toe), WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) and WR Jauan Jennings (undisclosed) for Thursday’s matchup.
Cue the sharps. They’ve unloaded some big money on the Rams (3-1 SU and ATS), moving them from –1.5 at the open to –5.5 as we go to press.
This is despite San Francisco pulling in 59% consensus according to our early reports. Don’t be surprised if the betting public also flips to L.A. should Mac Jones be announced as Thursday’s starter in place of Purdy.
Tampa Bay vs. Seattle (SEA –3)
Sunday, October 05, 04:25 PM EDT
The Seahawks (3-1 SU and ATS) came close to beating San Francisco in their season opener, and now they have the best point differential in the NFC West at plus-44 following three straight victories.
We knew their defense would be good, but their complete overhaul on offense appears to be paying dividends now that QB Sam Darnold has gotten some reps in – he leads the league at 9.1 yards per pass attempt and 12.9 yards per catch.
We’ve seen some explosive plays from the Buccaneers (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS) as well, but they’re the only winning team in the NFC South, and their point differential is zero after four games. It didn’t take long for Seattle to hit –3 on 57% consensus after “officially” opening at –2.5; the earliest overseas odds had the Seahawks at +1.5.
Kansas City vs. Jacksonville (JAX +3)
Monday, October 06, 08:15 PM EDT
Cancel the funeral arrangements for Kansas City (2-2 SU and ATS).
They’re still not quite right, but back-to-back wins have them back in the hunt for yet another title – thanks in part to the return of WR Xavier Worthy (shoulder) from the injured list. Imagine how good K.C. can be once WR Rashee Rice completes his suspension in Week 7.
First things first. The Jaguars (3-1 SU and ATS) passed their biggest test of the 2025 campaign last week in San Francisco, winning 26-21 as 3.5-point road dogs; now they’re pulling in sharp action for Monday Night Football, enough to hold steady at +3 since the open with 62% consensus.
