It’s a solid slate in the MLB today. Here are three player props to consider for the later portion of the slate. Let’s continue to earn some profit!

Picks Summary

Minnesota Twins vs. Oakland Athletics

Sunday, July 16, 2023 – 04:07 PM EDT at Oakland Coliseum

The Twins will send out Joe Ryan for today’s matchup against the Athletics.

He hasn’t disappointed. Ryan has struck out 32.8% of batters in the last month. That’s up from 28.7% of strikeouts on the season for Ryan. He’s also held lefties to a .086 ISO and wOBA of .216 over the last month. Today, he’ll face at least six lefties in the Oakland lineup.

The Athletics have struck out under 20% of the time against righties in the last month. However, six batters still have struck out at least 23.4% of the time against righties in the previous month. Oakland has Tony Kemp and Jace Peterson weighing down that strikeout rate because they’ve been the two consistent hitters putting the ball in play.

Ryan might not earn strikeouts against those two, but he’s got great matchups against everyone else. Ryan has a high CSWhiff percentage of 28.9% over the last month. He’s also earned 28.1% of whiffs and has had nearly 16% of swinging strikes over the previous 30 days.

I’ll take Ryan to earn at least eight strikeouts today.

MLB Prop Pick: Joe Ryan Over 7.5 K’s (+100) at Caesars Sportsbook

Detroit Tigers vs. Seattle Mariners

Sunday, July 16, 2023 – 04:10 PM EDT at T-Mobile Park

The Tigers might not win today’s game, but Reese Olson should give them a quality start.

Olson has struck out over 30% of batters in the last month. He’s earned 28.1% of strikeouts against lefties and 32.6% against righties. So, he’s fared well against both sides of the plate in the strikeout category.

Olson will face a Mariners lineup that has struck out over 25% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. The Mariners have six batters striking out 23% of the time or more against righties and four batters striking out 28.6% of the time or more in the last month against righties.

He’s got plenty of targets to reach, just five strikeouts. He could even get those five strikeouts through the first time around the order. The Mariners also have five batters that are walking under 8% of the time against righties.

Olson has also done a good job limiting walks and should remain in today’s game through six innings. Therefore, I’ll take Olson to earn at least five strikeouts tonight on the MLB odds board.

MLB Prop Pick: Reese Olson Over 4.5 K’s (-115) at Caesars Sportsbook

Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels

Sunday, July 16, 2023 – 07:10 PM EDT at Angel Stadium

I can’t pinpoint why Christian Javier has struggled recently, but he’s allowed a .314 ISO and wOBA of .502 against his last 61 batters faced. Lefties are hitting a .290 ISO and wOBA of .513 against Javier in their last 38 plate appearances.

He’s also struck out 5.3% of lefties in the last month and only 14.2% of lefties on the season. It’s been an odd year for Javier.

He’ll face Shohei Ohtani in tonight’s lineup for the Angels. Ohtani has hit a .448 ISO and wOBA of .476 against his last 64 righties. He’s also hit 34.1% of line drives, fly balls, and over 70% of hard contact while limiting ground balls to under 40%.

Ohtani has hit a 22% barrel percentage against righties and has a BABIP of .324, which is respectable. Javier can’t figure anything out. He might return to form tonight against an Angels lineup that often strikes out. But if there’s any better that Javier will continue to struggle against, it’s Ohtani.

Javier has earned less than 5% of swinging strikes against lefties in the last 30 days and rarely gets whiffs against lefties. If Ohtani can put the ball in play, he will hit a couple of hard shots into the outfield. That should result in an extra-base hit or two in this game.

Let’s take Ohtani to earn at least two total bases in tonight’s Sunday Night Baseball matchup.

MLB Prop Pick: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (-117) at Bet365
