Los Angeles Angeles vs. Colorado Rockies
Sunday, June 25, 2023 – 07:15 PM EDT at Coors Field
Shohei Ohtani didn’t make anyone happy last night. The Angels scored 25 runs, and he wasn’t really a massive part of it. He even made two outs in one inning when the Angels went on a rampage, but he’s got a great matchup today. He’ll face Austin Gomber of the Rockies, who has allowed a .435 ISO and wOBA of .543 to his last 25 lefties.
Ohtani has smacked a .412 ISO and wOBA of .407 against his last 38 lefties as a left-handed hitter. Ohtani does have higher strikeouts, but Gomber has earned only 16% of strikeouts against lefties over the last month.
Gomber has allowed nearly 58% of hard contact to lefties and has given up 31.6% of line drives in the last month. He’s also not getting a high whiff percentage against lefties and rarely gets lefties to swing through pitches.
Ohtani’s one of the best hitters in the game. He’ll quickly get back on track in today’s game against Gomber. His last home run came in Coors Field against Kyle Freeland, who is another lefty for the Rockies. Take a chance with Ohtani today.
MLB Prop Pick: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (-140) at Bet365
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants
Sunday, June 25, 2023 – 04:05 PM EDT at Oracle Park
Arizona will send out Ryne Nelson for today’s game. Nelson has been so bad against lefties, allowing a .340 ISO and wOBA of .428 against his last 55 lefties faced. He has given up 56.4% of hard contact and 33.3% of fly balls in the last 30 days against lefties too.
He can’t get high swinging strikes or many whiffs out of the zone. He also struck out only 16.4% of lefty batters last month.
Meanwhile, Joc Pederson has slugged a .277 ISO and wOBA of .331 against righties over the last month. Pederson has also limited strikeouts to 14.8% against righties and has slugged over 30% of line drives and fly balls in the last 30 days against righties. Pederson even has 72.2% of hard contact against righties, with a barrel percentage of 13.9%.
Nelson rarely earns grounders and gives up so much hard contact with plenty of line drives. He’s allowed over 27% of line drives in the last month.
Lefties have even hit a .259 ISO and wOBA of .418 against him throughout the season. I’ll take Pederson to rake and earn at least two total bases.
MLB Prop Pick: Joc Pederson Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115) at Bet365
Washington Nationals vs. San Diego Padres
Sunday, June 25, 2023 – 04:10 PM EDT at PETCO Park
The Nationals will throw MacKenzie Gore for today’s series finale. Gore has had an up-and-down season, but he’s facing his old ball club. That probably won’t help his case.
Gore has allowed a .266 ISO and wOBA of .348 to his last 87 righties as a left-handed pitcher. He’s allowed over 55% of hard contact, 32.8% of line drives, and 31.1% of fly balls against righties in the last 30 days.
Gore will get his strikeouts, but when a righty connects, he’ll be in trouble.
Fernando Tatis Jr. is one of the righties that will make noise if he connects with one. Tatis Jr. has hit a .364 ISO and wOBA of .496 against his last 30 lefties this season. He’s limited strikeouts to 20% and has hit 81.2% of hard contact against righties.
That’s what I mean by loud hits. If he puts the ball in play, the ball with come off the bat at 100 mph or higher. The exit velocity gives him a high chance of hitting a ball into the gap to earn extra-base hits.
Gore hasn’t always struggled against righties this year. He had a great start to the season. But he’s fallen off since, and with the Padres knowing his tendencies and everything else, there’s a good chance that the Padres will be ready to hit against Gore.
That includes Tatis. Take his Over 1.5 total bases at our MLB odds board.
