This Thursday we have some cracking NHL matchups on our betting cards. Despite laying some juice for all our picks, we love this week’s card.

We are looking at a rare underbet in the Calgary and St Louis matchup. Elsewhere, Connor McDavid looks to continue his assist streak and finally, the Canucks are value to win the first period on home ice.

Picks Summary

  • Calgary vs St Louis Under 6.0 (-125)
  • Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Assists (-125)
  • Vancouver Canucks 1P ML (-110)

Calgary Flames vs. St. Louis Blues

Thursday, March 28, 2024 – 08:00 PM ET at Enterprise Center

Betting Trends

  • The Calgary Flames are just 3-7 in their previous 10 games.
  • The St. Louis Blues are 6-4 in their previous 10 games.
  • The St. Louis Blues have seen the 4th most amount of games go under 6.5 goals in the Western Conference.

Under The Line

Combined, both the Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues have a record of 85-57 to the under 6.5 total line, and with top-rated sportsbooks only looking to lay -125 for under 6.0 goals, we can’t look past this as one of the best value plays of the night.

Both these teams are looking to win for a playoff spot, although it’s looking unlikely at the moment with the Blues getting just a 5% chance of making the playoffs and Calgary just a 1% chance.

The Pick

Calgary have struggled to score goals lately having had just 2.6 per game across their last 10, whilst the Blues have been strong defensively in recent games, allowing only 2.4 goals per game in their previous 10.

The under 6.0 line is the best bet for this NHL matchup. We would happily lay as much as -145 for this line at 6.0 and would even go as far as advising the under 5.5 line also at +120 (betable down to +105).

NHL Pick: Under 6.0 Goals (-125) at Bet365

Los Angeles Kings vs. Edmonton Oilers

Thursday, March 28, 2024 – 09:00 PM ET at Rogers Place

Betting Trends

  • Connor McDavid has seen 56 of his 91 assists come on home ice.
  • McDavid currently has 10 more assists than the next best in the NHL.
  • McDavid has seen 10 assists in his previous five NHL games.

Leading NHL Playmaker

The league’s top playmaker has been on fire not just this season but in recent games, as he is heating up right before the postseason having had 2/2/0/1/4/3/2 assists in each of his last seven NHL games.

The Oilers are banging them in on home soil in recent games. Averaging 4.2 goals per game, we suspect the Kings could be in for a rough night and Connor McDavid is bound to set up yet another assist this season.

The Pick

The juice is heavy but we like the current odds at -125 NHL betting odds. And to be honest, we see some small value here, as we would lay as much as -135 on this pick.

McDavid is probably the best hockey player in the world right now and most definitely in the NHL. Take him to do what he does best at just -125, you won’t regret it (we hope not).

NHL Pick: Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Assists (-125) at Bet365

Dallas Stars vs. Vancouver Canucks

Thursday, March 28, 2024 – 10:00 PM ET at Rogers Arena

Betting Trends

  • The Vancouver Canucks lead the NHL for the most first-period wins this season having gone 19-7-10 overall.
  • On the road, the Dallas Stars are 9-10-15 on the first-period moneyline this season.

Canucks Quick Start on Home Ice

With the best first-period record on the moneyline in the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks seek to bounce back with a win following their 3-2 defeat to the L.A Kings last time out. Their opponent Dallas has won six games in a row and is 8-2 in their last 10 (Vancouver is 7-3 in their last 10).

We believe having lost last time out, the Canucks will look to start this game strong and with intent, and having had the best record in the NHL this far, we are prepared to back them to start strong in this matchup.

The Pick

The Canucks are good on home ice in the first period, but another factor behind this pick is the fact the Stars have the 10th worst first-period record on the moneyline in the NHL this season, which is poor for a team sitting first in the Western conference, and guess who’s right behind them? That’s right, the Canucks, and by just one point.

So, it’s game on in this NHL encounter.

NHL Pick: Vancouver Canucks 1P ML (-110) at Bet365
