Sure, they might catch them on a bad day and win one game, you might even out play them in another game and snatch two wins in a row, but four in a row is almost an impossible task against most NHL teams, yet alone the best team in the league across the previous 24 months.
It’s hard to make a case for the Hurricanes in this scenario, yes they done well to see off the Washington Capitals who topped the Eastern Conference, but in reality all they really had to do was shut down Alex Ovechkin, and the first round win over the New Jersey Devils wasn’t exactly a test as they disposed of them 4-1.
