Best No Run First Inning (NRFI) Bets Today: Oct 16

With the MLB playoffs getting closer to the World Series, we have just four teams remaining. Tonight’s matchups see the LA Dodgers looking to make it 3-0 in the series against Milwaukee, while the Mariners take a 2-1 series lead back to Seattle.

These are our NRFI best bets today.

MLB Best NRFI Bets Today

The Dodgers face Milwaukee tonight, having taken a two-game series lead, with the NRFI going 1-1 for the first two games of the series. We are looking to bet NRFI in this matchup at -130 MLB betting odds.

Seattle leads the league at home in NRFI stats, so we are looking to oppose the trend of a run being scored in the first inning of the opening two games this series.

Overall Record: 7-5 (+1.8 units)

The LA Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers NRFI is our NRFI best bet today. Currently at -130, we wouldn’t look to lay any less than this considering the firepower on display for both teams’ starting lineups.

To get the best value NRFI lines and odds, we advise signing up with multiple sportsbooks to increase your chances of always getting the best odds.

Brewers vs. Dodgers NRFI (-130) at Caesars

The Milwaukee Brewers went 40-43 to no runs in the first inning when playing on the road during the regular season, while the Dodgers went 39-46 to no runs in the first inning when playing at home.

The series has gone 1-1 to the NRFI, and we like both teams to keep things tight in tonight’s first inning. The starting pitcher for LA looks good, with Tyler Glasnow not allowing a single ERA in 7.2 innings pitched with 10 strikeouts in that game. Glasnow has an 84% strike record for NRFI thus far this season.

The Brewers have yet to name their starting pitcher at the time of writing, so it’s advised to check their starting pitcher and his chances of keeping the Dodgers’ first three batters quiet. Still, based on the Brewers’ strong performance in the regular season, we are siding with an NRFI in this game.

Blue Jays vs. Mariners NRFI (-120) at Caesars

The Blue Jays took revenge last night following a 2-0 series lead to the Mariners. Heading into last night’s game, the Blue Jays came away with a 13-4 victory to claw back a game in the series.

The Blue Jays went 40-43 NRFI throughout the regular season when playing on the road, while the Mariners went 52-32 at home, the best home record in MLB this season.

Seattle’s starting pitcher tonight, Luis Castillo, has an 85% NRFI strike rate, having gone 28-5. The Blue Jays start Max Scherzer, who hasn’t been as strong with just a 47% NRFI strike rate this season. We are confident the Mariners can keep the Blue Jays quiet tonight, but the one concern here is Max Scherzer.

That said, we would side with a NRFI here at -120 MLB. The Blue Jays won’t want to allow the Mariners to take an early lead following their good work in last night’s ball game. We expect this matchup to be much tighter on the scoreboard.

What is a NRFI?

NRFI stands for No Runs in the First Inning, and it has become all the rage for baseball bettors. However, there is also the YRFI, which is the opposite and stands for Yes, a Run in the First Inning. Fans like the immediacy of the wager as it is settled quickly and does not require one to watch the entire game to get a result.

Best NRFI Betting Tips

  • It’s mostly about the strength of the pitchers here. Yes, lineups play a factor, but it’s best to start with the pitchers and the ones who have seen low-scoring first innings pitched.
  • Target pitchers with high ground balls, high strikeout rates, and low line drives.
  • Use stats like team on-base and first-inning ERA average.
  • Weather, wind, and the ballpark could all play a factor, so always check the forecast.
