Diamondbacks vs. Brewers (-115) at Caesars
The Milwaukee Brewers have been a great bet all season when it comes to NRFI. Why is that? Due to their impotent offense. The Brewers are 28th in the league in average runs per game in the first inning at 0.41.
The only teams worse are the Colorado Rockies and the St Louis Cardinals.
Our worry on this bet would be the bats of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are 7th in the league in runs scored in the first inning at 0.61. However, the Brewers have one of their best pitchers on the mound in Quinn Priester.
Priester is 11-2 this season with a 3.44 ERA. He has prevented the opposition from scoring a run in 60% of his starts and has two games in a row where he prevented a run in the first inning. Priester averages only 15.4 pitches in the first inning.
This should be good enough to shut down the Diamondbacks, and I don’t believe the Brewers have the bats to score on the Diamondbacks. Bet this game NRFI.
Royals vs. White Sox (-110) at Caesars
The Kansas City Royals will be in Chicago to take on the White Sox.
The Royals have struggled this year scoring in the first inning. They are only 20th in the league with an average of 0.45 runs in the first inning. The Chicago White Sox have been a little better at the top of the order and are 11th in the league at 0.57 average runs in the first inning.
Kansas City’s starting pitching has been excellent in the first inning. Their opponents only score on them 19% of the time, which is ranked first in Major League Baseball. The Royals will be starting Ryan Bergert, who is 1-1 this season with a 2.79 ERA since being called up. The 25-year-old pitcher has yielded two earned runs or fewer in each outing.
The White Sox pitcher Aaron Civale isn’t that good with a 5.02 ERA this season but we’re going to be counting on the weakness of the Kansas City starting lineup here. This is an excellent bet for NRFI.
Reds vs. Dodgers (-145) at Caesars
It’s hard to bet an NRFI in a Los Angeles Dodgers game because of their potent offense, but it’s a little easier when Shohei Otani is on the mound. He will be facing off against Nick Lodolo, who is 8-6 this season with a 3.55 ERA.
Cincinnati has been excellent at shutting down its opponents this season. In 73% of their games, they did not allow a run to opponents in the first inning. The Dodgers have struggled comparatively, at only 65%.
This is where we are betting that Ohtani can turn things around for a team that has been vulnerable at the beginning of the game. Lodolo has not allowed a run in the first inning in 62.5% of his starts. When the Cincinnati Reds take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, bet NRFI.
