Falls short in extra inning
Vesia (0-5) took the loss against Atlanta on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and and one walk over 1.1 relief innings.
ANALYSIS
Vesia entered with two outs in the ninth to face Matt Olson, retiring the lefty hitter on a fly out. When the game went into an extra frame, Vesia remained in the contest and initially looked like he would hold Atlanta at bay, retiring the first two batters he faced in the 10th. However, the southpaw issued a two-out walk to Sean Murphy, then served up a long three-run homer to Orlando Arcia, creating a deficit the Dodgers couldn't come back from. It was the second time since the All-Star break Vesia has allowed multiple runs in an outing, but he's been pretty effective overall during that period, posting a 3.38 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB over 18.2 innings while notching four holds.

Fires perfect inning for save
Vesia struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
It was clean work for Vesia in his return to the major-league roster after two weeks at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He'd given up six runs (five earned) over 3.2 innings across his five appearances prior to getting sent down, but he was sharp in his return. Save chances are likely to be sparse for Vesia -- Evan Phillips had pitched three times between July 2-4, so he was likely getting a little extra rest. Brusdar Graterol picked up a hold in the eighth inning and Caleb Ferguson should also be in the mix for saves, which will likely keep Vesia in a middle-relief role. He has a 7.20 ERA, 2.30 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB through 20 innings this season while adding three holds and an 0-4 record.

Recalled to majors
The Dodgers recalled Vesia from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia will come up from the minors alongside Nick Robertson to replace Yency Almonte (paternity) and Daniel Hudson (knee) on the Dodgers' active roster. Vesia has been solid in Triple-A this season but has yet to carry that success over into the majors, where he holds a 7.58 ERA and 2.42 WHIP across 19 innings.
Jun 23, 2023
Optioned to Triple-A
Vesia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday by the Dodgers, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia is removed from the 26-man active roster to make room for Phil Bickford after Bickford (back) was reinstated from the injured list. Vesia will likely be back with the Dodgers at some point this summer.
May 30, 2023
Recalled to LAD bullpen
Los Angeles recalled Vesia from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia posted an ugly 7.84 ERA and 2.81 WHIP across 10.1 innings of relief earlier this season with the Dodgers, but he hadn't allowed a run over his last nine appearances at the Triple-A level. The 27-year-old left-hander will try to climb back into a prominent setup role as he returns to the big-league bullpen mix.

Demoted to AAA
The Dodgers optioned Vesia to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Wednesday's starter Gavin Stone takes Vesia's 26-man roster spot. Vesia has posted consecutive scoreless appearances but has struggled considerably this season with a 7.84 ERA and 2.81 WHIP in 10.1 innings. The lefty will surely get another opportunity with the Dodgers this season, but he'll need to perform significantly better to pitch in high-leverage spots like he did in 2022.
Apr 8, 2023
Having rough start to season
Through four appearances this season, Vesia has given up four earned runs on eight hits over three innings.
ANALYSIS
Vesia was one of the Dodgers' best relievers in both 2021 and 2022, posting a collective 2.19 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 133:46 K:BB over 94.1 innings. It's been a different story for the southpaw so far in 2023, as he's given up at least one run in three of his four appearances and has yet to go through an outing without giving up at least one hit. Vesia was thought to be a contender for save chances in Los Angeles' closer committee when the season opened, but he's unlikely to see any such chances until he gets things straightened out.

Has up-and-down spring
Vesia pitched in eight games for the Dodgers during Cactus League play, allowing five runs over six innings. He posted a 10:3 K:BB.
ANALYSIS
Vesia racked up plenty of strikeouts this spring, but his ERA took a hit as a result of him serving up two homers. The lefty didn't have that problem last season, as he gave up only two long balls across 54.1 frames. Vesia was a major weapon for the Dodgers in 2022 with a 2.15 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB while recording 16 holds and two saves. He could see high-leverage work again this season and may even get a few save chances given the team's decision to go with a closer committee, at least in the early part of the campaign.

Continues dominance with 16th hold
Vesia earned a hold over San Diego on Thursday by retiring both batters he faced, including one by strikeout.
ANALYSIS
After Chris Martin allowed two of the three batters he faced to reach base in the eighth inning, Vesia entered and got two outs to preserve Los Angeles' 5-2 lead. The scoreless outing was Vesia's 25th over his past 26 appearances. Over that stretch, he's posted a 38:9 K:BB while allowing just one run over 24 innings.
Sep 12, 2022
Records hold Sunday
Vesia earned a hold against the Padres on Sunday with a perfect inning of work that included two strikeouts.
ANALYSIS
The contest became a rout late, but when Vesia entered in the sixth inning the Dodgers were ahead by only two runs. The southpaw kept things that way, throwing 13 of 15 pitches for strikes and notching a pair of punchouts. Vesia has been very impressive in his second campaign with Los Angeles, registering a 2.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 67:21 K:BB over 46.2 innings. He's notched 15 holds, one save and four wins.
Aug 31, 2022
Secures 14th hold
Vesia picked up a hold against the Mets on Tuesday as a result of pitching a scoreless inning. He struck out one batter and issued one walk.
ANALYSIS
After Los Angeles took the lead in the top of the seventh, Vesia was asked to keep the Mets at bay in the bottom of the frame. He was a bit wild, throwing only eight of 17 pitches for strikes, but worked around a two-out walk to protect the lead. Vesia hasn't allowed a run since July 21. Since that time, he's racked up two wins and six holds while posting a 22:4 K:BB over 14 innings spanning 16 appearances.
Jul 23, 2022
Credited with win Friday
Vesia (2-0) earned the win against San Francisco on Friday by retiring the only batter he faced.
ANALYSIS
With the game tied 1-1 in the eighth inning, Vesia was summoned with two outs and two runners on base to face David Villar. Vesia got Villar to ground out, and the lefty reliever earned the win as a result of Los Angeles scoring four times in the bottom of the frame. It was a nice bounce-back effort from Vesia after he allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning against the Giants on Thursday.
Jul 8, 2022
Picks up second career save
Vesia earned a save against the Cubs on Thursday by striking out the only batter he faced.
ANALYSIS
Los Angeles turned to Craig Kimbrel with a three-run lead heading into the ninth inning, but the closer stumbled and allowed the winning run to come to the plate. Vesia was then called upon to put out the fire, and he struck out Nelson Velazquez on six pitches to finish off the victory. The save was Vesia's first of the campaign and second of his career. He's not a threat to usurp Kimbrel for closing duties, but the left-hander is putting together a solid season with a 3.12 ERA and seven holds along with 34 strikeouts over 26 innings.
Jun 23, 2022
Notches first win Wednesday
Vesia (1-0) earned the win over the Reds on Wednesday, working a scoreless inning during which he allowed one hit and struck out two batters.
ANALYSIS
Starter Tyler Anderson went five innings for Los Angeles, and Vesia came on to replace him with the score tied in the sixth. The lefty reliever allowed a one-out single but nothing else, and he was credited with the win as a result of the Dodgers pulling ahead in the next frame. Vesia has recorded a 3.32 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB across 21.2 innings this season and has been working primarily in low- and medium-leverage situations of late.
May 29, 2022
Picks up sixth hold
Vesia earned a hold against Arizona on Saturday, allowing one walk and striking out two batters in one scoreless inning.
ANALYSIS
The left-hander handled the eighth inning for Los Angeles and protected a one-run lead despite issuing a one-out walk. Vesia has seen his high-leverage opportunities increase over the course of the season, and he has secured a hold in five of his past six outings. He's allowed only one run during that span and has held the opponent scoreless in 16 of his 18 appearances on the season.
May 4, 2022
Credited with first hold
Vesia retired two batters -- one by strikeout -- and did not allow any baserunners to earn a hold in Tuesday's victory against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Los Angeles carried a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning before Brusdar Graterol got into a jam that saw the Giants put the tying run on second base. Vesia was summoned to contain the threat, and he allowed a sacrifice fly before striking out Luke Williams to preserve the lead. This was the southpaw's first hold of the campaign, as he's primarily been used in lower-leverage spots thus far. Vesia has yet to allow a run through seven innings this season, and he has posted a superb 10:1 K:BB.
Apr 7, 2022
Makes Opening Day roster
Vesia was one of 16 pitchers named to the Dodgers' Opening Day roster Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Vesia's inclusion on the roster was expected following a breakthrough campaign last season during which he posted a 2.25 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 12.1 K/9. He eventually became the team's go-to left-handed reliever and finished with nine holds and one save. Vesia will likely work in a high-leverage role again as Los Angeles' top southpaw out of the bullpen in 2022.
Sep 22, 2021
Secures first big-league save
Vesia retired the only batter he faced Tuesday against the Rockies to earn his first major-league save.
ANALYSIS
In the top of the 10th inning, Los Angeles took a one-run lead on an RBI single by Albert Pujols. The Dodgers turned to Brusdar Graterol to open the bottom of the frame, then asked Vesia to record the final out with runners on the corners. The left-hander was successful in the opportunity, inducing a flyout to center field to end the contest. Vesia has been an excellent addition to the Dodgers bullpen, posting a 2.45 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, three wins, eight holds and a 49:19 K:BB across 36.2 innings. He has not allowed an earned run in his past eight appearances.
Sep 8, 2021
Notches win Tuesday
Vesia (3-1) earned the win over the Cardinals on Tuesday, retiring the only batter he faced via strikeout.
ANALYSIS
The Dodgers deployed nine different relievers as part of a planned bullpen game, with Vesia -- the only one among the group to not toss at least a full inning -- landing in the fortunate position to pick up the win. The left-hander couldn't have done much better in his brief opportunity, striking out Matt Carpenter on three pitches to end a two-on, two-out threat. Vesia has been outstanding over his past 25 appearances, posting a 1.09 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 31:6 K:BB across 24.2 frames.
Sep 5, 2021
Secures seventh hold
Vesia earned a hold against the Giants on Saturday by retiring the only batter he faced via strikeout.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw was called upon to face Mauricio Dubon with two outs and a runner on second base in the sixth inning. Vesia struck out Dubon swinging on five pitches to earn the hold. He has ascended to a higher-leverage role over the course of the campaign, notching a hold in four of his past eight appearances. Overall, Vesia has posted a 2.73 ERA, 0.88 ERA and 42:17 K:BB across 33 innings during his first extensive opportunity as a big-leaguer.
Aug 1, 2021
Earns first big-league win
Vesia (1-1) earned the win over Arizona on Saturday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he gave up one hit.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw came into the contest with scored tied 3-3 in the sixth inning. He gave up a one-out single but faced the minimum by subsequently inducing a double play. The Dodgers put up four runs in the top of the seventh, giving Vesia his first win as a major-leaguer. In 19 appearances with the big club this season, Vesia has registered a 3.48 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 24:13 K:BB across 20.2 innings.
Jul 9, 2021
Recalled by Dodgers
The Dodgers recalled Vesia from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.
ANALYSIS
The lefty has posted a 1.00 ERA in nine innings of relief with the Triple-A squad after being sent down June 3. Vesia's work with the Dodgers earlier this season was less impressive, as he yielded seven runs, including three home runs, in just 10.2 innings. He'll fill the roster spot of Jimmy Nelson (back), whom the Dodgers placed on the 10-day IL on Friday.
Jun 3, 2021
Sent to minors
Vesia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia has thrown 10.2 innings of relief for the Dodgers this season but hasn't had much success. His 33.3 percent strikeout rate is strong but hasn't been nearly enough to offset his 22.9 percent walk rate and his shockingly low 10.0 percent groundball rate, leading to a 5.91 ERA, a figure which could be much higher if not for his .059 BABIP.
May 18, 2021
Quick return to majors
Vesia was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was optioned to Triple-A on Monday, but it was a short absence with Garrett Cleavinger (forearm) landing on the injured list. Vesia has given up five runs (three earned) with a 7:5 K:BB through four innings this season.
May 17, 2021
Sent to Tripla-A
Vesia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia made three relief appearances during his stint in the majors and allowed five runs (three earned) on a hit and five walks while striking out seven in four innings. His removal from the major-league roster was part of a transaction to make room for Albert Pujols and Yoshi Tsutsugo.
May 2, 2021
Suffers loss in Dodgers debut
Vesia (0-1) took the loss against Milwaukee on Saturday, completing one inning and allowing four runs (two earned) on four walks while striking out two.
ANALYSIS
The left-hander was recalled from the team's alternate training site earlier in the day and was promptly put into a pressure situation, getting the call in the 10th inning with LA up by a run. Vesia walked the first two batters he faced before yielding a run on a sacrifice fly, but he was able to prevent further damage by striking out the final batter of the frame. After the Dodgers got two runs in the top of the 11th, Vesia returned for the bottom of the frame and again walked the first two batters before he was replaced. Overall, the 25-year-old threw only 14 of 34 pitches for strikes, which is certainly not a recipe for success.
May 1, 2021
Back in big-league bullpen
Vesia was recalled by the Dodgers on Saturday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia spent one day on the major-league roster in mid-April and did not get into a game. He'll take the spot that had belonged to Edwin Uceta, who was optioned in a corresponding move.
Apr 18, 2021
Demoted from active roster
The Dodgers optioned Vesia to their taxi squad Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Vesia's demotion clears a spot in the Dodgers bullpen for Brusdar Graterol (conditioning), who was activated from the injured list ahead of Sunday's series finale in San Diego. The 25-year-old lefty was only up with the Dodgers for one day and didn't appear in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Padres.
Apr 17, 2021
Slated to be called up
Vesia will be recalled by the Dodgers ahead of Saturday's game against the Padres, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
The Dodgers used six relievers during Friday's 12-inning win over San Diego, so Vesia will be available as bullpen depth Saturday. Vesia made five relief appearances for the Marlins in 2020 and allowed nine runs on seven hits and seven walks while striking out five in 4.1 innings. He should serve as a low-leverage reliever in the big leagues and could be sent back to the team's alternate training site once the Dodgers' bullpen is fully rested.
Mar 15, 2021
Sent to minors
The Dodgers optioned Vesia to their minor-league camp Monday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia, whom the Dodgers acquired in February, will likely report to Triple-A Oklahoma City or Double-A Tulsa as he begins his career with a new organization. The 24-year-old got the chance to make his MLB debut for the COVID-19-depleted Marlins in 2020, posting an 18.69 ERA over his five appearances out of the bullpen.
Feb 12, 2021
Heading to Dodgers
Vesia and a prospect were traded from the Marlins to the Dodgers on Friday in exchange for Dylan Floro, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia made his big-league debut in 2020 and struggled with nine runs allowed over 4.1 innings, and he'll now be heading to the Dodgers. The 24-year-old made nine appearances the Double-A level in 2019 and delivered 16.1 scoreless innings with a 25:1 K:BB, and he should compete for a bullpen spot in Los Angeles.
Sep 10, 2020
Sent down by Miami
Vesia was optioned to the Marlins' alternate training site Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Vesia will return to alternate camp after allowing five runs (four earned) over 1.1 innings during Wednesday's blowout loss to Atlanta. The southpaw has struggled to generate much production in his first taste of major-league action this year with an 18.69 ERA and 3.23 WHIP over 4.1 innings across five appearances.
Aug 29, 2020
Reinstated Saturday
Vesia (undisclosed) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The Marlins never provided reasoning for Vesia's trip to the injured list, but the young left-hander was officially activated ahead of the team's game against the Rays on Saturday and should find himself pitching in low-leverage scenarios moving forward.
Aug 2, 2020
Placed on 10-day injured list
Vesia was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday for an undisclosed reason, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The Marlins provided no reason for the transaction, and it's unclear whether Vesia's absence is related to the team's ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. The southpaw took a loss in his MLB debut in the team's second game of the season, and the length of his stay on the injured list remains to be seen. The Marlins added pitchers James Hoyt and Brian Moran to the 30-man roster in corresponding moves.
Jul 26, 2020
Takes loss in MLB debut
Vesia (0-1) gave up two runs on a hit and a walk while striking out one over 0.2 innings Saturday to take the loss against the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
Making his big-league debut, the southpaw got taken deep by Phil Gosselin to break open a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning. Vesia is one of three lefties in the Marlins' bullpen, and given that this was his first career appearance above Double-A, he may not see many high-leverage spots.
Jul 22, 2020
Present on Opening Day roster
Vesia will be included on the Marlins' Opening Day roster, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Vesia fired 16.1 scoreless frames at Double-A Jacksonville last season and has never seen Triple-A action, but he'll make the jump to the majors to begin 2020. The 24-year-old is likely to fill a low-leverage role until establishing himself as a reliable option.
