In the second contest, he slammed a solo homer to right field in the third inning for his 31st long ball of the campaign. Devers has reached base safely in six consecutive contests, going 10-for-20 with two homers, four RBI, seven runs and four walks over that span.

Joins elite company
Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 3-2 loss the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees. He did not start the nightcap but walked as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning of a 4-1 loss.
ANALYSIS
Devers led off the fourth inning with his 30th home run and snapped a 19-game drought without going deep. With the homer, Devers entered an elite club in franchise history with three 30-homer seasons before the age of 27. Devers joined Hall of Famers Jim Rice and Ted Williams in that achievement.
Sep 12, 2023
Out for nightcap
Devers is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Luis Urias will start at the hot corner, batting eighth.

Delivers four-hit performance
Devers went 4-for-6 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 13-12 loss to the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Devers' first four-hit game of the year marked his fourth multi-hit output in the last eight contests, as the 26-year-old is hitting .333 (12-for-36) with six doubles, three RBI, six runs and a steal during that span. However, he hasn't notched a home run in 18 games, leaving him stuck on 29 long balls on the campaign. Devers is now slashing .272/.343/.505 with 92 RBI and 80 runs across 580 plate appearances this season.
Aug 28, 2023
Draws start Monday
Devers (wrist) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers was held out Sunday with a right wrist issue, but X-rays revealed no injury, and he is feeling good enough to rejoin the lineup one day later. He will man the hot corner like he usually does and hit second in Boston's batting order.
Aug 27, 2023
X-rays come back negative
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said after Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Dodgers that X-rays on Devers' right wrist returned negative, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers was held out of the lineup Sunday after he was hit in the wrist by a pitch late in Saturday's 8-5 win, but he was sent in for X-rays for what appears to be mostly precautionary purposes. As anticipated, the X-rays revealed no structural damage to Devers' wrist, and Cora is hopeful that the star third baseman will return to the lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Astros.
Aug 27, 2023
Set for X-rays
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Devers, who is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, will undergo X-rays on his right wrist, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports. "He's sore. So just stay away from him. We believe it's a day by day thing. So it makes sense to keep him out of the lineup and go from there," Cora said of Devers.
ANALYSIS
Based on Cora's characterization of the injury Devers sustained in the eighth inning of Saturday's 8-5 win when he was hit by a pitch, the third baseman may just be getting X-rays out of an abundance of precaution. Luis Urias will cover third base Sunday in place of Devers, who could be back in the lineup Monday versus the Astros if his X-rays confirm that he isn't dealing with any structural damage to the wrist.
Aug 27, 2023
Scratched with wrist injury
Devers was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers with an apparent right wrist injury, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Boston listed Devers in its initial lineup for the series finale, he'll end up getting a day to heal up after he was struck in the wrist by a pitch during the eighth inning of Saturday's 8-5 win. Devers was able to finish the contest but may be dealing with some swelling or soreness in the wrist a day later. Luis Urias will cover third base in Devers' stead Sunday.
Aug 20, 2023
Three hits, homer in win
Devers went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo homer and two additional runs scored in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Devers opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo homer off Clarke Schmidt, his 29th long ball of the year and third in four games. The 26-year-old Devers feasted against Yankees pitching this weekend, going 9-for-13 (.692) with a pair of home runs in the three-game series. His slash line is up to .274/.347/.530 with 85 RBI and 69 runs scored across 499 plate appearances this season.
Aug 19, 2023
Homers, tallies three hits
Devers went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Devers singled in each of his first two at-bats before crushing a solo homer in the top of the ninth, which served as the final death blow to New York on the afternoon. It was the third baseman's second consecutive game with three hits and he's now homered in two of his last three contests, racking up five RBI over that stretch to go along with four runs scored.
Aug 13, 2023
Sitting Sunday
Devers isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
After going 3-for-7 through the first two games of the series, Devers will get a day off for the first time since mid-July. Luis Urias will shift over to third base in Devers' absence, allowing Pablo Reyes to start at second.
Aug 6, 2023
Mashes 26th homer
Devers went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
His fourth-inning shot off Jose Berrios tied the score at 3-3, but Boston was never able to take a lead in the game. Devers has been locked in since the All-Star break, slashing .328/.394/.656 over his last 17 games with six of his 26 home runs on the season, as he closes in on the third 30-homer campaign of his career.
Aug 1, 2023
Three hits in Monday's loss
Devers went 3-for-4 in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Boston had nine hits in the game, though Devers was the only Red Sox hitter with multiple hits. The third baseman had struggled to hit for much of an average in the first half of the campaign, but he batted .354 (29-for-82) in July to lift his season slash line to .266/.333/.519. He's added 25 home runs, 76 RBI, 57 runs scored and two stolen bases over 100 contests as one of Boston's most reliable players.
Jul 27, 2023
Golfs homer in win
Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-3 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Boston's bats had been quelled by Spencer Strider before Devers reached down for a pitch that Statcast indicated was 1.06 feet off the ground and sent it to the right field bleachers. It was the third-lowest pitch hit for a homer in MLB this year, per Ian Browne of MLB.com. The homer ignited the Red Sox, which plated five runs over the final three innings for a comeback win. Devers has hit safely in five straight, going 8-for-19 with two home runs during that span.
Jul 20, 2023
Hitless in return
Devers started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Oakland.
ANALYSIS
Devers returned to the lineup after missing the two previous games with a calf injury. Prior to the injury, Devers was in a groove, going 10-for-27 with four doubles, three home runs and seven RBI over seven contests. The Red Sox are off Thursday and will return to action Friday at home against the Mets.
Jul 19, 2023
Cleared to start Wednesday
Devers (calf) will start at third base and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers missed the first two games of the series in Oakland with a tight right calf, but he looks like he'll try and give it a go Wednesday. Fantasy players planning to use Devers in DFS lineups may still want to keep close tabs on the Boston lineup leading up to the 3:37 p.m. ET opening pitch just to ensure he isn't a late scratch.
Jul 19, 2023
May not start Wednesday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Devers (calf) worked out prior to Tuesday's game, but he may not start Wednesday's series finale in Oakland, MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With an off day coming Thursday, the Red Sox could make sure Devers is 100 percent when the team opens a homestand against the Mets on Friday. That the report indicates Devers may not start Wednesday suggests he could be available as a pinch hitter. Justin Turner has been filling in for Devers at third base.
Jul 18, 2023
Out again with tight calf
Devers (calf) remains out of the lineup Tuesday at Oakland.
ANALYSIS
Devers is still considered day-to-day after experiencing tightness in his right calf during Sunday's series finale against the Cubs. Justin Turner will play third base and bat third Tuesday versus the Athletics and right-hander Luis Medina. Masataka Yoshida is serving as Boston's designated hitter and cleanup man.
Jul 17, 2023
Out with calf tightness
Devers is out of the starting lineup Monday against Oakland due to right calf tightness and is being considered day-to-day, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers felt some tightness in his calf during Sunday's game and mentioned the issue to skipper Alex Cora after the game, per Mike Monaco of ESPN. The team is hopeful it'll be a one-day absence for Devers, who will likely be re-evaluated Tuesday morning to determine his availability for the second game of the series.
Jul 17, 2023
Rare day off Monday
Devers is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Athletics.
ANALYSIS
Devers will take a seat for the first time since June 14 as the Red Sox launch their three-game series in Oakland. The third baseman has been red-hot since returning to action following the All-Star break, going 6-for-13 with three solo homers, two doubles and five runs scored over Boston's series in Chicago. Justin Turner will start at third base while Adam Duvall enters the lineup in center field after some shuffling and will bat fifth in the series opener with the Athletics.
Jul 16, 2023
Goes yard Sunday
Devers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a double in Sunday's 11-5 win over the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Devers is 6-for-13 with three homers and two doubles in three games since the All-Star break, though that may be a product of facing Cubs pitching. The third baseman has five multi-hit efforts in 11 games in July, batting .395 (17-for-43) in that span. He's up to a .261/.330/.523 slash line with 23 homers, 73 RBI, 53 runs scored, two stolen bases and 22 doubles through 90 contests. He's added 22 points to his batting average since June 23, and that has led to overall improvements in his season-long production.
Jul 14, 2023
Goes deep twice
Devers went 3-for-5 with two solo homers in Friday's win over the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Devers wasted no time starting his second half off right with solo homers in the second and third innings. He's up to 22 long balls with an .841 OPS through 380 plate appearances. The 26-year-old slugger snapped a seven-game homerless drought and is now hitting .356 (21-for-59) with five home runs over the last 16 games.
Jul 2, 2023
Collects three hits, three RBI
Devers went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's victory over the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Devers put the Red Sox on top 2-1 with his two-run home run in the top of the third and again added to Boston's lead with an RBI single in the fifth. The third baseman reached base three times in the contest and fell a triple short of a cycle, while also launching his third homer in his last eight games. He's hitting .344 over that eight-game stretch with six RBI and seven runs scored.
Jun 23, 2023
Clubs 18th homer
Devers went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Devers' fourth-inning blast gave the Red Sox the lead for good. The third baseman has hit a small skid, going 5-for-30 (.167) across his last eight games. He's up to 18 homers and 60 RBI through 73 contests, but his .239/.302/.488 slash line is unusually poor. Despite the struggles at the plate, Devers still has a firm grip on a starting job.
Jun 14, 2023
Gets Wednesday off
Devers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
With a team off day coming Thursday, the Red Sox will look to build in a two-day break for Devers, who was overdue for a breather after starting in each of Boston's last 16 games. Justin Turner will step in for Devers at the hot corner in the series finale with Colorado.
Jun 14, 2023
Two long balls in losing effort
Devers went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
The star third baseman got the Red Sox on the board by taking Chase Anderson deep in the fourth inning for a two-run shot, then launched another two-run homer in the 10th off Matt Carasiti. Unfortunately, Colorado had scored three times in the top of the 10th. Devers has gone yard four times in the last five games, but a feast or famine June that has seen him fail to collect a hit in six of his 13 games has left him with a .250/.351/.563 slash line on the month to date.
Jun 14, 2023
Big night in loss
Devers went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to Colorado.
ANALYSIS
Devers launched his third and fourth homers over the last five games, giving him 17 home runs and an MLB-leading 56 RBI through 65 games. Prior to this recent outburst, the third baseman endured a power outage. Devers had gone 16 games without a home run and had a .230 slugging percentage.
Jun 10, 2023
Homers again Saturday
Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Yankees pitching seems to be the remedy for Devers' recent power drought -- he's homered in consecutive contests against New York after going 16 games without a long ball. The third baseman accounted for Boston's lone run Saturday. He's up to 15 homers and 16 doubles through 62 contests this season, but his .247 batting average is far below his established standard. He's also walking less (6.4 percent) and striking out a bit more (20.3 percent) than he did last year, though he's produced 51 RBI and 34 runs scored to be plenty useful in standard fantasy formats.
Jun 10, 2023
Goes yard in win
Devers went 2-for-4 with one double, one homer, one RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 3-2 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
The 405-foot blast off Gerrit Cole was his 14th on the season, and just his first home run since May 19th. After dealing with a lingering calf injury, Devers has recorded multiple hits in three of his last five games. While the 26-year-old sits in the top five of the American League in long balls, his .247 average and .302 on-base percentage leave much to be desired, and would be the lowest marks for the star third-basemen in each category since 2018.
Jun 4, 2023
Has key walk in win
Devers went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Rays in the first game of a doubleheader. He went 0-for-2 with two walks in the nightcap.
ANALYSIS
Devers worked an eight-pitch walk right before Justin Turner delivered a three-run double in the pivotal, six-run sixth inning of the afternoon game. Devers has always been willing take a base on balls during his career, but the third baseman hadn't exhibited that trait for much of 2023... until recently. Devers sat on a career-low 4.6 BB% to start the week but has walked five times in the last four games.
May 29, 2023
Hitless in return
Devers went 0-for-5 in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Devers returned to the lineup after missing the first two games of the series with a calf strain. The third baseman's 0-fer included two at-bats with with runners in scoring position. Devers has just two hits over the last 26 at-bats.
May 28, 2023
Returns to lineup Sunday
Devers (calf) will start at third base and bat second in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers was idle for the first two games of the series in Arizona while battling a sore left calf, but after he was able to run on the field without issue Sunday, he'll be cleared to enter the lineup for the finale. In his return to action, Devers will be looking to put an end to a 2-for-19 skid at the plate over his last five starts before he hit the bench with the injury.
May 27, 2023
Dealing with minor calf injury
Devers is dealing with a left calf injury but hopes to return Sunday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
ANALYSIS
The injury explains why Devers is sitting for the second consecutive day Saturday against Arizona, and it may also partially explain his 2-for-19 stretch over his last five games. He's feeling better, however, so a trip to the injured list doesn't seem necessary.
May 27, 2023
Sitting again Saturday
Devers is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
ANALYSIS
After getting a scheduled day of rest Friday, Devers will remain out of the lineup for a second straight contest Saturday. The 26-year-old went 2-for-19 with four strikeouts over his last five games, so the Red Sox will hope the multiple days of rest lead to better results for him moving forward. Justin Turner will draw the start at third base and bat third versus Arizona.
May 26, 2023
Gets night off Friday
Devers is not in the lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
This appears to be a planned night off for Devers, who has fallen into a bit of a slump but still boasts 13 homers and 44 RBI through 49 games on the year. Justin Turner is covering third base and batting third Friday versus the Diamondbacks and right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. Masataka Yoshida will take a turn as Boston's designated hitter.
May 20, 2023
Clobbers two homers in win
Devers went 2-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 6-1 win over the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Devers homered in back-to-back innings, going yard in the second and third. The infielder's first long ball put Boston up 1-0, while the second one drove in three runs, extending the lead to 6-0. The 26-year-old now has 13 homers on the year, tied for fourth in MLB.
May 10, 2023
Out of lineup Wednesday
Devers is not in the lineup Wednesday against Atlanta, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This appears to be a routine day of rest for Devers, who's sitting on a .245/.299/.538 slash line with 11 home runs and 34 RBI through 36 games this season. Justin Turner will start at third base and bat third for Boston.
May 4, 2023
Hammers 11th homer
Devers went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and four RBI in Thursday's 11-5 win over the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Devers provided a two-run double to cap Boston's five-run second inning, and he added a two-run homer as insurance in the eighth. The third baseman is 7-for-25 (.280) with two homers and seven RBI over his last six games. For the season, he's slashing .240/.291/.558 with 11 homers, 31 RBI, 22 runs scored and eight doubles through 32 contests.
Apr 30, 2023
Goes deep early in win
Devers went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 8-7 extra-inning win over the Guardians.
ANALYSIS
Devers launched his AL-leading 10th home run in he first inning to give Boston an early lead. The third baseman is on a pace to his 60 over a 162-game season. He appears to have a made a conscious decision to leave the park more often, which has come at the expense of batting average. Devers has career highs in launch angle (15.0) and flyball percentage (33.3) in his pursuit of the long ball but is hitting just .239 (.208 BABIP).
Apr 28, 2023
Batting cleanup Friday
Devers has moved down to the cleanup spot for the Red Sox in Friday's game versus the Guardians, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
He's batted second almost exclusively this season when both he and Masataka Yoshida are in the lineup, but the two will flip-flop Friday as Yoshida moves to the two-hole and Devers hits fourth. A .238 average and .282 on-base percentage for Devers thus far have been lacking, but he's leading the American League with nine home runs.
Apr 25, 2023
Leads AL in homers
Devers went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 5-4 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Devers is mashing to open the season and leads the American League with nine homers. His 16 extra-base hits are tied for most in MLB with Matt Chapman.
Apr 22, 2023
Swats eighth homer
Devers went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 5-4 loss against Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Devers hadn't homered in his previous six games, the longest drought of the season. The third baseman brought the Red Sox within one run thanks to a sixth inning two-run shot. Devers has a .925 OPS this season, which would be a career high.
Apr 15, 2023
Homers again
Devers batted cleanup and went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and a second run scored in Friday's 5-3 win over the Angels.
ANALYSIS
Devers adjusted to a new spot in the batting order by blasting his sixth home run in 13 games. Masataka Yoshida (hamstring) is the normal cleanup batter and has been unavailable the last three games, but he could return Saturday.
Apr 13, 2023
Getting a day off
Devers is absent from the Red Sox' lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.
ANALYSIS
It's a routine day off for Devers with Tampa Bay throwing left-hander Jeffrey Springs. Bobby Dalbec will be at the hot corner.
Apr 8, 2023
Homers twice, drives in 5
Devers went 2-for-4 with two homers along with five RBI in Saturday's 14-5 win over Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Devers unloaded on a Garrett Hill offering in the second inning with the bases loaded for a grand slam that gave Boston a 6-0 lead. The star third baseman hit his second homer of the day and fourth of the year in the seventh of Tyler Alexander. Devers is off to an excellent start with a slash of .343/.361/.771 over eight games and 35 at-bats.
Apr 7, 2023
Snaps hitless run
Devers went 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBI and second run scored in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Devers had gone 13 plate appearances without recording a hit before his fourth-inning solo shot snapped the string of futility. The homer was his second of the season. Aside from that hitless valley, Devers has been productive at the dish, going 10-for-31 with three doubles, two homers and four RBI while scoring seven runs in seven contests.
Apr 4, 2023
Swats first home run
Devers went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Devers hit his first home run of the season -- the first of three first-inning home runs -- but Boston pitching squandered an early advantage. Thus far, it's looking like Red Sox bats will carry the team, as only one starter has pitched into the fifth inning. Devers has done his part, hitting safely in all four games (8-for-19) with three extra-base hits, five runs scored and two RBI.
Mar 31, 2023
Accepts blame in loss
Devers went 2-for-5 with a double and and RBI in Thursday's 10-9 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Devers offered usual production from the two-hole, but he was a victim of pitch-clock strike out leading off the eighth inning. The Red Sox were down 10-4 at the time but mounted a three-run rally after Devers' strikeout and left a runner on. There's no telling what an extra out would have done. The third baseman accepted blame when talking to Matt Ventour of MassLive.com, noting he's still adjusting to the new rules.
Mar 17, 2023
Returns to camp
Devers returned to spring training Friday after the Dominican Republic was eliminated from the World Baseball Classic, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers went 2-for-16 with two walks and zero RBI over four games while serving as the designated hitter and cleanup hitter. Manny Machado was the starter at third base. Devers will get his reps at third base over the final two weeks before the regular season kicks off. Prior to the WBC, Devers made 14 plate appearances in Grapefruit League play.
Feb 27, 2023
Likely No. 2 hitter
Devers is expected to remain the No. 2 hitter in Boston's lineup, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Red Sox manager Alex Cora is adamant about separating Devers and Masataka Yoshida, a pair of lefty hitters. Since Devers, deemed as Boston's most dangerous hitter, prefers hitting second, Cora will likely leave him in that spot while slotting Yoshida in the middle of the order. Yoshida has appeared in two games this spring and slotted in at cleanup. In Devers' lone appearance, he's batted out of the two-hole.
Jan 4, 2023
Inks long-term deal with Red Sox
Devers agreed to an 11-year, $331 million contract extension with the Red Sox on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers avoided arbitration with Boston on Tuesday by signing a one-year, $17.5 million deal. Although the two sides appeared to be far apart on a long-term contract, they managed to reach a agreement a day later. The 26-year-old has been named an All-Star in the last two seasons, and he slashed .287/.355/.530 with 65 home runs, 201 RBI, 185 runs and eight stolen bases while playing 297 games across those campaigns.
Jan 3, 2023
Avoids arbitration with Boston
Devers signed a one-year, $17.5 million contract with the Red Sox on Tuesday to avoid arbitration, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a nice raise for Devers, who made $11.2 million in 2022. The third baseman agreeing to a deal now does not preclude him signing a long-term contract extension with Boston, although at last check the two sides were reportedly far apart on an agreement. Devers -- who is coming off back-to-back All-Star Game appearances -- is currently slated to hit free agency next offseason.
Oct 4, 2022
Three hits in win
Devers went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 4-3 win over the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Devers singled in the first and third innings before ripping a double and coming around to score in the bottom of the sixth. He later added a sacrifice fly in following frame, giving the Red Sox the lead at 4-3. The multi-hit effort was his second straight and fourth in his last seven contests. Since Sept. 18, Devers has produced a .388 average with a homer, nine RBI and six runs scored over 49 at-bats in 13 games.
Oct 2, 2022
Not starting Sunday
Devers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Devers has a .360/.467/.440 slash line over his past seven games and will take a seat for the series finale versus the Blue Jays. Bobby Dalbec will step in at the hot corner and bat eighth in the series finale.
Sep 28, 2022
Hot start to series

Takes part in field work
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Devers (hamstring) is on pace to return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Tuesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
ANALYSIS
After being deactivated last weekend due to right hamstring inflammation, Devers was cleared to take swings in the batting cage a few days later. Perhaps more significantly, Cora relayed that Devers fielded grounders Thursday, which suggests the hamstring issue isn't hampered him when he plays third base. So long as Devers can run the bases without any discomfort in the next few days, he looks like he'll be ready to check back into Boston's lineup Tuesday.
Jul 27, 2022
Hits in batting cage
Devers (hamstring) took some swings in the batting cage at Fenway Park on Wednesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers didn't appear to be hindered at the plate by his inflamed right hamstring, but his ability to run the bases and move laterally at third base will offer better gauges of his health once he's cleared for full baseball activities. The 25-year-old All-Star is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list as soon as Tuesday in Houston.
Jul 23, 2022
To IL with inflamed hamstring
Devers was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with right hamstring inflammation, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
ANALYSIS

Devers isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Blue Jays due to right hamstring tightness, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers tweaked his hamstring during Friday's blowout loss to Toronto, and manager Alex Cora said that it's possible that the third baseman will require a trip to the injured list. Bobby Dalbec, Jeter Downs and Yolmer Sanchez would likely see additional playing time if Devers is ultimately placed on the IL.

Provides lone offense in loss
Devers went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 14-1 loss to the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Devers gave Boston a 1-0 lead two batters into the game, but that was the extent of the Red Sox's fight in the game. ANALYSIS
After missing three straight games due to back discomfort, Devers checked back into the lineup Tuesday at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a strikeout in Boston's 3-2 loss. Though manager Alex Cora previously expressed some hesitation about using Devers at third base on the turf at Tampa Bay's Tropicana Field, the 25-year-old's inclusion in the lineup at the hot corner suggests he's feeling good following his return to action a day ago.
Jul 12, 2022
Singles in return
Devers (back) went 1-for-4 in a 3-2 loss Tuesday in Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the last three games with a back injury, Devers hit third and served as the designated hitter for Boston. He singled in the sixth off Corey Kluber but was left stranded. He leads the American League in hits and is second in runs scored, total bases, batting average, and OPS among qualified batters.

ANALYSIS
The Red Sox are continuing to take a day-by-day approach with Devers, who will be on the bench for a third straight game while he contends with a sore lower back. Per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe, manager Alex Cora mentioned over the weekend that he plans to be careful with Devers' usage on the Tropicana Field turf during the four-game series with Tampa Bay, so if the 25-year-old returns to the lineup in the next few days, it may be as a designated hitter.
Jul 9, 2022
Out through weekend series
Devers (back) isn't expected to hit the injured list but won't play until at least Monday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
ANALYSIS
Devers left Friday's game against the Yankees and won't take part in the final two games of the series. Bobby Dalbec will be the third baseman Saturday and could be called on again Sunday, but Devers should have the chance to return for another key divisional matchup Monday against the Rays.
Jul 8, 2022

Devers exited Friday's game against the Yankees due to low back pain, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
ANALYSIS

Cleared to play Thursday
Devers (hamstring/back) will start at third base and bat second in Thursday's game against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
ANALYSIS
A sore right hamstring in addition to a bout with back tightness prompted the Red Sox to hold Devers out for the final two games of their series with the Rays, but the 25-year-old is ready to go for the start of a four-game set with Boston's biggest rival. Before his absence, Devers was running hot at the plate with a .318/.388/.455 slash line over his previous 10 starts.
Jul 6, 2022
Out Wednesday with minor injuries
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Devers won't start Wednesday against the Rays while tending to a "little bit" of right hamstring soreness and back tightness, Steve Hewitt of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
When Devers sat out Tuesday's 8-4 loss, the prevailing thought was that he was receiving a routine maintenance day after starting each of Boston's previous 10 contests. However, Cora clarified Wednesday that the 25-year-old is banged up with multiple minor injuries, though none appear significant enough to result in a trip to the 10-day injured list. Christian Arroyo will fill in at third base Wednesday in place of Devers, who could be ready to go for Thursday's series opener with the Yankees.
Jul 5, 2022
Gets Tuesday off
Devers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
ANALYSIS
Though shortstop Xander Bogaerts (thigh) is back in the lineup after a one-game absence, Christian Arroyo will maintain a spot on the left side of the infield while he fills in for the lefty-hitting Devers, who appears to be getting some routine maintenance with Tampa Bay bringing a lefty (Jeffrey Springs) to the hill. Devers isn't in any danger of falling into a platoon at third base, but manager Alex Cora may have viewed the lefty-on-lefty matchup as reason enough to give the 25-year-old some rest following a string of 10 consecutive starts. Devers should be back in action for Wednesday's series finale.
Jun 25, 2022

Steals second bag
Devers went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 6-5 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
His two-run single in the seventh inning gave Boston what seemed like unnecessary insurance runs until St. Louis struck for four in the top of the ninth, and Devers chipped in his second steal of the year in the fifth as well. The third baseman has driven in multiple runs in five of his last six games, continuing a very productive June that has seen him slash .294/.419/.647 with five homers, 15 runs and 16 RBI through 14 contests.

Devers reached out for the reliever's pitch, several inches out of the strike zone, and went the other way for his second home run in as many games. It's been all peaks and no valleys for Devers in 2022; the third baseman ranks seventh in OPS (.978), third in average (.3335) and leads the universe in hits (83).

Boston's hottest bat
Devers went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 5-3 win over Detroit.
ANALYSIS

The third baseman singled in Boston's first run, then knocked in the game-winning tally in the eighth inning. "He knows what's going on," manager Alex Cora told Dana Wakiji of MLB.com. "Even in the last at-bat... instead of trying to do too much, he saw the ball, hit it up the middle. That's what good hitters do and we have a good one." As a young player who's ostensibly healthy, Devers' absence from the lineup in what appears to be a rest day is somewhat surprising, but manager Alex Cora may just want the 24-year-old to hit the reset button. After a poor spring in which he produced a .691 OPS over 52 at-bats, Devers went 0-for-6 in the first two games of the series with Baltimore. Marwin Gonzalez checks in for Devers at third base Sunday.

His 109 wRC+ fell roughly at the midpoint between his poor 2018 season (90 wRC+) and his strong 2019 campaign (132 wRC+).
