Devers then launched a go-ahead homer in the seventh for Boston's last run of the game, but it wouldn't be enough. The third baseman has struggled to start 2020, with just one homer, two RBI and seven runs scored with a .211 batting average in 10 games.

It's not the most conventional lineup to have two left-handers at the top, but the manager is mulling over using that duo in Friday's opener against Baltimore left-hander John Means.

""This group has tested negative three times. We will continue to test them, just because we're being overly cautious. Devers has been delayed to start camp after his girlfriend gave birth right before spring training began. He should still have more than enough time to get up to speed by the start of the regular season.
