WTA Moneyline Odds

The majority of the action in tennis odds is the moneyline, where tennis bettors wager on who they believe will win the match outright.

There are never any ties in tennis matches, which means there must always be a winner. WTA moneyline bets are when you pick between one of two tennis players to win straight up.

For example, you might find that Serena Williams is the -160 favorite to beat Ashleigh Barty at the US Open and that Barty is the +150 underdog.

If the tennis betting odds begin with a minus symbol, it tells you the amount you need to wager in order to generate a $100 profit. In this instance, you would have to bet $160 if you wanted to make a $100 profit.

Your stake is returned if your wager is successful, so your return would be $260. You certainly do not have to bet $100. You could bet $20 at tennis odds of -160 and earn a $12.50 profit if successful. A negative number also shows you this player is the betting favorite.

If the odds begin with a plus symbol, it tells you the profit you would earn from a $100 bet if successful.

In this case, a $100 bet on Barty at +150 would earn you a $150 profit if successful. You get your stake back, so your return would be $250.

Once again, you do not have to wager $100. You could bet $200 and make a $300 profit if she were to win the match.

WTA Set Spread Odds

In tennis point spread betting, the underdog is provided with a point advantage by the oddsmakers so that there is a more level betting field.

A point spread of 3.5 means the favorite would have to win by four games in order to cover the spread, whereas the underdog would have to not lose by more than three games for a winning wager.

For instance, let’s say Venus Williams is the -190 moneyline favorite to beat Victoria Azarenka at the French Open, and Azarenka is the +160 underdog.

If you want more value on Venus, you could bet her to cover the spread. In that case, you might expect to see her given a 3.5 game handicap.

That means she would have to win by a margin of four or more games in order for the bet to pay out. If she were to win 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, your bet would be successful, as she would have won 18 games and Victoria Azarenka would have won 11, and the margin is greater than 3.5.

However, if Venus won 7-6, 6-5, 3-6, 6-4, your bet would be unsuccessful, as she would have only won two more games than her opponent.

That makes success harder to come by, as you have put an obstacle in your path, but your reward would be more attractive odds.

You could expect to find odds of -110 instead of -190, resulting in a larger profit if successful. The alternative option would be to bet on Azarenka to cover the spread, in which case she could win the game or lose by a margin of up to three games, and your bet would pay out.

The profit would be smaller than betting on her to win on the money line, but your chances of success increase.

WTA Totals (Over/Under)

Tennis totals allow bettors to wager on whether the total number of games or sets played in a match will go OVER or UNDER the amount set by the sportsbook.

If you believe a tennis match will exceed 3.5 total sets, then you would bet the OVER. If you think the match will be over in straight sets, you would bet the UNDER.

If Garbine Muguruza is playing against Petra Kvitova at the Australian Open, bettors might find a sportsbook offering odds of -110 on over 21.5 games and -110 on under 21.5 games.

If you think it will be a long, drawn-out match, bet on over. If you think one player will dominate andthat the match will be over quickly, preferably resulting in a straight sets win, bet on under.

It doesn’t matter which player wins. All you care about with these bets is the total games played in the match.

WTA Live Odds

‘Live odds’ are the odds given by a bookmaker on an outcome available for wagers during a game, as opposed to before it.

The term is also applied loosely to any odds betting that is not fixed – that is, where the odds on the bet posted can fluctuate during the period that the bet is ‘live’.

WTA Future Odds

Tennis futures are when you wager on the winner of a tournament weeks or months in advance of that particular event taking place.

Futures bets are typically placed on major tennis tournaments with Australian Open odds, French Open odds, Wimbledon odds, US Open, a WTA Masters 1000 event, or other tournaments on the WTA Tour.

The odds compilers will assign odds on each player, with the likes of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Simona Halep, and Elina Svitolina usually the favorites.

The odds will grow progressively longer until you reach the rank of an outsider. It could be a player with a low ranking, a youngster such as Alexander Zverev at the start of his career, or a player struggling with injury, such as Andy Murray.

You simply bet on the player you think will win. You can also find futures bets on a player reaching the final, or props bets like hitting a certain number of aces in a particular tournament.
