The Braves are listed as slight underdogs at Caesars Sportsbook. However, the pitching matchup favors Atlanta. The game will likely prove why the Braves are the favorites.
Charlie Morton Continues To Limit Extra-Base Hits
Atlanta’s starter, Charlie Morton, has kept teams to a .112 ISO and wOBA of .285 this season. He’s also limited opponents to 20.3% of fly balls and has induced almost 47% of ground balls. This is in line with his performance last year. Opponents hit just a .127 ISO against Morton and hit just 25.2% of fly balls against him last season.
While the Dodgers have a fierce lineup, if Morton can keep extra-base hits down, he’ll survive against Los Angeles.
Atlanta’s Better Matchup
Meanwhile, the Dodgers will pitch Gavin Stone. Stone has only struck out 16.5% of batters while allowing over 30% of line drives. Yet, he’s held teams to a .105 ISO and wOBA of .291.
That’s simply not sustainable with a low strikeout rate and high line drive rate.
Atlanta’s projected lineup has hit a .211 ISO and wOBA of .359 against righties since last season. That should continue in this game against Stone.

In a pitching matchup between Charlie Morton and Gavin Stone, we’ll ride with the veteran Morton as a slight underdog at -105. Top-rated sportsbooks will more than likely agree with this one.
