Chicago Fire FC vs. Nashville SC
Saturday, July 08, 2023 – 08:30 PM EDT at Soldier Field
Chicago Fire FC
MLS Cup playoff hopes haven’t been great for Chicago Fire this season, but the arrival of interim manager Frank Klopas has undoubtedly sparked a new sense of hope within the squad, reflected in their recent results.
The Fire has won 2 of their previous 3 MLS fixtures under the tutelage of Klopas, and all three of those meetings were notably away from home. Returning to home soil this weekend could provide a confident squad, despite facing a table-topping opposition Nashville SC.
Nashville FC
Nashville walked through the Fire earlier this term, as a 3-0 scoreline was the nail in the coffin for Chicago’s former head coach Ezra Hendrickson. However, this Saturday’s visitors will face an impeccable home record in which Chicago has lost just 1 of 9 MLS meetings at Soldier Field this term.
More worryingly, Nashville has won just 3 of their 10 MLS away trips this season, and the quest to secure more points at the Eastern Conference summit could prove difficult.
MLS Prediction, Odds, & Trends
The MLS betting odds could be worth attacking the 3-way moneyline on Chicago to cause an upset victory. With that said, a safer betting option points towards both teams scoring.
Both teams have found the net in 5 of Chicago’s previous 6 home games, and despite their undesirable road record, Nashville has netted at least one goal in 4 of their previous 6 away fixtures.
Score Prediction: Chicago Fire FC 2 – Nashville SC 1
Supporting Trends
- Chicago has scored at least one goal in 9 of their previous 10 MLS home games.
- Nashville has scored at least one goal in 4 of their last 6 MLS away games.
- Both teams have scored in 5 of Chicago’s previous 6 MLS home games.
Soccer Pick: Both Teams to Score (-140) at Caesars Sportsbook
Los Angeles FC vs. San Jose Earthquakes
Saturday, July 08, 2023 – 10:30 PM EDT at BMO Stadium
Los Angeles FC
After breaking the all-time MLS attendance record versus their interstate rivals LA Galaxy, a 2-1 wasn’t the result LAFC hoped for during their midweek derby meeting. Hope, however, is not lost, as the playoff picture is highly attainable, and a Supporters Shield looks promising as they sit in joint-first of the Western Conference standings alongside Seattle Sounders on 32 points.
LAFC returns home this weekend, and tired legs from midweek action could be a factor. With that said, home advantage has saw Steve Cherundolo’s men collect 6 wins from 10 MLS home games this term, and they’ve impressively lost just 3 of their last 20 home games at the Banc of California Stadium.
San Jose Earthquakes
San Jose enter Los Angeles after taking a mere six points from ten road trips, and their head-to-head record versus LAFC stands at a miserable six losses from seven recent visits.
The Earthquakes are in a respectable sixth position of the standings, but away from home; they’ve won just 1 of their last 10 in the MLS.
MLS Prediction, Odds, & Trends
The odds aren’t giving us much value on the LAFC moneyline, but with San Jose’s scoring record away from home being significantly more impressive than their win record, backing a home win combined with both teams scoring is providing excellent returns.
Despite winning just 1 of their last 10 MLS away trips, the Earthquakes have still scored at least one goal in eight of those meetings. Furthermore, LAFC has allowed 5 goals in their previous 5 home games.
San Jose can put themselves on the scoresheet versus an LAFC squad that’s out of form, but ultimately, the final score should side with the home team that possesses the talent and grit to bounce back from poor results of late.
Score Prediction: Los Angeles FC 3 – San Jose Earthquakes 1
Supporting Trends
- San Jose has scored at least one goal in 8 of their previous 10 MLS away games.
- LAFC has conceded 5 goals in their last 5 MLS home games.
- LAFC are unbeaten in 17 of their 20 most recent MLS fixtures.
Soccer Pick: Los Angeles FC Win & Both Teams To Score (+187) at Bet365
