US Open 2025

Thursday, June 12, 2025 – 06:45 AM EDT at Oakmont Country Club

US Opens are notoriously the most difficult of all the major championships, and if that is not fearsome enough, Oakmont is known to be one of  (if not the most) difficult tracks on the US Open roster.

For the most recent renewal of a US Open at Oakmont Country Club, there is the 2016 event won by Dustin Johnson, who followed Angel Cabrera as the 2007 course winner –both coincidentally similar sorts of players, with their natural relaxed approach and long elite hitting. There has also been the US Amateur Championship of 2021 in the interim period that has provided clues for this week’s computer picks.

Interestingly, three of the season’s most consistent PGA Tour players, Joe Highsmith, Ryan Gerard and Jacob Bridgeman, featured prominently in that amateur event. Given their level of improvement since turning professional in only four years, that recent experience must be considered a positive over much of the field this year.

Highsmith’s High Ceiling Is No Fluke

Despite all three players often contending high on leaderboards, Joe Highsmith is the only one to win an event, which was the Cognizant Classic, formerly known as the Honda Classic.

For good measure, the twenty-five-year-old recently gained his first Top 10 in a major championship by finishing an impressive 8th at Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship.

Most of Highsmith’s best results coincide with tournaments on Poa Annua greens, which is hardly surprising given how well he handled Oakmont Poa Annua surfaces in the Amateur Championship. And with that recent proven pedigree of a major championship Top 10, the computer pick has chosen for Joe Highsmith for the same market this week.

US Open Pick:

  • Joe Highsmith To Finish Top 10 (+4000) at Bet365

Fast Starts, Strong Finishes

To underline his burgeoning profile, Ryan Gerard also finished 8th at the PGA Championship.

Currently, after eight top 25 finishes with a best effort of runner-up at the Texas Open, Gerard ranks 30th on the FedEx standings. Interestingly, the twenty-five-year-old from North Carolina is one of the fastest starters on tour, which leads me to believe he could be an interesting option in the round one three-balls or first round leader.

Overall, the most solid market to take Ryan Gerard this week are the Top 40 and Top 10.

US Open Picks:

  • Ryan Gerard To Finish Top 10 (+1600) at Bet365
  • Ryan Gerard To Finish Top 40 (+200) at Bet365

Bridgeman’s Breakout Is Brewing

We may have saved the best for last with Jacob Bridgeman, who has three Top 4 finishes already on the PGA Tour this year. The twenty-five-year-old Clemson alumni has already shown a strong short game along with a more inconsistent long game. Still, he is long enough off the tee to climb the leaderboard if he has an accurate week.

Interestingly, Bridgeman was runner-up to Highsmith at the Cognizant, and recently was 4th at the Signature Truist Championship, which could end up with some correlations to this week’s track.

We suggest betting on Jacob Bridgeman for this week’s US Open in the Top 5 and Top 10 markets.

US Open Picks:

  • Jacob Bridgeman To Finish Top 10 (+1100) at Bet365
  • Jacob Bridgeman To Finish Top 5 (+2500) at Bet365
