The WNBA Commissioner’s Cup will continue with three more games on today’s slate. The Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun have the noon ET window on CBS. However, that’s probably the game with the least excitement, with both teams being 2-7 heading into today.
The other two games have better storylines and will likely be more competitive, with good basketball played. The Atlanta Dream will face the Washington Mystics and the Phoenix Mercury will battle the Las Vegas Aces.

Rhyne Howard Is An Elite Shooter
The Atlanta Dream have one of the best shooters in the WNBA.
Rhyne Howard delivered nine three-pointers in Atlanta’s most recent game against the Chicago Sky. She’s now hit at least three three-pointers in three of her last four games. Ultimately, she took 19 three-point attempts in the win against the Sky the previous time out.
In addition, Howard has played more than 36 minutes per game over the last ten games. She’s also shot at least 30% from three in four of her previous five games.
Ultimately, Howard had struggled from deep over the last ten games. As a matter of fact, she’s only shot 26.8% from downtown in the previous ten games. But she’s getting super hot. I love the fact that she took 19 three-point attempts last game and only needs three three-pointers tonight to hit her prop at -180 odds.
Plus, the Mystics rank 10th in the WNBA in three-pointers allowed to shooting guards this year. The Mystics don’t defend the three well against shooting guards and will now have to go up against one of the best in the WNBA.

Don’t Count on Chelsea Gray!
The Las Vegas Aces aren’t playing up to expectations at all. They’re just one game above .500 and were expected to be one of the best teams in the league.
They’ve got a lot of talent on the roster. But those players just haven’t played well enough. Chelsea Gray, for example, has averaged only 3.3 assists per game and has added at least five assists in just two games this season. Gray has averaged as many turnovers as assists over the last ten games.
Additionally, she’s facing a Phoenix squad that ranks second in the WNBA in assists allowed to shooting guards this season. Gray hit this line in 67% of her games last year. But the Aces aren’t scoring nearly as much this season. The Aces even came close to losing to the Dallas Wings at home last time out.
Plus, Gray has averaged about 31 minutes a game over the last ten. But against Dallas, she saw only 28.4 minutes. She’s also had at least five turnovers in two of her previous four games.
The Pick
Until the Aces prove that they can play better, you’ll want to fade Gray and the rest of the Aces and their player props. They’re not playing well enough, and for Gray to add assists, she’ll need some help from her teammates.
It’s unlikely she’ll get it. So take the Under for Gray in the assists market at +116. We love a good plus-money value bet.
