Minnesota Lynx vs. Phoenix Mercury

The Minnesota Lynx will face the Phoenix Mercury for the third time this season. The Lynx have won both games, including an 88-65 win over the Mercury last time out. In that game, Sami Whitcomb of the Mercury added just six points. She’s only added at least 13 points in 39% of games this season and has hit this line in just 38% of her last 13 games against the Lynx.
It’s time to fade Whitcomb.
Don’t Expect Another 30-Piece?
Sami Whitcomb took the WNBA league by storm with 36 points against the Dallas Wings last time out. She’s scored at least 14 points in four of her last five games, despite playing only 26.8 minutes per game in the previous ten.
She’s shot below 50% from the field, but has hit 42% from downtown in that span. She’s a high-volume three-point shooter and has had solid success lately.
That said, the Lynx are first in the WNBA in points allowed this season. They’ve also limited shooting guards to the lowest points per game this season.
As a matter of fact, Whitcomb has averaged just 9.5 points per game in her last 13 games against the Lynx. She scored just six points in her previous game against the Lynx on July 3, after shooting 43% from the floor and 0% from downtown.
Against the Lynx in her career, Whitcomb has shot 28.2% from three and 31.1% from the field. That’s how good the Lynx are at defending shooting guards. They’ve got a plan and likely won’t allow Whitcomb to add another massive performance offensively.
In addition, Whitcomb has drawn just three fouls against the Lynx in six games. She likely won’t see the foul line often, if at all. She’s ultimately had three games in her last six against the Lynx, where she hasn’t even gotten to the foul line.

Dallas Wings vs. Chicago Sky

The Chicago Sky have gotten the best of the Dallas Wings this season. The Sky have gone 2-0 against the Wings this season. However, the Wings have improved lately, adding three wins in their last five games. They’ve done it behind rookie phenom Paige Bueckers.
Bueckers has added at least 19 points in 53% of games this season and has the matchup to add another 19-point game to her resume tonight.
It’s Time For Bueckers To Shine!
Paige Bueckers had a below-average performance last time out against the Phoenix Mercury. However, she’s scored at least 23 points in two of her previous three games and will battle a Chicago squad that is in the bottom three in points allowed to guards this season.
Bueckers has averaged more than 35 minutes a game over the last ten games. She’s also averaged nearly 16 field goal attempts and has shot almost four foul shots per game in the previous ten games.
Additionally, she’s shot 48.5% from the field over that span and has hit 33.8% from three-point range. She’s actually hit 50% or better in three consecutive games from downtown.
Ultimately, she faced the Sky once and scored just 15 points. However, she still shot 55% from the field and hit 50% from beyond the arc. She only took 11 shots. The volume should increase for tonight’s showdown.
Therefore, consider Paige Bueckers to add at least 19 points in tonight’s game against the Sky.
