Although the Wild are six points adrift of Conference leaders Vegas, they do have one game in hand (this one) and can reduce the deficit to four points.
Amazingly the Wild can still win this conference, although their current odds are +700 and we personally don’t believe they will, it’s still kind of mind-blowing to think this team has their name in the hat at the very least.
Their recent form has very much helped their chances as they have gone 10-5 over their previous 15 NHL games, whilst their prior 15 games have seen them go 6-9. Minnesota has shot up the table defensively in recent weeks and now has the 3rd best goals against record in the NHL allowing only 2.6 goals per game.
The Wild have picked up a point in their previous seven games on the road having gone 5-2 with both losses coming after regulation.
St. Louis Blues Slumping to Seasons End
Trading away some key assets was the sign of a rebuild for the Blues and their recent performances show that they are now just 2-8 in their previous ten games.
St. Louis has been atrocious defensively this season allowing 3.65 goals per game (4th worst in NHL) and allowing the 12th highest amount of high-danger chances in five-on-five situations.
The Blues have a few strong attacking players they can build their roster around next season, but they badly need to fix their defensive issues. It’s apparent this team is just waiting for the season’s end at this stage as they continue to tank toward the bottom of the Western Conference.
