Garrett will start Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Phillies on Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Garrett had a breakout season and logged a 2.10 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in 25.2 innings over his final five starts. Jesus Luzardo will get the ball in Game 1.

Garrett won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Mets after the game was postponed due to poor field conditions.

The playing surface at Citi Field was unable to recover from a weekend of rain, so the Mets and Marlins will be forced to play a doubleheader Wednesday. Garrett holds a dominant 0.57 ERA since the start of September and will presumably start one of Wednesday's games.

During this stretch, Garrett has compiled a 3-3 record while posting a 2.68 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB across 43.2 innings. He currently lines up to take the mound in Milwaukee next time out.

Garrett's now allowed just five runs over his last three outings (17 innings) after struggling to a 7.85 ERA in his prior four outings. His ERA is down to 4.08 with a 1.19 WHIP and an impressive 125:19 K:BB across 22 starts (117 innings) this season. The 26-year-old Garrett will look to keep the momentum going in his next outing, currently slated for next week against the Astros.

Garrett came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 9-8 extra-innings win over the Phillies, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over five-plus innings. He struck out five.

He was briefly on the hook for the loss, getting lifted after he walked Bryson Stott to lead off the sixth inning and watching him come around to score a go-ahead run for the Phillies, but the two bullpens made sure neither starter was involved in the decision. Garrett (5-3) surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and no walks over three innings Friday in a loss to the Rockies. He struck out three.

Garrett served up homers in each frame -- to C.J. Cron in the first, Jurickson Profar in the second and Elias Diaz in the third -- and he also surrendered a double to Alan Trejo. Pulled from the game before the top of the fourth, it matched Garrett's shortest start of the season. However, he'd manage to hold the Royals at bay while the Marlins rallied to overcome a 4-0 deficit and pick up the win. The 25-year-old Garrett had been pitching well coming into Monday's outing, holding opponents to two runs or fewer in his last four starts. Garrett sports a 4.47 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and 60:12 K:BB over 12 starts (58.1 innings) this season.

Toss out his 11-run disaster against Atlanta at the beginning of May, and Garrett sports a 2.56 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 41:6 K:BB through 38.2 innings while serving up only two homers. He could be headed for another ratio-spoiling start, however, as he lines up to take the mound next week in Coors Field.

Garrett gave up 11 runs over 4.1 frames against Atlanta in his previous start, so just about anything he could have done Monday would have been an improvement. The left-hander managed to give Miami some length with 5.1 innings, and he didn't give up a run until the fourth, but a Christian Walker homer in the sixth, followed by two straight singles, was enough to end his night and set him on to his second straight defeat. Garrett has a 5.97 ERA on the campaign, though it would be a much more palatable 3.29 if not for the blow-up in his previous outing.

Garrett (1-1) took the loss in Wednesday's 14-6 rout at the hands of Atlanta, surrendering 11 runs on 14 hits -- including four home runs -- and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

There's no silver lining here for Garrett. Most of the damage came in a seven-run second inning by Atlanta that saw the southpaw serve up three homers, before a Ronald Acuna blast in the fourth finally chased Garrett from the game. His ERA jumped from 2.45 to a bloated 5.81 after this effort, but it's possible to view this performance as an aberration, as the 25-year-old had been tagged for only one long ball over his first five appearances and 22 innings this season. Garrett will look to put this disaster behind him when he next takes the mound, which is likely to come early next week in Arizona.

The only blemishes on Garrett's ledger came on RBI singles to Francisco Alvarez and Pete Alonso in the second and fifth innings, respectively. Cueto isn't expected to be sidelined much longer than the minimum 15 days, but Garrett should still garner at least one more start before the veteran right-hander returns.

Garrett would seem to be a potential fill-in starter for Johnny Cueto, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday after aggravating a lingering biceps injury in his Marlins debut Monday against the Twins.

Garrett and Cabrera have been in a battle all spring, and at one point it seemed as though they could both emerge victorious, with the Marlins seemingly open to a six-man rotation. The decision has been made to go the traditional five-man route instead, but the loser of the battle should still remain on the roster, as injuries have left Miami with just 13 healthy pitchers in big-league camp. Garrett's 8.25 ERA this spring is far worse than Cabrera's 1.86 mark, though Garrett's 12:5 K:BB is more impressive than Cabrera's seven strikeouts and four walks.

Garrett has a minor-league option remaining and appears to be behind Edward Cabrera in the battle for the Marlins' fifth starter job, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cabrera also has better numbers this spring, although neither pitcher has dominated -- Garrett has a 7:3 K:BB through 9.1 innings to Cabrera's 4:2 K:BB in five spring frames. Garrett posted a 3.58 ERA and 90:24 K:BB through 88 innings in 17 big-league starts last season, and even if he begins 2023 at Triple-A Jacksonville, he could see significant action for Miami over the course of the summer.

The southpaw should stick around in the rotation with Trevor Rogers shut down, and if he does, he will take a 3.56 ERA into his next start, which would likely come against Atlanta next week.

Garrett made a rehab start at Triple-A Jacksonville last week and will rejoin the Marlins to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Rangers. Since he tossed just 46 pitches at Jacksonville on Wednesday, it's possible that he's on a pitch count during Monday's nightcap. Whether the southpaw remains in the rotation or moves to a relief role following Monday's start remains to be seen.

The Marlins plan to reinstate Garrett (oblique) from the 15-day injured list to have him start the second game of Monday's doubleheader with the Rangers.

The 25-year-old southpaw initially appeared to be at risk of missing the remainder of the season when he was placed on the IL on Aug. 20 with a right oblique strain, but he ended up making swifter progress in his recovery than expected and will be back with the Marlins with more than three weeks to spare. Garrett was sharp during his lone rehab start last week with Triple-A Jacksonville, covering 3.1 innings while striking out three and allowing one earned run on one hit and no walks. He tossed only 46 pitches in that outing, so the Marlins will presumably look to keep him in the 60-to-75 range as he steps back into the rotation Monday. After the doubleheader, it's unclear if the Marlins will intend to keep Garrett around with the big club as part of a six-man rotation or as a reliever. Miami could also option him back to Triple-A following the outing.

It was reported in late August that Garrett's injury might cost him the rest of the season, but he has apparently made good progress and is ready to resume pitching in games. As such, he will have a chance to rejoin the big club before the campaign comes to a close.

The 25-year-old will still need to increase his workload before he's in the mix to return from the injured list. In spite of Garrett's encouraging progress, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Marlins exercise caution rather than rushing him back since the team isn't in contention for a playoff spot.

Garrett is sidelined with a right oblique strain and probably won't return this season, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.

He was a late scratch from his scheduled start Saturday against the Dodgers, and while Garrett is eligible to be activated at the end of August, the nature of the injury probably makes it unrealistic for him to get stretched out in time to rejoin the rotation before the end of the season. The 25-year-old lefty had a successful campaign, logging a 3.67 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 68.2 innings through 13 MLB starts. Miami's one strength is starting pitching depth, but Garrett should at least get to compete for a rotation spot next spring.

Garrett will not make his scheduled start Saturday against the Dodgers and will be placed on the injured list for an unspecified reason, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

It's not clear who will start in Garrett's place or what the injury is, but he will be out until at least Aug. 30.

Garrett yielded five hits and three walks over six scoreless innings in Sunday's loss to Atlanta. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision.

Garrett was in line for the victory before Atlanta flipped the game in the ninth inning. He'd been tagged with 11 runs (10 earned) over his previous three outings since he last turned in a quality start. The 25-year-old lefty lowered his season ERA to 3.67 alongside a 71:17 K:BB through 68.2 frames. Garrett is projected to face the Dodgers on the road next weekend.

Garrett (2-6) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on eight hits and zero walks over 4.2 innings against the Phillies. He struck out three.

JT Realmuto and Jean Segura both tagged Garrett for solo home runs, and the Phillies racked up eight hits total over Garrett's 4.2 innings. This was the first start all season in which Garrett did not walk a batter and the first time that he struck out fewer than seven in five starts, so perhaps he was around the strike zone a bit too much. He looks to get back on track in his next scheduled start against the Braves this weekend.

Garrett (2-5) took the loss Tuesday as the Marlins fell 2-1 to the Reds, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out 11.

The eleven Ks tied the career high he set only three starts before, but a lack of run support left the 24-year-old southpaw in the loss column. Garrett has an impressive 3.03 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 44:8 K:BB through 35.2 innings over six starts since the beginning of July, but the quality of his competition over that stretch shouldn't be ignored -- five of the six outings came against the Reds, Pirates or Nationals, all of whom rank in the bottom 10 in the league in wRC+ against LHP.

Garrett (2-4) took the loss against Cincinnati on Wednesday, pitching five innings and allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight.

Garrett looked to be headed for an early exit after giving up four runs in the first inning, but he surrendered only one more over the remainder of his appearance and was able to complete five frames. However, the Marlins offense was unable to provide enough runs to overcome the early deficit, handling Garrett his fourth loss of the campaign. Prior to Wednesday, the left-hander appeared to be putting everything together, allowing just five runs while posting a 25:5 K:BB over his past 25 innings across four starts.

Garrett (2-3) allowed one run on two hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over Pittsburgh.

The only damage against Garrett was a solo home run by Jason Delay in the third frame. His last two starts have come against the Pirates; he's combined to strike 18 batters while allowing just one run over 12 innings in those outings. The 24-year-old southpaw now owns a 3.42 ERA with a 47:11 K:BB through nine starts this season. Garrett is lined up to start in Cincinnati next week.

All of the damage against Garrett came by way of the home run -- he served up a solo blast to Pete Alonso in the fourth inning and a two-run homer to Francisco Lindor in the sixth. The latter long ball spelled the end of Garrett's outing, but he fared fairly well overall, giving up a season-low three total hits. The southpaw has had a few poor outings so far, but he's held the opposition to three or fewer earned runs in five of his seven appearances on the campaign.

Garrett pounded the zone in this one, firing 57 of his 83 pitches for strikes. He surrendered his only run in the top of the third inning on an RBI single to left field. The southpaw got knocked around for five runs in his previous outing, but he's allowed three runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. Garrett has accrued a 4.25 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with a 26:7 K:BB over 29.2 innings on the year.

Garrett (1-3) gave up five earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five to take the loss in a 5-3 defeat to the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Garrett took his third loss of the season in his sixth start since being recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville. The 24-year-old left-hander was effective through the first four innings, but then the Cardinals got to him with a four-run fifth inning to knock him out of the game at 84 pitches. Despite wearing an inflated 5.24 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP, Garrett is striking out about one batter per nine and has a chase rate in the 95th percentile. He is expected to make his next start at Washington on Monday.

Garrett allowed multiple hits in all but one of his five innings, but he managed to work out of danger on most occasions. He flashed interesting swing-and-miss stuff, backing his seven punchouts with 16 swinging strikes across 94 total pitches. Garrett has recorded at least five strikeouts in three of his four starts in the majors this season, and he has a 4.08 ERA across 17.2 frames.

Garrett wasn't bad in this one, but he wasn't great either. He's projected for a home start versus the Rockies next week, though he could be moved into a rematch with the Mets if the Marlins add a spot starter since their next day off is June 30.

An error allowed Jeremy Pena to reach in the fifth inning, and Jose Altuve knocked him in with an RBI double. That was the only damage on Garrett's line in an otherwise productive outing for his first win in two games this season. Hes now given up five runs (four earned) on 11 hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts across nine innings. Garrett has a chance to continue in the rotation as injuries have piled up for the Marlins -- he's projected for a road start versus the Mets next week.

Garrett is slated to start Saturday's game against the Astros in Houston, FishStripes.com reports.

With Jesus Luzardo (forearm) and Cody Poteet (elbow) stuck on the injured list and Elieser Hernandez having been sent down to the minors, Garrett will pick up a second turn through the Miami rotation. The 24-year-old has been effective at Triple-A Jacksonville, compiling a 3.71 ERA in 23 career starts, but has not been able to put it together at the big-league level with a 5.60 ERA and 45:26 K:BB in 45 innings since 2020.

He was on the taxi squad and is listed as the confirmed starter. Garrett dealt with a shoulder impingement in early May and gave up two earned runs while striking out eight over 7.2 innings in his two most recent starts at Triple-A. Just continuing to throw and as the innings get up and I get a little more conditioned, that will go up or at least stay where it is." A good showing in camp could see him begin the season in the Marlins' bullpen, but he's more likely to be assigned to Triple-A and stay stretched out as a starter.
