Atlanta re-signed White (shoulder) to a minor-league contract Tuesday.

White lost his spot on Atlanta's 40-man roster and was released last weekend, after he suffered a season-ending left shoulder injury earlier this month. By re-signing with Atlanta, White will have access to the organization's facilities and doctors while he completes his rehab for the shoulder injury. He'll likely revert to Triple-A Gwinnett's full-season injured list.

White (arm) was released by Atlanta on Saturday.

White made a minimal impact in six big-league games back in April and spent most of the year with Triple-A Gwinnett, hitting .254/.363/.450 with nine homers and 14 steals in 43 games. He was recently shut down for the season with an arm injury and will now have to go through rehab as a free agent. It's unlikely a team will pick him up until the offseason given his injury situation.

Triple-A Gwinnett placed White on its full-season injured list Friday due to an unspecified issue.

Though Atlanta hasn't provided an explanation for why White has been shut down for the season, Garrett Spain of BatteryPower.com notes that the 29-year-old exited Gwinnett's July 6 game after landing awkwardly on his left arm while attempting to make a diving catch in the outfield. White retains a spot on Atlanta's 40-man roster, but he could be recalled from Gwinnett and transferred to the big club's 60-day injured list when room is needed on the roster for another player.

White was activated from the paternity leave list and optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett by Atlanta on Friday.

White was initially promoted to replace Michael Harris when he went on the injured list, but now that Harris is back the outfielder will head back to Gwinnett. He'll get another opportunity eventually.

White was placed on the paternity leave list by Atlanta on Tuesday.

White can miss up to three games. Nick Solak is up as a replacement.

White was recalled Thursday from Triple-A Gwinnett.

He'll replace Michael Harris, who is headed to the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain. White can help cover all three outfield spots for Atlanta, but he holds a weak .185/.260/.296 career batting line in 389 plate appearances at the major-league level.

White was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett by Atlanta on Monday.

This is a case of having options working against a player, as White did everything he could this spring to win a job in putting up a 1.393 OPS with three home runs. The speedy utility player figures to wind up spending a good amount of time in the majors in 2023.

Getting the start in right field and batting eighth, White took Spenser Watkins deep in the third and fourth innings. The former Rangers outfielder got traded to Atlanta in the offseason to provide some roster depth, but the 28-year-old has designs of being more than that, going 10-for-23 this spring with six extra-base hits (two doubles, a triple and three homers) and a 3:3 BB:K. He still has plenty of competition for a bench spot on the 26-man roster, particularly from Jordan Luplow, but if White breaks camp on the Opening Day roster, he could see consistent action as a right-handed platoon partner for Eddie Rosario in left field as well as a late-game defensive replacement and pinch running option.

White ran for Nathaniel Lowe after the latter hit a single in the ninth inning. The 27-year-old White didn't stay in the game after that, with Sam Huff instead entering as a defensive replacement at first base. White is now 10-for-11 in stolen base attempts this year. The speedy outfielder has added a .204/.282/.290 slash line with two home runs, seven RBI, 14 runs scored and a pair of doubles this year while competing for playing time primarily in left field and center field lately.

White is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's matchup with the Rays.

White will take a seat after starting six consecutive games, going 6-for-20 with a homer, two RBI, two runs and stolen base in those contests. He'll be replaced in left field by Zach Reks, who will bat eighth.

He plays good defense and has already stolen eight bases, but his .194/.296/.274 slash line is a tough fit for a starting corner outfielder, and his 38.0 percent strikeout rate suggests things are unlikely to change any time soon. Brad Miller will get the start in left field.

White has emerged as the Rangers' primary left fielder, and his hold on the role appears firmer after Nick Solak was optioned Thursday. White walked and stole second base as part of a double-steal in the sixth inning. He is 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts on the season. After hitting .179/.254/.293 in his first two big-league seasons, the 28-year-old is off to a very good start with a .269/.387/.462 batting line in a part-time role. Despite his success at the plate, he's hit ninth in the order in all of his starts.

White entered as a pinch runner, stole base and scored the game-winning run in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

White ran for Mitch Garver in the 10th, and the steal put him in position two the second run on a Brad Miller single. He opened the season as the fifth outfielder and now is one of six on the team. That means his playing time is limited to spot starts, pinch running or hitting, and when he does start, he's often replaced midgame by a lefty-hitter. Through 16 games, White has just 22 plate appearances but does have three steals, tied for second on the team.

He began the season on the active roster following a strong spring training but was sent down to Triple-A Round Rock with a .127 batting average. It seems outlandish now, but White won the Opening Day roster spot over Adolis Garcia. With Davis out of the way and David Dahl dealing with rib and back issues, White and Jason Martin could be in line for regular work in left field and/or DH.

White was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

The 26-year-old joined the Rangers last weekend and will return to Triple-A with Wes Benjamin promoted ahead of his start Friday. White has a .127/.200/.164 slash line in 60 plate appearances with Texas this season.

One day after being optioned to the minors, White will get the call back to Texas after the Rangers moved starting pitcher Kohei Arihara (finger) to the 10-day injured list. The versatile White will give Texas a useful weapon off the bench ahead of the Rangers' two-game set in a National League park in San Francisco to begin the upcoming week, but his stay with the big club might not last much longer than that series.

Further signaling that White will be optioned is that Woodward feels David Dahl or Joey Gallo can play center field if needed, White's primary position.

White went 1-for-3 with an RBI, steal and strikeout as Texas beat the Angels 6-1 Tuesday.

White's fourth-inning-RBI single extended Texas' lead to 5-1 and he proceeded to steal second base on the very next pitch. This was only White's second steal in five attempts across 33 big league games, however he had 14 in 116 games at Triple A in 2019.

White started in center field and went 0-for-2 before being pinch hit for in the seventh inning of Saturday's 2-1 loss to the White Sox.

Center field has been a black hole for the Rangers, who are getting a .509 OPS from the position that's been manned mostly by Leody Taveras with White an occasional fill-in. That production would be lower if the recent contributions of Adolis Garcia are removed. The Rangers only recently started using Garcia in center field, and it looks like he'll make a permanent home there, when not playing left field for David Dahl (shoulder) as he did Saturday. White is slashing .146/.239/.195 over 13 games.

White isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rays, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

White will get a breather after he went 3-for-14 with a triple, two runs and one RBI in the past four games. David Dahl will serve as the designated hitter Wednesday while Adolis Garcia starts in left field.

If White doesn't break camp with the Rangers, then whatever strides made this spring could be stunted in the netherworld of alternate camp/taxi squad until the Triple-A level begins in May.

As the Rangers evaluate prospects and younger major-leaguers, White is being monitored for a possible starting job in the 2021 outfield. The major question is if his bat will play. His .406 OPS suggests not, but White's hit safely in four of his last five games.
