On track to be primary shortstop
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said Wednesday that Lux (knee) appears on track to be the team's primary shortstop in 2024, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was expected to take over the position in 2023 before he blew out both the ACL and LCL in his right knee during an early spring training game. The 25-year-old began a running program in late July and continues to make steady progress within the recovery process, per Gomes. He should be back to full health when camp opens in February.
Jul 23, 2023
Making progress in recovery
Lux (knee) said Saturday that he'll be able to start running on the field at the end of next week and that he could start hitting off a tee in early August, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux is recovering from a torn ACL and LCL suffered early in spring training. He began running on a treadmill in late June and is now nearing on-field running. Though this is a sign that he's making good progress, Lux is not expected to return this season. However, there's a strong chance that he'll be fully recovered by spring training next year.
Jun 20, 2023
Begins running on treadmill
Lux (knee) posted a video Tuesday on his personal Instagram account featuring him running on a treadmill.
ANALYSIS
Lux's video confirms that he's begun a running program about three and a half months after he underwent surgery to repair ACL and LCL tears in his right knee. The Dodgers still don't appear to be counting on Lux returning from the 60-day injured list at any point this season, but if he steers clear of any setbacks while ramping up the intensity of his running over the next several months, he could enter spring training with a clean bill of health.

Nearing running progression
Lux (knee) said Thursday that he's on track to begin a running program early next week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux is progressing more quickly than anticipated in his recovery from March 8 surgery to repair the ACL and LCL tears in his right knee, though the expectation remains that he will not appear in a game for the Dodgers this season. Miguel Rojas continues to serve as the primary shortstop in Los Angeles.
May 6, 2023
Sheds crutches
Lux (knee) is no longer using crutches and could start running in July, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux tore the ACL and LCL in his right knee during a spring training contest in late February and was placed on the 60-day IL on March 30. Though the news that he could be cleared to begin running in July is a positive sign of progress, there's been no indication that the Dodgers expect Lux to return this season.
Mar 30, 2023
Placed on 60-day IL
Lux (knee) was placed on the 60-day injured list Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Lux will miss the entire 2023 season after requiring surgery in early March to repair significant damage to both the ACL and LCL in his right knee.
Mar 8, 2023
Undergoes knee surgery
Lux underwent surgery Wednesday to repair the torn ACL and LCL in his right knee, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux suffered both injuries when he took an awkward step while running bases the bases in a Grapefruit League game on Feb. 27. He'll spend the entire 2023 season in recovery mode, spoiling what many thought might be a breakout campaign for the 25-year-old. Miguel Rojas is expected to open as the primary shortstop for the Dodgers, with Chris Taylor also getting some reps there.
Feb 28, 2023
Also suffered sprained LCL
Lux also suffered a sprained LCL on top of his torn ACL, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
There was some belief that Lux had torn his LCL, but imaging revealed just a sprain. Unfortunately, the torn ACL suffered by the 25-year-old will keep Lux out for all of the 2023 season, as he will undergo surgery on March 7 in Los Angeles. Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor are expected to get the majority of the reps at shortstop with Lux out.
Feb 28, 2023
Diagnosed with torn ACL
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed Tuesday that Lux has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee and is likely out for the season, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
"Gavin is obviously crushed," said Roberts. "It's a huge blow." The 25-year-old was going to get an opportunity to serve as the Dodgers' everyday shortstop in 2023 before his leg gave out as he was running the bases in a Cactus League game Monday afternoon against the Padres. He also has some damage to his LCL and will require a full surgical repair. Miguel Rojas, acquired from the Marlins in January, currently looks like the best bet to fill the vacancy at short in LA.
Feb 28, 2023
Lengthy absence expected
Lux's right knee injury is "bad," a source told Buster Olney of ESPN and is expected to keep the infielder sidelined for a long time.
ANALYSIS
The Dodgers have yet to reveal the results of the MRI performed on Lux's knee, but it doesn't sound like the news will be good. Lux injured his knee during Cactus League play Monday on a slide into third base and had to be carted off the field. We should officially find out more about the 25-year-old later Tuesday. Miguel Rojas figures to take over at shortstop while Lux is on the shelf.
Feb 27, 2023
Undergoing MRI on right knee
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Lux is currently undergoing an MRI on his right knee, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Roberts also confirmed that the injury was to his knee, and not to his ankle or another part of his lower body. The injury occurred on Monday in the sixth inning against the Padres while he was sliding into third base, and he was unable to place any weight on his leg before being carted off the field. It seems very likely that Lux is going to miss time, but there likely won't be an update on Lux until after the results of the imaging are checked by the club.
Feb 27, 2023
Hurts knee, assisted off field
Lux suffered an apparent right knee or lower leg injury in the sixth inning of Monday's Cactus League game against the Padres and was carted off the field, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux wasn't able to put any weight on his foot and required assistance just to get on the cart after he sustained the injury while trying to avoid a throw across the diamond as he slid into third base. The Dodgers will likely provide an update on Lux's condition later Monday, and a clearer diagnosis of the injury should be available in the next day or two once he receives X-rays and/or an MRI. Given how the injury looked, Lux could be in danger of missing time to begin the season.
Oct 14, 2022
Hits bench against lefty
Lux will sit for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Padres on Friday.
ANALYSIS
The Dodgers are going with a righty-heavy lineup against southpaw Blake Snell. Max Muncy will handle second base in Lux's absence, with Austin Barnes entering in the lineup in his place, pushing Will Smith to designated hitter and Justin Turner out to Muncy's former spot at the hot corner.
Oct 1, 2022
Added to Saturday's lineup
Lux was added to the lineup for Saturday's game against Colorado, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
ANALYSIS
Although left-hander Kyle Freeland is starting for the Rockies on Saturday, Lux will join the Dodgers' starting nine after Justin Turner (lower leg) was scratched. Lux is starting at the keystone and batting eighth.
Oct 1, 2022
Resting Saturday
Lux isn't in the lineup Saturday against Colorado, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux hasn't started against any left-handed pitchers since returning from injury, and he'll head to the bench with southpaw Kyle Freeland on the mound Saturday. Hanser Alberto is starting at the keystone and batting ninth.
Sep 29, 2022
Day off Thursday
Lux isn't in the lineup for Thursday's contest in San Diego, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Thursday marks the third time Lux will sit in the Dodgers' last five games. While he's in the dugout, Chris Taylor will start at second base, opening up left field for Trayce Thompson to start and bat seventh.
Sep 27, 2022
Sits versus lefty
Lux isn't starting Tuesday against the Padres, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux hasn't struggled against left-handed pitching as much this season compared to past years, but he will take a seat Tuesday against southpaw Blake Snell nonetheless. Max Muncy will take over at second base for him, moving Will Smith into the designated hitter role and Austin Barnes behind the dish, batting ninth.
Sep 24, 2022
Sits against southpaw
Lux isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Lux is on the bench for a second consecutive matchup with left-hander Jordan Montgomery on the mound Saturday. Chris Taylor will start at the keystone and bat sixth.
Sep 23, 2022
Riding pine Friday
Lux is not in Friday's lineup against the Cardinals, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will head to the bench with lefty Jose Quintana on the hill for St. Louis. Hanser Alberto will start at the keystone and hit ninth.
Sep 21, 2022
Not in Wednesday's lineup
Lux is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Arizona, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux is 3-for-16 with a run and six strikeouts in four games since he returned from a back injury Saturday, and he'll step out of the starting nine for Wednesday's contest. Chris Taylor will shift to second base while Miguel Vargas starts in left field.
Sep 18, 2022
Not in Sunday's lineup
Lux is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux returned to the lineup Saturday for the first time since Sept. 1 after a prolonged absence due to a back injury, and though he experienced no reported setbacks, he'll head back to the bench after he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. Chris Taylor will shift to the keystone while Trayce Thompson starts in left field.
Sep 17, 2022
Officially back in lineup
Lux (back) is starting Saturday against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Lux missed the last two weeks due to his back injury, but the Dodgers elected to keep him off the injured list. He'll start at second base and bat ninth during Saturday's matchup.
Sep 16, 2022
Returning to action Saturday
Manager Dave Roberts said Lux (back) will start at second base Saturday against the Giants, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old hasn't seen the field since Sept. 1 due to the lingering back injury, but he's slated to return to Los Angeles' starting nine Saturday. The Dodgers have already secured the NL West title, so the team could manage Lux's workload down the stretch.
Sep 16, 2022
Still out Friday
Lux (back) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux participated in a simulated game Wednesday and expected to be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener, but he'll instead be sidelined for the 13th straight contest. The expanded rosters for September have allowed the Dodgers to avoid placing the 24-year-old on the injured list to this point, and with no news of a setback he could return to the starting nine any day.
Sep 13, 2022
Sim game on tap
Lux (back), who is out of the lineup Tuesday against Arizona, is scheduled to participate in a simulated game Wednesday and expects to return to action Friday in San Francisco, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Manager Dave Roberts previously indicated Lux wasn't expected back until Friday's series opener, and it appears that expectation remains unchanged. The 24-year-old hasn't seen the field since Sept. 1 due to the back injury, but the Dodgers have taken advantage of the expanded rosters and opted not to put him on the injured list. Chris Taylor has seen most of the action at the keystone with Joey Gallo working in left field until Lux is cleared to return.
Sep 11, 2022
Likely out until next weekend
Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Lux (back) will take live at-bats at the Dodgers' spring training facility in Arizona over the next few days before potentially rejoining the lineup at some point during next weekend's series in San Francisco, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Even though Lux hasn't appeared in a game since Sept. 1 due to his lingering back issue, the Dodgers seemingly have no inclination to move him to the 10-day injured list. Despite having not played in more than a week, Lux at least seems to be progressing well from the cortisone injection he recently received to alleviate pain in his back. He took part in pregame drills Saturday and will continue to ramp up at the team's facility in Arizona while the Dodgers are nearby at Chase Field for their upcoming three-game set with the Diamondbacks at Chase Field that begins Monday. Lux doesn't sound like he'll be available off the bench in Arizona, but he should be ready to go by next weekend if he avoids any setbacks during the ramp-up process.
Sep 11, 2022
Remains out Sunday
Lux (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in San Diego.
ANALYSIS
The Dodgers continue to delay Lux's return to the lineup, and if not for the roster expanding to 28 men in September, he might have already landed on the injured list. Lux will remain out of the starting nine for the ninth consecutive contest, but after taking part in pregame drills Saturday, he looks like he could draw back into the lineup at some point during the Dodgers' three-game series in Arizona that begins Monday. Chris Taylor will replace Lux at the keystone once again Sunday.
Sep 10, 2022
Working out prior to game
Lux (back) is playing catch and doing fielding drills ahead of Saturday's game against the Padres, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux is expected to be sidelined until sometime next week, but it's encouraging to see him participating in pregame drills. He's also expected to swing a bat ahead of Saturday's matchup and will likely have a chance to return to the Dodgers' lineup early next week if he feels good following his workout.
Sep 9, 2022
Likely out until next week
Lux (back) will likely be out until sometime next week, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.
ANALYSIS
According to the report, Lux "probably won't play until at least the (Diamondbacks) series next week," so he likely will not play this weekend and could miss more time beyond that. Lux will not be placed on the injured list, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, but the Dodgers seemingly won't be in any hurry to get him back on the field.
Sep 9, 2022
Remains out of lineup
Lux (back) isn't starting Friday against the Padres, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux continues to recover from a cortisone shot that he received in his back Saturday and will be held out of the lineup for a seventh consecutive game. It's not yet clear when he'll ultimately be able to return, but Chris Taylor will start at the keystone and bat eighth Friday.
Sep 5, 2022
Out until at least Friday
Lux (back) will not return until Friday in San Diego, at the earliest, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
He is recovering from a cortisone injection that he had Saturday, so the Dodgers will hold him out for this three-game series and then re-evaluate him after Thursday's off day. Mookie Betts is starting at second base Monday while Trayce Thompson gets extra work in the outfield.
Sep 3, 2022
Receives cortisone shot
Lux (back) received a cortisone shot Saturday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Back issues have cost Lux the last two games, and he's expected to sit for at least another four or five days. The Dodgers are holding off on placing him on the injured list for now, but such a move could still happen in the coming days if Lux doesn't make the desired progress.
Sep 3, 2022
Remains out of lineup
Lux (back) isn't starting Saturday against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was scratched from Friday's lineup due to a back issue, and he'll remain on the bench for a second consecutive game Saturday. Mookie Betts is shifting to the keystone while Trayce Thompson starts in right field.
Sep 2, 2022
Scratched due to back issue
Lux was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Padres due to a back injury, Rowan Kavner of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux dealt with a neck injury in late August, but his back is bothering him Friday, which resulted in his removal from the lineup. Hanser Alberto is taking his place at shortstop, and Lux should tentatively be considered day-to-day.
Sep 2, 2022
Scratched from lineup Friday
Lux was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Padres for an undisclosed reason, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was removed from the lineup several hours before the start of Friday's game, and it's not yet clear whether the scratch was due to an injury. Hanser Alberto will take over at shortstop and bat ninth. Whether Lux is available off the bench remains to be seen.
Aug 31, 2022
Three RBI in victory
Lux went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Tuesday's victory over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Lux provided a spark for the Dodgers Tuesday as he knocked in Mookie Betts and Max Muncy with a base hit in the third inning to give the team the lead and then provided a much-needed insurance run with an RBI infield single in the seventh. The three RBI effort was the youngster's first of the season and brings his season-long total to 42. Lux missed a few games recently due to a neck issue but has otherwise played regularly for manager Dusty Baker's squad and owns a healthy .296/.372/.434 slash line on the season.
Aug 29, 2022
Sitting Monday
Lux is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series finale against the Marlins, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will take a seat after he went 0-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and two strikeouts in his return to the lineup Sunday following a four-game absence with a neck issue. Hanser Alberto will draw the start at second base and bat ninth versus Miami.
Aug 28, 2022
Cleared to rejoin lineup
Lux (neck) will start at second base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Marlins, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux is back in action Sunday after neck soreness kept him on the bench for each of the past four contests. Assuming Lux experiences no setbacks while starting Sunday, he should resume duties as the Dodgers' everyday second baseman heading into the team's upcoming seven-game week.
Aug 27, 2022
Still sitting
Lux (neck) remains on the bench for Saturday's game against the Marlins, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Reports from Friday indicated that Lux could return Saturday if he felt good after swinging a bat, so he seemingly is still experiencing some soreness. Chris Taylor will again handle second base Saturday.
Aug 26, 2022
Remains sidelined
Lux (neck) remains on the bench for Friday's game against the Marlins, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux hasn't played since Monday as he deals with a neck issue. The fact that he isn't ready to go even after Thursday's scheduled off day is potentially cause for concern, though the Dodgers likely would have placed him on the injured list if they feared a longer absence. Chris Taylor will be the second baseman Friday.
Aug 24, 2022
Remains out of lineup
Lux (neck) isn't starting Wednesday against the Brewers, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to a neck injury and will be out of the starting nine for a second consecutive game. Whether he's available off the bench remains to be seen, but he'll have an additional day to recover since the Dodgers have a scheduled day off Thursday. Max Muncy is shifting to second base while Justin Turner starts at the hot corner Wednesday.
Aug 23, 2022
Managing neck issue
Lux was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against Milwaukee due to a neck injury, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The injury isn't expected to necessitate a trip to the injured list, but Lux will be held out of the lineup until at least Friday's series opener in Miami. Chris Taylor and Hanser Alberto are the likely fill-in option at second base for Los Angeles.
Aug 23, 2022
Scratched from Tuesday's lineup
Lux was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Brewers for unspecified reasons.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old was penciled in to start at second base Tuesday against Milwaukee but was removed from the lineup without explanation. It's unclear if Lux is dealing with an injury or if manager Dave Roberts simply opted for a lineup change.
Aug 20, 2022
Out against lefty
Lux is absent from the Saturday's lineup against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Lux will get his second day off in the last four games as the Dodgers will face a lefty on the mound Saturday. Lux has been consistent at the plate all season with an OPS of .810 -- a number that has been steadily rising over the past week.
Aug 17, 2022
Absent from lineup Wednesday
Lux isn't starting Wednesday against the Brewers, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux has slightly improved at the plate recently, going 3-for-14 with two homers, four RBI, three walks and seven strikeouts over the last four games. However, Hanser Alberto will draw the start at the keystone and bat seventh Wednesday.
Aug 16, 2022
Homers again in win
Lux went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a 4-0 victory against Milwaukee on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Lux's sixth-inning homer to left field put the final insurance runs on the board for Los Angeles. It was his second long ball in three days following a 22-game stretch without going deep. Lux's .296 season batting average is impressive but comes with only six homers. He'll see his fantasy value jump down the stretch if he's able to continue unlocking more power.
Aug 14, 2022
Swats solo shot
Lux went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Saturday's 13-3 win over the Royals.
ANALYSIS
Lux knocked in the Dodgers' fourth run of the the first inning with a single to right field, and he followed with a 431-foot solo shot to center in the third. The long ball ended a nearly month-long homer drought for the 24-year-old, though he's otherwise been fine with a .297/.384/.459 slash line since July 15. Lux's lack of power (he has just five homers on the campaign) hurts his fantasy value, but he's still worth rostering in most leagues given his .299 batting average and seven stolen bases on the campaign.
Aug 3, 2022
Breaks out of slump
Lux went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-5 victory over San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Lux knocked an RBI single and scored in the second inning, delivered an RBI fielder's choice in third and scored after tripling in the eighth to break an 0-for-11 stretch across his last four games. The successful performance raises Lux's slash line to .298/.373/.427 while he boasts 52 runs, 32 RBI, four home runs and six stolen bases.
Jul 31, 2022
Notches steal in win
Lux went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Lux has gone 0-for-7 with two walks in his last three games, a cold spell that followed a stretch of four multi-hit efforts in five contests. The 24-year-old was able to do alright with his one trip aboard Sunday, stealing third base and scoring on a James Outman double in the eighth inning. Lux owns a .299/.376/.425 slash line with four home runs, six steals, 30 RBI and a career-high 50 runs scored through 93 contests.
Jul 30, 2022
Riding pine Saturday
Lux is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
With southpaw Kyle Freeland on the hill for the Rockies, Lux will head to the bench in favor of righty-hitting Hanser Alberto. Lux is hitting .338/.429/.563 with two home runs, three triples and four doubles in 23 games this month.
Jul 29, 2022
Another three-hit effort
Lux went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 13-0 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Lux has found his swing again, posting multiple hits in four of the last five games. He contributed an RBI single and a run during the Dodgers' five-run fourth inning. The 24-year-old is hitting .307 -- the highest his average has been since April 17 -- with an .817 OPS, four home runs, 29 RBI, 49 runs scored, five stolen bases and 15 doubles through 90 contests. He should continue to see a near-everyday role at second base or in left field, especially considering how well he's done at the plate lately.
Jul 28, 2022
Three-hit game
Lux went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a 7-1 win over the Nationals on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Lux's three-hit performance against the Nationals punctuated his red-hot July. The 24-year-old second baseman has an OPS of 1.004 this month and is in the midst of a breakout season. His 2.8 Fangraphs WAR is equal to Pete Alonso's and a touch higher than those of Kyle Tucker and Vladimir Guerrero. Lux also has a BABIP of .363 so it is worth watching to see if his numbers regress over the remainder of the season.
Jul 25, 2022
Knocks in two runs Sunday
Lux went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI in Sunday's 7-4 victory against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Lux notched his first RBI of the contest with a single in the third inning and plated another run with a single in the seventh. The second baseman batted fifth in the order for the first time this season, though that may simply have been a result of Will Smith getting a day off and Justin Turner (abdomen) continuing to be unable to play. Regardless, Lux has hit well this season, as all three marks in his .295/.373/.424 slash line are a career high.
Jul 21, 2022
Not in Thursday's lineup
Lux isn't starting Thursday against the Giants, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux started the four games prior to the All-Star break and went 1-for-12 with a homer, three runs, two RBI, three walks and a strikeout. Hanser Alberto is taking over at the keystone and batting sixth.
Jul 15, 2022
Swats fourth homer
Lux went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Thursday's 4-0 victory versus the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Lux provided the final runs of the contest with his two-run shot to right field in the seventh inning. The homer was just the fourth of the season for Lux, who slugged 26 homers between Double-A and Triple-A in 2019. Despite the lack of power, he's enjoying a solid season at the plate, slashing .299/.373/.425 with 44 runs, 22 RBI and five stolen bases over 287 plate appearances. He's also done well to improve his strikeout rate to 17.8 percent while maintaining a 10.9 percent walk rate.
Jul 12, 2022
Not starting Tuesday
Lux is not in the lineup Tuesday versus St. Louis, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
ANALYSIS
Consecutive two-hit performances have Lux slashing .393/.485/.679 in nine games since the start of July. Hanser Alberto starts at second base with the left-handed Matthew Liberatore pitching for the Cardinals.
Jul 10, 2022
On base four times
Lux went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, one RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 11-9 win over the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Lux has gone 10-for-20 (.500) with five walks during his current seven-game hitting streak. He's recorded a home run, two triples, three RBI and three runs scored in that span. The 24-year-old's hot streak has added 18 points to his batting average, which is at .304 for the season. He's posted a .797 OPS, three homers, 20 RBI, 43 runs scored and five stolen bases through 77 contests, and it appears he's in position for an everyday role in the lineup with time at second base and in left field.
Jul 8, 2022
Slugs two-run homer
Lux went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a 5-3 victory over the Cubs on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Lux went deep to right field with a man on base in the second inning to give Los Angeles a 3-0 lead. The long ball was his first since June 10 -- a span of 21 games. Lux hasn't displayed much power with just three homers on the season, but he's been a solid contributor near the bottom of the order with a .295/.365/.409 slash line, 19 RBI, 41 runs and five stolen bases over 266 plate appearances.
Jul 4, 2022
Gets breather Monday
Lux is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
The Dodgers are employing a righty-heavy lineup against Rockies starter Kyle Freeland, so Lux will open Monday's game on the bench. Mookie Betts will man the keystone and Chris Taylor will get the start in left field.
Jul 1, 2022
Gets Friday off
Lux will sit Friday against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux sat only twice in June, but his first off day in July comes on the first day of the month. Mux Muncy will get the start at second base.
Jun 25, 2022
Resting Saturday
Lux isn't starting Saturday's game against Atlanta, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux recorded hits in six of the last seven games and hit .269 with a triple, three doubles, four runs and three RBI during that time. Hanser Alberto is starting at the keystone and batting seventh Saturday.
Jun 12, 2022
Day off Sunday
Lux will sit Sunday against San Francisco, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux has had far more than a platoon role this season, though when he does sit, it usually comes against a left-hander. He'll reste here against a particularly difficult one in Carlos Rodon, with Hanser Alberto taking over at the keystone.
Jun 11, 2022
Pops second homer
Lux went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off a four-hit game Thursday, Lux stayed locked in with his second homer of the year Friday. He last left the yard April 13, so it was an extended power drought that ended in this contest. The 24-year-old has done well with a contact-oriented approach, slashing .291/.372/.382 with two homers, 14 RBI, 33 runs scored, five stolen base, seven doubles and a triple in 52 contests this year. Lux's place in the lineup is fairly secure versus right-handed pitchers, and he's also found some playing time against lefties in 2022 without much deviation in his ratio stats.
Jun 10, 2022
Reaches base five times Thursday
Lux went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI in Thursday's 11-9 win over the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Lux notched the first four-hit game of his career, and he added a walk to become the first Dodger to reach base five times in a game this season, per independent baseball writer Blake Harris. The second baseman could have had an even more impressive fantasy line, but he was thrown out trying to steal in the third inning. Nonetheless, it was a nice turnaround for Lux after he had gone 2-for-15 with four strikeouts over his previous five games.

Notches another theft
Lux went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base Tuesday in a loss to the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Lux and Trea Turner were the only Dodgers to reach base more than once in the contest, and they both collected a stolen base. The theft was Lux's fifth of the season, with three coming in his past seven games. Continuing to take advantage of his 93rd-percentile sprint speed on the basepaths would boost Lux's fantasy profile considerably, as he's currently slashing a modest .265/.350/.335 with only one home run and 12 RBI.

Nabs steal Thursday
Lux wen 2-for-3 with a stolen base in Thursday's 2-0 win over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Lux knocked two singles in the contest, and he stole his fourth bag of the campaign in the third inning. The 24-year-old has collected multiple hits in two straight contests and in five of his past 10 games. Over that stretch, he is slashing .364/.447/.424 with seven runs, five walks and two thefts.
Jun 1, 2022
Swipes bag in loss
Lux went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Lux walked and stole second in the fourth inning. It was his first stolen base attempt since April 17, and it was his third theft of the year. The 24-year-old is now 0-for-5 in his last two games, dropping his slash line to .263/.346/.336 for the season. He's posted a home run, 12 RBI, 28 runs scored, five doubles and a triple through 156 plate appearances, maintaining a regular role in the lineup with playing time at second base and in left field lately.

Sitting Friday
Lux will sit Friday against the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Lux hits the bench after starting nine straight games at second base or left field, a stretch in which he hit .303/.378/.333. Hanser Alberto starts at second base Friday while Chris Taylor handles left field.
May 17, 2022
Sitting day game
Lux isn't starting Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Diamondbacks, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will take a seat against lefty Tyler Gilbert after starting two straight contests, going 2-for-7 over those games including a walk-off two-run double on Sunday. Max Muncy will start at second base while Hanser Alberto enters the lineup at third base and will bat ninth in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader.
May 16, 2022
Atones for error with walk-off hit
Lux went 1-for-3 with a double, a run, a walk and two RBI in a 5-4 win over Philadelphia on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Lux's poor defense looked like it would cost the Dodgers a win throughout most of the contest, as his second-inning error resulted in four Phillies unearned runs. However, the infielder made up for the miscue in the bottom of the ninth inning, smacking a two-out double that plated the winning runs for Los Angeles. It was the first time Lux has knocked in any runs since May 4, as his chances have been limited by batting at the bottom of the order.
May 14, 2022
Gets Saturday off
Lux will sit Saturday against the Phillies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux jumped out of the gate with a 1.128 OPS in his first seven games, but he's since stumbled to a .510 OPS over his last 21 contests. He'll sit after starting six straight games, with Hanser Alberto taking over at second base.
May 7, 2022
Not starting nightcap
Lux isn't starting the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Lux started in the first game of the twin bill and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Hanser Alberto will start at second base and bat ninth in the nightcap.
May 3, 2022
Out of Tuesday's lineup
Lux is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Giants, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux started the past six games and will receive a day off after going 5-for-18 with one run during that stretch. Hanser Alberto will start at the keystone at bat ninth in his place.
Apr 24, 2022
Day off versus lefty
Lux is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux started the past two contests after missing two games with back tightness, and he'll take a seat Sunday with southpaw Sean Manaea pitching for the Friars. Hanser Alberto will man the keystone in his place.
Apr 22, 2022
Returns to action Friday
Lux (back) is starting at second base and batting ninth Friday against the Padres, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with back tightness and also sat out Wednesday, but he'll rejoin the starting nine coming off Thursday's scheduled off day. The 24-year-old is off to a strong start in 2022 and has a .276/.405/.483 slash line with one home run, five RBI, nine runs and two stolen bases in 10 games.
Apr 20, 2022
Expected to return Friday
Lux (back), who isn't starting Wednesday against Atlanta, is expected to be back in the lineup Friday against the Padres, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will be on the bench for a second straight game to close out the series against Atlanta, but manager Dave Roberts is optimistic that the 24-year-old will be back in action for Friday's series opener in San Diego. Zach McKinstry was added to the Dodgers' taxi squad as a precautionary measure Wednesday, but it appears as though Lux will be back in action Friday following a relatively brief absence.
Apr 20, 2022
Sits again Wednesday
Lux (back) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He'll be on the bench for a second straight game, after he was scratched ahead of Tuesday's 3-1 loss due to back tightness. The Dodgers added Triple-A Oklahoma City utility man Zach McKinstry to their taxi squad Wednesday, and he could be formally added to the 28-man active roster if Lux's back issue is deemed significant enough to require a stint on the injured list.
Apr 19, 2022
Scratched with back tightness
Lux was removed from Tuesday's lineup versus Atlanta due to back tightness, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was penciled in to start in left field but will instead remain on the bench due to a back issue. Cody Bellinger, who was slated to receive a day off Tuesday, will replace him in the lineup. Lux should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.
Apr 18, 2022
Scores twice, swipes bag
Lux went 0-for-2 with two walks, two runs and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-1 win over Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Though Lux didn't notch any hits, he drew a pair of free passes to extend his season-opening on-base streak to nine games. The 24-year-old notched a solid 10.9 percent walk rate last season, but he has shown even more patience at the plate in 2022 by upping that rate to 21.9 percent, posting a 7:6 BB:K through 33 plate appearances. Lux has stood out among Dodgers hitters thus far with a .320/.455/.560 slash line, three extra-base hits (a double, triple and homer), five RBI and two steals. His Statcast numbers support the authenticity of the strong start, as Lux ranks in the top 10 percent leaguewide in average exit velocity, hard-hit percentage and xwOBA.
Apr 16, 2022
Registers first theft
Lux went 2-for-3 with a triple, walk, two RBI and a stolen base in a 3-1 triumph against the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Lux singled, stole second and scored in the third inning, tripled and scored in the fifth and walked in the sixth and the 24-year-old has now hit safely in all six starts. Lux swiped as many as 27 bases in the minors but the 10 he swiped between Double-A and Triple-A in 2019 should be a barometer for his thefts.
Apr 14, 2022
Gets breather Thursday
Lux isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux started in each of the first five games of the season and went 6-for-17 with a homer, a double, five RBI, four runs and two walks. However, he'll get a breather as Max Muncy shifts to the keystone while Hanser Alberto starts at third base.
Apr 13, 2022
Slugs first homer
Lux went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and three strikeouts Wednesday against the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Lux tallied his first long ball of the season in the middle of a trio of consecutive home runs for the Dodgers in the eighth inning. His lack of contact in other plate appearances was a bit alarming, but he had not struck out across his first four starts of the campaign. Overall, Lux has shown strong form early on, tallying six hits across 20 total plate appearances, while also recording two extra-base knocks.
Apr 13, 2022
Swinging hot bat
Lux went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a 7-2 win over the Twins on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Lux drove in the Dodgers' first run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and singled in Will Smith for the final tally in the team's six-run eighth frame. Lux leads Los Angeles with four RBI on the campaign and is tied for the team lead with five hits. He is slashing .417/.467/.500 over 15 plate appearances.
Apr 8, 2022
Drives in two runs
Lux went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks in Friday's 5-3 win over Colorado.
ANALYSIS
All five of the Dodgers' runs came in the fourth inning, starting with a two-run single by Lux. The 24-year-old looks to be in line for consistent playing time at second base this season. Once considered a top prospect, Lux posted a disappointing .692 OPS through 381 plate appearances last season.
Apr 1, 2022
Playing time opens up
Lux appears to have a clearer path to an everyday role than previously expected, as Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Dodgers traded away AJ Pollock for Craig Kimbrel on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Prior to the trade, Lux looked like the team's 10th-best bat. That role would have still resulted in plenty of playing time, both due to the Dodgers' frequent rotations and due to the fact that he was one injury away from being part of the default starting nine. A true starting role is obviously preferable, however, and it looks like he should have one now. Lux has played some left field himself, though it's perhaps more likely that Chris Taylor moves out to left field while Lux starts at second base. Lux's career .233/.314/.368 slash line doesn't exactly look the part of an everyday player for a contender, but the trade seemingly demonstrates the Dodgers' faith in him, something which seems reasonable given that he was a highly-touted prospect and is still just 24 years old.
Feb 10, 2022
Could benefit from universal DH
Lux could be in line for more playing time next season after commissioner Rob Manfred announced Thursday that the owners had agreed to a universal designated hitter, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Exactly who benefits most from the rule change on each National League team won't become fully clear until the lockout ends and the remaining free agents are signed, but Lux appears to be an obvious candidate for more at-bats. While he's a competent defender who's unlikely to spend much time at the spot himself, he's also the next man up at several positions around the diamond. Unless the Dodgers bring in a dedicated designated hitter once free agency resumes, their roster appears set up to rotate several veterans like Justin Turner, AJ Pollock and Max Muncy (elbow) through the position, with Lux covering for the resting player as needed or perhaps starting the majority of games at second base, freeing up Chris Taylor to bounce around the diamond.
Oct 23, 2021
Still not starting
Lux isn't starting Game 6 of the NLCS against Atlanta on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Lux will remain out of the lineup for a second straight contest but should be available off the bench. Cody Bellinger will start in center field while Matt Beaty takes over at first base.
Oct 21, 2021
Not starting Thursday
Lux isn't starting Game 5 of the NLCS against Atlanta on Thursday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux went 1-for-9 with a stolen base, two walks and a strikeout across the first four games of the NLCS. Cody Bellinger will shift to center field while Albert Pujols starts at first base.
Oct 6, 2021
On bench for start of playoffs
Lux is out of the lineup Wednesday for the Dodgers' wild-card game against the Cardinals, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing three consecutive games with a neck stinger, Lux was available off the bench for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Brewers, going 0-for-1 with a walk while seeing action in right field. Prior to developing the injury, Lux had started six consecutive games in center field, but Cody Bellinger will patrol that spot in the wild-card contest while being flanked by AJ Pollock and Mookie Betts. The trio of Pollock, Betts and Bellinger is expected to form the Dodgers' primary outfield combination against right-handed pitching throughout the postseason, though Lux or Chris Taylor could replace Bellinger against left-handed starters.
Oct 4, 2021
Returns to action Sunday
Lux (neck) went 0-for-1 with a walk and played right field during Sunday's win over Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Lux missed three straight games while dealing with a neck stinger, but he was able to return for Sunday's season finale. The 23-year-old came into the contest in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement in right field and struck out against Josh Hader in his first at-bat before drawing a walk in the eighth. While Lux slashed a modest .242/.328/.364 on the campaign, he looked like a different player after returning from the minors Sept. 10, slashing .360/.467/.500 with a home run, nine RBI, a stolen base and a 9:8 BB:K over his final 17 games. Manager Dave Roberts indicated that Lux will be counted on to make an impact in the postseason, stating, "I don't know when he'll start, if he'll start, but I do know that we value him, I value him, and he's going to impact us through the postseason," per Matthew Moreno of Dodger Blue.
Oct 2, 2021
Still not starting
Lux (neck) isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Milwaukee, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux suffered a neck stinger in Wednesday's win over the Padres and hasn't appeared in either of the last two games. Whether he's available off the bench Saturday remains to be seen.
Oct 1, 2021
Remains out of lineup
Lux (neck) isn't starting Friday's game against the Brewers, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will be out of the lineup for a second straight game as he continues to deal with a neck stinger, but the team doesn't sound too concerned with his long-term availability. Trea Turner will start at second base while Chris Taylor starts in center field.
Sep 30, 2021
Could come off bench
Lux (neck) may be available off the bench Thursday against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was out of the starting lineup due to a neck issue after colliding with the center-field wall in Wednesday's game. However, manager Dave Roberts was optimistic about how Lux felt when he got to the ballpark Thursday, so Lux could enter the game as a substitute. More importantly for the Dodgers, it doesn't appear as though the issue will affect Lux's availability for the postseason.
Sep 30, 2021
Not starting Thursday
Lux (neck) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Lux was removed from Wednesday's win over San Diego due to a neck stinger, and he'll be held out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available off the bench, but Trea Turner will start at second base while AJ Pollock starts in left field.
Sep 30, 2021
Dealing with neck stinger
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described the injury Lux sustained in Wednesday's 11-9 win over the Padres as a "neck stinger," Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux looked as though he injured his right shoulder when he collided with the center-field wall while chasing down a fly ball in the sixth inning, but Roberts offered a different diagnosis for the 23-year-old after the contest. Roberts indicated Lux will be re-evaluated early Thursday, but it wouldn't be surprising if he was held out of the series finale with the Padres later in the day even if the neck issue is viewed as a day-to-day concern.
Sep 30, 2021
Leaves after collision
Lux collided with the outfield wall attempting to make a catch during the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the Padres and was removed with an apparent right shoulder injury, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux made his first start in center field last week and started his sixth straight game there Wednesday, and his experience showed a bit versus the Padres. The severity of the injury remains unclear, and the 23-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.
Sep 23, 2021
Making first start in center field
Lux will bat eighth and play center field against the Rockies on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
With Cody Bellinger (ribs) on the injured list and Chris Taylor sidelined by a neck issue, the Dodgers have elected to give Lux his first major-league action in center Thursday at Coors Field. AJ Pollock is also starting in the outfield for the first time in over two weeks, but manager Dave Roberts stated that he wants to keep Pollock out of center field for the time being due to his recent hamstring injury, per Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times. Though Lux's natural position is in the infield, his ability to play the outfield could help keep his hot bat in the lineup on a near-everyday basis. Since rejoining the Dodgers on Sept. 10, Lux is slashing .438/.514/.656 with a home run, nine RBI and nine runs in 10 games.
Sep 19, 2021
Homers, drives in three
Lux went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's 8-5 win over the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Lux took Wade Miley deep for a two-run shot in the second inning and added an RBI single in the third. Since being promoted from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sep. 10, the 23-year-old has gone 11-for-24 (.458) with three extra-base hits and eight RBI. Lux has seven homers and 45 RBI through 350 plate appearances this season.
Sep 18, 2021
Socks triple in win
Lux went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI triple and a run scored in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Reds. He also drew a walk.
ANALYSIS
Lux came through with the big hit for the Dodgers on Saturday, mashing a two-RBI triple off Sonny Gray that got Los Angeles on the board in the fifth inning. After missing Friday's game with a forearm injury thanks to being beaned by the pitching machine, it looks like Lux is feeling A-OK.
Sep 18, 2021
Back ahead of schedule
Lux (forearm) will bat seventh and play left field Saturday against the Reds, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was scratched from the lineup ahead of Friday's series opener after a ball from a pitching machine struck him in the forearm. Previous reports indicated he'd be on the bench all weekend, but he's evidently healed faster than expected. His absence could be related to Cody Bellinger's non-displaced rib fracture, which will keep Bellinger on the bench Saturday and potentially longer.
Sep 17, 2021
Won't start during weekend series
Lux (forearm) was hit by a ball from a pitching machine during pregame batting practice Friday and will not start during the Dodgers' weekend series against the Reds, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
X-rays were negative on Lux's forearm, so it appears he avoided a serious injury. Even so, he's already been ruled out from the starting lineup for the next two games, though he may be available off the bench. Chris Taylor (neck) returned to pinch-hit in Friday's contest, so he could slot in at left field for the time being.
Sep 17, 2021
Scratched from Friday's lineup
Lux was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Reds due to an undisclosed reason.
ANALYSIS
The reason for Lux no longer starting has yet to been revealed, but the club figures to provide an update later Friday. Matt Beaty enters the lineup as the new left fielder.
Sep 12, 2021
Gets third straight start in left
Lux will start in left field and bat eighth Sunday against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Even with a lefty (Blake Snell) on the mound for San Diego, the lefty-hitting Lux will be awarded the start in the outfield over the lefty-hitting Cody Bellinger, whom manager Dave Roberts has become increasingly reluctant to use versus same-handed pitching. An infielder by trade, Lux will be making his third consecutive start in left field, and he could continue to see more work in the outfield if Chris Taylor (neck) misses additional time. Lux went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI in Saturday's 5-4 win.
Sep 12, 2021
Perfect at the dish
Lux went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI in Saturday's 5-4 victory over the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Starting in left field for the second consecutive game, Lux doubled home a run and scored in the third inning and singled and scored in the fifth. The 23-year-old's two hits were half the Dodgers' total and his first hits since July 16, though that span only encompasses six big league games. There's a slight chance Lux could earn outfield eligibility with just a few games left in the season and only the two recent appearances thus far.
Sep 10, 2021
Starting in left field
Lux is starting in left field in Friday's game against the Padres, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux's path toward playing time in the infield is limited behind Trea Turner, Corey Seager and Justin Turner, but he'll make his third career start in the outfield to give Cody Bellinger a breather amid his 0-for-23 slump. If Bellinger continues to struggle at the plate, Lux will likely be in line for increased at-bats in the outfield.
Sep 10, 2021
Recalled by Dodgers
Lux was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Lux spent just over two weeks in the minors and hit .261 with a home run, three doubles, 10 runs and eight RBI in 10 games during that time. The 23-year-old will serve as depth in the Dodgers' infield.
Aug 26, 2021
Sent to minors
Lux was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was sent down as the team activated Mookie Betts and also needed arms out of the bullpen after a 16-inning marathon Wednesday. However, manager Dave Roberts also said that Lux would benefit from everyday at-bats, something he wouldn't get with the big-league club. Roberts also noted the possibility that Lux would return to the Dodgers in September, but that's not a given as rosters expand to only 28 spots rather than 40 as was the case in past seasons.
Aug 22, 2021
Sitting in fourth straight
Lux remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux picked up a start at third base and second base in his first two games after returning Tuesday from the 10-day injured list, but he'll be on the bench for a fourth straight contest Sunday. The 23-year-old's path to a regular role will likely become further blocked by the end of next week, when Chris Taylor is expected to settle in ahead of Lux as the Dodgers' top utility men upon Mookie Betts' (hip) return from the 10-day injured list.
Aug 17, 2021
Returns from injured list
Lux (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and will start at third base against the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Lux appeared in seven games for Triple-A Oklahoma City during his rehab assignment over the past week, and he'll rejoin the active roster ahead of Tuesday's contest versus Pittsburgh. The 23-year-old was locked into an everyday role before going down with the hamstring injury in mid-July, and he now appears to be the odd man out in the infield with Corey Seager healthy and Trea Turner joining the mix at the trade deadline. It will be Lux's first start at third base in the majors and indicates the Dodgers will try him out in a utility role. However, he's unlikely to be much of an asset for fantasy managers while third baseman Justin Turner, Seager and Trea Turner remain healthy.
Aug 8, 2021
Kicks off rehab assignment
Lux (hamstring) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He'll start at second base and bat second for Oklahoma City in what marks his first game action since July 18. Before his strained left hamstring resulted in a trip to the injured list, Lux had been serving as an everyday player in the middle infield, but with Corey Seager beating him back from the IL and with the Dodgers acquiring Trea Turner from the Nationals at the trade deadline, the 23-year-old no longer has a path to a regular role with the big club. After posting a modest .656 OPS over his 313 plate appearances on the season, Lux may not even be the next man up for work at second base or shortstop, as super-utility man Chris Taylor (.872 OPS) is a likelier candidate to fill any potential void.

Nearing rehab assignment
Lux (hamstring) is rehabbing at the Dodgers' spring-training facility and will begin a rehab assignment soon, Michael J. Duarte of NBC LA reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux has been taking batting practice and sprinting, and he recently indicated that his recovery from a strained left hamstring is going better than expected. A specific date for the start of his rehab assignment has not been determined, but he remains likely to return to the big club in early August. It's unclear where Lux will fit in once he returns, however, as Corey Seager (hand) is slated to return to action Friday and the recently-acquired Trea Turner may be able to come off the COVID-19 injured list within the next week.
Jul 19, 2021
Lands on injured list
Lux was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday with a strained left hamstring.
ANALYSIS
Lux was diagnosed with a mild hamstring straing after exiting Sunday's loss to the Rockies and he'll be sidelined for at least the next 10 days. The Dodgers have yet to offer a return timeline for the 23-year-old, but it could be a brief stay on the shelf if the additional testing confirms it to be a mild strain.
Jul 18, 2021
Slated for additional testing
Lux (hamstring) is dealing with a mild strain after exiting Sunday's loss to the Rockies, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday's game that Lux could miss a couple days while he recovers, but he'll undergo further testing to determine the extent of the issue. Chris Taylor and Zach McKinstry could see time at shortstop if the 23-year-old is ultimately sidelined, and he should be considered day-to-day for now.
Jul 18, 2021
Exits with apparent hamstring issue
Lux was removed from Sunday's game against the Rockies in the bottom of the ninth inning due to an apparent left hamstring injury, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux grounded out to end the top of the ninth inning, and he appeared to grab his left hamstring as he ran out of the batter's box. He was able to limp off the field under his own power, but he was replaced defensively in the bottom half of the frame. Prior to Lux's departure, he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Whether the injury forces him to miss additional time remains to be seen.
Jul 17, 2021
Heads to bench
Lux will sit Saturday against the Rockies, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was given plenty of chances against southpaws early in the season, but his off day against lefty Kyle Freeland on Saturday means he's now sat against five of the last six the Dodgers have faced. His overall .231/.312/.355 slash line on the season doesn't exactly make a strong case for an everyday role. Chris Taylor starts at shortstop in his absence.
Jul 11, 2021
Drives in three
Lux went 1-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 22-1 win over the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Lux was held out of the lineup Saturday, but thanks to the Dodgers racing out to an early 9-0 lead, multiple starters were pulled from the contest early. That allowed Lux to receive a relative normal load of at-bats in a bench role, and he was able to match his RBI total from his prior 18 games combined when he tripled with the bases loaded in the eighth inning. The 23-year-old infielder is now slashing .233/.316/.361 across 301 plate appearances on the season.
Jul 10, 2021
On bench Saturday
Lux is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against Arizona, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux sits against southpaw Caleb Smith, meaning he's now been on the bench against four of the last five lefties the Dodgers have faced. Chris Taylor starts at shortstop in his absence.
Jul 7, 2021
Not starting Wednesday
Lux isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux had started each of the last five games, and he went 6-for-17 with two doubles, three runs, two RBI, a stolen base and two walks. He'll get a breather Wednesday while Chris Taylor starts at shortstop and Albert Pujols enters the lineup at first base.
Jul 5, 2021
Tallies three hits Sunday
Lux went 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice in Sunday's 5-1 win over Washington.

The 23-year-old notched his first three-hit performance of the season in the win and collected his second double in as many games. Lux is batting only .237 this season but has started to pick things up, going 6-for-18 (.333) with four runs and two stolen bases over his past six games.
Jul 4, 2021
Notches stolen base, RBI
Lux went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Lux came through with a two-out double in the fourth inning to plate the Dodgers' third run. He also walked, stole second base and scored in the ninth. The 23-year-old snapped a five-game stretch without an RBI and notched his first extra-base hit since June 13.
Jul 1, 2021
Not in Thursday's lineup
Lux isn't starting Thursday's game against the Nationals, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux hasn't been very effective at the plate recently, as he's gone just 2-for-25 with a run, an RBI, a stolen base, six walks and six strikeouts across the last nine games. Chris Taylor will start at shortstop and bat second.
Jun 28, 2021
Swipes bag, scores in win
Lux went 1-for-3 with a run scored, a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Lux walked in the second inning and scored on Zach McKinstry's grand slam. Also, he stole second base in the fifth inning for his second steal of the season. Prior to Sunday, Lux was hitless in his last seven games. This season, he is slashing .230/.312/.361 with six home runs, 32 RBI and 34 runs in 260 plate appearances.
Jun 22, 2021
Sits against lefty
Lux is not starting Tuesday's game against the Padres, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux, who has hit just .158 in 57 at-bats against lefties this season, gets the night off as the Dodgers face southpaw Blake Snell. The infielder has hit .281 with a home run and six RBI in his last nine games. Chris Taylor fills in at shortstop Tuesday, with Max Muncy playing second base in his first game off the injured list.
Jun 12, 2021
Sitting versus left-hander
Lux is not in the starting lineup for Saturdays game against the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
With the Dodgers set to face southpaw Kolby Allard, Lux will get the beginning portion of Saturday's tilt off. Chris Taylor will start at shortstop and bat second.
Jun 12, 2021
Homer, four RBI
Lux went 2-for-4 with a double, home run, walk, two runs and four RBI as Los Angeles dispatched Texas 12-2 Friday.
ANALYSIS
Lux three-run home run in the first capped a six-run inning and he later tacked on an RBI double in the third for his 13th multi-hit game of the season. All six of Lux's homers have come in the past month as his power has drastically improved since April.
Jun 1, 2021
Socks two homers
Lux went 2-for-4 with two home runs in Monday's win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Lux recorded his first multi-hit game since May 23, and perhaps coincidentally, that was the last time he belted a home run as well. The second baseman has settled as a regular this season but his numbers aren't eye-popping by any means -- he's only hitting .247 with a .701 OPS across 168 plate appearances.
May 27, 2021
Not starting Thursday
Lux isn't starting Thursday's game against the Giants, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will get a breather after he went 0-for-3 with a walk Wednesday. Chris Taylor will start at shortstop while Albert Pujols enters the lineup at first base.
May 24, 2021
Leads way with four RBI
Lux went 2-for-5 with a grand slam in Sunday's 11-5 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Lux capped off a seven-run third inning with a grand slam to right-center to put the Dodgers up 10-0. It was his second grand slam over the last six games. The 23-year-old has turned things around at the plate this month, slashing .324/.375/.500 with three home runs, 16 RBI and 10 runs scored. Lux should continue to be slotted toward the top of the batting order for the foreseeable future while he's on at the plate and with Corey Seager (hand) on the injured list for another few weeks.
May 19, 2021
Launches grand slam
Lux went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in a win over Arizona on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Lux broke open a close game with a bases-loaded blast in the bottom of the seventh inning off reliever Kevin Ginkel. The grand slam was the first of his big-league career. Lux has been heating up at the plate of late, going 10-for-25 with two homers and 10 RBI over his past seven games.
May 16, 2021
Set to work at shortstop
Lux will start at shortstop Sunday against the Marlins and will see regular time there with Corey Seager (hand) sidelined, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old has played shortstop a handful of times through the first six weeks of the season, but he'll now take on the starting role with Seager out for at least the next four weeks. Chris Taylor also figures to see increased time, whether it be at shortstop or second base.
May 12, 2021
Blasts game-winning homer
Lux went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Lux singled and scored in the seventh inning, but his big hit came in the following frame. With two outs in the eighth and Los Angeles down a run, the third-year second baseman took Rafael Montero deep to plate three runs and vault his team toward a come-from-behind win. The blast was among the biggest hits of Lux's young career considering the context and the fact that a struggling Dodgers club was in danger of falling to .500 on the season. It also helped build upon a recent strong stretch at the plate for Lux, who is hitting .323 (10-for-31) with five RBI over his past eight games.
Apr 29, 2021
Heads to bench
Lux is out of the lineup for Thursday's game in Milwaukee, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With a lefty (Eric Lauer) on the mound for the Brewers, Lux will sit in favor of Sheldon Neuse, who picks up a start at second base. After being activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Lux started in all three of the Dodgers' games against Cincinnati to begin the week, going 1-for-12 with six strikeouts.
Apr 27, 2021
Knocks in RBI in loss
Lux went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Lux made his return to the lineup Monday after he was activated from the 10-day injured list following a stint with a sore right wrist. The 23-year-old was able to get the Dodgers on the scoreboard in the fourth when he hit a sharp ground ball that found a hole on the right side and scored Chris Taylor from second. It was encouraging to see Lux make an immediate impact in his first game back from injury after he only managed one hit in his final 17 at-bats before taking a trip to the injured list.
Apr 22, 2021
Nearing return
Lux (wrist) will take at-bats at the alternate site Friday and is expected to be activated from the injured list Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux also participated in fielding drills with no trouble, so it appears his recovery is going as expected. He's been out of the lineup since April 15 and was officially placed on the injured list three days later. Upon his return, Lux should return to regular at-bats at second base, which will likely put a squeeze on Zach McKinstry's playing time.
Apr 18, 2021
Lands on IL
The Dodgers placed Lux (wrist) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux's sore right wrist hadn't been showing much improvement since he was scratched ahead of Thursday's game against the Rockies with the injury, so the Dodgers opted to deactivate him in favor of Sheldon Neuse, who will give the team a healthy body in the infield. Manager Dave Roberts said that Zach McKinstry, Chris Taylor and Sheldon Neuse are all candidates to pick up starts at the keystone while Lux is sidelined.
Apr 17, 2021
Remains out Saturday
Lux (wrist) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Padres, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old was scratched from Thursday's lineup with soreness in his right wrist and is out of action for the third straight game. Manager Dave Roberts said Lux progressed to swinging the bat at about 70 percent Saturday, so there's a chance he's available for Sunday's series finale in San Diego.
Apr 16, 2021
Still sidelined Friday
Lux (wrist) isn't starting Friday's game against the Padres, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Rockies due to a sore right wrist. Zach McKinstry will start at second base for Friday's series opener against San Diego, batting seventh.
Apr 15, 2021
Dealing with wrist soreness
Lux was scratched from Thursday's lineup with right wrist soreness, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
There was originally no reason attached to Lux's removal from the lineup. It's unclear whether the injury will keep him out beyond Thursday's contest, but he will have the chance to immediately return to the field on Friday as the Dodgers begin a series in San Diego.
Apr 15, 2021
Scratched from Thursday's lineup
Lux was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Rockies, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was in the original lineup and it's not clear what caused the change. As a result of his absence, Max Muncy shifts to second base with Edwin Rios drawing the start at first base.
Apr 5, 2021
Sits for first time
Lux will sit for the first time this season Monday against Oakland.
ANALYSIS
The Dodgers indicated that Lux would play a significant role this season, and that was true in the opening series against the Rockies. He started all four games, going 6-for-16 with a steal, three runs and three RBI. He won't start everyday, however, with Chris Taylor getting the start at second base Monday.
Apr 4, 2021
Swipes bag, scores twice
Lux went 1-for-4 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's victory over Colorado.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old led off the seventh inning with his second triple in as many games and subsequently crossed the plate on Corey Seager's single. Lux has started each of the Dodgers' first three contests this season, going 5-for-13 with a pair of RBI along with the two triples. He appears locked in as the team's everyday second baseman.
Apr 3, 2021
Collects two hits Friday
Lux went 2-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's win over Colorado.
ANALYSIS
Lux's fifth-inning triple was the second of his career and accounted for his second RBI of the campaign. After a disappointing 2020 season that didn't end with a Rookie of the Year coronation as many expected, Lux appears to have secured a near-everyday role as Los Angeles' starting second baseman. The 23-year-old is off to a strong start, going 4-for-9 through his first two games.
Mar 29, 2021
Delivers first spring homer
Lux went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the spring Sunday in the Dodgers' 6-5 Cactus League loss to the Angels.
ANALYSIS
Lux's home run came off southpaw Andrew Heaney, a welcome sign for a player who has thus far recorded just one hit over 23 career regular-season plate appearances against left-handed pitchers. With an .894 OPS this spring, Lux appears on track to break camp with the big club this season after the Dodgers chose to leave him at the alternate training site coming out of summer camp in 2020. While Lux's well-rounded offensive skill set gives him a high fantasy ceiling, the presence of Chris Taylor may make it difficult for the youngster to begin the season as anything more than part-time player. The two have typically alternated starts at the keystone throughout the spring, with both typically batting in the bottom third of the Los Angeles lineup.
Mar 9, 2021
Thriving in Cactus League play
Lux is hitting .455 (5-for-11) with a pair of RBI in four spring contests.
ANALYSIS
Four of Lux's five hits have gone for singles, but that hasn't reduced the organization's outlook for the 23-year-old. After spending much of 2020 at the team's alternate training site, Lux has a legitimate shot at claiming the lead role at second base by Opening Day, especially if he can continue showing that his bat is ready for the big leagues throughout the spring.
Mar 3, 2021
Regular role on tap
Manager Dave Roberts said Lux will play regularly this season, and the team isn't "too concerned" with him facing left-handed pitching, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old appeared to be in line for the starting spot at the keystone in 2020, but he didn't make the Opening Day roster and ended up with a .595 OPS in only 69 plate appearances. The offseason departures of Enrique Hernandez and Joc Pederson opened up significant playing time in Los Angeles, and if Roberts' comments are any indication, Lux will have the chance to earn the starting job at second base to open 2021. Early success against left-handers could keep him in an everyday role rather than being limited to the strong side of a platoon.
Oct 12, 2020
Removed from NLCS roster
The Dodgers optioned Lux to their taxi squad Monday ahead of Game 1 of the club's NLCS matchup with the Braves, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will cede his spot on the 28-man roster to Alex Wood, as manager Dave Roberts prioritized another left-handed option out of the bullpen over an extra middle infielder on the bench. The 22-year-old saw action in one game of the Dodgers' NLDS sweep of the Padres last week, striking out in his lone plate appearance.
Oct 6, 2020
Back on roster for NLDS
Lux was added back to the Dodgers' roster ahead of the NLDS against the Padres, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux didn't play much this season and did very little with his opportunities, hitting .175/.246/.349 in 19 games. He'll be at least an option off the bench in this series, taking the spot that had belonged to Edwin Rios.
Sep 30, 2020
Off roster for wild-card round
Lux isn't included on the Dodgers' 28-man roster for the team's wild-card series with the Brewers that begins Wednesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux closed out the regular season by going 4-for-31 while striking out in 28.1 percent of his plate appearances over his final 10 games, and that poor finish may have cost him a spot on the roster for the wild-card round. The Dodgers elected to keep Enrique Hernandez, Edwin Rios and Matt Beaty over Lux as reserve infield options.
Sep 19, 2020
Lifts third homer
Lux went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 15-6 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Lux gave the Dodgers a 4-0 lead in the second inning with his two-run blast off Rockies starter Ryan Castellani. In the seventh, Lux got aboard on a fielder's choice and came around to score on a Mookie Betts triple. The homer was Lux's third of the year to go with eight RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base in 14 contests. He was able to snap a 0-for-14 dry spell he had over his previous four games.
Sep 15, 2020
Not in Tuesday's lineup
Lux is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux sits for the fourth time in the last five games. Two of those have come against righties like Tuesday's starter, Zach Davies. With a .163/.250/.349 slash line on the season, it wouldn't be a surprise if his role remains somewhat marginal, though those numbers have come in a small sample of just 12 games. Chris Taylor will be the second baseman Tuesday.
Sep 13, 2020
Out of Sunday's lineup
Lux is not in the lineup Sunday against the Astros, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will return to the bench after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts while serving as the designated hitter Saturday. Chris Taylor receives the start at second base for Los Angeles in the series finale.
Sep 10, 2020
Not starting Thursday
Lux isn't in Thursday's lineup against the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
After going 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI on Tuesday, Lux went hitless with one RBI and one strikeout over five at-bats Wednesday. He'll get a breather for the series finale as Mookie Betts shifts to second base with Enrique Hernandez starting in right field.
Sep 9, 2020
Breaks out with two long balls
Lux went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
The first shot was an opposite field wall scraper, while his second long ball was a towering shot to right field in the 10th inning. The Dodgers' top prospect had a .480 OPS with zero home runs and one steal in 27 at-bats prior to Tuesday's exploits, but now his OPS sits at .793. He has been particularly good of late, hitting .333 with six runs and five RBI over his last 15 at-bats. Lux has made four straight starts, all against right-handed pitchers.
Aug 31, 2020
Collects first hits of campaign
Lux went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's win over the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Lux entered the contest having gone hitless over his first seven at-bats but got off the schneid with a fourth inning single before doubling in the sixth. The rookie is expected to play on an everyday basis against right-handed pitchers, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports.
Aug 29, 2020
Receiving callup
Lux is being called up by the Dodgers on Saturday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It was only a matter of time before Lux was finally recalled to the major league squad. He is the Dodgers' top prospect and one of the top overall prospects in all of baseball and should figure to assume the everyday role at second base. Chris Taylor figures to be his backup at the position but could still find starts at other spots around the diamond.
Aug 27, 2020
Rejoins taxi squad
Lux was placed back on the taxi squad after serving as the 29th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux started Game 2 of the twin bill and went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts. The 22-year-old will rejoin the Dodger's taxi squad and should remain the top option to nab a roster spot if Los Angeles needs another infielder.
Aug 27, 2020
Available as 29th man
Lux is starting at second base as the 29th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux will make his 2020 debut as part of the starting lineup for the second game of Thursday's twin bill. While his time on the major-league roster is currently only for the team's doubleheader, he'll likely remain on the taxi squad afterward.
Aug 26, 2020
Joins taxi squad
The Dodgers included Lux on their five-man taxi squad for their six-game road trip that began Tuesday in San Francisco, J.P. Hoonstra of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux has yet to make his 2020 debut after a poor showing in summer camp prompted Los Angeles to leave him off its Opening Day roster and send him to the alternate training site for further development time. Manager Dave Roberts suggested the Dodgers have been pleased with the progress the 22-year-old has made of late, with Lux notably taking pitcher Tony Gonsolin deep twice in an intrasquad game Monday. Lux could be at the top of the list for a promotion if the Dodgers require another infielder at some point, though it's unclear if he would immediately unseat Chris Taylor as the club's top option at the keystone.
Aug 6, 2020
Exclusion not service-time issue
According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Lux's absence from the 30-man roster is entirely based on his lack of readiness for game action, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. "First of all, there is no conspiracy theory of holding Gavin Lux down, for any other reason besides that we don't feel he's ready right now," Roberts stated Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Speculation about service-time considerations tend to pop up when top prospects who have proven themselves in the minors are kept out of the big leagues at the start of the season. The skepticism is arguably more intense with Lux due to the fact that he played a key role on the major-league squad late last season and into the playoffs, leading many to assume that he would be anointed the Dodgers' everyday second baseman for the 2020 campaign. However, Lux missed the beginning of summer camp for undisclosed reasons and didn't start any of the team's three exhibition contests, leading to his move to the Dodgers' alternate training site before the start of the regular season. There's little doubt that Lux will return to the big-league squad at some point this season, though substantial playing time is not a given with veteran utilitymen Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernandez both holding their own to start the campaign.
Aug 2, 2020
Nearing callup
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts suggested Sunday that Lux is "getting closer" to receiving a callup from the team's alternate training site, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After a delayed arrival to summer camp and a slew of lackluster showings in workouts upon reporting, Lux was dispatched to Los Angeles' alternate camp shortly before Opening Day. The demotion was never expected to be a permanent one for Lux, who is beginning to get into a groove at the dish while taking live at-bats daily at the alternate training site, according to Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA. While Lux should eventually be back with the Dodgers and factor into the mix for starts at second base, he could have to settle for more of a part-time role with both Enrique Hernandez and Chris Taylor off to nice starts to the season.
Jul 21, 2020
Won't make Opening Day roster
Lux was optioned by the Dodgers on Tuesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In somewhat of a surprising move, the highly-talented young infielder won't be part of the Dodgers' Opening Day roster. The 22-year-old didn't do a ton in his 23-game debut last season, hitting a modest .240/.305/.400, but it's not clear that he has anything left to prove in the minors, as he hit an incredible .392/.478/.719 in 49 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. It's likely that this move was made primarily because Lux wasn't able to report to camp until July 10 for undisclosed reasons. There's still a good chance he fills a major role for the Dodgers this season once he's in game shape.
Jul 20, 2020
Not starting again Monday
Lux isn't in the lineup for Monday's exhibition game against the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Lux arrived late to camp but was able to participate in intrasquad action following his arrival. However, he hasn't been in the starting lineup for either of the team's two exhibition games ahead of Opening Day on Thursday. It's unclear whether his early absence is preventing his availability, but he may not be the starting second baseman to begin the season, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Jul 11, 2020
Ready to play Sunday
Lux will participate in Sunday's intrasquad game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux missed the first few days of camp, but he's since cleared intake testing and has been back with his teammates for the last two days. He didn't jump straight into intrasquad action, but the fact that he'll play Sunday is certainly a good sign. Whether or not he'll be in game shape for Opening Day against the Giants just 11 days later remains to be seen.
Jul 10, 2020
Won't play in Friday's matchup
Lux won't play in Friday's intrasquad matchup, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux reported to camp Friday and was initially anticipated to plat in the team's intrasquad game. However, manager Dave Roberts said that he'll have the 22-year-old participate in workouts for several days prior to joining game action. Despite his absence from Friday's lineup, he doesn't have any known injury or illness concerns preventing him from playing.
Jul 10, 2020
Arrives at camp
Lux (undisclosed) has reported to the Dodgers' camp and will play second base during Friday's intrasquad matchup, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was absent from camp for the first several days for an undisclosed reason, but his presence in the starting lineup Friday signals that he's cleared intake testing. Whether Lux's absence will impact his readiness for the start of the regular season remains to be seen. The Dodgers are scheduled to open the season against the Giants on July 23.
Jul 6, 2020
Yet to report
Lux has yet to report to camp, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
If Lux's absence is due to COVID-19, the Dodgers wouldn't legally be allowed to confirm as much. Manager Dave Roberts didn't provide any details Monday. An absence for Lux at the start of the season would likely translate to more at-bats for Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernandez at second base.
Apr 21, 2020
Utilizing various workout resources
Lux has been staying sharp during MLB's hiatus by working out at a friend's gym and taking batting practice at his high school field, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux has been slowed but not stopped by the suspension of play as he continues to work out for about two hours per day in order to stay ready for a potential resumption of play. When he isn't able to make the long drive to the gym (his friend has lent Lux a key so that he can work out alone) or hit outdoors (Lux lives in Wisconsin, where April can include harsh weather), the 22-year-old works out using dumbbells in a makeshift home gym. While Lux is not guaranteed to make the Dodgers' Opening Day roster, he's expected to play a major role on the squad at some point during the 2020 campaign.
Mar 17, 2020
Roster spot in question
Lux could begin the season in the minor leagues, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lux was widely considered to be a lock for the starting second-base job entering spring training, but he logged only four starts at the position in Cactus League play while primarily focusing on reworking his swing. Though the 22-year-old did hit a solid .276 in spring contests, the Dodgers have a plethora of veteran options at second base -- including Max Muncy, Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernandez -- so they may elect to keep Lux in the minors at the start of the season in order to take advantage of his service-time clock.
Feb 23, 2020
Not a lock for starting role
Lux has not yet cemented a role as the Dodgers' primary second baseman, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Although Lux remains the favorite to handle starting duties at the keystone, manager Dave Roberts "stopped short" of handing the role to the 22-year-old at this point in spring training. Los Angeles has a number of alternate options at the position -- including veterans Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernandez -- should Lux falter.
