Optioned to Triple-A
Gaddis was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis was recalled ahead of his start Thursday. He pitched three scoreless innings versus the Orioles, but was taken out after taking a hit off of his leg. With Shane Bieber (elbow) returning from the 60-day injured list, the 25-year-old was optioned back down.

Goes three innings in start
Gaddis allowed a hit and two walks while striking out one over three scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Orioles on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis ended up covering the most innings of any Cleveland pitcher, but it was more of an opening assignment. He made just two appearances with Triple-A Columbus while he was with the affiliate for three weeks, allowing two runs over 7.2 innings. In the majors, he has a pedestrian 4.50 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 24:14 K:BB across 42 innings over 11 appearances (seven starts). With Shane Bieber (elbow) and Triston McKenzie (elbow) returning and the Guardians having two off days next week, Gaddis will probably not be needed to start again in 2023.

Recalled for start Thursday
Gaddis was recalled from Triple-A Columbus ahead of his start Thursday versus the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis has struggled to a 6.14 ERA in 73.1 innings this season at the Triple-A level and owns an ugly 6.99 ERA and 28:15 K:BB in 46.1 career major-league frames. The 25-year-old right-hander is not a recommended fantasy streamer against Baltimore.

Getting start for Guardians
Gaddis will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start for the Guardians on Thursday against the Orioles, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It had been Tanner Bibee's turn, but he's done for the season with a hip injury. Gaddis has put up a 4.85 ERA over 10 appearances (six starts) with Cleveland this season. He might receive just the one start, as Triston McKenzie (elbow) appears poised to return next week.

Optioned to Triple-A
Gaddis was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis picked up a win in a three-inning relief outing in his last appearance but now finds himself back in the minors following the Guardians' waiver claim bonanza. He's posted a 4.85 ERA over 10 appearances (six starts) for Cleveland this season.
Aug 30, 2023
Earns win after call-up
Gaddis (2-1) allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out two over three innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis was called up to take Daniel Norris' spot on the 26-man roster earlier in the day. Gaddis had previously served as the 27th man during last Thursday's doubleheader, making him eligible for a call-up. He's now at a 4.85 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 23:12 K:BB through 39 innings over 10 outings (six starts) in the majors this year. Gavin Williams (knee) exited Tuesday's start after one inning, and Gaddis would be among a handful of options to fill a vacancy in the rotation if Williams misses additional time, though Cal Quantrill (shoulder) is expected to be back from the injured list Friday.

Returns to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Gaddis to Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis was sent back to the minors one day after being called up to serve as the 27th man for the Guardians' doubleheader with the Dodgers. The 25-year-old worked 4.2 innings out of the bullpen in Thursday's 9-3 loss, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout.
Aug 24, 2023
Brought up as 27th man
The Guardians added Gaddis from Triple-A Columbus to serve as their 27th man Thursday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Because Wednesday's game with the Dodgers ended up spilling into Thursday due to rain, the Guardians will be allowed to use Gaddis as an extra man in their bullpen. The 25-year-old righty has put up a 5.17 ERA and 1.21 WHIP through 31.1 frames in the majors this season, and he will likely return to Columbus immediately after Thursday's contest.
Aug 23, 2023
Sent back to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Gaddis to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis was called up from Columbus and was designated as the Guardians' 27th man for Friday's doubleheader with the Tigers, but he didn't appear in either contest before being returned to the minors a day later. He went on to appear out of the bullpen for Columbus on Sunday, giving up one run over two innings in a 9-2 loss to Syracuse.
Jun 3, 2023
Sent to minors
The Guardians optioned Gaddis to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis has been very inconsistent in the majors this season -- he has three scoreless multi-inning appearances alongside four starts in which he allowed three runs or more. If he's able to right the ship in Triple-A, there's a chance he returns to Cleveland's bullpen later this season. For now, Michael Kelly will take Gaddis' spot after being selected from Columbus on Saturday.
May 29, 2023
Three strikeouts in no-decision
Gaddis did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against the Cardinals. He struck out three.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis allowed three solo home runs to the Cardinals but was let off the hook thanks to a walk-off, two-run double by Jose Ramirez. The right-hander sports a 5.72 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB across six starts (28.1 innings), but he's likely transitioning to a relief role or heading back to Triple-A Columbus soon, as Aaron Civale (oblique) and Triston McKenzie (shoulder) are both nearing a return to MLB.
May 25, 2023
Draws another start
Gaddis is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Cardinals at Progressive Field.
ANALYSIS
Though Aaron Civale (oblique) is available on normal rest Sunday and built up to 69 pitches in his latest rehab start at Triple-A Columbus, the Guardians seem to be leaning toward having him make another start in the minors prior to bringing him back from the 15-day injured list. As a result, Gaddis will get the opportunity to build on his strong showing in his return to the big leagues Monday, when he tossed six scoreless innings in a win over the White Sox. With Civale closing in on a return and Triston McKenzie (shoulder) not much further behind, Gaddis still appears likely to head to the bullpen or get optioned to Triple-A after Sunday's start.
May 23, 2023
Six scoreless innings in win
Gaddis (1-1) earned the win Monday, tossing six scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits and one walk during a 3-0 win over the White Sox. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
After a month at Triple-A Columbus, Gaddis was called up to the big-league club ahead of Monday's contest and made his sixth start of the season. It was the second time he completed at least six scoreless frames, lowering his ERA from 6.86 to 5.26. Gaddis hasn't been a major strikeout pitcher yet, but he's been able to take care of business more often than not in 2023, as the majority of the damage done to his ERA came during a tumultuous outing versus the Yankees on April 11. Gaddis figures to get at least one more turn in the rotation after his stellar outing against Chicago, but he's not guaranteed a spot in the rotation when Triston McKenzie (shoulder) and (Aaron Civale) finish their rehab assignments.
May 22, 2023
Officially called up
Gaddis was called up from Triple-A Columbus and will start Monday against the White Sox, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Gaddis will join the Guardians ahead of their three-game series with the White Sox on Monday, drawing the start in the series opener. The 25-year-old has struggled to a 6.86 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over 19.2 innings in the big leagues this season, but most of the damage came April 11 against the Yankees, when he surrendered eight runs over three frames. Gaddis will look to kick off his second stint in the big leagues a little better Monday when he takes on a disappointing Chicago team.
May 21, 2023
Set to start Monday
Gaddis is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start Monday against the White Sox, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis has a 6.86 ERA across 19.2 innings for Cleveland this season and will rejoin the big-league rotation for the series opener versus Chicago. The 25-year-old isn't guaranteed to stick in the rotation beyond Monday's contest, especially with Triston McKenzie (shoulder) and Aaron Civale (oblique) on rehab assignments and nearing their returns from the injured list.
Apr 23, 2023
En route to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Gaddis to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Gaddis will return to the minors after he was called up from Columbus to serve as the Guardians' 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader with the Marlins. Though he turned in a scoreless two-inning relief appearance in Cleveland's 6-1 loss in Game 1, Gaddis' poor body of work in four starts with the big club earlier this season has removed him from consideration for a spot in the Guardians' rotation at this time. Instead, Logan Allen -- who was promoted from Triple-A to take the hill for Sunday's series finale with Miami -- will at least temporarily settle in as the Guardians' new No. 5 starter.
Apr 23, 2023
Called up, works in relief
Gaddis, who was called up from Triple-A Columbus prior to Saturday's doubleheader with the Marlins, came on in relief in the Guardians' 6-1 loss in Game 1 and struck out one over two perfect innings.
ANALYSIS
The appearance was Gaddis' fifth of the season with the big club but his first out of the bullpen after he had been included in the Opening Day rotation before being sent out to Columbus after posting a 7.64 and 1.58 WHIP across 17.2 innings through his first four starts. He'll likely be sent back to Columbus to continue making regular starts, but Gaddis doesn't look like he'll be the top choice to rejoin the big-league rotation if Cal Quantrill (leg) is forced to miss his next start.
Apr 19, 2023
Optioned to Triple-A
Cleveland optioned Gaddis to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old is being sent down to make room for infield prospect Brayan Rocchio on the roster. Gaddis struggled for the most part over his four starts with a 7.64 ERA and 12:6 K:BB over 17.2 innings. The Guardians could turn to Gaddis to make starts again, but there are other internal options like top prospect Tanner Bibbee that could get a chance to start as well.
Apr 18, 2023
No-decision in Tuesday's matinee
Gaddis didn't factor into the decision in a 4-3 loss to the Tigers during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. He gave up three runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings, striking out one.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was able to last at least five frames for the second time in four starts to begin the year, but Gaddis hasn't done much more than take a bit of pressure off the bullpen. His 7.64 ERA and 12:6 K:BB through 17.2 innings aren't impressive, but unless the Guardians accelerate their internal timeline for promoting a prospect like Tanner Bibee, Gaddis will likely keep his spot in the rotation. His next turn lines up for a potential weekend start at home against the Marlins.
Apr 17, 2023
Guardians-Tigers postponed
Gaddis won't start against the Tigers on Monday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Detroit, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
ANALYSIS
The Guardians and Tigers are set to make up the postponed game as part of a split doubleheader Tuesday. Gaddis will presumably start one of the two games for Cleveland, while Peyton Battenfield takes the hill for the other contest.
Apr 11, 2023
Struggles in loss
Gaddis (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing eight runs on eight hits and two walks over three innings against the Yankees. He struck out three.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis has pitched poorly in two of his three starts to begin the year, with the one exception being six shutout innings against the rebuilding Athletics last Wednesday. The right-hander was staked a 2-0 lead, but he gave up a run in the second and five more in the third with three of them coming on a blast by Franchy Cordero. He'd allow two more in the fourth without getting an out to see his ERA balloon to 8.53 on the season. Gaddis is lined up to face the Tigers early next week.
Apr 5, 2023
Fires six shutout, one-hit frames
Gaddis was tagged with a no-decision against Oakland on Wednesday despite pitching six scoreless innings. He allowed one hit and two walks while striking out four batters.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis gave up four runs over 3.2 innings against Seattle in his season debut, but he was much improved against the A's. The right-hander gave up only one hit -- a Jesus Aguilar double -- and breezed through six innings on 77 pitches. He departed in line for the win, but Cleveland's bullpen couldn't hold the lead as the game eventually went into extra innings. Gaddis is in the rotation due to Triston McKenzie's arm injury, and his performance Wednesday will almost certainly earn him at least another start. His next outing may be more challenging, however, as it's tentatively lined up to come against the Yankees.
Apr 2, 2023
Second start awaits
Gaddis is listed as the Guardians' probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game in Oakland.
ANALYSIS
Though he was lit up for four earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four in 3.2 innings in his 2023 debut Friday in Seattle, Gaddis will get at least one more chance to better solidify himself as the Guardians' No. 5 starter while Triston McKenzie (lat) is on the shelf. While the matchup with a punchless Oakland offense is a good one on paper, Gaddis' uninspiring track record through three career MLB starts makes it difficult to trust him as a streaming option.
Apr 1, 2023
Early exit against M's
Gaddis didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 9-4 win over the Mariners, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
While the right-hander was able to keep the ball in the park, Gaddis gave up plenty of loud contact as three of the five hits off him went for extra bases. He also produced only five swinging strikes among his 70 pitches, a poor recipe for future success. Gaddis will hold down the fort in the rotation for now while Triston McKenzie (shoulder) is sidelined, but another shaky start or two could cause him to get bumped aside, whether by another depth option like Konnor Pilkington or by a top prospect who has a hot start at Triple-A, such as Tanner Bibee.
Mar 28, 2023
Starting second game for Guardians
Gaddis will start for the Guardians on Friday against the Mariners, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Not only is Gaddis replacing the injured Triston McKenzie (shoulder) in the rotation, he'll also take the ball in the second game of the season in McKenzie's vacated spot. Gaddis has piled up a good number of strikeouts in the minors, but he's struggled against lefties and with the home run ball. Fantasy managers should probably look in another direction.
Mar 28, 2023
Expected to move into rotation
Gaddis is expected to move into the Guardians' rotation to replace the injured Triston McKenzie (shoulder), Mandy Bell and Jesus Cano of MLB.com report.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis had been projected for a bullpen role, but it should be a seamless transition since he's still stretched out from spring training. The right-hander pitched well during Cactus League with a 2.77 ERA and 17:3 K:BB over 13 innings. Gaddis was much less successful in two spot starts for Cleveland in 2022 (18.41 ERA), but he struck out 158 across 121.1 frames between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. With McKenzie potentially sidelined for two months, Gaddis could get a long look in the rotation.
Mar 24, 2023
Will start season in bullpen
Gaddis has been informed he's made the Opening Day roster for the Guardians, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis was roughed up for 15 runs in just 7.1 innings last year in two appearances -- good for an 18.41 ERA -- but he has pitched well in the Cactus League with a 2.77 ERA over 13 innings with a 17:3 K:BB and even 1.00 WHIP. He'll likely be a multi-inning option for low-leverage situations to begin 2023.
Sep 16, 2022
Sent to Columbus
Gaddis was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis made his second major-league start Thursday against the Astros but gave up seven runs in four innings. He's now given up 15 runs in 7.1 innings over two appearances with the Guardians and will head back to the minors after Carlos Vargas was recalled Friday.
Sep 16, 2022
Serves up five homers
Gaddis (0-2) allowed seven earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three across four innings to take the loss Thursday against the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis was called up to make his second start in the majors, but he served up five homers in the disastrous appearance. He's pitched well with Triple-A Columbus this season, maintaining a 3.93 ERA with a 43:15 K:BB across 34.1 innings. However, Gaddis has now surrendered seven home runs across his first 7.1 frames in the majors. Thursday's appearance was likely just a spot start, and the results didn't help his case to stick with Cleveland in the short term.
Sep 15, 2022
Called up to start
Gaddis was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It was announced Wednesday that Gaddis would be called up to start the following day, and the Guardians made the move official Thursday morning. Gaddis was tagged for eight earned runs over 3.1 innings in his August 5 big-league debut, but he was sharp in his last two starts with Columbus, posting a 2.31 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB over 11.2 innings.
Sep 14, 2022
Set to get called up Thursday
Gaddis is expected to be called up from Triple-A Columbus and start Thursday versus the White Sox, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis is set to replace Triston McKenzie on the mound Thursday after McKenzie had his next start pushed back a day to Friday's series opener with the Twins. Gaddis has made one start with the Guardians this season, surrendering eight runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings Aug. 6 against the Astros.
Aug 6, 2022
Sent back to Triple-A
Gaddis was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis' contract was selected ahead of his big-league debut Friday against the Astros, but the day didn't go nearly as well as he would have hoped. He lasted just 3.1 innings and left after giving up eight runs. He'll return to the minors for now but could get another opportunity next time the Guardians need a spot starter. Reliever Jake Jewell had his contract selected to take Gaddis' place on the roster.
Aug 6, 2022
Hammered in debut
Gaddis (0-1) took the loss Friday as the Guardians fell 9-3 to the Astros, coughing up eight runs on seven hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out two.
ANALYSIS
Making his big-league debut, Gaddis tossed 45 of 79 pitches for strikes before getting the hook and pitched adequately against everyone except Trey Mancini. Unfortunately, the former Oriole tagged him for two homers in two at-bats, with the second blast being a grand slam. The 24-year-old right-hander might get another start or two for Cleveland due a lack of currently healthy alternatives, but with Cody Morris (shoulder) having shifted his rehab to Triple-A this week and Aaron Civale (wrist) ready to begin his own rehab assignment, Gaddis' window for establishing himself in the rotation could close quickly.
Aug 5, 2022
Contract selected for MLB debut
Gaddis had his contract selected by Cleveland and is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Astros.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old was promoted from Double-A Akron to Triple-A Columbus in July and will now make his way to the majors for the first time. Gaddis has a 4.07 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 114:31 K:BB over 86.1 innings between Akron and Columbus this season. If the right-hander pitches well in his debut he could make another turn or two through the rotation, depending when Aaron Civale (wrist) is able to return from the injured list.
Aug 4, 2022
Set to start Friday
Gaddis will be promoted from Triple-A Columbus to start Friday's game against the Astros, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Gaddis has posted a 4.07 ERA with a 114:31 K:BB across 86.1 total innings between Double-A Akron and Columbus this season. He doesn't have much prospect pedigree but has consistently missed bats at every level of the minors. Gaddis will draw a tough matchup in his big-league debut, but he could have the chance to stick in the rotation until Aaron Civale (wrist) is ready to return.
