Outman played a key role in sending the game to extra frames, drawing a one-out walk in the ninth inning, stealing second base and advancing to third on an error, and scoring the tying run on a Kolten Wong single. The theft was his 15th of the campaign, second-most on the Dodgers behind Freddie Freeman. Outman also has 18 homers on the season, making him one of three MLB rookies with at least 15 stolen bases and 15 home runs.

In 16 games since the All-Star break, Outman has posted a 25.0 percent walk rate and a 21.7 percent strikeout rate. Prior to the break, those numbers were 8.6 percent and 34.4 percent, respectively.

Outman has reached base safely in all but two of his 16 games in the second half, with his ability to draw free passes being a big part of that success. The rookie struggled mightily with strikeouts early in the campaign, which led to him holding a mediocre .236 batting average going into the All-Star break. Outman has looked like a different player coming out of the break, with his strikeout percentage dropping to a palatable 21.7 percent and, not coincidentally, his slash line looking solid at .318/.500/.432. He's gone deep only once in 60 plate appearances, but his ability to get on base has helped lead to three thefts and nine runs scored. Outman's improvements at the plate -- along with his strong defense in center field -- have helped him remain in the lineup on a near-everyday basis and have improved his fantasy outlook in both redraft and dynasty formats.

With Jake Marisnick (hamstring) on the injured list and Jonny DeLuca (hamstring) exiting Tuesday's game, Outman could see his playing time solidify into more of a full-time role in the near term.

Perhaps most promisingly, he's been showing a better eye at the plate, posting a 6:6 BB:K after recording a 26:104 mark in the first half of the campaign.

Outman's National League Rookie of the Year campaign has lost some steam while his power has largely gone for the past two and a half months. Since the beginning of May, Outman has produced just 11 extra-base hits (four home runs, seven doubles) in 59 games. Though his struggles for much of May and June looked as though it could result in a demotion to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Outman has at least shown improved contact-hitting and on-base skills thus far in July. He's hitting .316 and owns a .435 OBP in 12 games this month while striking out at a manageable 26.1 percent clip, more than seven points below his season-long rate (33.6 percent).

It's been an up-and-down campaign for Outman, who started the season well but has batted below the Mendoza Line for about the past two months. He's begun to pick things up of late, collecting three multi-hit performances over his past six contests, though all seven of his knocks during that span have been singles. Outman's nine homers and eight thefts through 70 games highlight his potential to be a solid fantasy contributor, but his 35.5 percent strikeout rate remains his biggest obstacle to sustained success.

Outman continues to struggle at the plate, as he's gone a miserable 2-for-31 over his past 12 games. He does have two thefts over that span, but that's hardly enough to balance the drain he's putting on his fantasy managers' batting averages. Outman isn't likely to see his slump end until he's able to start making more contact -- over the 12-contest stretch he's fanned 40.5 percent of the time, and his overall 35.2 percent strikeout rate ranks second-worst among qualified MLB hitters.

Outman delivered in the 10th inning for the Dodgers, blasting a two-run shot to right field to give the team a three-run cushion. It was the outfielder's eighth long ball of the season, tied with with Josh Jung for the MLB lead among rookies. Outman has added a .274/.370/.581 slash line, 23 runs, 23 RBI and four stolen bases, with his 32.6 percent strikeout rate being the only notable cause for concern about his outlook moving forward.

The Dodgers noticed a "mechanical tweak" in Outman's setup at the plate during his recent slump, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, and the rookie outfielder has since rebounded by reaching base in five straight games.

Outman experienced his first true slump -- albeit brief -- as a major-leaguer last week when he went 0-for-11 with nine strikeouts over a three-game stretch. Ardaya reports that the staff noticed a change in Outman's setup that limited "his ability first to see, then get to some of the off-speed offerings that pitching staffs have fed him," and they consequently worked to get the rookie outfielder to open up more at the plate. Outman went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles Wednesday, lifting his batting average to .400 (6-for-15) with a pair of steals and six runs since the adjustment was made. The 25-year-old has struck out seven times over that span, but his performance as a whole has been impressive this season, and he was just named the NL Rookie of the Month for April after slashing .292/.376/.615 with seven homers, 20 RBI, 17 runs and four thefts through April 30.

Coming into the contest, Outman was mired in a rough three-game cold spell during which he went 0-for-11 with nine strikeouts. The rookie bounced back Saturday, finishing as the only player in the contest with multiple hits. He followed a single in the third inning with a stolen base and then came around to score the only run of the game on an Austin Barnes single. Outman's 33.3 percent strikeout rate this season is concerning, but he's still managed to put together a strong stat line that includes a .290/.371/.624 slash line, seven homers, four doubles, three triples, 16 runs, 20 RBI and three stolen bases.

Outman's versatile skillset makes him an extremely intriguing fantasy option, but his overall value will be tied to how often he can carve out playing time in the Dodgers's crowded outfield.

After appearing only as a late defensive replacement when Arizona started a southpaw Saturday, Outman was back in the lineup as Los Angeles' starting center fielder Sunday. The rookie drew a walk in his first place appearance and was hit by a pitch in his third. Following the HBP, Outman swiped second base, but the Dodgers were unable to bring him home. The 25-year-old stole 23 bases in the minors as recently as 2021, so there is certainly some speed to his game. However, it's worth noting that manager Dave Roberts decided to pinch hit for Outman with light-hitting backup backstop Austin Barnes when the Diamondbacks brought in a lefty reliever in the ninth, so it appears that the team doesn't yet feel comfortable letting the rookie face left-handed pitching.

There's a whole lot of fantasy upside in his profile.

Outman should play often with Chris Taylor expected to being the regular season facing mostly left-handed pitchers, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Early this spring, Taylor was considered the favorite to be the Dodgers' primary center fielder, but his continued struggles to make contact during the exhibition slate along with a need for him to spend more time at shortstop due to Gavin Lux's season-ending knee injury has shifted that narrative. Outman is now likely to see the most starts in center among Los Angeles' various options, a role he has earned with an excellent showing this spring that includes a .300/.390/.600 slash line, three homers and 11 RBI. Meanwhile, Taylor appears lined up to play more of a platoon role against lefties, at least at the start of the season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced Thursday that Outman has made the Opening Day roster, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Outman might not get enough starts out of the gate to offer immediate fantasy relevance, but he's certainly a name to keep on watch lists as the season plays out. The 25-year-old outfielder slashed .294/.393/.586 with 31 home runs and 13 stolen bases in 125 games last summer between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, and he also went 6-for-13 during a short stint with Los Angeles between late July and early August. He's going to be a good one.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts implied Saturday that there's a chance Outman could make the Opening Day roster, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Roberts calls Outman "big league ready", but that "how [the Dodgers] shake out is a different question. The outfielder has performed well over the Cactus League season, and homered for the second time this spring on Saturday. Even if the 25-year-old makes the roster he won't be guaranteed significant playing time, but he's a name to monitor in deeper leagues, and is certainly talented enough to consider in keeper/dynasty formats.

Outman has gone 6-for-13 with a triple, a home run, three runs, four RBI and a 2:3 BB:K through 17 Cactus League plate appearances.

Outman showed well in a brief cup of coffee with the Dodgers last season, going 6-for-13 with a pair of doubles, a homer and three RBI over four contests, though he also struck out seven times. His stat line so far this spring is eerily similar, with the notable exception that he's fanning less often. Both sample sizes are admittedly small, but with Los Angeles parting ways with Cody Bellinger in the offseason and recently announcing that Chris Taylor will play more shortstop due to Gavin Lux's season-ending knee injury, there may be room for Outman on the Opening Day roster. In terms of fantasy, he's ascending up dynasty ranks and could be an impactful player in all formats as soon as this season if he's able to secure substantial playing time with the big-league club.

In his final 16 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Outman slashed .313/.405/.672 with six home runs, 12 RBI, 15 runs and a stolen base.

Outman's strong finish put the finishing touches on a breakthrough campaign during which he slashed .294/.392/.586 with 31 homers, 106 RBI, 101 runs and 13 stolen bases over 125 contests between Double-A and Triple-A. Among the highlights was a four-game stretch in late August during which the 25-year-old twice hit for the cycle. Of course, Outman's greatest achievement this season was getting his first major-league callup -- he impressed during his time with the big-league club, slashing .462/.563/.846 with a home run and three RBI over 16 plate appearances (albeit with a 43.8 percent strikeout rate). Outman's excellent season has created the possibility that he could play a significant role on the major-league team as soon as next season.

Outman went 5-for-5 with a double, two triples, a home run and six RBI for Triple-A Oklahoma City in a win over El Paso on Friday.

Outman not only hit for OKC's first cycle in more than 11 years, he also launched a walkoff home run. The 25-year-old is in the midst of his finest minor-league campaign, slashing .286/.387/.566 with 23 homers, 84 RBI and 12 stolen bases between Double-A and Triple-A. He has a lot of swing-and-miss in his game, but he was productive in a four-game stint in the majors several weeks ago and could get another call-up late in the season.

Outman was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

He hit .462 with seven strikeouts and one home run in four games (13 at-bats) during his first career cup of coffee in the majors. Outman has impressive physical tools but his hit tool is suspect.

Outman will start in left field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Giants, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Outman will be getting his third start in the corner outfield in four games after he began his big-league career by going 5-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and a walk. Though his hot bat has earned him more work early on than expected, the Dodgers likely aren't counting on Outman playing well enough to stick as a near-everyday player. Instead, the newly acquired Joey Gallo and Trayce Thompson are likely settle into a platoon at the corner-outfield spot opposite Mookie Betts, at least until Chris Taylor (foot) is ready to come off the injured list.

Outman went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three total RBI and two total runs scored in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Rockies.

Outman's debut was a dazzler, which saw him go yard in his first big-league at-bat. He added a single in the seventh inning and an RBI double in the eighth. The 25-year-old isn't considered a high-rated prospect, but he did alright with a 2.225 batting average and .815 OPS with five home runs, 24 RBI, 13 runs scored and four stolen bases in 22 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City after a midseason promotion. Outman will likely be limited to the occasional start versus right-handed pitchers, though more performances like his debut could offer him a corresponding boost in playing time while Chris Taylor (foot) works through a rehab assignment in the coming week.

A 25-year-old athletic outfielder, Outman has a .279/.381/.534 slash line with a 28.5 K% and 12.6 BB% in 404 plate appearances split between Double-A and Triple-A this year. He takes the place of Zach McKinstry, who was shipped to the Cubs in exchange for reliever Chris Martin. Outman will serve as a lefty bench bat, defensive replacement and occasional starter.

The Dodgers promoted Outman from Double-A Tulsa to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Outman received the bump up to the Dodgers' top affiliate after slashing .297/.397/.556 with 16 home runs and seven stolen bases across 305 plate appearances at Tulsa. The 25-year-old possesses a spot on the Dodgers' 40-man roster, so he could be a candidate to join the big club later in the season if he continues to perform well at Triple-A and if Los Angeles has a need for an extra outfielder.
