Day off Thursday
Outman is absent from the lineup Thursday versus the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Enrique Hernandez will start in center field and bat eighth for the NL West champs as Outman grabs a day of rest. He went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, a double, a walk and two runs scored in the Dodgers' 8-2 win at Coors Field on Wednesday.
Sep 28, 2023
Racks up three more hits
Outman went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and two total runs against Colorado in an 8-2 win Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Following an 0-for-4 performance in Game 1 of a doubleheader Tuesday, Outman was batting just .171 with no multi-hit performances through 22 games in September. He's turned things around considerably since then, tallying seven hits over his past 10 at-bats to lift his season batting average back up to .252. The rookie outfielder has added 23 homers, 69 RBI, 85 runs and 15 stolen bases in a fine rookie campaign, nailing down a near-everyday role in center field in the process.
Sep 27, 2023
Tallies four hits Tuesday
Outman went 4-for-6 with a pair of runs in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
After going 0-for-4 in a Game 1 loss, Outman bounced back by rapping four singles in the nightcap. It was the rookie's third four-hit game of the campaign and his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 28. Even with the Game 2 performance, Outman has struggled to a .211/.322/.421 slash line over 23 contests in September, though he's knocked five homers and a double among his 16 hits.
Sep 24, 2023
Clubs 22nd homer
Outman went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Outman is still searching for a multi-hit game in September, having gone 12-for-66 (.181) this month. He's made up for the slump a bit with five homers and nine RBI over his last 21 contests, and he's still seeing most of the playing time in center field. Outman is up to 22 long balls, 68 RBI, 81 runs scored, 15 stolen bases and a .244/.351/.434 slash line through 145 games this year.
Sep 18, 2023
Out of Monday's lineup
Outman is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
ANALYSIS
Outman does not sit against every left-handed starter the Dodgers face, but he will sit against Tigers lefty Eduardo Rodriguez after going 2-for-21 (.095) over his last six games. Enrique Hernandez will start in center field in Outman's place.
Sep 17, 2023
Launches homer Sunday
Outman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Outman went just 2-for-12 in this weekend's three-game series, but both of his hits were homers. He's now gone 18 contests without a multi-hit effort, hitting .193 (11-for-57) with four homers and eight RBI in that span. It's a downturn on offense for the outfielder, who has slashed .245/.354/.434 with 21 homers, 66 RBI, 78 runs scored and 15 stolen bases through 139 contests overall.
Sep 16, 2023
Reaches 20-homer mark
Outman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Outman padded the Dodgers' lead in the ninth inning with a solo shot off Trent Thornton. While Outman has gone just 7-for-39 (.179) in September, he's hit three homers this month. He's now at 20 long balls this season while adding 65 RBI, 77 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, 14 doubles, three triples and a .248/.356/.433 slash line over 137 contests in his first full campaign.
Sep 11, 2023
Swats solo home run
Outman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's win over the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Outman took Trevor Williams deep to right field to open up the second inning to extend the Dodgers' lead to 3-0. He now sits at 19 home runs for the year to go along with 15 stolen bases and has a chance to hit the 20-20 mark as a rookie and could be just the 10th Dodger rookie in history to reach 20 home runs. Outman has reached base safely in 15 of his last 17 games, and is slashing .273/.423/.491 with four homers, 11 RBI, 13 runs and a 13:22 BB:K over that span.
Sep 10, 2023
Swipes 15th bag
Outman went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run and a stolen base Saturday in an extra-innings loss to the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Outman played a key role in sending the game to extra frames, drawing a one-out walk in the ninth inning, stealing second base and advancing to third on an error, and scoring the tying run on a Kolten Wong single. The theft was his 15th of the campaign, second-most on the Dodgers behind Freddie Freeman. Outman also has 18 homers on the season, making him one of three MLB rookies with at least 15 stolen bases and 15 home runs.
Sep 7, 2023
Not in lineup Thursday
Outman is absent from the lineup Thursday at Miami.
ANALYSIS
This appears to be a routine day off for Outman, who hit a ninth-inning two-run homer in the Dodgers' loss to the Marlins on Wednesday. Enrique Hernandez will play center field and bat seventh in Thursday's series finale.
Aug 29, 2023
Swats another homer
Outman went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Outman homered for the second game in a row, and he's hit five of his 17 long balls on the year over 23 contests in August. The outfielder was slugging .423 at the end of July, but he's up to .439 now. For the season, he's batting .253 with a .797 OPS, 58 RBI, 67 runs scored and 14 stolen bases over 121 contests as the Dodgers' primary center fielder.
Aug 28, 2023
Collects two hits, homers
Outman went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored in Sunday's win over the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Outman was in the midst of an 8-for-48 spell coming into the game but broke through with a solo home run in the fourth to put the Dodgers on the board. He later singled in another run as he put together his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 7. For the season, Outman is now hitting .250 with 16 homers, 56 RBI, 66 runs scored and 14 steals.
Aug 25, 2023
Gets breather Friday
Outman isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Friday against the Red Sox, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman is just 2-for-17 with two RBI and 10 strikeouts across his last five games, so he'll take a seat Friday amid his offensive woes. Enrique Hernandez will take over as the Dodgers' center fielder and bat sixth.
Aug 19, 2023
Lifts 15th homer
Outman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 11-3 loss to the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Outman has gone 14-for-46 (.304) with three homers, eight RBI and a 10:15 BB:K over 15 contests in August. He's still mostly limited to a strong-side platoon role in center field, but he's returned solid value when in the lineup. Outman is up to 15 homers, 52 RBI, 62 runs scored, 14 stolen bases and a .256/.358/.438 slash line through 113 games this year.
Aug 16, 2023
Sitting against lefty
Outman is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
It'll be a righty-heavy attack for the Dodgers as they take on left-hander Wade Miley. Chris Taylor, Enrique Hernandez and Mookie Betts are starting across the outfield.
Aug 13, 2023
Clubs homer in win
Outman went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Outman's second-inning blast gave the Dodgers the lead for good in this contest. The outfielder had gone seven games without an RBI entering Saturday. He's hitting .344 (11-for-32) in August, a stretch that's raised his slash line for the year to .257/.362/.439 over 109 games. Outman has added 14 homers, 14 stolen bases, 51 RBI and 60 runs scored while seeing the bulk of the playing time in center field.
Aug 7, 2023
Reaches base five times in win
Outman went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Monday's 13-7 victory over San Diego.
ANALYSIS
Outman was locked in at the plate Monday, as each of his four hits registered an exit velocity of 99.6 mph or higher. In 21 games since the All-Star break, the rookie outfielder is slashing an impressive .360/.420/.623 with two home runs, nine RBI, 13 runs scored and four steals across 81 plate appearances during that span.
Aug 5, 2023
Productive in Friday's win
Outman went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 10-5 win over the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Outman snapped an 11-game homer drought Friday, though he was still solid with six RBI, two steals and two doubles while batting .300 in that span. The outfielder remains in a strong-side platoon role, though he's potentially earned a bit more than that after starting against two of the three southpaws the Dodgers faced in their series versus Oakland. He's at a .252/.352/.435 slash line with 13 homers, 13 steals, 49 RBI and 55 runs scored over 369 plate appearances.
Aug 3, 2023
Sitting versus lefty
Outman is not in the lineup Thursday against Oakland.
ANALYSIS
Enrique Hernandez will start in center field and bat seventh in the Dodgers' series finale versus the Athletics and left-hander JP Sears. The left-handed-hitting Outman racked up three RBI over the first two games of the three-game set.
Aug 2, 2023
Showing improved plate discipline
In 16 games since the All-Star break, Outman has posted a 25.0 percent walk rate and a 21.7 percent strikeout rate. Prior to the break, those numbers were 8.6 percent and 34.4 percent, respectively.
ANALYSIS
Outman has reached base safely in all but two of his 16 games in the second half, with his ability to draw free passes being a big part of that success. The rookie struggled mightily with strikeouts early in the campaign, which led to him holding a mediocre .236 batting average going into the All-Star break. Outman has looked like a different player coming out of the break, with his strikeout percentage dropping to a palatable 21.7 percent and, not coincidentally, his slash line looking solid at .318/.500/.432. He's gone deep only once in 60 plate appearances, but his ability to get on base has helped lead to three thefts and nine runs scored. Outman's improvements at the plate -- along with his strong defense in center field -- have helped him remain in the lineup on a near-everyday basis and have improved his fantasy outlook in both redraft and dynasty formats.
Jul 28, 2023
Sitting versus lefty
Outman isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Friday against the Reds, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Southpaw Brandon Williamson will start on the mound for Cincy, so the left-handed bat of Outman will remain on the bench. Enrique Hernandez will start in center field instead and bat eighth.
Jul 26, 2023
Plays hero Tuesday
Outman went 3-for-3 with an RBI double, two walks, one stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 8-7 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Outman came into the game 0-for-6 across his last two contests. He was able to turn things around, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances Tuesday, which included him knocking a walk-off double in the 10th inning. The outfielder's strong performance lifted his slash line to .247/.341/.427 with 12 home runs, 43 RBI, 51 runs scored and 11 stolen bases through 94 contests. With Jake Marisnick (hamstring) on the injured list and Jonny DeLuca (hamstring) exiting Tuesday's game, Outman could see his playing time solidify into more of a full-time role in the near term.
Jul 21, 2023
On bench versus lefty
Outman will sit Friday versus the Rangers, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman will head to the bench as Los Angeles faces off with southpaw Andrew Heaney on Friday. Jonny DeLuca will take over in center field and bat seventh in the series opener with Texas.
Jul 20, 2023
Goes deep in loss
Outman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Outman took Dean Kremer deep in the fourth inning, belting a 414-foot solo shot to left-center field. It was his first long ball since he swatted two homers against Pittsburgh on July 4. Outman has come out of the All-Star break well, slashing .353/.522/.588 with a stolen base through six contests. Perhaps most promisingly, he's been showing a better eye at the plate, posting a 6:6 BB:K after recording a 26:104 mark in the first half of the campaign.
Jul 19, 2023
Reaches base four times
Outman went 2-for-4 with two walks, a stolen base and a run in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Outman's National League Rookie of the Year campaign has lost some steam while his power has largely gone for the past two and a half months. Since the beginning of May, Outman has produced just 11 extra-base hits (four home runs, seven doubles) in 59 games. Though his struggles for much of May and June looked as though it could result in a demotion to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Outman has at least shown improved contact-hitting and on-base skills thus far in July. He's hitting .316 and owns a .435 OBP in 12 games this month while striking out at a manageable 26.1 percent clip, more than seven points below his season-long rate (33.6 percent).
Jul 5, 2023
Clubs pair of homers
Outman went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Outman went deep off Luis Ortiz in the second and fourth innings, ending the young slugger's 34-game homer drought. Outman has posted six multi-hit efforts over his last 15 games, batting .268 (15-for-56) in that span. The outfielder is up to 11 long balls, 40 RBI, 41 runs scored and eight stolen bases while slashing .236/.317/.429 over 287 plate appearances this season. He continues to see the majority of the playing time in center field.
Jul 3, 2023
Takes seat for series opener
Outman isn't starting Monday's game against the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Outman is in the midst of a 2-for-12 stretch at the dish over his last three contests and will get the night off to hit the reset button. Jason Heyward gets the call in center field and is set to bat seventh in Outman's absence.
Jun 24, 2023
Tallies three hits Friday
Outman went 3-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base in a 3-2 win over Houston on Friday.
ANALYSIS
It's been an up-and-down campaign for Outman, who started the season well but has batted below the Mendoza Line for about the past two months. He's begun to pick things up of late, collecting three multi-hit performances over his past six contests, though all seven of his knocks during that span have been singles. Outman's nine homers and eight thefts through 70 games highlight his potential to be a solid fantasy contributor, but his 35.5 percent strikeout rate remains his biggest obstacle to sustained success.
Jun 17, 2023
Out against lefty
Outman isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Lefty Alex Wood is slated to start on the mound for San Francisco, meaning the left-handed bat of Outman will remain in the dugout Saturday. Jonny DeLuca will take over in center field and bat fifth.
Jun 16, 2023
Out of lineup Friday
Outman is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
After a red-hot start to the season, Outman has cooled off considerably, and he's slashed just .174/.321/.217 in the month of June. The outfielder will get Friday off with Sean Manaea expected to work as the bulk hurler versus the Dodgers, and Jonny Deluca will patrol center field in Outman's absence.
Jun 11, 2023
Not in lineup Sunday
Outman is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's bout versus Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Outman is sitting for the second time in three games, and the rookie outfielder could continue to see his playing time diminish if the results don't improve substantially over the coming weeks. Jason Heyward earns the start in center against the Phillies on Sunday and will hit fifth.
Jun 7, 2023
Sitting out second straight game
Outman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
ANALYSIS
After taking a seat against right-hander Andrew Abbott in Tuesday's series opener, the lefty-hitting Outman will now remain on the bench versus a lefty (Brandon Williamson) on Wednesday. The Dodgers may not yet be ready to pull the plug on Outman as their primary center fielder, but it's clear that his leash has gotten considerably shorter while he's slashed a woeful .161/.257/.276 with a 37.6 percent strikeout rate since the beginning of May.
Jun 6, 2023
Sits amid struggles
Outman is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Jason Heyward is starting in center field and bating seventh versus the Reds and right-hander Luke Weaver. Outman has gone 2-for-31 (.065) with 15 strikeouts over his last 12 games and is slashing just .161/.257/.276 in 101 plate appearances since the beginning of May.
Jun 5, 2023
Tallies seventh steal
Outman went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Outman continues to struggle at the plate, as he's gone a miserable 2-for-31 over his past 12 games. He does have two thefts over that span, but that's hardly enough to balance the drain he's putting on his fantasy managers' batting averages. Outman isn't likely to see his slump end until he's able to start making more contact -- over the 12-contest stretch he's fanned 40.5 percent of the time, and his overall 35.2 percent strikeout rate ranks second-worst among qualified MLB hitters.
May 31, 2023
Sitting versus lefty
Outman is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman got plenty of run against lefties when he was hitting better, but now that he's slumping at the plate he's been on the bench three of the last six times the Dodgers have faced a southpaw. Trayce Thompson will handle center field.
May 30, 2023
Takes positive step Monday
Outman went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 6-1 win against Washington.
ANALYSIS
Outman entered Monday in the midst of a massive slump, going 4-for-42 with 21 strikeouts over his previous 15 games. He put the ball in play in each of his three at-bats against Washington, producing an RBI with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. The rookie outfielder's 35.0 percent strikeout rate on the campaign remains a significant roadblock to his success, but Outman has also posted some useful fantasy stats, including nine homers, 29 RBI, 28 runs and six thefts.
May 28, 2023
Sits amid slump
Outman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
ANALYSIS
With the lefty-hitting Outman mired in a deep slump and with Tampa Bay bringing a lefty (Josh Fleming) to the hill Sunday, it comes as no surprise that the rookie outfielder will stay on the bench for the series finale. Outman has now sat in three of the past four games while he's gone just 4-for-39 with a 40.9 percent strikeout rate over his last 14 contests. Trayce Thompson will replace Outman in center field Sunday.
May 27, 2023
On bench Saturday
Outman is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Outman will take a seat after he went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in Friday's 9-3 loss. He has now gone hitless over 14 at-bats in his last five contests. Jason Heyward will draw the start in center field and bat sixth against Tampa Bay.
May 24, 2023
Takes seat Wednesday
Outman is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against Atlanta, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman has not had much success as of late with the bat, and his 0-for-4 showing with three strikeouts dropped his slash for the month of May to .179/.273/.328 over 67 at-bats. Jason Heyward will hit sixth and get the start in center field in Outman's absence.
May 20, 2023
Gets Saturday off
Outman will be on the bench Saturday against the Cardinals, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman is having an excellent rookie season overall, hitting .263/.353/.533 with nine homers and five steals in 46 games. That comes with a 34.1 percent strikeout rate on the year and a 52.4 percent mark across his last six contests, however, so there's reason to worry about how well he'll be able to sustain his hot start. Jason Heyward will take over in center field Saturday.
May 17, 2023
Launches go-ahead grand slam
Outman went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, two runs scored and a steal in Wednesday's 7-3 victory over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Outman led off the fourth inning with a single before swiping his fifth base of the season. He'd then snap a 3-3 tie with a grand slam in the sixth, a 407-foot shot off Emilio Pagan to put the Dodgers ahead for good. Outman's big game snapped an 0-for-12 stretch. He's now slashing an impressive .264/.354/.549 with nine home runs, 28 runs scored and 27 RBI through 164 plate appearances in his rookie campaign.
May 15, 2023
Not in lineup
Outman is absent from the Dodgers' lineup for Monday's game against the Twins, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Right-hander Pablo Lopez has been tough against both righties and lefties this season but has been more difficult for left-handed batters, so Outman will take a seat. Jason Heyward (also a left-handed batter) is in center field Monday.
May 12, 2023
Getting breather Friday
Outman is not in the lineup Friday against the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Chris Taylor will play left field and Trayce Thompson will start in center with left-hander Blake Snell on the bump for San Diego. Outman, 25, is sitting on an impressive .281/.374/.578 overall batting line with eight home runs, 23 RBI, four stolen bases and 26 runs scored through 38 games this year.
May 8, 2023
Belts eighth homer Sunday
Outman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-2 extra-inning win against the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Outman delivered in the 10th inning for the Dodgers, blasting a two-run shot to right field to give the team a three-run cushion. It was the outfielder's eighth long ball of the season, tied with with Josh Jung for the MLB lead among rookies. Outman has added a .274/.370/.581 slash line, 23 runs, 23 RBI and four stolen bases, with his 32.6 percent strikeout rate being the only notable cause for concern about his outlook moving forward.
May 3, 2023
Bounce-back aided by adjustment
The Dodgers noticed a "mechanical tweak" in Outman's setup at the plate during his recent slump, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, and the rookie outfielder has since rebounded by reaching base in five straight games.
ANALYSIS
Outman experienced his first true slump -- albeit brief -- as a major-leaguer last week when he went 0-for-11 with nine strikeouts over a three-game stretch. Ardaya reports that the staff noticed a change in Outman's setup that limited "his ability first to see, then get to some of the off-speed offerings that pitching staffs have fed him," and they consequently worked to get the rookie outfielder to open up more at the plate. Outman went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles Wednesday, lifting his batting average to .400 (6-for-15) with a pair of steals and six runs since the adjustment was made. The 25-year-old has struck out seven times over that span, but his performance as a whole has been impressive this season, and he was just named the NL Rookie of the Month for April after slashing .292/.376/.615 with seven homers, 20 RBI, 17 runs and four thefts through April 30.
Apr 30, 2023
Snaps slump with two hits
Outman went 2-for-3 with a run and a stolen base Saturday in a 1-0 victory versus the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Coming into the contest, Outman was mired in a rough three-game cold spell during which he went 0-for-11 with nine strikeouts. The rookie bounced back Saturday, finishing as the only player in the contest with multiple hits. He followed a single in the third inning with a stolen base and then came around to score the only run of the game on an Austin Barnes single. Outman's 33.3 percent strikeout rate this season is concerning, but he's still managed to put together a strong stat line that includes a .290/.371/.624 slash line, seven homers, four doubles, three triples, 16 runs, 20 RBI and three stolen bases.
Apr 22, 2023
Stays hot Saturday
Outman went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run, a solo home run and an RBI single in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Outman gave the Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the second with a solo shot off Hayden Wesneski and extended the advantage to 9-4 in the ninth with a two-run shot off Brad Boxberger. The young outfielder now has seven homers and 19 RBI on the season, but the majority of that production (four homers and nine RBI) has come during the first three matchups of a four-game series in Chicago.
Apr 21, 2023
Records first career two-HR game
Outman went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBI in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Outman twice propelled the Dodgers into a lead with a long ball. In the third inning, he slugged a 420-foot solo homer to break a 1-1 tie. His next blast was more dramatic, as he smashed a ninth-inning grand slam to blow up what had been a 2-2 stalemate. This was Outman's first career multi-homer performance, and the five RBI were a career high. The rookie has impressed thus far in 2023, slashing .290/.397/.645 with five home runs, 15 RBI, 12 runs and two steals through 20 games.
Apr 18, 2023
Jumps to leadoff spot Tuesday
Outman is batting leadoff for the Dodgers on Tuesday against the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Outman moves to the very top of the lineup with Mookie Betts going on paternity leave. The 25-year-old outfielder boasts a 1.031 OPS with three home runs, 10 RBI, two stolen bases and nine runs scored through 17 games this season with Los Angeles.
Apr 17, 2023
Sitting Monday against Mets
Outman is not in the starting lineup for Monday's tilt against the Mets, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman will be on the bench with southpaw David Peterson on the mound for the Mets on Monday. Trayce Thompson gets the start in center and will hit seventh.
Apr 9, 2023
Remains red hot Saturday
Outman went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Outman helped give the Dodgers an early lead with his booming 423-foot, two-run home run in the first inning. It was the rookie's second homer in as many games and his third of the campaign. Outman has staked his place as an everyday player for the Dodgers early in the season with a .348/.516/.913 slash line along with nine RBI and a stolen base through his first 31 plate appearances.
Apr 8, 2023
Homers again in loss
Outman went 1-for-3 with a homer in Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Outman connected on a solo homer in the second off Madison Bumgarner to make it 2-1 Dodgers. That's the second homer of the season for the rookie outfielder, and he's already driven in seven runs. Outman is hitting an unsustainable .350/.519/.850 in the young year, but it's hard to not be impressed with what the 25-year-old has done to open the campaign.
Apr 4, 2023
Hits two triples in win
Outman went 2-for-5 with two triples, three RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 13-4 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
After collecting two hits, including a home run, during Opening Day, Outman was held hitless over the next three games (four at-bats). However, he was back in the starting lineup Monday and notched his first two career triples, including a go-ahead two-run hit in the fifth that ended up being the difference in the game. Outman's versatile skillset makes him an extremely intriguing fantasy option, but his overall value will be tied to how often he can carve out playing time in the Dodgers's crowded outfield.

Notches first big-league steal
Outman went 0-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After appearing only as a late defensive replacement when Arizona started a southpaw Saturday, Outman was back in the lineup as Los Angeles' starting center fielder Sunday. The rookie drew a walk in his first place appearance and was hit by a pitch in his third. Following the HBP, Outman swiped second base, but the Dodgers were unable to bring him home. The 25-year-old stole 23 bases in the minors as recently as 2021, so there is certainly some speed to his game. However, it's worth noting that manager Dave Roberts decided to pinch hit for Outman with light-hitting backup backstop Austin Barnes when the Diamondbacks brought in a lefty reliever in the ninth, so it appears that the team doesn't yet feel comfortable letting the rookie face left-handed pitching.

Gets night off against lefty
Outman is not in the lineup for Saturday's showdown against the Diamondbacks, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman has started the first two games in center for the Dodgers, but with a left-hander on the mound in the form of Madison Bumgarner, Trayce Thompson will patrol center and hit seventh. Outman will likely not see much playing time against southpaws to at least open the 2023 season.

Homers, scores three runs Thursday
Outman went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and three runs scored in Thursday's 8-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Making the start in center field, Outman took Cole Sulser deep in the sixth inning with a 390-foot shot which was measured at 105 mph off the bat. He also reached on a single and a walk, scoring on each of those occasions, as well. Outman has strikeout concerns and probably isn't going to play against lefties, but his power and speed potential makes him worth rostering in deeper formats.

Starting in CF in opener
Outman is starting in center field and batting eighth in the Dodgers' season opener Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Chris Taylor is on the bench. Outman made the Opening Day roster in Los Angeles following a fantastic showing in spring camp, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has stated that the 25-year-old will play regularly. He posted a stellar .978 OPS with 31 home runs, 106 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 101 runs scored over 125 games last season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, and he also went 6-for-13 (.462) in his first four major-league games. There's a whole lot of fantasy upside in his profile.

Likely to get ample playing time
Outman should play often with Chris Taylor expected to being the regular season facing mostly left-handed pitchers, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Early this spring, Taylor was considered the favorite to be the Dodgers' primary center fielder, but his continued struggles to make contact during the exhibition slate along with a need for him to spend more time at shortstop due to Gavin Lux's season-ending knee injury has shifted that narrative. Outman is now likely to see the most starts in center among Los Angeles' various options, a role he has earned with an excellent showing this spring that includes a .300/.390/.600 slash line, three homers and 11 RBI. Meanwhile, Taylor appears lined up to play more of a platoon role against lefties, at least at the start of the season.

Will be on Opening Day roster
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced Thursday that Outman has made the Opening Day roster, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman might not get enough starts out of the gate to offer immediate fantasy relevance, but he's certainly a name to keep on watch lists as the season plays out. The 25-year-old outfielder slashed .294/.393/.586 with 31 home runs and 13 stolen bases in 125 games last summer between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, and he also went 6-for-13 during a short stint with Los Angeles between late July and early August. He's going to be a good one.

Has chance to make roster
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts implied Saturday that there's a chance Outman could make the Opening Day roster, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Roberts calls Outman "big league ready", but that "how [the Dodgers] shake out is a different question. The outfielder has performed well over the Cactus League season, and homered for the second time this spring on Saturday. Even if the 25-year-old makes the roster he won't be guaranteed significant playing time, but he's a name to monitor in deeper leagues, and is certainly talented enough to consider in keeper/dynasty formats.

Boosting roster chances this spring
Outman has gone 6-for-13 with a triple, a home run, three runs, four RBI and a 2:3 BB:K through 17 Cactus League plate appearances.
ANALYSIS
Outman showed well in a brief cup of coffee with the Dodgers last season, going 6-for-13 with a pair of doubles, a homer and three RBI over four contests, though he also struck out seven times. His stat line so far this spring is eerily similar, with the notable exception that he's fanning less often. Both sample sizes are admittedly small, but with Los Angeles parting ways with Cody Bellinger in the offseason and recently announcing that Chris Taylor will play more shortstop due to Gavin Lux's season-ending knee injury, there may be room for Outman on the Opening Day roster. In terms of fantasy, he's ascending up dynasty ranks and could be an impactful player in all formats as soon as this season if he's able to secure substantial playing time with the big-league club.

Finishes season with flourish
In his final 16 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Outman slashed .313/.405/.672 with six home runs, 12 RBI, 15 runs and a stolen base.
ANALYSIS
Outman's strong finish put the finishing touches on a breakthrough campaign during which he slashed .294/.392/.586 with 31 homers, 106 RBI, 101 runs and 13 stolen bases over 125 contests between Double-A and Triple-A. Among the highlights was a four-game stretch in late August during which the 25-year-old twice hit for the cycle. Of course, Outman's greatest achievement this season was getting his first major-league callup -- he impressed during his time with the big-league club, slashing .462/.563/.846 with a home run and three RBI over 16 plate appearances (albeit with a 43.8 percent strikeout rate). Outman's excellent season has created the possibility that he could play a significant role on the major-league team as soon as next season.

Hits for cycle in Triple-A
Outman went 5-for-5 with a double, two triples, a home run and six RBI for Triple-A Oklahoma City in a win over El Paso on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Outman not only hit for OKC's first cycle in more than 11 years, he also launched a walkoff home run. The 25-year-old is in the midst of his finest minor-league campaign, slashing .286/.387/.566 with 23 homers, 84 RBI and 12 stolen bases between Double-A and Triple-A. He has a lot of swing-and-miss in his game, but he was productive in a four-game stint in the majors several weeks ago and could get another call-up late in the season.

Optioned to Triple-A
Outman was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He hit .462 with seven strikeouts and one home run in four games (13 at-bats) during his first career cup of coffee in the majors. Outman has impressive physical tools but his hit tool is suspect.

Draws another start
Outman will start in left field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Giants, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Outman will be getting his third start in the corner outfield in four games after he began his big-league career by going 5-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and a walk. Though his hot bat has earned him more work early on than expected, the Dodgers likely aren't counting on Outman playing well enough to stick as a near-everyday player. Instead, the newly acquired Joey Gallo and Trayce Thompson are likely settle into a platoon at the corner-outfield spot opposite Mookie Betts, at least until Chris Taylor (foot) is ready to come off the injured list.

Fantastic in debut
Outman went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three total RBI and two total runs scored in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Outman's debut was a dazzler, which saw him go yard in his first big-league at-bat. He added a single in the seventh inning and an RBI double in the eighth. The 25-year-old isn't considered a high-rated prospect, but he did alright with a 2.225 batting average and .815 OPS with five home runs, 24 RBI, 13 runs scored and four stolen bases in 22 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City after a midseason promotion. Outman will likely be limited to the occasional start versus right-handed pitchers, though more performances like his debut could offer him a corresponding boost in playing time while Chris Taylor (foot) works through a rehab assignment in the coming week.

Joining big club
Outman was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
A 25-year-old athletic outfielder, Outman has a .279/.381/.534 slash line with a 28.5 K% and 12.6 BB% in 404 plate appearances split between Double-A and Triple-A this year. He takes the place of Zach McKinstry, who was shipped to the Cubs in exchange for reliever Chris Martin. Outman will serve as a lefty bench bat, defensive replacement and occasional starter.

Advances to Triple-A
The Dodgers promoted Outman from Double-A Tulsa to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Outman received the bump up to the Dodgers' top affiliate after slashing .297/.397/.556 with 16 home runs and seven stolen bases across 305 plate appearances at Tulsa. The 25-year-old possesses a spot on the Dodgers' 40-man roster, so he could be a candidate to join the big club later in the season if he continues to perform well at Triple-A and if Los Angeles has a need for an extra outfielder.
