Taken off 40-man roster
Alexander cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Alexander is now no longer part of the Brewers' 40-man roster. The swingman has missed a large chunk of this season with a shoulder issue, and while he is healthy now, he has just a 5.23 ERA and 18:9 K:BB over 31 innings this year in the minors.

Activated, optioned to Triple-A
The Brewers reinstated Alexander (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A right shoulder strain forced Alexander to the injured list before the start of the season. His last three rehab starts came in Nashville, and he will remain in Triple-A after surrendering just three runs on 15 hits and four walks while striking out six batters through 15 innings. If he continues at his current pace in Nashville, Alexander could potentially work his way back onto the Brewers as a multi-inning reliever.

Beginning rehab assignment
Alexander (shoulder) is beginning a rehab assignment Friday in the Arizona Complex League, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Alexander has been on the shelf since February because of a right rotator cuff strain, but he's finally ready to take the mound again in live games. If all goes well on the farm, the 30-year-old should be an option for the Brewers' pitching staff toward the end of June.

Placed on 60-day IL
Alexander was placed on the 60-day injured list on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
By placing Alexander on the 60-day IL, the Brewers now have an open spot on the 40-man roster for Justin Wilson, who was signed on Saturday. Alexander is expected to be out until the end of May because of right-shoulder soreness, and this transaction doesn't change that timeline.

Out with shoulder injury
Alexander will be sidelined until around late May due to right shoulder soreness, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Alexander's shoulder started bothering him last month when he ramped up his throwing program. It doesn't appear there's concern about any structural damage, but he'll need some down time. If healthy, Alexander could be used in a swingman role for the Brewers this season.

Back in majors
Alexander was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Matt Bush (illness) heading to the injured list, Alexander will rejoin the Brewers' bullpen for the final two games of the season. Alexander has allowed at least three earned runs in four of his last five appearances -- his last coming on Sept. 18 against the Yankees, when he allowed three earned runs over 3.2 innings.
Sep 21, 2022
Sent back to minors
The Brewers optioned Alexander to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Milwaukee is scheduled to return starter Eric Lauer (elbow) from the injured list to take the hill for Friday's game in Cincinnati, so Alexander will end up losing his spot in the rotation and on the 28-man active roster. After being promoted from Nashville on Aug. 22, Alexander made six appearances (four starts) and turned in a 5.87 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 23 innings.

Allows three runs in no-decision
Alexander allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five in 3.2 innings during Sunday's loss to the Yankees. He didn't factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Alexander struggled against the long ball during Sunday's high-scoring matchup, giving up three home runs over the first three innings of the game, including back-to-back solo shots in the top of the third inning. The right-hander has given up at least three runs in four of his last five outings, and he's posted a 6.14 ERA and 20:8 K:BB in 22 innings during that time. He projects to make his next start on the road against Cincinnati on Friday.
Sep 10, 2022
Tagged for five runs
Alexander (2-3) took the loss to the Reds on Friday, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out four and walking one over 5.1 innings.
ANALYSIS
Alexander tossed 58 of 88 pitches for strikes in Friday's outing, giving up five earned runs across 5.1 frames. Alexander has been used as both a starter and reliever throughout the season, but has struggled in both roles. Friday's outing was the ninth time in 17 outings that he has given up two or more runs. He has just three scoreless appearances totaling 4.2 innings. Alexander has made it through the sixth inning once this season, resulting in his only quality start. The righty will take a 5.29 ERA into his next appearance.
Sep 4, 2022
Handed second loss
Alexander (2-2) took the loss during Sunday's 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
Alexander struggled with traffic on the bases each inning but was able to limit the damage to single runs in the second, third and fifth innings. The 29-year-old struggled to find the zone as he issued a season-high four free passes and tossed only 47 of 86 pitches for strikes. Alexander carries a 5.03 ERA and 1.58 WHIP into his next start, slated for next weekend against Cincinnati.
Aug 31, 2022
Solid over five
Alexander gave up one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings in a 4-2 loss to the Pirates on Tuesday. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Alexander took advantage of his start against the weak Pirates lineup to log five innings of work for the first time since July 17. Alexander has been shuttling between the minors and the big leagues lately and had previously worked out of the bullpen when making appearances for the Brewers in August. He threw 59 pitches against the Pirates and looked in control by only giving up the one run on a single. Alexander lowered his ERA to 4.97 with the performance. He is tentatively expected to make his next start at Arizona as Aaron Ashby remains sidelined with shoulder inflammation.
Aug 29, 2022
In line for start Tuesday
The Brewers list Alexander as their probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Tuesday would have been Adrian Houser's turn through the rotation, but the Brewers could look to push back his next start or deploy him in tandem with Alexander after the 29-year-old righty labored in his return from the injured list last Wednesday, when the Dodgers knocked him around for five earned runs over 2.1 innings. In that same contest, Alexander came on to record 10 outs in relief, though he was tagged for three runs on three hits and one walk. The matchup with the Pirates is a far more favorable one on paper for Alexander, but his modest results in the big leagues to date don't make him the safest streaming option.

Called up Monday
Alexander was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Alexander was sent to the minors Wednesday but will rejoin the big-league club after Aaron Ashby (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday. The Brewers haven't yet indicated what role Alexander will play following his call-up, but it's possible that he serves as a starting pitcher in Ashby's absence. Over 12 appearances (seven starts) in the majors this year, Alexander has posted a 5.18 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 48.2 innings.
Aug 17, 2022
Sent down by Brewers
Alexander was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Alexander made two relief appearances for the Brewers after being called up last week, and he tossed 3.2 scoreless innings. However, he'll head back to the minors after Trevor Kelley was recalled from Nashville on Wednesday.
Aug 7, 2022
Rejoins major-league club
Alexander was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old was sent to Triple-A in mid-July and will return to Milwaukee after spending a couple weeks in the minors. Alexander has a 5.60 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 23:19 K:BB across 45 innings and should work as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen.
Jul 19, 2022
Sent back to minors
The Brewers optioned Alexander to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
ANALYSIS
After making starts in his first two appearances of the month for the Brewers, Alexander was deployed in a bulk-relief role in his final outing before the All-Star break in Sunday's loss to the Giants. He struggled mightily while working out of the bullpen, giving up seven earned runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings. The Brewers aren't certain to get Adrian Houser (elbow) back from the 15-day injured list by the time the team next requires a fifth starter July 26 versus the Twins, so prospect Ethan Small could be a candidate to get a call-up from Nashville to fill Alexander's spot in the rotation.
Jul 17, 2022
Struggles in bulk role
Alexander didn't factor into the decision during Sunday's 9-5 defeat at the hands of the Giants, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
ANALYSIS
Alexander was originally tabbed to start Sunday's game, but manager Craig Counsell opted to go with Aaron Ashby instead with Alexander to follow. Ashby surrendered two runs in one plus innings and the 29-year-old was brought in during the second without much better fortune. He was sunk by a five-run third that opened with three straight hits and concluded with four two-out runs, then served up a two-run Brandon Belt homer in the sixth. Alexander has now been tagged for seven runs in two of his last seven appearances and ends the first half with a 5.60 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 23 strikeouts in 45 innings across 10 appearances and seven starts.
Jul 16, 2022
No longer starting Sunday
Alexander will not start Sunday's game against the Giants, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The Brewers will start Aaron Ashby on short rest instead, though a reason for the pitching change was not announced. Something may be off with Alexander -- he threw only 73 pitches across four innings in a rain-shortened outing Tuesday and Ashby just threw 101 pitches Wednesday.
Jul 13, 2022
Rain-shortened start Tuesday
Alexander allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one in four innings of a 6-3 win Tuesday in Minnesota. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Alexander gave up a solo shot to Jorge Polanco to lead off the second inning. In the fourth, he allowed a walk and two singles with two outs to account for the other run. He did not come back out for the fifth inning, having tossed only 73 pitches, following the game's second rain delay at the end of the fourth. The rookie has struggled of late, giving up 17 runs (15 earned) on four homers and a 10:8 K: BB in 17.2 innings over five appearances.
Jul 11, 2022
Receiving another start
Alexander is listed as the Brewers' scheduled starting pitcher for Tuesday's game in Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Alexander will be making his second straight turn through the rotation and his seventh start with the big club overall, despite being tagged for seven runs (six earned) across 5.1 innings his last time out July 5 against the Cubs. With Adrian Houser (elbow) on the shelf through the All-Star break, Alexander tentatively lines up for two starts this week, with his second outing set to come Sunday in San Francisco.
Jul 5, 2022
Hit hard by Cubs
Alexander (2-1) took the loss during Tuesday's 8-3 defeat at the hands of the Cubs, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
ANALYSIS
Alexander kept Chicago off the board through three innings but surrendered one run in the fourth and three apiece in the fifth and sixth to fall in line for the loss. The 29-year-old tossed 60 of 94 pitches for strikes, however only two were of the swinging variety and he recorded two strikeouts or fewer for the sixth time in eight appearances. Alexander should stick in the rotation while Adrian Houser (elbow) is sidelined and is slated to start again next week against Minnesota.
Jul 4, 2022
Rejoining rotation
Alexander is listed as the Brewers' starting pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Cubs in Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Alexander made his last two appearances out of the Milwaukee bullpen, but he'll be plugged back into the rotation this week with the team in need of a fifth starter after Adrian Houser (elbow) landed on the 15-day injured list Friday. Over his five starts prior to moving to the bullpen, Alexander turned in a 3.21 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 13:11 K:BB in 28 innings.
Jun 30, 2022
Works out of bullpen
Alexander appeared in relief Tuesday in the Brewers' 5-3 win over the Rays, recording two outs while allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and two walks.
ANALYSIS
Alexander had started in each of his first five appearances with Milwaukee and posted a 3.21 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over those outings, but he looks as though he'll move to the bullpen after the Brewers welcomed Brandon Woodruff back from the injured list Tuesday. Milwaukee still has room in the rotation for a fifth starter while both Freddy Peralta (lat) and Aaron Ashby (forearm) remain on the IL, but Chi Chi Gonzalez looks like he'll take on that role rather than Alexander.
Jun 24, 2022
Earns win Thursday
Alexander (2-1) secured the win against St. Louis on Thursday, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five.
ANALYSIS
Alexander gave up a pair of first-inning runs but settled down thereafter to allow only two more runs the rest of the way. The right-hander registered a mere five swinging strikes but nonetheless managed a career-high five punchouts. Alexander's lack of strikeout upside limits his fantasy value, but he has thus far registered a solid 3.21 ERA through 28 major-league innings while picking up two straight wins. His 1.64 WHIP and 3.5 BB/9 provide reason to temper expectations, however.
Jun 19, 2022
Picks up first win
Alexander (1-0) earned the win against the Reds on Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out two and walking one in 5.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
Saturday's start was Alexander's fourth of the season. He threw 50 of 80 pitches for strikes, walking just one batter. Although he allowed eight hits, he limited the damage to just two earned runs and three total runs and picked up the win. Alexander will carry a 2.42 ERA into his next appearance.
Jun 12, 2022
Yields one run in no-decision
Alexander allowed one run on seven hits and three walks over 4.2 innings in Sunday's win over Washington. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
Alexander escaped a few jams before the Nationals finally broke through in the fifth inning with Josh Bell's RBI sacrifice fly that knocked Alexander from the game. He's now allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his first three MLB starts. The 29-year-old is sporting a 2.16 ERA with a lackluster 6:8 K:BB through 16.2 frames. Alexander is expected to start in Cincinnati next week.
Jun 8, 2022
Tosses five innings versus Phillies
Alexander pitched five innings, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out one in the loss to the Phillies on Tuesday. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Alexander surrendered a sacrifice fly to Bryce Harper in the top of the third inning, accounting for the only run against him Tuesday. He has now pitched 12 innings over his first two career starts, giving up just three runs combined. With Brandon Woodruff (ankle) expected to return soon, Alexander may not get another turn in the rotation before returning to Triple-A Nashville, but he has certainly earned more opportunities down the line.
Jun 4, 2022
Slated to start Tuesday
Alexander will start Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Alexander posted a quality start during his major-league debut Wednesday against the Cubs, as he allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out three in seven innings. The right-hander will be rewarded with another turn in the major-league rotation, but it's possible that he heads back to the minors following Tuesday's start since Brandon Woodruff (ankle) hopes to return after a minimal IL stint.
Jun 2, 2022
Tosses quality start in MLB debut
Alexander did not factor in the decision against the Cubs on Wednesday, completing seven innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out three batters.
ANALYSIS
Alexander looked like he could be in for a short big-league debut after allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base and yielding a pair of runs in the first inning. However, the 29-year-old settled in from there and allowed only one run the rest of way, giving Milwaukee seven innings on a relatively efficient 97 pitches. Alexander notched only four swinging strikes among those pitches, so he was far from dominant, but he may have earned another turn in the rotation with the effective outing. That Alexander made a start in the majors at all is no small feat -- the right-hander went undrafted out of both high school and college and was released from the Angels organization in 2020 before finally getting his big-league opportunity with Milwaukee.
Jun 1, 2022
Promoted for Wednesday's start
Alexander had his contract selected from Triple-A Nashville ahead of his start against the Cubs on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Brewers announced Alexander as Wednesday's starter following Tuesday's loss in Chicago, and he's now officially been added to the 40-man roster. The 29-year-old has a 2.64 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 33:12 K:BB across 47.2 innings for Nashville this season, and with a decent performance, he could receive additional opportunities in Milwaukee's rotation since Brandon Woodruff (ankle) and Freddy Peralta (lat) are sidelined.
