Cracks roster for WC Series
Wiemer is part of the Brewers' roster for their Wild Card Series matchup against the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer finished out the regular season with Triple-A Nashville, but the Brewers have opted to carry seven different outfielders into this best-of-three series versus Arizona. The 24-year-old could serve as a late-inning defensive replacement or maybe even a pinch-hitting option against lefties. He posted an .815 OPS against southpaws this year at the MLB level.
Sep 17, 2023
Sent back to Triple-A
Wiemer was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer operated as Milwaukee's primary center fielder earlier this season, but he's worked in a reserve role of late and has a .483 OPS in 61 at-bats since the start of August. Blake Perkins (oblique) was reinstated from the injured list in a corresponding move.
Sep 11, 2023
Joins lineup Monday
Wiemer (mouth) will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer suffered a mouth laceration when he was involved in a collision in the outfield during Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Yankees in 13 innings, but the injury won't be anything that keeps the rookie out as the Brewers begin a four-game set with Miami. Though he's largely served as a late-inning defensive replacement in recent weeks, Wiemer will pick up his first start since Sept. 3 on Monday.

Dealing with laceration in mouth
Wiemer sustained a laceration in his mouth on a collision during Sunday's game against the Yankees, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer entered Sunday's matchup as a defensive replacement in the bottom of the ninth inning and went 1-for-1 with a double, a run and an RBI in the extra-innings loss. He sustained his injury on an outfield collision, but it's unclear whether he'll be forced to miss additional time. He should tentatively be considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's series opener against Miami.
Aug 23, 2023
Sitting out Wednesday
Wiemer is not in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt versus the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer was a late addition to Tuesday's lineup in what is now his lone start over the Brewers' last four games. He's seen a dramatic dip in playing time over the last two weeks as Milwaukee turns to Sal Frelick in center field and Tyrone Taylor in right. Frelick is dealing with a hamstring injury, though, which could potentially offer a reprieve for Wiemer if an injury list stint is ultimately needed.
Aug 22, 2023
Added to lineup Tuesday
Wiemer has been added to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer will cover center field and bat ninth versus the Twins and right-hander Bailey Ober after Sam Frelick was scratched due to lingering right hamstring soreness. Wiemer is slashing just .215/.290/.379 across his first 115 major-league games this year and has seen a significant dip in playing time in recent weeks.
Aug 20, 2023
Playing time trending down
Wiemer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer has operated as Milwaukee's primary center fielder for most of the season, but he'll sit Sunday for the sixth time in the past eight games as it appears his .672 OPS has caught up to him. Sal Frelick is dealing with a hamstring injury, so it'll be Christian Yelich, Tyrone Taylor and Mark Canha starting from left to right in the outfield.
Aug 19, 2023
Sitting Saturday
Wiemer isn't in the Brewers' lineup Saturday against the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
After starting nearly every game for Milwaukee for most of the season, Wiemer will take a seat for the fifth time in the Brewers' last seven games. Sal Frelick will start in center field instead while Tyrone Taylor plays in right.
Aug 17, 2023
Takes seat Thursday
Wiemer is not in the lineup Thursday against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Sal Frelick will start in center field and bat cleanup as Tyrone Taylor patrols right field and hits ninth. Wiemer is slashing .227/.282/.318 in 71 plate appearances since the All-Star break.
Aug 15, 2023
Not starting Tuesday
Wiemer isn't in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Tuesday will mark the third consecutive game Wiemer hasn't started in despite boasting a .296 batting average (8-for-27) since the beginning of August. Sal Frelick will slide to center field in Wiemer's place, allowing Tyrone Taylor to start in right and bat ninth.
Aug 13, 2023
Sitting Sunday
Wiemer is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer was omitted from the starting lineup for the second consecutive game. The rookie has been having a solid August, but Tyrone Taylor will start in place of him again, batting ninth.
Aug 12, 2023
Sitting Saturday
Wiemer isn't in the Brewers' lineup Saturday against the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer is 8-for-27 (.296) with three RBI since the beginning of August and will catch a breather Saturday. Sal Frelick will shift to center field in Wiemer's absence, allowing Tyrone Taylor to start in right field and bat ninth.
Aug 11, 2023
Returns to lineup
Wiemer (illness) is starting in center field and batting ninth Friday against the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
A stomach bug prevented Wiemer from playing Wednesday against the Rockies, but the issue seems to have subsided ahead of Friday's contest. The 24-year-old outfielder is slashing .304/.360/.348 with three RBI and two runs scored since the beginning of August.
Aug 9, 2023
Sits due to stomach ailment
Wiemer was scratched from the Brewers lineup Wednesday against the Rockies due to a stomach virus, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer is one of two Brewers regulars sitting out Wednesday due to an illness, as Carlos Santana will hit the bench for a second straight game. It's unclear whether Wiemer and Santana are dealing with the same type of ailment, but in any case, the Brewers are hopeful that both players will show enough improvement in their respective recoveries to rejoin the starting lineup following Thursday's team off day. Blake Perkins will pick up the start in center field Wednesday in Wiemer's stead.
Aug 9, 2023
Scratched from starting nine
The Brewers scratched Wiemer from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies due to an unspecified issue, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Blake Perkins will replace Wiemer in the starting nine in center field and as the Brewers' No. 9 hitter. The Brewers will likely provide an explanation for why Wiemer was scratched from the lineup later Wednesday.
Aug 7, 2023
Will get breather
Wiemer is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer has done a fair amount of hitting in recent weeks, but he has not handled right-handers well all season, and he will be held out Monday with righty Peter Lambert on the mound for the Rockies. Sal Frelick will man center field in Wiemer's place.
Jul 30, 2023
Out of Sunday's lineup
Wiemer is not in the lineup for Sunday's game in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer started the past five games after sitting twice last weekend, and he'll return to the bench Sunday after going 4-for-17 with a double, three RBI and a run during that stretch. Blake Perkins will start in center field and bat ninth.
Jul 23, 2023
Sitting in second straight
Wiemer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer is on the bench for a second straight day, with Adam McCalvy of MLB.com relaying that the consecutive absences fall in the category of a baseball decision rather than the outfielder dealing with an unreported injury. Though he already looks like one of the better defensive center fielders in the majors, the rookie's production at the plate has slipped of late. Since the start of July, Wiemer is slashing .200/.333/.300 with two extra-base hits in 16 games.
Jul 22, 2023
Not in lineup
Wiemer will sit Saturday against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Sal Frelick was called up for the first time Saturday and could cut into Wiemer's playing time going forward, though he'll be right field on this occasion while Blake Perkins takes Wiemer's spot in center. Wiemer's strong defense in center field means he's been a productive enough player despite his .207/.292/.386 slash line (84 wRC+), but as the Brewers' outfield gets more crowded, he'll need to avoid a further dip at the plate if he's to remain a regular.
Jul 20, 2023
Sitting out Thursday
Wiemer is absent from the lineup for Thursday's tilt in Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
He'll take a seat in favor of Blake Perkins, who gets the start in center field. Wiemer is just 2-for-15 so far at the plate in the second half.
Jul 1, 2023
Not starting Saturday
Wiemer will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer has shown some encouraging signs this season, and his 11 homers and 10 steals through 80 games have helped prop up his fantasy value, but things have been trending in the wrong direction for him in recent weeks. Since June 9, he's hit .136/.246/.322 in 19 games while striking out 36.2 percent of the time. He'll get a rest Saturday with Blake Perkins taking over in center field.
Jun 29, 2023
In lineup after HBP
Wiemer (hand) is starting in center field and batting ninth Thursday versus the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer took a pitch off his left hand late in Wednesday's victory, but X-rays came back negative and he won't wind up missing any action. The 24-year-old has tallied 11 homers and 10 stolen bases across his first 78 major-league games this season with Milwaukee.
Jun 29, 2023
X-rays come back negative
X-rays taken of Wiemer's left hand came back negative after he was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's win over the Mets, MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer remained in the contest after being plunked by an Adam Ottavino offering in the eighth inning before being sent for precautionary X-rays after the game, which came back clean. It's possible the outfielder will get a day of rest if he's sore, but he's managed to avoid any broken bones.
Jun 27, 2023
Hits go-ahead homer
Wiemer went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 2-1 win over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer's two-run shot off Drew Smith in the sixth provided all the run support Milwaukee's pitching staff needed Monday night. Overall, the rookie's numbers don't look great, but he picked things up in June and is slashing .266/.337/.570 with six home runs, 16 RBI, three stolen bases and 14 runs scored over his last 24 games. Wiemer has a unique skill set that bodes well for fantasy production, but he's been a hit-or-miss player so far. Regardless, he figures to see regular playing time as long as Tyrone Taylor (elbow) and Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) are on the injured list.
Jun 17, 2023
Swats 10th homer
Wiemer went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer put the first two runs on the board for Milwaukee with a shot to right field in the third inning. It was his second consecutive contest with a long ball following a five-game stretch during which he went 0-for-16 with 11 strikeouts. In fact, the rookie had fanned at least twice in each of his past seven contests prior to his zero-punchout performance Saturday. While his struggles to make contact are clearly a concern, Wiemer's long ball made him the 11th player this season to reach double-digit homers and steals.
Jun 8, 2023
Enjoys best game of career
Wiemer went 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs, a double and five total RBI in a 10-2 rout of the Orioles on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer was massively productive out of the No. 9 hole for the Brewers, notching his first career multi-homer game and racking up a career-high four hits. Per Bally Sports Wisconsin, the center fielder's 11 total bases set a franchise rookie record. Wiemer is still batting just .231 on the season, but he's heated up significantly of late, slashing .481/.563/1.000 with three homers, nine RBI, seven runs, two stolen bases and a 5:4 BB:K during his current eight-game hitting streak.
Jun 3, 2023
Blasts two-run homer in second
Wiemer went 1-for-3 with two walks and a two-run home run in Friday's 5-4 win over the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer put the Brewers on the board with a two-run home run in the second, marking his sixth long ball of the season. The 24-year-old rookie has been thrust into an expanded role in 2023 due to injuries to Tyrone Taylor (elbow) and Garrett Mitchell (shoulder), and while Wiemer's .201/.271/.366 slash line doesn't pop off the page, he's showcased a versatile skill set by smashing six home runs and stealing nine bags through 55 games (181 plate appearances). He's also played an above-average center field, which should keep him in the lineup on a regular basis.
May 24, 2023
Goes yard in win
Wiemer went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer got the Brewers on the board in the third with a towering shot to center field but went down swinging his other two times up. It has been a rough go at the plate for the 24-year-old rookie, who is now slashing .204/.267/.365 with five homers, 14 RBI, 17 runs, five steals and 12:42 BB:K over 150 plate appearances. He has struck out multiple times in four of his last six games but is still garnering a majority of the starting share in center field.
May 20, 2023
Not in starting nine
Wiemer will sit Saturday against the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer sits for the first time since Garrett Mitchell went down with a torn labrum in mid-April, ending a streak of 26 consecutive starts. The regularly playing time hasn't led to much success at the plate, as he's hitting just .208/.273/.354, though his four homers and five steals have kept his fantasy value from bottoming out. Tyrone Taylor will be the center fielder Saturday.
May 17, 2023
Goes deep in win
Wiemer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer launched a solo home run off of Jordan Montgomery in the fifth to even the game at 2-2 but struck out his other three times up. It was his second homer in May and just his fourth of the year. The 24-year-old has struggled to get going at the plate since he opened up the year with a hit in seven straight games. He's now struck out 11 times over his last 22 plate appearances and is slashing just .208/.275/.360 with 11 extra base hits, 13 RBI, 16 runs and a 12:37 BB:K over 138 plate appearances thus far.
May 9, 2023
Drives in four runs
Wiemer went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer broke a scoreless tie with a three-run shot in the fifth inning. He then added an RBI double in the seventh, which ended up being the go-ahead run, before crossing home himself. Wiemer's last home run and multi-hit game happened April 26; in the nine games between those two performances, he went 4-for-26 (.154).
May 7, 2023
Records steal Sunday
Wiemer went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer picked up his second steal in the last three games, but he's hitting a meager .118 (2-for-17) through six contests in May. The outfielder hasn't been shy of the basepaths, swiping five bags on six attempts this season. He's slashing .208/.286/.327 with two home runs, seven RBI and 11 runs scored through 112 plate appearances.
Apr 26, 2023
Hits second home run
Wiemer went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer's second home run of the season was a solo shot in the eighth that gave the Brewers a 6-2 lead. He also had a double earlier in the game, giving him four multi-hit games this year. With Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) and Tyrone Taylor (elbow) out for extended periods, Wiemer should continue to act as an everyday player for Milwaukee.
Apr 24, 2023
On base three times Sunday
Wiemer went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and scored twice in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer had an impactful day at the plate. He doubled to lead off the fifth and came around to score off the bat of Christian Yelich. He then walked to kick things off in the seventh and later scored again after he stole second. It was Wiemer's second multi-hit effort over his last four games but just his third of the young season. He's struggled to hit for average but has maintained a patient eye at the plate, slashing .219/.315/.328 with a homer, five RBI, seven runs and a 9:15 BB:K over 73 plate appearances.
Apr 5, 2023
Clubs first big-league homer
Wiemer went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Getting the start in center field and hitting ninth, Wiemer crushed his first career homer off David Peterson in the second inning, driving the ball the opposite way over the wall in right field. The 24-year-old outfielder has looked great since his promotion, batting .353 (6-for-17) through five games, and it may not be long before Wiemer works his way into a more fantasy-friendly spot in the order.
Apr 5, 2023
Snags first steal
Wiemer went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's victory over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer reached base three times for the first time in his career, and he also picked up his first steal in the big leagues. He has not hit higher than ninth as of yet, but he has helped set the table for the top of the order, recording five hits and a pair of walks over 15 plate appearances.
Apr 3, 2023
Gets third straight start
Wiemer will start in right field and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Mets.
ANALYSIS
The righty-hitting Wiemer will be picking up his third consecutive start Monday, with the last two coming against right-handed pitchers. While he's up with the big club, the 23-year-old rookie looks like he'll be playing on an everyday basis in the outfield with Brian Anderson having moved back to the infield to cover third base in place of the injured Luis Urias (hamstring). Wiemer displayed some contact issues during his time in the high minors and could struggle to keep his batting average above .250, but his plus power and speed make him an intriguing fantasy option nonetheless while he's playing regularly.
Apr 1, 2023
Set for MLB debut
Wiemer was called up Saturday and will bat ninth and play center field against the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer missed out on the Opening Day roster but didn't have to wait long for a call-up, as Luis Urias (hamstring) got injured on Opening Day. Wiemer recorded a .761 OPS in 84 games for Double-A Biloxi while striking out 30.2 percent of the time, but he improved to an .888 OPPS and 19.5 percent strikeout rate in 43 games for Triple-A Nashville. He added 31 steals between the two stops. He could be set to fill the short side of a platoon in center field with Garrett Mitchell, though it will take a few more games to figure out exactly how the Brewers plan on dividing up their outfield at-bats.
Mar 31, 2023
Receiving promotion
The Brewers will promote Weimer to the major-league roster before Saturday's game against the Cubs, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wiemer came up short of making the Opening Day roster, but he'll receive a promotion to Milwaukee after missing just the first game of the year. The 23-year-old outfielder showed well in spring training, and he hit 21 homers with an .801 OPS for Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville in 2022 while stealing 31 bases. Because of his power/speed potential, Wiemer is definitely a prospect with fantasy upside if he secures a regular role.
