Confirmed starter for Game 2
Berrios will start Game 2 of the American League Wild Card Series on Wednesday against the Twins, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
The Blue Jays confirmed earlier in the day that Kevin Gausman will take the ball for Game 1, and it'll be Berrios who gets a shot in the second game of the series. The right-hander gave up four runs in each of his last two starts of the regular season, so he'll look for a better result in Wednesday's outing.

Strikes out 10 in loss
Berrios (11-12) took the loss Wednesday, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks over six innings against the Yankees. He struck out 10.
ANALYSIS
While Berrios ended his campaign with a season-high 10 strikeouts, he'd give up two runs on an Aaron Judge homer in the fourth inning before surrendering two more runs in the fifth, as the Yankees handed him a second straight loss. Berrios has allowed four runs in consecutive starts against New York after holding opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his previous three outings. The 29-year-old right-hander will finish the year with a 3.65 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 184 strikeouts across 32 starts (189.2 innings).

Falls to Yankees
Berrios (11-11) took the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings against the Yankees. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
Most of the damage against Berrios came in the first inning on Jake Bauers' three-run homer. While Berrios would settle down and hold the Yankees off the board until the sixth, he'd still ultimately wind up with his first loss in his last four outings. The 29-year-old Berrios had been pitching well coming into Thursday's appearance, with a 1.80 ERA with 22 strikeouts in his previous three starts (20 innings). He'll look to end a solid regular season on a high note in his next outing, currently scheduled as a home rematch with the Yankees next week.

K's eight in seven scoreless
Berrios (11-10) earned the win Friday, allowing five hits and zero walks over seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 win over Boston. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
This is the fourth time in 30 starts that Berrios has gone at least seven innings without allowing a run. After a rough August that saw him go 1-3 with a 5.53 ERA, Berrios has three consecutive quality starts in September with a 1.80 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 22 strikeouts over 20 innings. He'll look to continue this momentum and remain a key cog in the Blue Jays' playoff push in his next start, tentatively scheduled to take place in New York during a mid-week showdown against the Yankees.

Comes away with win Sunday
Berrios (10-10 got the win Sunday over the Royals, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings.
ANALYSIS
Berrios kept the Royals off the board through five frames but surrendered two extra base hits and a walk in the sixth which led to two runs. He had given up six home runs across his last three starts but was able to keep the ball in the park Sunday and picked up his first win since Aug. 5 while reaching seven innings for the first time since July 6. The 29-year-old has had an up and down season, but still sits at a respectable 3.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 160:49 K:BB in 171 innings and lines up for a start against the Red Sox his next time out.

Goes six innings in no-decision
Berrios did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings in a 6-5 win over the Athletics. He struck out seven.
ANALYSIS
Berrios blanked Oakland through his first four innings before giving up solo homers in the fifth and sixth. Still, it was an encouraging outing for the 29-year-old Berrios, who'd given up 10 runs over his previous two starts (12 innings). Overall, he's 9-10 with a 3.68 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 153:47 K:BB across 28 starts (164 innings) this season. Berrios is currently scheduled for a home matchup with the Royals in his next outing.
Aug 30, 2023
Hit hard in loss
Berrios (9-10) took the loss Tuesday as the Blue Jays fell 5-4 to the Nationals, giving up five runs on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out two.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander essentially made only two mistakes, but they resulted in a two-run homer by Carter Kieboom in the second inning and a three-run blast by Keibert Ruiz in the fifth. Berrios has served up multiple homers in three of his last four starts, a worrying trend as Toronto tries to claw its way back into the playoff picture, and he stumbles into the final month of the season having posted a 5.53 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB through 27.2 innings in August. Berrios will look to get back on track in his next outing, likely to come early next week in Oakland.
Aug 24, 2023
Falls to Orioles
Berrios (9-9) took the loss Thursday, allowing five runs on nine hits over six innings against Baltimore. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
Berrios delivered three perfect innings before running into trouble his second time through the order, ultimately allowing five runs on nine hits over his final three frames. After pitching to a 1.84 ERA across five starts in July, Berrios has surrendered 12 runs through his first four starts (20.2 innings) in August. Overall, the 29-year-old Berrios sports a respectable 3.55 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and 144:44 K:BB in 26 starts (152 innings) this season. He's currently in line for a favorable home matchup with the Nationals in his next outing.
Aug 18, 2023
Strong effort in no-decision
Berrios walked four but allowed just one hit over 5.2 frames Friday, taking a no-decision against the Reds. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
Berrios actually carried a no-hitter into the bottom of the sixth inning before Matt McLain broke it up with a single. He followed with a walk and a fielder's choice and, with his pitch count at an even 100 at that point, was pulled. Genesis Cabrera was then able to strand the starter's runner. The righty induced a season-high 19 swinging strikes on the night. Berrios' control and results have been hit-or-miss since the All-Star break, but this was his best effort even though he didn't get a win for his efforts.
Aug 12, 2023
Stumbles against Cubbies
Berrios (9-8) took the loss Friday as the Blue Jays fell 6-2 to the Cubs, giving up six runs (four earned) on nine hits over 4.1 innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.
ANALYSIS
While his defense did him no favors, Berrios dug his own hole by serving up homers to Nico Hoerner and Cody Bellinger in the first inning. The right-hander has been more lucky than good since the All-Star break, posting a 3.62 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB through 32.1 innings over his last six starts, but he'll look to rebound in his next start, which is likely to come next weekend in Cincinnati.
Aug 6, 2023
Gets back in win column
Berrios (9-7) picked up the win Saturday, giving up three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings in a 5-4 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out six without walking a batter.
ANALYSIS
While he fell one out short of his 13th quality start of the season, Berrios did collect his first win since June 24. The right-hander pitched well in between the Ws, however, posting a 2.55 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB through 35.1 innings prior to Saturday's effort. He'll look to carry that momentum forward into his next outing, likely to come at home next weekend against the Cubs.
Jul 30, 2023
Strong again in no-decision
Berrios did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing a run on six hits and two walks over six innings against the Angels. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
Berrios has now allowed two runs or fewer in five starts since the start of July -- he's worked to a 1.84 ERA in that span. Overall, the 29-year-old right-hander is 8-7 with a 3.31 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 123:40 K:BB across 22 starts (130.1 innings) this season. Berrios will look to keep rolling in his outing, currently lined up for next week in Boston.
Jul 25, 2023
Lasts five innings in no-decision
Berrios allowed two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Berrios did alright from a damage-prevention standpoint, but he needed 94 pitches (52 strikes) to complete five frames. The right-hander has been sharp lately, having allowed just three runs over his previous 18.1 innings. This was the second start in a row that he's walked four. Berrios is at a 3.40 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 117:38 K:BB through 124.1 innings over 21 starts this season. He's projected for a home start versus the Angels this weekend.
Jul 20, 2023
Fans nine in tough loss
Berrios (8-7) took the loss Wednesday as the Blue Jays fell 2-0 to the Padres, giving up two runs on four hits and four walks over six innings. He struck out nine.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander delivered his 11th quality start of the season on 106 pitches while generating an impressive 34 called or swinging strikes, but the Toronto offense couldn't solve Yu Darvish and the San Diego bullpen. Berrios' nine strikeouts tied his season high, and since the beginning of June he's posted a 2.83 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 52:15 K:BB over 54 innings. He'll try to get back in the win column in his next outing, set for early next week on the road against the Dodgers.
Jul 15, 2023
Settles for no-decision Friday
Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 7-2 win over the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
He tossed 61 of 90 pitches for strikes before exiting with a 2-1 lead, but Arizona tied it up in the seventh to cost the right-hander his ninth win. Berrios has been outstanding over his last 10 starts, posting a 2.37 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB through 60.2 innings, and if he stays on turn his next outing would come at home next week against the Padres.
Jul 7, 2023
Tosses seven one-hit frames
Berrios pitched seven scoreless innings against the White Sox in Game 1 of a doubleheader Thursday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out six batters in a no-decision.
ANALYSIS
The opening contest of the twin bill began as a pitcher's duel, with both Berrios and Chicago starter Lance Lynn tossing seven scoreless, one-hit frames. Both hurlers had to settle for a no-decision, as the game remained scoreless until a wild 11th frame during which the teams combined for eight runs. Though Berrios was unable to nab a win, this was arguably his best start of the campaign -- he has held an opponent scoreless over at least seven frames on two other occasions but had not yielded fewer than three hits in either of those outings. The right-hander has hit an occasional bump in the road this season but has been solid overall, posting a 3.50 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 101:29 K:BB across 108 innings.
Jul 5, 2023
Wednesday start postponed
Berrios won't start Wednesday against the White Sox because the game was postponed due to rain, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Blue Jays will play a doubleheader with the White Sox on Thursday, and Berrios figures to pitch in one of the two games. Berrios holds a 6.19 ERA and 1.38 WHIP alongside a 20:3 K:BB through 16 frames across his last three starts.
Jul 1, 2023
Gets no help in loss
Berrios (8-6) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs on five hits -- including three home runs -- over six innings as the Blue Jays fell 5-0 to the Red Sox. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
He traded goose eggs with James Paxton through four innings, but Boston's bats got to Berrios beginning in the fifth while Toronto's offense never woke up. It's the first time since May 1 that the right-hander has served up multiple homers in a game, and in the 10 starts between those outings he posted a 2.66 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 53:21 K:BB through 61 innings. Berrios lines up for one more start before the All-Star break, which is likely to come on the road next week against the White Sox.
Jun 25, 2023
Fans eight in eighth win
Berrios (8-5) picked up the win in Saturday's 7-3 victory over the A's, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander produced his fourth quality start in five June outings as he continues a resurgent campaign. Berrios has a 3.03 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB through 29.2 innings on the month, giving him plenty of momentum heading into his next start, which is likely to come at home next week against the Giants.
Jun 20, 2023
Struggles versus Miami
Berrios (7-5) took the loss Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk over four innings against the Marlins. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
Berrios flirted with a no-hitter last time out, but he couldn't replicate that form and struggled mightily versus Miami. It was just the third time all season that the right-hander had given up at least eight hits and five runs in a game and the first time since May 1. Despite the poor outing, Berrios still sports an above-average 3.64 ERA and 1.21 WHIP while posting a modest 79:26 K:BB through 15 starts (89 innings). He'll look to shake off Monday's outing next time out, which is tentatively scheduled for a home matchup versus the Athletics.
Jun 15, 2023
Carries no-hitter into seventh
Berrios (7-4) earned the win Wednesday, allowing three hits and one walk over 7.2 scoreless innings against Baltimore. He struck out five.
ANALYSIS
Berrios had a no-hitter going through six innings before surrendering a leadoff single to Adley Rutschman to start the seventh. He would allow just two more hits over his 7.2 innings of work to notch his seventh win of the season. The right-hander has won each of his last four decisions (spanning over six starts) while allowing two earned runs or fewer in each of his last five. Berrios has also lowered his ERA each month since the start of the season and now sports a 1.37 ERA in three June appearances.
Jun 9, 2023
Notches sixth win
Berrios (6-4) earned the win Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings against the Astros. He struck out two.
ANALYSIS
Berrios continues his hot streak, as he has now allowed just four runs across his last four starts. The former Twin also has 70 strikeouts through 13 appearances this year, which puts him on pace for his highest total since 2019. The right-hander is tentatively slated to face the Orioles on the road in his next start.
Jun 4, 2023
Silences Mets
Berrios did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over six innings against the Mets. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
Berrios turned in yet another strong outing Saturday, allowing just one extra base hit across six innings to tally his third quality start in his last four appearances. Across his last six starts (37.1 innings), Berrios owns a 2.17 ERA to pair with a 34:15 K/BB while having allowed three or fewer runs in every start. He is tentatively scheduled to take the mound next against the Astros at Rogers Centre.
May 29, 2023
Shuts out Twins over 5.2 innings
Berrios (5-4) got the win Sunday over the Twins, allowing no runs on four hits and five walks while striking out five over 5.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was able to work around five walks and keep the Twins off the scoreboard while tossing 94 pitches. Berrios got knocked around for 12 runs over his first two starts but has given up two runs or less in seven of his nine outings since. He's also exceeded five innings in eight consecutive starts and has provided the Jays with great length thus far. The 29-year-old is down to a 3.86 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 62:19 K:BB over 65.1 innings and is set up for a road matchup against the Mets next weekend.
May 23, 2023
Stymies Tampa Bay
Berrios (4-4) earned the win Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 7 innings against Tampa Bay. He struck out five.
ANALYSIS
Berrios certainly got enough run support in Toronto's 20-1 victory. However, the 28-year-old right-hander was impressive as well, pitching through seven innings for the third time this season. Berrios has been solid of late, allowing eight runs over his last four outings (25.1 innings). He lowered his ERA to 4.22 with a 1.28 WHIP and 57:14 K:BB through 59.2 innings this year.
May 19, 2023
Fans eight in quality start
Berrios (3-4) took the loss Thursday against the Yankees, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander was on the wrong end of the decision but still delivered his fourth quality start of the season, tossing 65 of 96 pitches for strikes before exiting. Since coughing up eight runs to the Royals in his season debut, Berrios has posted a 3.64 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 45:10 K:BB through 47 innings as he tries to put his awful 2022 behind him. His next outing figures to be a tough test however, as he's set to pitch early next week during a series in Tampa Bay.
May 14, 2023
Solid in no-decision
Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-2 win over Atlanta, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out three.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander came up one out short of his fourth quality start in his last five outings, and while he put plenty of traffic on the bases, the only damage off Berrios came on a two-run blast by Marcell Ozuna in the second inning. Berrios tossed 65 of 101 pitches for strikes, and he'll take a 4.70 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 44:11 K:BB through 46 innings into his next start, likely to come at home next week against the Yankees.
May 2, 2023
Gives up fives runs on 11 hits
Berrios did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing five runs on 11 hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against Boston. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
Berrios gave up three straight hits to start the game and found himself in an early 2-0 hole. The right-hander was able to settle down and got through the first with no more damage done and posted four scoreless frames before surrendering a solo shot to Jarren Duran and a two-run homer to Emmanuel Valdez in the sixth. Coming into the contest, Berrios had given up just 11 hits and three runs over his previous three starts (19 innings) and had a 18:2 K:BB during that stretch. However, his overall numbers have been marred by a couple of bad outings, as he currently holds a 5.29 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP over 34 innings.
Apr 25, 2023
Tosses seven scoreless innings
Berrios (2-3) earned the win Tuesday, allowing no runs on four hits and one walk over seven innings in a 7-0 win over the White Sox. He struck out nine.
ANALYSIS
Berrios turned in his best outing of the season Tuesday, giving up no runs for the first time in any of his five starts and setting a new high in punchouts with nine. The right-hander got out to a blazing start to the game, striking out the side in the top of the first and retiring 12 of his first 13 batters. Berrios owns a poor 4.71 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP and a 9.42 K/9 so far this season. However, brighter days appear to be ahead for Berrios considering he has allowed just three runs over his last 19 innings and has gone seven frames in each of his last two starts.
Apr 20, 2023
Takes loss despite solid outing
Berrios (1-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over seven innings against the Astros. He struck out three.
ANALYSIS
Berrios had his best outing of the season, completing seven full innings with just 77 pitches as he effectively pitched to contact. However, Toronto's bats were quiet, resulting in the right-hander's third loss in four games. The 28-year-old is tentatively slated to face the White Sox in his next start.
Apr 16, 2023
Set to start Wednesday
Berrios (knee) is listed as Toronto's probable starter for Wednesday's game at Houston, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander exited Friday's start against the Rays after being struck in the knee by an 111.8-mph comebacker, but it appears he's been cleared to make his next turn through the rotation. The injury was tough luck for Berrios, who allowed just one run across five innings Friday after he posted an 11.17 ERA in his first two starts of the season.
Apr 14, 2023
Expected to make next start
Berrios was limited to 77 pitches Friday against the Rays after taking an 111.8 mph Yandy Diaz comebacker off the inside of his left knee, but he is expected to make his next start, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite the early exit, this was still easily Berrios' best start of the year, as he gave up one earned run on four hits and zero walks while striking out six in five innings en route to his first win of the season. There's always a chance the knee feels worse in the coming days, but it's encouraging that manager John Schneider gave Berrios a vote of confidence right after the game. Assuming he stays on turn, Berrios would face the Astros in Houston next week.
Apr 9, 2023
Endures another poor outing
Berrios (0-2) took the loss against the Angels on Saturday, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over four innings.
ANALYSIS
Berrios cruised through two scoreless innings and was handed a four-run lead heading into the bottom of the third, but that's when things began to fall apart for him. The right-hander gave up three runs between the third and fourth frames and allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base in the fifth -- one on his own error. When Mike Trout slammed a three-run homer off reliever Adam Cimber one batter after his departure, Berrios became responsible for the loss. It's been a tough start to the season for Berrios, as he's allowed 12 earned runs through his first 9.2 innings.
Apr 3, 2023
Nickel-and-dimed by Royals
Berrios (0-1) gave up eight earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out seven in 5.2 innings Monday against the Royals. He took the loss.
ANALYSIS
He was BABIP'd (.500) to death in this one, and generally seven strikeouts and two walks while going five-plus frames in the first start of the year would be a strong outing, but that obviously wasn't the case here. Coming off a puzzling 2022 campaign where he put up uncharacteristically high ratios (5.23 ERA, 1.42 WHIP), Berrios did little to earn the trust of his fantasy managers, although at least the strikeouts were there. The second of his two starts this week is tentatively scheduled for Saturday in Anaheim.
Mar 22, 2023
Impresses against O's
Berrios struck out five over five-plus innings of one-run baseball in Wednesday's Grapefruit League start against the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
The only run allowed came on a solo homer off the bat to Terrin Vavra in the sixth. The right-hander scattered six hits and issued one free pass in the solid outing against the Baltimore lineup. Berrios disappointed in 2022 with a 5.23 ERA in his 172 innings over 32 starts, but the 28-year-old's previous success gives him a realistic chance to be a bounce back in the 2023 campaign.
Mar 14, 2023
Rough outing in WBC
Berrios took the loss in Sunday's WBC game against Venezuela, coughing up six runs (five earned) on five hits and two walks over just one inning. He struck out one.
ANALYSIS
The start was reminiscent of Berrios' struggles in 2022 for the Blue Jays as the right-hander missed his spots in the strike zone and got hit hard, with Anthony Santander's three-run homer being the biggest blow. Per Gregor Chisholm of The Toronto Star, Berrios has been working on some mechanical tweaks to improve his command, but it doesn't look like those efforts have paid off just yet. The 28-year-old had a 3.52 ERA and 26.1 percent strikeout rate in 2021 and his raw stuff isn't in question, but those numbers collapsed to 5.23 and 19.8 percent last year. Whether he can regain his prior form could be one of the keys to Toronto's fortunes this season, as well as those of fantasy GMs gambling on a rebound.
Mar 1, 2023
Solid spring debut
Berrios gave up two hits and a walk over two scoreless innings while striking out two in Tuesday's split-squad game against the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old right-hander is coming off the worst full season of his career, posting a 5.23 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 19.8 percent strikeout rate over 172 innings, so a good spring would go a long toward reassuring fantasy GMs considering whether to gamble on a rebound. Berrios is still locked into a rotation spot for the Blue Jays, but if his 2023 begins the way his 2022 ended, his leash could be fairly short.
Oct 4, 2022
Ends season in win column
Berrios (12-7) picked up the win in Monday's 5-1 victory over the Orioles, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out five.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander wasn't exactly sharp, tossing 58 of 91 pitches for strikes, but Berrios did what he needed to do to end the regular season with a win. The quality start was his 17th of the year, and he'll take a bit of momentum into the playoffs after an erratic campaign that left him with a 5.23 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 149:45 K:BB through 172 innings.
Sep 28, 2022
Fans seven in seventh loss
Berrios (11-7) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up five runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.1 innings as the Blue Jays were downed 5-2 by the Yankees. He struck out seven.
ANALYSIS
The seven Ks were his highest total since he fanned nine Yankees on Aug. 18, but that was the only silver lining to Berrios' performance. The right-hander had a run of three straight quality starts to begin September but has stumbled since, giving up 11 runs in his last two outings, and his 5.37 ERA and 1.43 WHIP through 166 innings on the year remain very disappointing considering he hadn't posted an ERA above 4.00 for a season since his 58.1-inning big-league debut in 2016.
Sep 23, 2022
Lasts just two innings
Berrios (11-6) took the loss Thursday, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk over two innings against Tampa Bay. He struck out one.
ANALYSIS
Berrios surrendered a leadoff home run to Jonathan Aranda on just the second pitch he threw and it was mostly downhill from there. The right-hander would go on to allow two more runs in the inning, and another three runs in the second inning before being replaced in the third. It was Berrios' shortest outing since his season opener on April 8 in which he lasted just one-third of an inning, and it snapped a streak of three consecutive quality starts. He lines up to face the Yankees in his next start at home.
Sep 17, 2022
Quality start and win
Berrios (11-5) earned the win Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings against the Orioles. He struck out three.
ANALYSIS
Berrios surrendered a two-run single to Gunnar Henderson to cut the Orioles' deficit to one in the third inning. The righty's last nine starts have been inconsistent as he has allowed four runs or more in three of them and two earned runs or fewer in six. In addition, the 28-year-old has thrown six innings or more in six of those games and four innings or fewer in two.
Sep 13, 2022
Quality start Monday
Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Monday's win over the Rays, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
The Blue Jays gave Berrios an extra day of rest to set him up for a key AL East clash rather than having him face the Rangers on Sunday, and the right-hander responded with his fourth quality start in his last five outings. He sports a 2.93 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB through 30.2 innings over that stretch, and while his brutal first half continues to muddy his overall numbers, Berrios appears to be rounding into form just in time for a playoff push.
Sep 10, 2022
No longer starting Sunday
Berrios was projected to start Sunday against the Rangers, but Trevor Richards will instead start a bullpen game for the Blue Jays, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With that, Berrios moves back to start Monday's home game against the Rays. Berrios should get the ball for two big interdivisional matchups next week, as the Orioles travel to Toronto next weekend. Berrios has endured a tough season to date (5.23 ERA, 1.39 WHIP), but the Blue Jays are still counting on the right-hander to help get them to the postseason.
Sep 6, 2022
Collects win No. 10
Berrios (10-5) picked up the win in the second game of Monday's doubleheader sweep of the Orioles, giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out two.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander wasn't dominant, but Berrios got plenty of run support in an eventual 8-4 victory as he put together his third quality starts in his last four outings. He seems to have put his struggles from earlier in the year behind him for the most part, and just in time for the Blue Jays' playoff push -- Berrios has posted a 3.33 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB through 24.1 innings over that four-start stretch.

Tosses six innings in quality start
Berrios did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-innings victory against the Red Sox. He allowed two runs on five hits and one walk over six innings with six strikeouts.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was sharp for the second straight start with the only damage on the night coming from a two-run home run off the bat of Franchy Cordero which just cleared the Green Monster. The 28-year-old's effort lowered his ERA on the season to 5.28 as he attempts to finish strong. Signs point in that direction as he had a 4.65 ERA since the start of July coming into Wednesday's start, including one start in which he was touched for eight runs. Additionally, his xFIP of 4.03 suggests the worst may be behind him. He tentatively lines up to face the Cubs next week.

Nine punchouts in win
Berrios (9-5) earned the victory Thursday against the Yankees, striking out nine in 6.2 innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits, a walk and a hit batsman.
ANALYSIS
Outside of the first three batters of the third inning, Berrios was excellent. In the third, he allowed a walk and hit a batter before a run-scoring single and an RBI groundout led to both of New York's runs. He scattered four hits over the rest of the outing and kept the Yankees off the board. It was his first good outing in August as he allowed 13 runs and four homers in 7.2 innings over his previous two starts. His next start will likely be in the middle of next week in Boston.
Aug 10, 2022
Wednesday's game postponed
Berrios won't start as scheduled Wednesday in Baltimore since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.
ANALYSIS
The Blue Jays have an off day Thursday but the Orioles do not, so the game won't be made up until early September. According to Hazel Mae of Sportsnet, Berrios will simply be pushed back to start Friday's series opener versus the Guardians.
Aug 6, 2022
Can't escape fourth inning
Berrios allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out one over 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Berrios gave up two home runs, though he initially stayed in the game after Nick Gordon's three-run blast in the fourth inning. The right-hander put two more runners on base before exiting. This is the sixth time Berrios has failed to complete five innings in a start, and it was his worst outing since he yielded eight runs to the Brewers on June 26. Through 118 innings overall, the 28-year-old has a mediocre 5.19 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP and 107:29 K:BB. He'll look to put this bad outing behind him in a projected road start in Baltimore next week.
Jul 31, 2022
Stellar in win
Berrios (8-4) earned the victory Tuesday over Detroit, striking out six in seven innings while allowing a run on three hits and a walk.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was highly efficient Sunday, needing just 80 pitches to complete the seven frames. The lone mark against him came on a Javier Baez solo homer to leadoff the fourth inning. Following that blast, he retired 12 of the last 13 batters he faced. Berrios has been up-and-down all season but put together a solid July, going 3-0 and posting a 3.00 ERA and 42:7 K:BB across 36 innings in six starts. His next start will likely be next weekend in Minnesota.
Jul 26, 2022
Just short of quality start
Berrios pitched 5.2 innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Berrios surrendered a solo home run to Dylan Carlson in the first inning before giving up two more runs in top of the third frame. The right-hander was later removed with two outs in the sixth inning after he allowed a second baserunner to reach. After surrendering 14 runs over 6.2 frames in his last two starts of June, Berrios has produced a 3.41 ERA with 36 strikeouts over 29 innings in five starts in July. The strong month has his season numbers down to a 5.20 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 100 punchouts over 107.1 frames in 20 outings.
Jul 17, 2022
Quality start vs. Royals
Berrios gave up two earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven in 6.1 innings Sunday against the Royals. He did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
Berrios logged his third straight quality start against a depleted Royals lineup. While Berrios' season ERA is 5.22, he has not given up more than three earned runs and has not pitched fewer than five innings in any of his last eight home starts. His road struggles will likely be put to the test next weekend in Boston.
Jul 13, 2022
Strikes out 13 for win
Berrios (7-4) gave up three earned runs on six hits and no walks while striking out 13 over six innings to earn the win in a 4-3 victory over the Phillies on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Berrios matched his season-high strikeout total en route to his second quality start in a row and his seventh win of the campaign. The 28-year-old right-hander had struggled immensely over the first three months of the season since signing a contract extension with the Blue Jays in the off-season. Even with this performance against the Phillies, Berrios has a bloated 5.38 ERA on the year and it will take many more quality outings to bring his numbers back down to where they had consistently been from 2017-2021. His 20 swings and misses over six frames show that he has the stuff to take his game to another level if he can put it all together. Look for Berrios to make his next start after the All-Star break.
Jul 12, 2022
Lines up for two-start week
Berrios will start Tuesday in the first contest of the Blue Jays' two-game series with the Phillies in Toronto, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Toronto held out hope that Kevin Gausman (ankle) would be ready to go for its first game of the week, but the right-hander apparently needs at least one more day to heal up from his injury. Due to off days last Thursday and on Monday, the Blue Jays will be able to turn to Berrios, who takes the hill on five days' rest. He'll tentatively line up for a two-start week, with his second turn set to come Sunday at home against the Royals in the Blue Jays' final game before the All-Star break.
Jul 6, 2022
Quality start Wednesday
Berrios pitched six innings, surrendering one run on four hits and a walk while striking out six in Wednesday's win over the Athletics. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was very effective in this one, tossing five scoreless innings to open the outing. The only blemish on his line came in the bottom of the sixth inning via a solo homer by Ramon Laureano. Berrios has now produced two strong starts in a row following two clunkers, giving up three runs over 11 innings while striking out nine. The 28-year-old is tentatively set to pitch again Tuesday against the Phillies.
Jul 1, 2022
Bounces back with win
Berrios (6-4) picked up the win Friday against the Rays, allowing two runs on eight hits in five innings, striking out three while walking two.
ANALYSIS
Berrios had allowed 14 runs in 6.2 innings across his previous two starts, so Friday's performance counts as a very encouraging one despite his low strikeout total. He was far from dominant, as he didn't record a single clean inning, but he worked out of enough jams to get the job done. He'll look to take another bite out of his 5.72 ERA in Oakland on Wednesday.
Jun 27, 2022
Rough outing in loss
Berrios (5-4) took the loss to the Brewers on Sunday, allowing eight runs on eight hits while striking out one and walking two across 2.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
It was another rough outing for Berrios as he allowed eight runs in 2.2 innings just one game after allowing six runs in four innings. Berrios threw 42 of 66 pitches for strikes in Sunday's contest. The righty has allowed three or more earned runs in nine of 15 appearances this season and possesses a 5.86 ERA.
Jun 21, 2022
Allows three homers in loss
Berrios (5-3) took the loss against the White Sox on Monday, yielding six runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out one batter over four innings.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was in constant trouble throughout the outing, as he allowed multiple baserunners and at least one run in each of his four frames. Three of the hits against him left the yard, and he managed only two swinging strikes among his 72 pitches. Berrios had been pitching well coming into the contest, recording three straight quality starts and striking out 26 batters over 22 innings during that stretch. Monday's blowup pushed the right-hander's ERA up to 5.11 on the campaign, third-worst among qualified big-league starters.
Jun 15, 2022
Strikes out eight Wednesday
Berrios allowed three runs on three hits and struck out eight in seven innings in a no-decision versus the Orioles on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Berrios turned in his third straight quality start, but Yimi Garcia couldn't maintain the lead for the Blue Jays in the eighth inning. Two of the hits Berrios allowed were home runs -- a two-run blast from Adley Rutschman and a solo shot by Ryan Mountcastle. Despite the long balls, it was a solid showing for Berrios, who trimmed his ERA to 4.65 with a 1.24 WHIP and 62:17 K:BB across 71.2 innings overall. He remains at a 5-2 record heading into next week's projected road start versus the White Sox.
Jun 11, 2022
Eight-inning win
Berrios (5-2) earned an eight-inning win against the Tigers on Friday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five and walking one.
ANALYSIS
Berrios picked up a dominant win against a floundering Tigers offense on Friday, his second win in a row. The eight-inning performance lowered his ERA to 4.73, the lowest it has been since April 30. The righty has had a disappointing season to this point, but perhaps his last two games signal that he is turning things around.
Jun 4, 2022
Fans career-high 13
Berrios (4-2) gave up two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out a career-high 13 batters Saturday against the Twins. He picked up the win.
ANALYSIS
This was Berrios' best start of the season and one of the best starts of his career. It comes on the heels of him giving up six earned runs in 2.1 innings against the Angels, so it's possible fantasy managers benched him ahead of this start. He got eight whiffs with his curveball and another eight with his sinker, as both pitches got whiffs over 60% of the time in this one. Berrios averaged 94.3 mph with his fourseam fastball, up from 93.8 mph on the season. He lines up to face the Tigers in Detroit next weekend.
May 29, 2022
Struggles in short start
Berrios allowed six runs on six hits and a walk with one strikeout in 2.1 innings, taking a no-decision versus the Angels on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Berrios had posted quality starts in his last two games, but he had no such fortune Sunday. Shohei Ohtani took him deep in his first two at-bats, and Berrios didn't complete three innings in the back-and-forth contest. The right-hander has had his ups and downs this year with a 5.62 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB across 49.2 innings in his 10 starts. He's now given up nine homers, so he'll be hoping to keep the ball in the yard better next weekend against the Twins.
May 24, 2022
Settles for no-decision Monday
Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 7-3 extra-inning loss to the Cardinals, allowing three runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander pounded the zone in his second straight quality start and fourth of the season, tossing 71 of 102 pitches for strikes. The seven whiffs were also a season high for Berrios, and since stumbling out of the gate in early April he has a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB through his last seven outings and 42 innings.
May 17, 2022
Earns win after seven scoreless
Berrios (3-2) got the win Tuesday after pitching seven scoreless innings, giving up six hits and two walks while striking out four versus the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was very effective Tuesday, allowing only one baserunner to reach third in the outing. After two consecutive clunkers where he combined to surrender 11 runs in 10 innings, the right-hander registered his third quality start of the year while also picking up victory number three. Berrios was still unable to strike out many batters and is now at a 6.15 K/9 on the year, which represents a career-low. His season-long stats stand at a 4.83 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 28 punchouts over 41 innings in eight starts.
May 12, 2022
Surrenders five runs in loss
Berrios (2-2) was charged with the loss Wednesday against the Yankees after giving up five runs on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk across 5.1 innings.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander allowed only one single across the first three frames, but Gleyber Torres struck with a three-run homer during the fourth inning. Berrios was lifted during the sixth with one out and two runners in scoring position, and Torres again delivered with a two-run single. It's the second consecutive loss for Berrios, and he's given up 11 runs between the two outings. He'll attempt to right the ship his next time through the rotation, which currently lines up for early next week versus Seattle.
May 5, 2022
Roughed up in Cleveland
Berrios (2-1) allowed six earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out none across 4.2 innings to take the loss Thursday against Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Berrios began his outing with two scoreless innings but surrendered at least one earned run in each of his final three frames. He allowed a two-run home run to Steven Kwan in the third inning and has now allowed at least one long ball in four of his six starts. After a bumpy start to the campaign, Berrios had allowed only four earned runs across his last 18.2 frames. However, Thursday's poor outing jumped his ERA to 5.34 on the season, and he has only a 20:10 K:BB across 28.2 innings.
Apr 30, 2022
Snags second win
Berrios gave up one earned run over 5.2 innings and picked up the win in Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Astros. He allowed seven hits and posted a 5:2 K:BB in the contest.
ANALYSIS
The Blue Jays did not give Berrios many runs to work with, and he allowed nine runners to reach base against him. However, when it was all said and done he wound up with his second win of the season. His next start is scheduled for later next week against the Guardians.
Apr 26, 2022
Fades late in no-decision
Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 6-2 win over the Red Sox, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over seven-plus innings. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
The former Twin delivered his second straight quality start on 89 pitches (60 strikes), but Berrios nearly came away with his second win of the year as well -- he blanked Boston for seven innings before giving up back-to-back singles to begin the eighth, then had to watch Adam Cimber let both inherited runners come around to score, tying the game at 2-2. Berrios' ratios haven't quite dug their way out of the hole he created Opening Day, but over his last three outings he has a 3.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB through 18 innings.
Apr 21, 2022
Nabs first win in quality start
Berrios (1-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 6-1 victory over the Red Sox, giving up one run on eight hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
Boston got to him for a run in the first inning, but Berrios settled in after that and cruised to the win after Toronto erupted for five runs in the second frame. The right-hander tossed 68 of 96 pitches for strikes in his first quality start of the season, and while his ratios remain shaky due to his brutal outing Opening Day, he has a 3.27 ERA and 11:4 K:BB through 11 innings over his last two starts.
Apr 14, 2022
Tosses five strong innings
Berrios allowed three runs on six hits and three walks in five innings during Wednesday's win over the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Berrios certainly looked better than his tumultuous first start, in which he threw just 18 of 34 pitches for strikes and recorded only one out. The 27-year-old will look to build off his solid outing next Wednesday, when he's tentatively scheduled to start against the Red Sox in Boston.
Apr 9, 2022
Chased early in opener
Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 10-8 win over the Rangers after coughing up four runs on three hits and two walks in only one-third of an inning.
ANALYSIS
To say that Berrios didn't have his best stuff would be an understatement. The right-hander threw only 18 of 34 pitches for strikes before getting the hook, and the tone was set right away when Brad Miller socked a leadoff homer off him. Fortunately for Berrios, no lead is safe against the Toronto offense. Things don't get any easier for the 27-year-old in his next outing, a road start Wednesday in Yankee Stadium.
Mar 31, 2022
Named Opening Day starter
Berrios has been named the Blue Jays' Opening Day starter, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Berrios made 32 starts between Minnesota and Toronto last year and posted a career-best 3.52 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 204:45 K:BB in 192 innings. He'll be rewarded with the chance to lead the Blue Jays' rotation during the season opener against the Rangers on April 8.
Mar 24, 2022
Hit hard Wednesday
Berrios gave up six runs on seven hits and a walk over 1.2 innings in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. He struck out two.
ANALYSIS
Facing what looked to be most of Philadelphia's Opening Day lineup, Berrios got hit hard, with a third-inning homer by J.T. Realmuto being the big blow. The results are less important than the fact Berrios got his work in, but fantasy investors would probably like to see a couple better outings before spring training wraps up. The right-hander is coming off a season in which he posted a career-best 3.52 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 26.1 percent strikeout rate over 32 starts and 192 innings between the Twins and Blue Jays, and Berrios is expected to be one of the rotation anchors for a Toronto team with title aspirations.
Nov 16, 2021
Signs seven-year extension
Berrios agreed to a seven-year, $131 million extension with the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
The Blue Jays only had a year and a half of team control over Berrios when they acquired him at the deadline from the Twins last season, but both sides evidently liked what they saw enough to commit to each other for a long time. Berrios may not stick around for the full seven years, as Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports that he'll be able to opt out after five seasons, but the Blue Jays can count on him remaining near the top of their rotation for an extended period. The righty is still just 27 years old and is coming off a season in which he produced a career-low 3.52 ERA, a number which was backed by career bests in strikeout rate (26.1 percent), walk rate (5.8 percent) and groundball rate (42.8 percent).
Sep 30, 2021
Whiffs seven in quality start
Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Yankees, allowing three runs on four hits over six innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander has proven to be exactly what the Jays needed to help solidify their rotation when they picked him up from the Twins. Berrios has reeled off seven straight quality starts, going 4-2 over that stretch and posting a 2.93 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and dazzling 53:5 K:BB in his last 46 innings. He's probably done for the regular season, but if Toronto finds itself playing a tiebreaker to determine the AL wild card(s), Berrios could be in line to get that start.
Sep 25, 2021
Fans 10 in loss
Berrios (12-9) took the loss against Minnesota on Friday, pitching six innings and allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out to 10.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander was touched up for three runs in third inning, but he was otherwise dominant against his former team. Berrios racked up double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this season and induced 17 swings-and-misses while notching his sixth straight quality start. However, Toronto was able to offer only run of support, sending Berrios to his ninth loss of the campaign. He'll carry a solid 3.48 ERA and 197:45 K:BB into his next start, which is lined up to come at home against the Yankees next week.
Sep 19, 2021
Takes down former team
Berrios (12-8) allowed three runs on four hits, a walk and a hit batter with six strikeouts in 6.2 innings, earning the win Sunday versus Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old turned in a quality start in his first start against Minnesota, the team he entered the majors with in 2016. Berrios gave up three doubles and a home run in the contest, but that hard contact ultimately didn't endanger Toronto's five-run lead from the first inning. The right-hander has a 3.45 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 187:43 K:BB across 180 innings overall. He lines up for his return to Target Field in a rematch with the Twins during next weekend's four-game series.
Sep 17, 2021
Cleared to start Sunday
Manager Charlie Montoyo said Berrios (abdomen) will start with no restrictions Sunday against the Twins, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Berrios has felt good the past few days after dealing with left abdominal tightness during Tuesday's outing, so he'll remain on a five-day schedule and take the mound Sunday. The right-hander has a 1.98 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 30:2 K:BB in 27.1 innings across his past four starts, and he'll attempt to continue that strong form versus last-place Minnesota.
Sep 15, 2021
Feeling better Wednesday
Manager Charlie Montoyo said Wednesday that he's hopeful that Berrios (abdomen) will be able to make his next start, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was removed from Tuesday's start against the Rays due to left abdominal tightness, but he's feeling much better Wednesday. The right-hander hasn't required additional imaging and is slated to play catch ahead of Wednesday's series finale against Tampa Bay. If he continues to progress well, Berrios tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against the Rays on Monday.
Sep 14, 2021
Picks up injury in tough loss
Berrios (11-8) was removed from Tuesday's start against the Rays with left abdominal tightness, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports. He was charged with the loss after allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts and zero walks across seven innings.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was pulled after 87 pitches and likely would have started at least one more frame if not for the injury. The specifics of the issue remain unclear, but his outlook should receive more clarity over the next couple days as he continues to be evaluated.
Sep 14, 2021
Tosses seven strong
Berrios (11-8) picked up a tough-luck loss after pitching seven innings of one-run ball against the Rays on Tuesday. He gave up four hits while striking out four.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old surrendered a solo home run to Ji-Man Choi in the second inning, which amounted to all the damage against him in the contest. It was his fourth consecutive quality start, posting a 1.98 ERA and 0.77 WHIP over 27.1 innings. Berrios will look to extend his streak to five in his next projected start Monday against the Rays.
Sep 9, 2021
Picks up third straight win
Berrios (11-7) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings to earn the win over the Yankees on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander's lone mistake was a two-run Anthony Rizzo home run in the sixth inning, but Bo Bichette put Toronto ahead again with an RBI single in the seventh. Berrios has a 26:2 K:BB with six runs allowed (five earned) across 20.1 innings in his last three starts, all of which were wins. For the year, he has a 3.52 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 177:42 K:BB through 166.1 innings between Minnesota and Toronto. The 27-year-old projects for a home start versus Tampa Bay next week.
Sep 4, 2021
Earns 10th win
Berrios (10-7) allowed three runs on four hits and struck out seven in 6.2 innings to earn the win Saturday over Oakland.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander turned in his second straight quality start with a strong showing Saturday, although Toronto's bullpen nearly let a seven-run lead slip away in the ninth inning. Berrios is beginning to look more like himself again after an inconsistent August. He has a 3.55 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 169:40 K:BB through 159.2 innings. He's also gone 16.2 innings without walking a batter. The 27-year-old lines up for a tough road start against the Yankees next week.
Aug 29, 2021
Fans 11 in win
Berrios (9-7) allowed an unearned run on six hits and struck out 11 in seven innings to earn the win Sunday versus Detroit.
ANALYSIS
After allowing 13 runs (12 earned) across his last three starts, this was an encouraging bounce-back effort for Berrios, opponent not withstanding. The right-hander gave up his lone run in the sixth inning after an error. He's gone 2-2 in six starts with Toronto since he was acquired from Minnesota at the trade deadline. Berrios has a 3.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 162:40 K:BB across 153 innings overall. He lines up for a home start versus Oakland next weekend.
Aug 25, 2021
Lasts only three innings Tuesday
Berrios dropped to 8-7 after giving up four runs on nine hits while striking out six over three innings Tuesday in the Blue Jays' 5-2 loss to the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Though Berrios ended his night on a high note by striking out the final three batters he faced, he couldn't dig himself out of an early hole. After allowing back-to-back base hits to Luis Robert and Yoan Moncada to begin the game, Berrios served up a three-run home run to Jose Abreu. He would go on to allow another run in the top of the first before righting the ship thereafter, but because Berrios was already up to 68 pitches after three innings, manager Charlie Montoyo elected to pull the plug on the right-hander. Berrios has now submitted a 4.81 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in five starts with the Blue Jays since joining the team ahead of the July 30 trade deadline.
Aug 19, 2021
Settles for no-decision Wednesday
Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-5 loss to the Nationals, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander served up a three-run shot to Juan Soto in the first inning, but he settled down after that and gave the Jays a chance to rally -- which they did in the top of the seventh inning, getting Berrios off the hook for the loss, but Brad Hand promptly gave the game away in the bottom of the frame. Through four starts for Toronto since coming over from Minnesota at the trade deadline, Berrios has a 3.80 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB through 21.1 innings.
Aug 13, 2021
Struggles early in loss to Angels
Berrios (8-6) gave up six runs on eight hits and four walks over 4.1 innings in a loss to the Angels on Thursday. He had three strikeouts.
ANALYSIS
Berrios both struggled with his control and allowed a fair amount of hard contact on the way to his first loss as a Blue Jay. He was able to pitch out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the first inning, but he couldn't avoid trouble again in the second when the Angels struck for four runs. Berrios was ultimately chased from the game with one out in the fifth, matching his shortest start of the season, which happened way back on April 14. Berrios is tentatively slated to make his next start on the road against the Nationals.
Aug 7, 2021
Strikes out six in quality start
Berrios allowed one run on five hits and struck out six over six innings en route to a no-decision in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Berrios recorded his third consecutive quality start Saturday night, as he was his usual stellar self through six innings. The only stain on his outing came via a game-tying solo home run off the bat of Alex Verdugo in the sixth. Berrios didn't issue a walk to the Red Sox all night, as the Puerto Rican right-hander has now given just two free passes in his last four starts. Berrios has also been stingy with regards to earned runs, having allowed just one in his last three outings. He'll likely toe the rubber again Friday against the Mariners.
Aug 2, 2021
Stellar in Blue Jays debut
Berrios (8-5) earned the win Sunday against the Royals after tossing six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and a walk while fanning seven.
ANALYSIS
Berrios was absolutely stellar in his Toronto debut, as he tossed 64 of his 95 pitches for strikes and only allowed one runner to reach scoring position through the first five innings. He escaped from a bases-loaded jam in the sixth before departing the contest, and he ended posting a strong outing across the board. Berrios now has two straight scoreless outings after posting a 4.68 ERA between July 1 and July 19.
Jul 31, 2021
Making Blue Jays debut Sunday
Berrios cleared intake protocols and will make his Blue Jays debut Sunday versus the Royals, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander lined up to pitch Friday for the Twins before being traded to the Blue Jays, and he'll debut for his new team just two days later. Berrios posted a 3.48 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 126:32 K:BB over 121.2 innings (20 starts) for Minnesota this season, and he'll attempt to continue that form with Toronto.
Jul 30, 2021
Traded to Toronto
Berrios was traded from the Twins to the Blue Jays in exchange for an undisclosed return Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Blue Jays get the best remaining available starter to help them down the stretch in the very competitive AL East. He'll also be under contract through the end of next season. Berrios has been a step below the league's best pitchers throughout his career, but he's still a very useful arm, posting a 3.76 ERA over the last five years and a 3.48 mark this season. He's not an elite strikeout weapon, but his 25.7 percent strikeout rate this season represents a career high. The trade should help the righty somewhat in terms of wins, as he'll be supported by a loaded Blue Jays lineup, though he'll go from pitching in one of the league's weakest divisions to one of its strongest.

Pitches well in loss
Berrios (7-5) allowed two unearned runs on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts over seven innings, but took the loss in a 2-1 defeat to the Angels on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Berrios deserved a better fate against the Halos, but with Patrick Sandoval coming within two outs of a no-hitter on the other side, the Puerto Rican didn't get the run support to complement his stellar outing. After allowing three hits in the first two innings, Berrios would retire 15 straight Angels before beaning Max Stassi in the seventh. While four strikeouts is definitely on the low end, the fact that both of the runs Berrios allowed came unearned should soften the blow. Moving forward, keep an eye out for the 27-year-old's name in trade talks, as the Twins should be in sell mode and Berrios is arguably their greatest asset.

Crumbles late in loss
Berrios (7-4) allowed five runs on four hits and a walk over six innings during a loss to the White Sox in Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader. He struck out eight and was handed the loss.
ANALYSIS
Berrios had allowed two runs through six innings on a pair of solo homers by Jose Abreu and Yoan Moncada. He then coughed up a three-run, walkoff shot to Gavin Sheets without recording an out in the seventh. After winning five consecutive decisions from May 2 through June 12, the 27-year-old righty is 0-2 over his last six outings with a 4.10 ERA and 41:12 K:BB during that span. Berrios will carry a 3.69 ERA into this weekend's projected start at home against the Angels.

Coughs up four runs
Berrios allowed four runs on three hits and four walks over seven innings in Sunday's win over the Tigers. He struck out eight and did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
It was mostly a strong outing for Berrios aside from a brutal four-run fifth inning that included a pair of two-run singles by Akil Baddoo and Jonathan Schoop. It was his first start allowing more than three earned runs since June 5 and his season ERA rose slightly to 3.48. The 27-year-old righty owns a 114:31 K:BB through 108.2 innings entering the All-Star break.

Fans 10 in tough loss
Berrios (7-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks over seven innings as the Twins were downed 4-1 by the White Sox. He struck out 10.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander only had one bad inning, as two walks, a Miguel Sano error and a single led to two Chicago runs, but even that was too much for the Minnesota offense to overcome. It was only the second time this season Berrios fanned double-digit batters but the quality start was his seventh, and he sports a 3.36 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 106:27 K:BB as he lines up to face the Tigers at home just before the All-Star break.

Surrenders 10 hits
Berrios allowed four runs (three earned) on 10 hits and one walk while striking out none across five innings Thursday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Berrios clearly lacked his best stuff as he surrendered a season-high 10 hits and generated only five swinging strikes on 89 pitches. Even so, he battled to keep the Twins in the game and came away with a no decision rather than a loss. Prior to this outing, he had recorded three consecutive quality starts, which provides hope that his next outing will bring better results. On the campaign, Berrios now has a 3.52 ERA with 96 strikeouts across 94.2 innings.
