Out of Sunday's lineup
Arozarena is not in Sunday's lineup against the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
The Rays will give Arozarena a couple days to rest up in advance of the postseason. Raimel Tapia is starting in left field and batting eighth.
Sep 27, 2023
Back in lineup Wednesday
Arozarena (quadriceps) is back in the lineup Wednesday at Boston.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena will start in left field and bat third versus the Red Sox and right-hander Brayan Bello after missing three straight games because of right quad tightness. The 28-year-old has tallied 23 homers, 83 RBI, 22 steals and 92 runs scored across 148 games this season for Tampa Bay.
Sep 26, 2023
Still out Tuesday
Arozarena (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite the Rays having a team day off Monday, the 28-year-old will sit Tuesday for the third straight game with right quadriceps tightness. Tampa Bay has another off day on the schedule Thursday, and the club could exercise extra caution and hold Arozarena out until Friday's series opener in Toronto.
Sep 24, 2023
Held out of Sunday's lineup
Arozarena (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena will sit for the second straight game after he exited Friday's contest with right quadriceps tightness. The Rays have a team day off Monday, so the outfielder will have three full days of rest ahead of Tuesday's series opener in Boston. Harold Ramirez will receive another start in left field for Tampa Bay.
Sep 23, 2023
Not starting Saturday
Arozarena (quad) isn't in the Rays' lineup Saturday against the Blue Jays, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After leaving Friday's game early due to right quad tightness, Arozarena will be held out of Saturday's contest as he continues to recover. While Arozarena rests, Harold Ramirez will start in left field and bat second.
Sep 22, 2023
Exits with quad tightness
Arozarena was lifted from Friday's game against the Blue Jays with right quad tightness, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena let up a bit while rounding third base in the bottom of the first inning, though he managed to gut it out until being replaced by Manuel Margot before the top of the fifth. Arozarena finished the night 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Consider him day-to-day leading into the remainder of the Rays' three-game weekend series versus Toronto.
Sep 20, 2023
Big fly Tuesday
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Angels.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old outfielder capitalized on a center-cut meatball from Patrick Sandoval, launching a two-run blast to give Tampa Bay an early lead in the first inning. After a tepid start to September, Arozarena has now hit safely in seven of the last eight games, going 11-for-34 (.324) during that stretch with two home runs, five RBI and four runs. However, his 30.6 percent strikeout rate and 5.6 percent walk rate in that same span suggest he isn't quite locked in at the plate.
Sep 13, 2023
Hits first homer this month
Arozarena went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena came up huge for the Rays on Wednesday, launching a 448-foot home run with two outs in the top of the ninth to give the team a 5-4 lead. It was the outfielder's 22nd long ball of the season but his first since Aug. 29. Arozarena's batting just .217 in September with three RBI and four runs scored, though he's now hit safely in three straight.
Sep 10, 2023
Not in lineup Sunday
Arozarena is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
This is presumably just a routine breather for Arozarena, who went 1-for-8 with a double, four walks and a run scored over the first three games of the four-game set. Luke Raley, Jose Siri and Josh Lowe will start across the outfield for the Rays in Sunday's series finale.
Aug 31, 2023
Makes history Wednesday
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in Wednesday's 3-0 extra-inning win over the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena enjoyed a big 10th inning, knocking in a pair of runs with a one-out single and subsequently stealing both second and third base. The star outfielder has swiped five bags over his past three games to reach 20 thefts on the campaign. He's already at 21 homers, so he's now logged three consecutive 20/20 seasons, becoming the first player in major-league history to accomplish that across his first three full campaigns in the big leagues.
Aug 30, 2023
Goes deep in win
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored while drawing two walks in Tuesday's victory over the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena's seventh-inning, two-run homer extended the Tampa Bay lead to 7-2 Tuesday. The All-Star outfielder has now hit safely in seven of his last eight games, going 10-for-29 with a 1.163 OPS, three home runs, six RBI, three steals and an incredible 13 runs scored during that stretch.
Aug 28, 2023
Swipes three bags Sunday
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena posted his first three-steal game and second multi-steal game this season to bring him up to 18 thefts on the year. Arozarena was struggling badly post All-Star break through the rest of July, but Sunday was a continuation of a strong month at the plate for the 28-year-old. In 23 games, he's slashing .276/.390/.425 with three homers, 10 RBI, 22 runs, six steals and a 14:24 BB:K and has hit safely in six of his last seven games while scoring 11 times over that span.
Aug 24, 2023
Socks homer No. 20
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old outfielder opened the scoring in the third inning by lofting an Austin Gomber changeup over the wall in left field. Arozarena was in a deep slump coming out of the All-Star break, but he could be flipping the switch as the playoff race heats up. Over his last 15 games, he's slashing .317/.423/.467, and five of his nine RBI over that stretch have come in the last three contests. Wednesday's long ball also gave him exactly 20 for the third straight season, and the Rays have 34 games left on the schedule for him to establish a new career high.
Aug 20, 2023
Tallies three hits in Game 2
Arozarena went 3-for-6 with a home run, three total runs and two total RBI in an 18-4 rout of the Angels in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena went a quiet 0-for-4 in the matinee, though he added a walk and scored a run. He made much more noise in Game 2, smashing a 427-foot solo shot in the seventh inning as one of his three hits. Arozarena hadn't homered since Aug. 1 -- a span of 15 games -- coming into the contest, though he had reached base via hit or walk in all but two games during that stretch.
Aug 11, 2023
Swipes two bags in loss
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases Thursday in a loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena stole second and third base after singling in the first frame, but the Rays couldn't cash him in. That was the only time Tampa Bay got a runner to third base over Matthew Liberatore's sterling eight-inning outing. Arozarena is up to 14 thefts on the campaign, but he's been thrown out seven times, tied for sixth-most in the league.
Aug 2, 2023
Snaps hitless streak
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena entered Tuesday hitless across his last 20 at-bats and six games. He snapped that stretch with a home run off Carlos Rodon in the third inning -- his 18th of the season. Arozarena has only eight knocks across 58 at-bats since the All-Star break, though he's striking out at just a 21.2 percent clip in that span.
Jul 30, 2023
Heads to bench Sunday
Arozarena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Houston, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena started the past nine games and will take a day to reset after he went 2-for-29 during that span. Luke Raley will move to left field for Sunday's contest while Harold Ramirez serves as the designated hitter.
Jul 27, 2023
Cold out of break
Arozarena went 0-for-4 with one strikeout Wednesday against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has now gone hitless in nine of 12 games since the All-Star break, going 7-for-46 with one homer, three runs scored and four RBI in that span. He has struck out at a 24.5 percent clip -- in line with his season norms -- so poor batted ball luck could be the explanation for the slow stretch. Though Arozarena's stolen base pace has surprisingly slowed this season, he's almost certain to post new career-best marks in home runs and runs scored.
Jul 19, 2023
On bench for series finale
Arozarena is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena and co-star Wander Franco will both ride the bench for the series finale as both players sit out for what appears to be maintenance purposes in the day game after a night game. After making his first appearance in the Midsummer Classic last Tuesday, Arozarena proceeded to start in each of the Rays' first five games out of the All-Star break, going 5-for-20 with a home run, a triple and a double during that stretch.
Jul 19, 2023
Clubs 17th homer
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena launched his 17th homer of the season during the eighth inning, which ended a stretch of 41 at-bats without a long ball. The 28-year-old hit 20 homers each of the past two seasons and should soon pass that mark in 2023, while his career high of 89 RBI is also likely to fall since he's now driven in 61 runs through 93 games this year.
Jul 1, 2023
Clobbers 15th homer
Arozarena went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena is already approaching his career-high of 20 homers in a season. The outfielder's 57 RBI also rank sixth in the league, and his .401 OBP would be a career-high if the season ended today. Start him with confidence.
Jun 29, 2023
Getting breather Thursday
Arozarena is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Arizona, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a rare day off for Arozarena, who had been in the lineup for each of the Rays' last 21 tilts. Luke Raley will patrol left field while Arozarena gets a breather.
Jun 23, 2023
Knocks in three runs Thursday
Arozarena went 3-for-5 with three RBI in a loss to Kansas City on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Each of Arozarena's hits was a single, but they were productive knocks as they plated a combined three runs. It was the third three-hit performance in four games for the outfielder, who has gone 9-for-14 with five RBI over that span. Arozarena's hot stretch has pushed his season slash line to .298/.412/.500 on the season.
Jun 21, 2023
Regaining power
Arozarena went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and a solo home run Wednesday against the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena took Tyler Wells deep in the second inning to tally his 14th homer of the season. He has experienced a power outage of late, as across his last 30 games prior to Wednesday's contest he had slugged just .333 with six extra-base hits. Even with that slow stretch, Arozarena has shown significant growth this season by dropping his strikeout rate to 23.6 percent while drawing free passes at a 13.3 percent clip across 313 plate appearances.
Jun 18, 2023
Three hits, two runs in loss
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a hit-by-pitch and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Padres.
ANALYSIS
All three of his hits were singles. Arozarena has maintained a .288 batting average for the season, but this was just his third multi-hit effort in June, putting him at 14-for-55 (.255) for the month. He's also gone nine games and counting without a stolen base. The outfielder is at nine steals, 13 home runs, 48 RBI, 45 runs scored, eight doubles and a triple with an .889 OPS through 71 contests this season.
Jun 17, 2023
Drives in four runs
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's victory over San Diego. He was also caught stealing.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena's 13th long ball of the year was a three-run blast in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. It was his first homer since his walk-off blast June 7, snapping an eight-game homerless drought. The star outfielder owns a robust .285/.403/.488 slash line with 48 RBI and 22 extra-base hits through 295 plate appearances. However, Arozarena has now been caught stealing seven times in 16 attempts.
Jun 8, 2023
Walk-off homer
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena took Johan Duran deep in the ninth inning to deliver a walk-off victory. It was his 12th homer of the season, but his first since May 22. In the 12 games between long balls, he hit only .195 with three runs scored and five RBI. Even with that slow stretch, he has an impressive .394 on-base percentage for the season -- his highest mark in any significant sample in the majors.
Jun 5, 2023
Getting day off
Arozarena is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts Sunday versus the Red Sox and is just 4-for-29 at the plate over his last eight games, so it's probably not a bad time to give him a breather. Luke Raley will handle left field.
Jun 4, 2023
Swipes seventh base
Arozarena went 2-for-9 with a stolen base and a walk across both games of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena collected a hit in each game, though there was little notable about the performance besides him collecting his seventh stolen base of the season. After a hot start to the season, he has slowed down across his last 18 starts by hitting just .207 with one home run, six RBI and eight runs scored. The positive to take from Arozarena's performance in that span is that he's swiped four bags without getting caught.
May 28, 2023
Resting Sunday
Arozarena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
With the series finale with the Dodgers beginning at 11:35 a.m. ET, Arozarena will be getting a breather after he had started in every game for Tampa Bay since May 11. Luke Raley will get the starting nod in left field in place of Arozarena, who went hitless across six at-bats in the first two games of the series.
May 25, 2023
Drives in two in win
Arozarena went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a run scored and a steal in Thursday's 6-3 win over Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Arozarana opened the scoring Thursday with a first-inning RBI single before extending the Rays' lead to 6-1 with his second base hit in the seventh. Arozarena had cooled off a bit coming into the contest, going 6-for-31 in his previous 10 games. The 28-year-old outfielder is still slashing an outstanding .311/.415/.959 with 11 homers, 39 RBI and six steals through 217 plate appearances this season.
May 23, 2023
Tallies 11th homer
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored Monday against the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena led off the second inning with a double and came around to score the Rays' first run of the game. Four frames later, he popped his 11th home run of the season and fourth across 19 games in May. Despite going hitless in eight of his last 13 starts, Arozarena still has a .308 average across 205 plate appearances for the campaign.
May 22, 2023
Swipes fifth bag
Arozarena went 0-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base Sunday against the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena went hitless for his third consecutive game, though he still managed to provide fantasy value. He was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning and then stole second base -- his fifth of the season and second in his last five starts. Arozarena continues to provide a well-rounded stat line, as he has 10 home runs, 31 runs scored and 36 RBI while also hitting .304 across 201 plate appearances on the season.
May 13, 2023
Clubs 10th homer
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
He got the Rays on the board in the first inning by crushing a Gerrit Cole offering into the second deck in left field at Yankee Stadium. Arozarena has surprisingly been a disappointment on the basepaths so far, stealing three bags on seven attempts and going 20 games and counting without a successful pilfer, but there's little else to complain about with his 2023 performance. The 28-year-old is slashing .317/.400/.577 with 10 homers, 26 runs and 31 RBI through 38 contests.
May 10, 2023
Taking seat Wednesday
Arozarena is absent from the Rays' lineup on Wednesday in Baltimore, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a rare day off for the star outfielder. Luke Raley will handle left field against the Orioles while Arozarena gets some rest.
May 4, 2023
Clubs eighth homer
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena swatted his third home run in four games, taking Jose Hernandez yard for a solo shot in the fourth inning. The left-fielder also attempted to pick up his fourth stolen base but was thrown out by Jason Delay at second in the eighth frame. After swiping 32 bags in 153 games last season, Arozarena has just three in 30 appearances while also being caught stealing three times. Despite his speed struggles in 2023, Arozarena appears to be well on his way to besting his 2021 and 2022 home run totals (20), with eight long balls through five weeks.
May 3, 2023
Day off Wednesday
Arozarena isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena doubled in a 1-for-4 performance Tuesday and boasts a 1.019 OPS over his last 10 games. Luke Raley is filling in as the left fielder Wednesday.
Apr 29, 2023
Cranks two homers
Arozarena went 2-for-5 with two homers and four RBI scored in Saturday's victory over the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena smacked a three-run shot in the Rays' 10-run seventh inning and popped a solo shot in the ninth. The outfielder's slash line is an incredible .333/.400/.590. He already has seven home runs, as he is on pace to surpass his career-high mark of 20.
Apr 25, 2023
Racking up counting stats
Arozarena went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI on Monday against the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena had a busy day at the dish, which began when he tallied an RBI triple in the first inning. He chipped in another knock and now has five multi-hit performances in his last seven games. Overall, Arozarena has had an excellent start to the season and is hitting .353 with five home runs, 24 RBI and 18 runs scored across 98 plate appearances.
Apr 22, 2023
Four RBI in extra-inning win
Arozarena went 3-for-5 with a two run home run and a pair of RBI singles during Saturday's 4-3 win over the White Sox in extras.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first, his fifth long ball of the season. He added a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth and ended the contest with another RBI knock in the bottom of the 10th. After knocking in all of Tampa Bay's runs Saturday, Arozarena has 23 RBI through 20 games (89 plate appearances).
Apr 19, 2023
Three hits in Cincy
Arozarena went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Getting a partial day off as the DH in the afternoon contest, Arozarena reeled off his third straight multi-hit performance and his seventh in his last 14 games. The 28-year-old has been a key cog in the Rays' incredible start to 2023, batting .333 (24-for-72) with four homers, three steals, 14 runs and 18 RBI.
Apr 19, 2023
Tallies fourth homer
Arozarena went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena took Nick Lodolo deep for a solo home run in the fourth inning to tally his fourth long ball of the season. He also singled to lead off the third inning, and the performance was his sixth multi-hit effort in his first 17 contests. Overall, Arozarena has gotten off to a very productive start, driving in 18, scoring 13 runs and swiping two bags all while maintaining a .313 average.
Apr 16, 2023
Out of lineup Sunday
Arozarena is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena will take a seat for the first time in the 2023 season. Luke Raley will be the left fielder and hit fifth against Alek Manoah and the Toronto staff.
Apr 13, 2023
Slugs third homer
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI on Wednesday against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena got the Rays off to a quick start by blasting a three-run homer off Chris Sale in the opening inning to tally his third long ball of the season. He's impressed across the first few weeks of the new campaign by collecting at least one hit in 11 of his 12 starts, and he's recorded 15 hits in his first 47 at-bats overall. To go along with the early power production, Arozarena also has chipped in 15 RBI, 10 runs scored and two stolen bases.
Apr 8, 2023
Homers, drives in four in rout
Arozarena went 2-for-5 with a homer along with four RBI in Saturday's victory over the Athletics.
ANALYSIS
The homer was a two-run shot off Athletics catcher Carlos Perez that gave the Rays an 11-0 lead. Still counts. The outfielder also drove in a pair with a two-run single in the fifth, and he's already up to 10 RBI to go with a pair of homers in the first eight games.
Apr 3, 2023
Swats first homer
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena took Joey Wentz yard in the fourth inning to tally his first homer of the season. Though he also hasn't swiped any bases, Arozarena has had a productive start to the season by going 3-for-10 with four runs scored and three RBI. As could be expected, he's been a key member of the Rays' lineup, hitting third against right-handed pitching and fourth against southpaws.
Mar 18, 2023
Continues to impress in WBC
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a run scored to help Team Mexico to a 5-4 victory Saturday over Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Reaching three times is always nice, but the highlight for Arozarena was a spectacular catch late in the contest that would have scored two runs and essentially preserved the win. The Tampa Bay outfielder has been outstanding in the WBC, hitting .471/.625/.941 at the top of the Mexico lineup. The big stage clearly doesn't get to Arozarena, and managers will hope he can carry over this success into the regular season in less than two weeks.
Jan 13, 2023
Reaches deal for 2023
Arozarena agreed to a one-year, $4.15 million contract with the Rays on Friday to avoid arbitration, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
It's finally the first year of arbitration eligibility for Arozarena, who burst onto the scene for Tampa Bay in 2020 with a .377 average and 10 homers during the playoffs. The 27-year-old had a .263/.327/.445 slash line with 20 home runs, 89 RBI and 32 stolen bases in 153 games last season.
Oct 4, 2022
Day off Tuesday
Arozarena will be on the bench Tuesday against Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Sep 24, 2022
Powers Rays' offense
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a home run, six RBI and a run scored Friday against the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena powered the Rays' offense, with the big blow coming on a three-run home run in the fifth inning. He drove in two more on a single in the eighth frame and now has eight RBI across his last two starts. Arozarena has had a strong close to the season, maintaining a .286 average with two homers, 17 RBI and 11 runs scored across 19 games in September.
Sep 23, 2022
Grabs three hits, swipes bag
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, two runs scored and one steal in Thursday's 10-5 victory over Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena drove home Manuel Margot with a double to deep right in the first inning before stealing third and coming around to score himself on a wild pitch from Jose Berrios. The left fielder knocked in Margot again with a single in the second inning and went on to reach base four times in the game. Arozarena has recorded three multi-hit games in his last five contests, with three RBI and three runs scored over that span.
Sep 22, 2022
Swipes 31st bag
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a stolen base Wednesday against the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena reached base on a pair of singles, and he recorded his 31st stolen base of the season in the eighth inning. He's managed only one homer in 17 games in September, though he's still swiped four bags while being caught just once in that span. Through 594 plate appearances on the campaign, Arozarena has already tallied career-high marks in RBI and stolen bases.
Sep 20, 2022
Out of Tuesday's lineup

Sep 19, 2022
Cleared to rejoin lineup
Arozarena (illness) will serve as the Rays' designated hitter and cleanup batter in Monday's game against the Astros, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena missed the Rays' final two games of their series with the Rangers over the weekend, but he'll be ready to go Monday as Tampa Bay kicks off a seven-game week. Before missing time with the ailment, Arozarena was slashing .250/.286/.400 with a home run, six doubles, nine RBI, eight runs and three stolen bases through his first 15 games of September.
Sep 18, 2022
Ill, but available off bench
Arozarena is a little under the weather but is available off the bench Sunday against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
This explains why Arozarena is out of the lineup for a second day in a row. Manager Kevin Cash said he hopes not to use Arozarena in an effort to make sure he's feeling better for Monday's game against the Astros.
Sep 18, 2022
Sitting again Sunday
Arozarena is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rangers, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
He didn't play in Saturday's game either, so perhaps Arozarena is a little banged up. Ji-Man Choi is getting the start at designated hitter while batting eighth.
Sep 17, 2022
Absent from Saturday's lineup
Arozarena isn't starting Saturday against the Rangers, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

He apparently picked up the soreness during Wednesday's game against the A's, and while he played the field Thursday, he asked to be the designated hitter in this one. Off to slow start

ANALYSIS
Arozarena doubled to lead off the second inning and ultimately came around to score on a base hit by Manuel Margot. After a multi-hit effort on Opening Day, Arozarena has just three hits across his last 22 at-bats. That has led to a dismal .192 batting average, but his 23.1 strikeout rate is an improvement from his career norm. If Arozarena continues to make contact, hits should start to fill in and his line will improve significantly in short order.

Sitting Monday
Arozarena will sit Monday against Oakland, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena started all three games in the opening series against the Orioles, grabbing three hits. The Rays will turn to their depth throughout the season to give the regulars plenty of rest, however, and it's Arozarena's turn to sit this time around. Josh Lowe will get the start in left field.

Enjoying productive spring
Arozarena is hitting .417/.462/.500 with two doubles, three RBI and a 2:2 BB:K this spring.
ANALYSIS
As exciting a player as Arozarena is with his power-speed combo and flair for the dramatic, last year's 28.1 percent strikeout rate and .222 xBA have had a lot of analysts forecasting a fall-off this season. But he wasn't a whiff machine in the minors, and with just two strikeouts in 26 spring plate appearances, Arozarena has been demonstrating much-improved bat-to-ball skills. If he can carry that forward into the regular season, he could outperform his draft position by a considerable margin. Although he's 27 years old, Arozarena has only one full MLB season under his belt, so it's hardly unreasonable to think that he has some development left in him.

Arozarena was electric in the playoffs for the Rays last year with a 1.273 OPS and 10 homers, and he's started the 2021 playoffs in similar fashion.

Belts 20th homer
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena's lone hit of the game was a big one, as his ninth-inning solo shot gave the Rays a temporary one-run lead. The long ball made up for an otherwise frustrating contest for Arozarena, as he struck out in each of his other three plate appearances. It also snapped a 17-game homerless streak for the 26-year-old, who has posted 20 homers and 69 RBI along with 16 stolen bases on the campaign.
Sep 24, 2021

Sep 21, 2021
Swipes bag in win
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a double and a steal in Monday's 6-4 win over the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena reached his first time in the fourth on a fielder's choice and ended up taking second for his 15th steal of the year. The 26-year-old would double his next time up but otherwise was quiet at the plate. Last year's playoff sensation has cooled of some in September, as he has just six extra-base hits and is slashing .228/.309/.386 in 16 games. In his first full season in the majors, Arozarena is slashing .269/.347/.453 with 19 homers, 65 RBI, 87 runs scored, and 48:157 BB:K over 562 plate appearances.
Sep 13, 2021
Not starting Monday
Arozarena will be on the bench Monday against Toronto, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS

Sep 13, 2021
Modest production since return
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a run in an extra-innings loss to the Tigers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena also went 0-for-3 with an RBI from a sacrifice fly Saturday in his return from a two-game stay on the paternity list. The 26-year-old had gone a sizzling 8-for-17 with two doubles, a triple and a home run over the four games prior to his brief absence, so fantasy managers will hope Sunday's modest production can reignite his bat.
Sep 11, 2021
Back for Saturday's game
Arozarena was activated from the paternity list prior to Saturday's game against the Tigers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
He returns Saturday, as expected, and Josh Lowe was sent back to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Arozarena is hitting .316 with three home runs and two steals over his last 10 games.
Sep 8, 2021
Eyeing Saturday return
Manager Kevin Cash said he expects Arozarena (personal) to rejoin the team Saturday and potentially return from the paternity list for the Rays' game against the Tigers later that day, radio broadcaster Steve Carney reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena left the team Wednesday to spend time with his wife and newborn child, and based on Cash's comments, the outfielder looks like he'll spend the full three days on the paternity list. Though he won't be in line for more than two starts to close out the week, Arozarena is on track to rejoin the Rays in time to clear all COVID-19 protocols, which should erase any concern about his availability for the series in Canada with the Blue Jays that begins Monday.
Sep 8, 2021
Placed on paternity list
Arozarena will be placed on the paternity list Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old will spend at least three days away from the team following the birth of his child. Josh Lowe was recalled from Triple-A Durham to take his place on the active roster, and he should see most of the playing time in right field while Arozarena is away from the team.
Sep 4, 2021
Falls double shy of cycle
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a homer, a triple, a single and three runs scored in Saturday's 11-4 win over the Twins.
ANALYSIS
The electrifying 26-year-old accomplished the first three legs of the cycle in the first three innings of the game on Saturday but couldn't come through with a double to complete the feat. The outburst of production comes as a sigh of relief to fantasy managers, as Arozarena entered play 0-for-9 in his last three games.
Sep 1, 2021
Homers Tuesday
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a hit by pitch and two runs scored in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena got the Rays on the board in the second inning with a laser off the bat that traveled 406 feet over the wall in left field. It was his second home run in his last three games and his fourth straight contest with at least one RBI. The 26-year-old was the talk of the 2020 MLB Playoffs after breaking out with a .377/.449/.841 slash line, nine homers, three doubles, one triple, 18 runs scored, 12 RBI and eight walks in 18 games. He hasn't exactly carried over that same success in 2021, as he's striking out at a 28.3 percent clip and has also hit the ball on the ground quite a bit. Arozarena is still having a respectable campaign, slashing .274/.352/.461 with 18 homers, 59 RBI, 78 runs scored, 12 steals and a .813 OPS over 494 plate appearances.
Aug 30, 2021

Aug 30, 2021
Remains productive Sunday
Arozarena went 2-for-5 with an RBI single, a stolen base and two runs in a win over the Orioles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena opened the scoring on a prolific day for offense by driving in Brandon Lowe with a first-inning single, the slugger's fourth RBI over the last three games. Arozarena is in the midst of an interesting 12-game stretch where he's managed to forge a .293 average and .370 on-base percentage despite striking out at a massive 39.1 percent clip during the sample, but he carries a rock-solid .274/.351/.455 slash line for the campaign.
Aug 28, 2021
Blasts go-ahead homer
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old lined a Cole Sulser offering the other way in the eighth inning, clearing the right-field scoreboard to give the Rays a 4-3 lead. Arozarena hadn't gone deep since Aug. 3, a stretch of 14 games without a homer, but he's still managed to slash .361/.443/.623 for the month.
Aug 27, 2021
Out of Friday's lineup
Arozarena is not in the lineup Friday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Aug 20, 2021
Not starting Friday
Arozarena is not starting Friday against the White Sox, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS

Aug 18, 2021
Looking to build on four-hit game
Arozarena will start in right field and bat fifth Wednesday against the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
After putting his eight-game hit streak on hold to rest in Monday's series opener with Baltimore, Arozarena returned to the lineup for Tuesday's 10-0 win and proceeded to resume raking. He finished the day 4-for-5 with a double and two runs, lifting his season-long batting average to .280.
Aug 16, 2021
Not in Monday's lineup
Arozarena is out of the lineup Monday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena was mistakenly included in Monday's initial starting nine, but he'll instead receive a day off after starting the past three games. The 26-year-old isn't dealing with any sort of injury and will likely be back in the lineup Tuesday. Manuel Margot and Brett Phillips will start in the corner outfield spots for Tampa Bay.
Aug 16, 2021
Stays hot in Sunday's loss
Arozarena went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has opened August with an eight-game hitting streak, batting .467 with seven extra-base knocks to begin the month. Among all rookie-eligible players with at least 200 plate appearances this season, Arozarena's 127 wRC+ trails only Jonathan India (132), Patrick Wisdom (129) and LaMonte Wade (129).
Aug 12, 2021
Not in Thursday's lineup
Arozarena isn't starting Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena started in each of the two games since he returned from the COVID-19 IL, and he went 3-for-8 with two doubles, a run, a walk and four strikeouts. Brett Phillips will start in right field and bat seventh.
Aug 11, 2021
On base thrice in return
Arozarena (undisclosed) went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run in a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Activated from the COVID-19 injured list earlier in the day, Arozarena was reinserted back into the leadoff spot and helped set the table with a productive night. The three-game absence did nothing to cool off Arozarena, who's wielding one of the hottest bats in baseball with a .419/.479/.767 slash line across the 48 plate appearances covering his last 11 games.
Aug 10, 2021
Activated from COVID-19 IL
Arozarena was activated from the COVID-19 injured list prior to Tuesday's game against Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has been on the COVID-19 list since Friday due to being a close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus. Given that he's able to return after missing just three games, it appears that he didn't test positive himself. Left-hander Ryan Yarbrough (undisclosed), who was scheduled to start Wednesday, was moved to the COVID-19 IL in a corresponding roster move.
Aug 8, 2021
Could be back Tuesday
Rays manager Kevin Cash indicated that Arozarena could be ready to return from the COVID-19 injured list as soon as Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena was placed on the IL on Friday, but because he was identified as a close contact of an infected person and didn't test positive for the coronavirus himself, he could be cleared to return earlier than most players who typically enter MLB's health and safety protocols. The outfielder previously tested positive for the virus in July 2020, but he isn't considered at risk of being infected again and hasn't shown any symptoms of the virus since being deactivated.

Out due to close contact
Arozarena hit the COVID-19 injured list Friday after being deemed a close contact of someone who tested positive for the virus, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has been on a tear, hitting .404 with six homers over his last 14 games. He at least hasn't tested positive for the virus himself thus far, so he may not be in line for a long absence, but he'll be sidelined for at least a few days. Jordan Luplow was recalled in a corresponding move and could spend some time in the outfield in his absence, though the Rays have a very flexible roster and could cover for him in a number of ways.
Aug 4, 2021
Tallies a pair of extra-base hits
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBI in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has been absolutely raking in his last 14 games, hitting .404 with five doubles, six home runs and 11 RBI since July 19. After Wednesday's performance, he boasts a .268/.344/.458 slash line with 16 home runs and 20 doubles this season. The 2020 postseason standout must smell October, as he's playing a pivotal role in the playoff-bound Rays' offense after an unspectacular first half of the season.
Aug 4, 2021
Goes yard again
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
He led off the bottom of the first inning with his 16th homer of the year, but the Tampa offense couldn't get much going after that. Arozarena remains red hot, going yard for the third time in the last four games while delivering a multi-hit performance for the ninth time in his last 13, and that blistering stretch has boosted his slash line on the season to .266/.343/.449.
Aug 3, 2021
Blasts 15th homer
Arozarena went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's 8-2 loss to the Mariners.

Arozarena continues to pile up homers and multi-hit performances, and over his last 12 games he's slashing .367/.415/.755 with five of his 15 long balls on the season.
Aug 1, 2021

Jul 28, 2021
Timely two-bagger in win
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with an RBI ground-rule double in a loss to the Yankees on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old brought the Rays to within a run with his eighth-inning two-bagger, locking in his fifth multi-hit effort in the last seven contests. Arozarena has been putting especially good wood on the ball during that span as well, considering Tuesday's double was his sixth extra-base hit (out of 12 hits overall) during that sample.
Jul 24, 2021
Not starting Saturday
Arozarena is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against Cleveland, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
A 2-for-5, two-run performance Friday raised Arozarena's average to .290 in eight games since the All-Star break. He has three home runs, five RBI and seven runs scored during that span. Brett Phillips will play right field and bat ninth Saturday.
Jul 21, 2021
Goes deep twice in win
Arozarena went 3-for-5 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old sent a middle-middle curveball for a ride in the first inning, then did the same to a similarly-located, 86 MPH fastball in the fifth. Arozarena snapped out of a 21-game stretch without a home run when he went deep Tuesday, and he has now hit three in his last eight at-bats. His 13 home runs have come in bunches this season, so he'll look to maintain this latest burst of power when the Rays head to Cleveland for a weekend series. In 13 games since the start of July, Arozarena is hitting .222 with six extra-base hits and five RBI.
Jul 21, 2021
Clubs 11th homer
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
He took John Means deep in the third inning, Arozarena's first homer since June 17 and his 11th of the year. The 26-year-old slashed a woeful .167/.274/.222 over the course of his 21-game power drought, but with back-to-back multi-hit performances that include two doubles in addition to Tuesday's long ball, he may be shaking off his slump.
Jul 20, 2021
Plates team's only run
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Orioles on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena's sixth-inning two-bagger brought home Austin Meadows with what would be the Rays' only run of the night. The Cuban slugger's double snapped an 0-for-9 slide that had encompassed his first three games of the second half, and he's now gone over a calendar month without a home run after last having left the yard June 17.

Not starting Friday
Arozarena is not in the starting lineup Friday against Atlanta, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Raps out three hits Tuesday
Arozarena went 3-for-5 in a loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena snapped a rare three-game, 0-for-11 skid with Tuesday's multi-hit effort, his fourth of the month. The 26-year-old boosted his season line back to .266/.342/.428, which, while still a far cry in many respects from his 2020 figures, is certainly keeping his fantasy managers pleased.
Jun 18, 2021
Raking like it's 2020
Arozarena, who went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a stolen base and a run in a loss to the Mariners on Thursday, now owns a 12-game hitting streak heading into Friday night's action.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena is slashing .340/.353/.620 with three doubles, one triple, three home runs and 10 RBI across that span, numbers that reminiscent of his memorable postseason tear in 2020. The surge has pushed Arozarena's season slash line to .271/.346/.443, numbers constituted by 12 doubles, one triple, 10 homers, 11 stolen bases, 25 walks and 46 runs, all career-high figures.

ANALYSIS

Jun 4, 2021
Gets ninth steal
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run in a win over the Yankees on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old reached safely for the fifth time in the last six games, a stretch during which he's exclusively accumulated singles. Arozarena's third swipe over that span, which came after his seventh-inning infield single, did add a nice fantasy supplement to his afternoon. However, last year's October sensation continues to underwhelm for those who invested hefty draft capital in him, as he's slashing a so-so .254/.343/.397 with a relatively modest 16 extra-base hits (nine doubles, seven home runs) across 239 plate appearances.
Jun 1, 2021
Productive day in win

The 26-year-old is working on a modest three-game hitting streak and now has eight stolen bases on the season; however, he hasn't hit a home run over his last 10 games and currently sports a .418 slugging percentage that's a far cry from the elite .641 figure he generated across 76 plate appearances in 2020.

ANALYSIS

Arozarena's production of late hasn't been limited to power however, as he also has three multi-hit performances in his last five starts. Across 181 plate appearances this season, he is hitting .283/.370/.459 across 181 plate appearances.
May 19, 2021
Big game offensively
Arozarena went 3-for-5 with two home runs, four total RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena took John Means deep in the fifth inning with a solo shot, and then he added a two-run blast off Adam Plutko in the seventh. He now has two three-hit performances over his last four games, a span in which he's reached base safely in each contest and at least twice three times. These numbers represent a turnaround for Arozarena, as he endured a slow beginning to the season but is seeing the ball much better now -- the 26-year-old outfielder is hitting .310 over that aforementioned seven-game span.

The outfielder had tallied just seven hits in his last thirteen games before Saturday's strong showing at the plate. The lack of power, highlighted by Arozarena's having recorded three extra-base hits since April 28, is concerning. That being said, Saturday's three-hit game was a step in the right direction for Arozarena.

Starting to make harder contact
Arozarena entered Friday's game against the Yankees with two doubles, a home run, four RBI, a .369 wOBA and a .200 ISO over the 31 plate appearances covering his previous seven games.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena hasn't come close to duplicating his memorable October 2020 tear, but there are signs he is starting to square up on the ball more consistently. The talented outfielder put together his third multi-RBI outing of the season Thursday versus the Yankees, launching a three-run home run. Arozarena had laced 10 of his 34 hits of the season for extra bases heading into Friday, but his .397 slugging percentage still has ample room for improvement.

Not starting Wednesday
Arozarena is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Angels, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports
ANALYSIS
Both Arozarena and Manuel Margot will start on the bench against righty Shohei Ohtani. The outfielder has been slumping of late, with just one hit in his last 16 at-bats, but he will likely return to the lineup Thursday against lefty Andrew Heaney
Apr 30, 2021
Not starting Friday
Arozarena is out of the lineup Friday against the Astros, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena started the past seven games and will receive a day off after going 8-for-26 with one homer, one double, four RBI and four runs during that stretch. Austin Meadows, Kevin Kiermaier and Manuel Margot will start from left to right in the outfield while Yoshi Tsutsugo serves as the designated hitter.
Apr 27, 2021
Three hits in Monday's loss
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 2-1 loss to the A's.
ANALYSIS
He was the only Ray to have much success against Sean Manaea and the Oakland bullpen, as Tampa Bay only managed six hits in total on the night. Arozarena has caught fire after a sluggish start to the year, rapping out 11 hits in 26 at-bats (.423) over the last seven games to push his slash line to .301/.356/.446 with three homers, two steals, 10 RBI and 12 runs through 21 contests.
Apr 24, 2021
Homers in loss
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and one strikeout in Friday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena brought Tampa Bay within one run with his home run in the bottom of the fifth inning Friday, but the Rays were unable to secure the win at home. Arozarena is now slashing .292/.346/.458 with three home runs and 10 RBI this year.
Apr 21, 2021
Sitting Wednesday
Arozarena is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
He is hitting .269 with two home runs and one steal, but his 24:4 K:BB in 67 at-bats is mildly troubling. Brett Phillips gets the start in right field and will bat ninth.
Apr 18, 2021
Sitting out Sunday
Arozarena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena will head to the bench for just the second time this season in what is most likely a maintenance day. Manny Margot will fill in in right field for Arozarena, who has fallen into a 3-for-22 slump at the plate since beginning the season with an eight-game hit streak.
Apr 14, 2021
Stays hot Tuesday
Arozarena went 2-for-3 with two runs in a loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena authored one of three multi-hit efforts for the Rays, pushing his season slash to .317/.378/.488 in the process. The 26-year-old has reached safely in all 10 games thus far, although only three (one double, two home runs) of his 13 hits have gone for extra bases.
Apr 11, 2021
Homers in second straight game
Arozarena went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has hit safely in his eight games this season and has been trending in the right direction of late, going deep in each of his last two contests while plating five RBI over his last five outings. He struck out once and his BB:K now sits at 1:12 to begin the season.
Apr 10, 2021
Clubs first homer
Arozarena went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
His first homer of the season came in his seventh game, as he clobbered a Domingo German pitch 420 feet to center field in the third inning. Arozarena also struck out once, and his 1:11 BB:K to begin the season has been a big factor in his inability to repeat his incredible postseason power numbers from 2020.
Apr 6, 2021
Productive start to season
Arozarena, who went 2-for-3 with a run and a walk in a loss to the Red Sox on Monday, is hitting .364 (4-for-11) over his first three games.
ANALYSIS
Last October's prodigious slugger hasn't exactly surfaced yet -- all four of Arozarena's hits have been singles -- but it's an encouraging start nonetheless. However, it's at least worth noting hard contact has mostly eluded Arozarena thus far in 2021, considering he hit just .237 (9-for-38) across 39 Grapefruit League plate appearances and his only extra-base hits during that sample were a pair of doubles.
Apr 3, 2021
Heads to bench
Arozarena will sit Saturday against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena went 1-for-4 in both of the Rays' first two games. Tampa Bay will continue to heavily rotate players this season, and even potential stars like Arozarena could find themselves on the bench slightly more often than they would for other teams. Austin Meadows will shift to right field Saturday, with Manuel Margot starting in left.
Mar 28, 2021
Singles in return to action
Arozarena (wrist) went 1-for-3 in his return to Grapefruit League action against the Red Sox on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Last fall's postseason breakout star has yet to leave the yard as spring training winds down, but Arozarena has reached safely in seven of his last eight exhibitions. The 26-year-old will have three more Grapefruit League contests to get his timing down before Opening Day against the Marlins on Thursday, which Adam Berry of MLB.com reports Arozarena has declared himself fully ready for despite recent wrist soreness. "I'm definitely feeling better compared to how I have been," Arozarena said before Saturday's game through interpreter Manny Navarro. "I'll be ready for Opening Day, for sure, and I'm just happy to be here with this organization that's been helping me out."
Mar 27, 2021
Returns to lineup
Arozarena (wrist) is in the lineup for Saturday's spring game against the Twins, according to Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena got a few days off to give his sore left wrist time to heal, but he is ready to get back on the field. Arozarena declared himself ready for Opening Day, so barring any setbacks, expect him to be on the field when the regular season gets underway.
Mar 25, 2021
Should return to action Saturday
Rays manager Kevin Cash said he's targeting Saturday's game against the Twins for Arozarena's (hand/forearm) return to the spring lineup, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay is just exercising some caution with Arozarena's usage late in spring training, as the outfielder has been battling what Cash described as minor hand and forearm soreness in recent days. So long as Arozarena is back on the field by the weekend, his availability for the April 1 season opener versus the Marlins won't be in any question.
Mar 24, 2021
Dealing with minor soreness
Rays manager Kevin Cash suggested that Arozarena was held out of the lineup for Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins due to minor soreness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. "He's just got some some hand, forearm, everything tightness, soreness," Cash said of Arozarena. "He likes to hit. So the only way to prevent him from hitting is to tell him that he's not allowed to go in the cage and not play him."
ANALYSIS
Cash intimated that Arozarena is getting a maintenance day, but his status nonetheless remains worthy of tracking heading into Opening Day. After a star-making postseason run for the Rays, Arozarena has yet to carry over that success to the spring. Through 12 games, Arozarena has slashed .250/.273/.313 with no home runs and a stolen base.
Mar 7, 2021
Solid start to spring
Arozarena is 2-for-6 with an RBI across his first four Grapefruit League games.
ANALYSIS
Last year's October hero only has a pair of singles on the board entering Sunday's action, but the long ball is just a matter of time for the prodigious Arozarena. After a somewhat eventful offseason on a personal level, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports the talented 26-year-old arrived in spring camp in excellent shape and with zero signs of last fall's meteoric success affecting his approach. "It's the same guy," manager Kevin Cash said. "It's not like he's come in after a big month in the postseason and said, 'This is my routine, this is how I'm going to go about it.' He's very loose with willing to try everything. Very accommodating. You watch him, he talks to everybody. People enjoy talking to him."
Feb 18, 2021
Lot to live up to in '21
Arozarena will enter spring training with extremely elevated expectations after he followed up a solid 2020 regular season with a record-setting postseason, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena did himself no favors in a sense after monopolizing the postseason spotlight last October, hitting .377 with 10 home runs, 14 RBI and a 1.273 OPS across 20 games. The Cuban slugger did have some tumult this offseason due to a family dispute in Mexico, but he was subsequently cleared of all charges and therefore enters spring training with the incident likely behind him altogether. Arozarena is penciled in as the Rays' starting left fielder heading into the new season, and Topkin notes it will be interesting to see how the 25-year-old handles the substantial expectations the fall tear prompted. One particularly intriguing aspect of Arozarena's game to monitor will be his power stroke , as his combined 17 home runs across 162 plate appearances over the regular season and postseason in 2020 were an atypical feat for a player who'd previously topped out at 12 round trippers (283 plate appearances) back at Triple-A Memphis in 2019 while with the Cardinals organization.
Nov 26, 2020
Charges dismissed
Arozarena was released by authorities after a judge determined there was not enough evidence to pursue charges after a custody dispute involving his young daughter and her mother, Yucatan newspaper PorEsto! reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like this may be the conclusion of the legal aspect of this off-field incident involving Arozarena. He was originally detained after he allegedly attempted to take his daughter away from her mother and assaulted the woman's father. MLB is also investigating the situation and it is unclear what stage that investigation is in.
Nov 24, 2020
Detained for domestic incident
Arozarena was detained in Mexico on Tuesday following a domestic incident, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena allegedly attempted to take his daughter away from her mother and assaulted the woman's father. MLB is investigating the matter and could potential issue him a suspension under the league's domestic violence policy depending on their findings.
Oct 27, 2020
Smacks home run
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Tuesday in a win over the Rays in Game 6 of the World Series.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old continued his incredible postseason as he swatted his 10th postseason home run, an MLB record. Arozarena recorded an incredible 29 hits in 81 at-bats throughout the postseason and managed to also knock in 14 runs.
Oct 25, 2020
Scores deciding run
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, three runs and a walk during Saturday's win in Game 4 of the World Series against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old's solo homer during the fifth-inning was his MLB-record ninth home run in a single postseason, but it was a fact that was nearly forgotten by the end of the contest. Arozarena earned a walk with two outs and represented the tying run while trailing 7-6 during the ninth inning, and he managed to score from first base despite falling to the ground on his way to home plate thanks to a pair of errors by the Dodgers. The rookie outfielder has powered Tampa Bay's offense throughout the playoffs with a .377/.449/.841 slash line, nine homers, three doubles, one triple, 18 runs, 12 RBI and eight walks in 18 games.
Oct 24, 2020
Keeps slugging
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Game 3 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena slugged his home run in the final frame, cutting the Rays' deficit to four. It was his first extra-base hit in the World Series, though he has gotten on base in all three contests. It was another big hit for Arozarena in the midst of his breakout performance this postseason, as he's now hitting .354/.425/.800 across 65 at-bats.
Oct 18, 2020
Continues homer barrage
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Saturday's ALCS Game 7 win over the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has just eight career regular-season homers (in just 42 games), and he's already one shy of tying that total in 14 playoff contests. He's seventh playoff homer, a two-run shot off Lance McCullers, opened the scoring in this bottom of the first inning Saturday. He's hitting .382/.433/.855 in the postseason so far.
Oct 16, 2020
Stays hot at plate
Arozarena went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in the Rays' Game 5 loss to the Astros on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
It was his second homer in as many days and sixth of October. Arozarena now has 20 hits in the playoffs, only four fewer than he had in his major-league career prior to the start of the postseason. If the Rays are able to close it out in Game 6, Arozarena will in all likelihood be named ALCS MVP.
Oct 15, 2020
Hits another homer
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Game 4 of the ALCS against the Astros on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena's two-run blast in the fourth inning against Zack Greinke tied the score at two, though the Rays would eventually fall behind again. Arozarena has been the postseason's breakout star, homering five times in 11 games while hitting .442/.489/.907.
Oct 12, 2020
Yet another home run
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and three strikeouts in Sunday's win over the Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old's latest went out to straightaway center field at Petco Park and knotted the game at one apiece. Arozarena is putting together a run for the ages -- he's slashing .419/.471/.935 with four homers so far this postseason. He was excellent during the regular season as well and is looking like a top-100 overall pick in fantasy baseball next year even without much of a track record.
Oct 8, 2020
Continues hit barrage
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk during Wednesday's Game 3 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old now has a hit in all five playoff games this year, including a stretch of four straight multi-hit contests. Arozarena is a ridiculous 12-for-20 with three homers, a triple, two doubles, eight runs, four RBI and two walks as the Rays attempt to close out the series Thursday in Game 4.
Oct 7, 2020
Goes yard again
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena hit a solo homer off Deivi Garcia in the first inning of Tuesday's contest. The 25-year-old continued his extremely impressive postseason as he homered for the second night in a row. The right-handed hitter is now hitting .563 with five extra-base hits through four games of the 2020 postseason.
Oct 6, 2020
Homers off Cole in loss
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in the Rays' Game 1 loss to the Yankees on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena was a bright spot in the 9-3 defeat with his three hits, including a first-inning homer off Gerrit Cole. The 25-year-old outfielder has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball since he made his Rays debut in late August; he hit .281/.382/.641 with seven homers in 23 games during the regular season. He's clearly made manager Kevin Cash a believer as Cash now has Arozarena locked into the top third of the lineup.
Sep 26, 2020
Another productive night in win
Arozarena went 2-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Phillies on Friday.
ANALYSIS
The young outfielder also struck out on the three occasions he made an out, a reminder he's still somewhat of a work in progress despite his vast talent. However, Arozarena's latest multi-hit effort -- his second straight and third in his last four starts -- pushed his impressive line to .288/.368/.678 across 68 plate appearances over 21 games. The 25-year-old is also now a perfect 4-for-4 on steal attempts, an appealing fantasy complement to his seven home runs.
Sep 23, 2020
Swats pair of homers
Arozarena went 3-for-5 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena hit a two-run shot off Mets starter Michael Wacha in the sixth inning. In the eighth, Arozarena got aboard with a single and scored on a Willy Adames single. Arozarena went yard again in the ninth with a solo shot. The 25-year-old outfielder is up to six homers, three stolen bases, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored in 20 games this season.
Sep 22, 2020
Swipes base as pinch runner
Arozarena entered Monday's win over the Mets as a pinch runner and recorded his third stolen base of the season.
ANALYSIS
Manager Kevin Cash gave Arozarena the night off after four straight starts, but the 25-year-old was still ultimately called upon to provide some speed on the basepaths in the seventh as a pinch runner for Yoshi Tsutsugo. Arozarena has been a contributor at the big-league level over his first 18 games of the campaign, slashing an impressive .267/.370/.622 with five home runs across just 54 plate appearances.
Sep 21, 2020
Heads to bench
Arozarena is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena sits after starting four straight games. While he was quite hot initially upon joining the Rays in late August, he's stumbled to a .143/.265/.286 line over his last 10 games. Manuel Margot will be the left fielder in his absence.
Sep 20, 2020
Provides decisive homer
Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Saturday's win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena supplied the decisive hit in the contest, drilling a two-run homer to right field in the fifth inning. The long ball was his fifth of the season but his first since Sept. 7. He came into the contest with only two hits over his previous 22 at-bats.
Sep 17, 2020
Sitting Game 1
Arozarena is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Rays, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena started five of the past seven games but will take a seat for Thursday's matinee. Austin Meadows shifts to left field while Yoshi Tsutsugo serves as the designated hitter.
Sep 16, 2020
Emerging as near-everyday player
Arozarena will start in left field and will bat third Wednesday against the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
He'll be in the lineup for the fifth time in seven games as manager Kevin Cash continues to find ways to get Arozarena's bat in the starting nine. Injuries to Yandy Diaz (hamstring) and Ji-Man Choi (hamstring) have resulted in Brandon Lowe getting more in the infield of late, opening up more reps in the outfield for Arozarena and Manuel Margot. With a .310/.394/.724 slash line in his 11 games since being activated from the COVID-19 injured list, Arozarena should continue to receive steady work until he cools down at the dish.
Sep 7, 2020
Supplies only offense in loss
Arozarena went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-1 loss to the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
He entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning as a defensive substitute for Brandon Lowe and promptly launched his fourth homer of the year to lead off the eighth, although he also struck out with the bases loaded in the ninth to end the game. Arozarena is now 8-for-17 since joining the Tampa roster, but despite his early success at the plate he's unlikely to wrest away a starting job in a crowded outfield.
Sep 6, 2020
Belts pair of homers vs. Marlins
Arozarena went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena took Trevor Rogers deep for solo shots in the first and the sixth. The outfielder has impressed since returning from the COVID-19 injured list Aug. 30, logging seven hits, including three homers, across 15 at-bats. After his scorching start at the plate, the outfielder should continue to receive his fair share of at-bats moving forward.
Sep 6, 2020
Hits ground running
Arozarena, who entered Saturday's loss to the Marlins as a pinch hitter and went 2-for-2, is now hitting .364 across his first 14 plate appearances of the season.
ANALYSIS
The multi-talented outfielder has essentially been tormenting opposing arms since his High-A days back in 2017 with the Cardinals organization, with Arozarena seemingly getting more effective the higher in the minors he climbed. The 25-year-old's .358/.435/.593 slash line at Triple-A Memphis in 2019 was preceded by even more impressive .396/.455/.681 figures at Double-A Springfield a year earlier. Arozarena then hit .300 over his first 23 big-league plate appearances with the Cardinals last season, and his early work with the Rays implies he's picking up where he left off. Arozarena has now hit safely in three of the last four games, and his ability to play all three outfield spots coupled with his impressive bat work could continue to afford him semi-regular playing time at minimum.
Sep 2, 2020
Slugs homer
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run Wednesday against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena homered in his opening at-bat of the game, driving his first home run of the season over the left field wall. It was just his second start of the campaign, as he was activated from the COVID-19 injured list on Aug. 30. He's been productive in his limited action, slugging a home run and logging a stolen base in 12 plate appearances.
Aug 31, 2020
Swipes bag in first start
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 5-3 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Making his first start of 2020 and hitting leadoff as the DH against Gerrit Cole, Arozarena struck out twice but also showed that he can make an impact when he gets on base. The switch hitter doesn't have a clear path to a starting job in the Rays' crowded outfield, but if he keeps producing when he gets his chances, Arozarena could see fairly consistent playing time.
Aug 31, 2020
Leading off Monday
Arozarena will serve as the Rays' designated hitter and will lead off Monday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
After being reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of Sunday's 12-7 win over the Marlins, Arozarena made his Rays debut as a reserve, going 0-for-1 with a walk. Arozarena's speed on the bases and ability to switch hit and play all three outfield spots should make him a key weapon off the bench for Tampa Bay, but his path to an everyday role is somewhat muddled at the moment.
Aug 30, 2020
Returns from COVID-19 IL
The Rays reinstated Arozarena from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of Sunday's game against the Marlins, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has been fully recovered from COVID-19 for a while, as he's spent most of the month taking part in workouts at the team's alternate training site in Port Charlotte. With the Rays dealing designated hitter Jose Martinez to the Cubs earlier Sunday, the team will now have a spot open for Arozarena on the 40-man roster and 28-man active roster. Arozarena has the ability to play all three outfield spots, but he may have to settle for short-side platoon work initially. All three of the Rays' primary starters in the outfield -- Austin Meadows, Kevin Kiermaier and Brandon Lowe -- are left-handed hitters.
Aug 6, 2020
Getting reps at second base
Arozarena, who continues to work on his conditioning at the team's alternate training site in Port Charlotte, is also taking some reps at second base, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The plan is still for Arozarena to primarily play the outfield, where he played in all 308 of his professional regular-season games while with the Cardinals organization. Arozarena had taken reps at second in the past, however, including during spring training this year, and the enhanced positional versatility should only help both player and team once the promising 25-year-old is called up to the big-league roster.
Aug 5, 2020
Not yet day-to-day
Manager Kevin Cash recently said that Arozarena (COVID-19) will need a while to get back into game shape, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena has cleared all health-related protocols since testing positive for COVID-19, but because he missed all of summer camp before reporting to the Rays' alternate training site last week, he'll likely need at least another week to get his conditioning in order. MLB rosters are set to be reduced from 30 to 28 men beginning Friday, so Arozarena could have even more difficulty earning a look with the big club in the near future unless the Rays' outfield depth is tested.
Jul 28, 2020
Reporting for workouts
Arozarena (undisclosed) was cleared to report and will begin taking part in baseball activities at the Rays' alternate training site Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was unable to join Tampa Bay throughout summer camp for undisclosed reasons, but he's now on the path toward joining the team. Arozarena figures to require some time before reaching game readiness, though he could eventually work as a reserve/short-side platoon option in the outfield.
Jul 23, 2020
Shifts to IL
The Rays placed Arozarena (undisclosed) on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena wasn't present with the Rays at any point during summer camp, with the team providing no explanation behind his absence. Once he's cleared to report to the team, Arozarena will head to the Rays' alternate training site to resume baseball activities. The 25-year-old could join the big club at some point in 2020 as a reserve/short-side platoon outfielder.
Jul 19, 2020
Still absent from camp
Arozarena (undisclosed) is still absent from camp, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
He is the only Rays player who has not been seen on the field at all during camp. Arozarena was set to be a depth option anyway, and his inability to get work in thus far makes it even less likely that he sees notable playing time early in the season.
Jul 7, 2020
Not yet seen at workouts
Arozarena is one of the players that's yet to be seen at Tropicana Field for the Rays' summer camp workouts, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The reason for Arozarena's absence is unknown and the Rays have not officially made announcements about which players haven't been present, as per MLB protocol. The promising prospect is thought to have a chance of playing a reserve outfield role during the 2020 season if health allows.
Jun 28, 2020
Could play role in 2020
Arozarena will be a part of the Rays' 60-man player pool this season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
At the very least, Arozarena can provide quality outfield defense while profiling well against left-handed pitchers. Even so, players like Hunter Renfroe and Manuel Margot also have those traits while offering more experience than Arozarena, so he may be limited to a minor role, barring injuries ahead of him on the depth chart.
Apr 5, 2020
Could return with roster expansion
Arozarena is a good candidate to be recalled from Triple-A Durham if MLB allows teams to expand rosters to 29 players for at least the first month of the regular season, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Going strictly by his Grapefruit League numbers -- .400 (8-for-20) average, one double, one triple, six RBI, three steals and eight runs -- Arozarena had already done enough to secure an Opening Day roster spot. However, he appeared to be the victim of a numbers game when he was optioned to the Bulls on March 26. That move was made with the expectation that big-league rosters would be capped at 26 players, but the aforementioned likelihood that number expands by three at least temporarily opens up a potential opportunity for Arozarena. Tolentino notes the only strike against the 25-year-old is that he's not as defensively versatile as some other candidates, as he only plays the outfield.
Mar 26, 2020
Sent to Triple-A
The Rays optioned Arozarena to Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay's ample depth in the outfield more than anything prevented Arozarena from breaking camp with the big club, as the 25-year-old was otherwise impressive during the Grapefruit League slate with an 8-for-20 showing at the dish. Arozarena's ability to hit from both sides of the plate and play all three outfield spots should put him at the top of the list for a callup if the Rays require another outfielder at some point during the regular season.

Should be first outfielder promoted
Arozarena, who hit .400 (8-for-20) over 12 Grapefruit League games, will likely be the first outfielder called up from Triple-A Durham this season, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena got off to a hot start this spring and never let up, replicating the success he's already enjoyed at multiple stops in his professional career, including his initial big-league cup of coffee with the Cardinals last season. The 25-year-old slashed .300/.391/.500 across 23 plate appearances in that brief stint, which followed a spectacular .358/.435/.593 line over 64 games at Triple-A Memphis. Arozarena isn't likely to break through the logjam in the outfield to snag an Opening Day roster spot, but if he's able to carry over his spring momentum to his likely season-opening destination of Triple-A Durham, it likely won't be long before he's back with the Rays.

Tearing up spring arms
Arozarena, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in a Grapefruit League loss to the Twins on Tuesday, is 5-for-7 with a double, a triple, four RBI, two walks and five runs over his first four spring training games.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena was part of a multi-player deal between the Rays and Cardinals in January that also saw Jose Martinez arrive in Tampa. The 24-year-old boasts some stellar seasons on his minor-league resume, including a 2019 stop in Triple-A Memphis during which he slashed .358/.435/.593 with 12 home runs, 38 RBI, nine stolen bases and 51 runs across 283 plate appearances. Arozarena faces stiff competition for an Opening Day roster spot despite being capable of playing all three outfield positions, as the team reinforced its depth during the offseason with a pair of Padres imports, Hunter Renfroe and Manuel Margot. However, Arozarena could certainly force the issue if he manages to maintain his current caliber of play over the course of the exhibition slate.

Sent to Tampa Bay
Arozarena, Jose Martinez and a Compensation A draft pick were traded from the Cardinals to the Rays in exchange for Matt Liberatore, Edgardo Rodriguez and a Compensation B pick Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arozarena fared well in his first big-league action a season ago with St. Louis, going 6-for-20 at the dish with a homer, two RBI and two stolen bases in 19 games. The 24-year-old earned his promotion to the majors by putting together a .358/.435/.593 slash line at Triple-A Memphis, where he also hit 12 homers and drove in 38 runs across 64 contests. Arozarena seems unlikely to make the 25-man roster to begin the 2020 campaign, though he'll certainly be a candidate to come up later on in the season.
