Clinches playoff berth with save
Scott picked up the save Saturday against Pittsburgh, striking out three over 1.1 innings while not allowing any hits or walks.
ANALYSIS
Scott entered the contest with two outs and two runners on in the bottom of the eighth and was able to get the final out to hold Miami's 6-3 lead. He returned in the ninth and struck out the side to nail down his 12th save of the season as the Marlins clinched their first playoff berth since 2020 with the win. Scott has now converted his last three save opportunities and has struck out the side in two of his last three appearances.

Secures 11th save
Scott picked up the save in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Pirates. He retired all three batters faced without recording a strikeout.
ANALYSIS
Scott needed only nine pitches to retire three Pirates bats in order for his 11th save. The lefty reliever has excelled in the Marlins closer role throughout September. Scott owns a 1.80 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 17:1 K:BB with eight saves over 15 innings this month.

Back from paternity leave
Scott was activated from the paternity list ahead of Thursday's game against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott missed Wednesday's doubleheader at Citi Field while welcoming a new addition to his growing family, but he is back in time for Thursday's series finale. The 29-year-old left-hander had been serving as the Marlins' primary closer prior to his brief absence and boasts an overall 2.38 ERA with 101 strikeouts through 75.2 innings this season.
Sep 26, 2023
On paternity leave
The Marlins placed Scott on the paternity list Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The Marlins will be without their primary closer for up to three days as Scott spends time with his expanding family. Huascar Brazoban (hamstring) was reinstated from the injured list to take Scott's roster spot.

Notches save No. 10
Scott struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 10th save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
The lefty fired nine of 12 pitches for strikes while breezing through Milwaukee's 8-9-1 hitters. Scott has been mostly outstanding since taking over the closer role in late August, converting eight of 10 save chances over his last 13 appearances while posting a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 15:1 K:BB through 15.2 innings.

Blown save, win
Scott (9-5) blew the save, but picked up the win anyway Tuesday against the Mets. He allowed two runs on three hits over one inning.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old was unable to preserve Miami's two-run, ninth-inning lead Tuesday, surrendering three hits and two runs to blow the save opportunity. Luckily, Jake Burger notched a walk-off base hit in the bottom of the inning, earning Scott the vulture victory. After seven consecutive scoreless outings, the southpaw has allowed runs in each of his last two appearances. Scott is now 9-for-13 in his save chances this season, with a 2.44 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 96:24 K:BB across 73.2 innings.
Sep 13, 2023
Earns save Wednesday
Scott did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
An error put a runner on base, but Scott easily pitched around that to earn his eighth save of the season. He's converted five straight save chances since a blown save Sept. 1 versus the Nationals. He's also gone 18.2 innings without allowing an earned run, though he gave up two unearned runs in that aforementioned blown save. The 29-year-old has a 2.21 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 93:24 K:BB through 69.1 innings on the year. Given Scott's good performance, he should close the year as Miami's primary closer.
Sep 11, 2023
Converts five-out save
Scott picked up the save Sunday against the Phillies. He allowed one walk while striking out three over 1.2 scoreless innings.
ANALYSIS
Scott came on in relief of Andrew Nardi with one out in the eighth inning. With the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position, Scott struck out Edmundo Sosa and Kyle Schwarber to preserve a 5-4 lead before working around a walk and a hit-by-pitch in the ninth to earn his seventh save. The 29-year-old Scott has emerged as an elite closing option for Miami of late -- he hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 17.2 innings, striking out 21 while issuing just three walks in that span. He lowered his ERA to 2.24 on the season with a 1.04 WHIP and 92:24 K:BB across 68.1 innings.
Sep 9, 2023
Picks up sixth save
Scott picked up the save Friday against Philadelphia. He allowed zero hits and zero walks while striking out one over a perfect inning.
ANALYSIS
It was Scott's fourth save in five opportunities since taking over the closer's role from David Robertson in late August. Scott has now gone 16 consecutive innings spanning 14 appearances without allowing an earned run. Scott has quietly been one of the best relievers in baseball this season, holding a 2.30 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 89 strikeouts with seven wins, 24 holds and six saves over 66.2 innings.
Sep 6, 2023
Nails down fifth save
Scott picked up the save Tuesday against the Dodgers. He allowed a hit while striking out two over a scoreless inning.
ANALYSIS
Scott seems to have firmly established himself as the new closer in Miami, seeing their last four save opportunities since David Robertson was removed from the role. Scott struck out a pair of Dodgers on Tuesday, working around a one-out single, to secure his fifth save in a 6-3 win. The left-hander has now gone 13 appearances (15 innings) without giving up an earned run, lowering his ERA to 2.33 with a 1.07 WHIP and 88:23 K:BB across 65.2 innings this season.
Sep 3, 2023
Earns another save
Scott picked up the save Sunday against the Nationals. He allowed one hit while striking out one over a scoreless inning.
ANALYSIS
Scott's now gone 11 appearances (13 innings) without allowing an earned run. The left-hander has gotten the last three save opportunities in Miami since David Robertson was removed from the closing role. Overall, Scott's 4-for-7 in save chances with a 2.37 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 86:23 K:BB across 64.2 innings this season.
Sep 2, 2023
Blows save Friday but gets win
Scott (7-4) blew the save but picked up the win in Friday's 8-5 extra-innings victory over the Nationals, giving up two unearned runs on two hits over two frames. He struck out one.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw couldn't stop the phantom runner from scoring in both the 10th and 11th innings, but a four-run eruption by the Marlins in the top of the 11th gave Scott plenty of cushion. He still hasn't been tagged for an earned run since July 31, posting a 0.00 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 14:2 K:BB through 13 innings over the last month, and at least for the moment, Scott appears to be the answer for Miami at closer.
Aug 28, 2023
Picks up save Sunday
Scott earned his third save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth to beat the Nationals 2-1. He allowed two hits and did not walk or strike out a batter.
ANALYSIS
Reports earlier in the day Sunday surfaced that trade deadline acquisition David Robertson was being removed from the closer role, leaving Scott as the likely candidate to take over as the closer. Despite pitching Saturday as well, Scott's name was called on to handle things in the ninth. He allowed two singles but got Jacob Young to ground into a double play to end the game. Scott has now posted nine straight scoreless outings dating back to Aug. 2 and is having a fantastic year with a 2.55 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 83:23 K:BB in 60 innings.
Aug 27, 2023
Could step in as new closer
Scott appears to be the most likely candidate to step in as the Marlins' preferred closing option with Miami opting to remove David Robertson from the ninth-inning role, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The Marlins haven't confirmed as much, but Robertson looks to be on the outs as Miami's closer after he blew his second save in three chances in Saturday's loss to the Nationals. Robertson has blown three of seven save opportunities overall for the Marlins since he was acquired from the Mets in late July, while Scott has been far more reliable over the past month in his high-leverage spots. He has yet to allow a run in eight appearances in August and has struck out 12 while nabbing two wins and three holds and scattering four hits and two walks over 8.1 innings.
Jul 31, 2023
Pitches through calf strain
Scott (calf) tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning en route to earning his 21st hold of the season in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Scott was hampered a mild right calf strain in his previous appearance Friday, but he needed just one day off to move past the issue before being made available out of the bullpen for the series finale. He served as the primary setup man in front of the newly acquired David Robertson, who tossed a perfect ninth inning to secure his first save with the Marlins.
Jul 28, 2023
Suffers mild calf strain
Scott left Friday's game against the Tigers with a mild right calf strain, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up a run on two hits and a walk (JT Chargois allowed the inherited runner to score after Scott exited the game). Miami is downplaying the severity of the injury, but even a mild strain could threaten to push him to the injured list. Scott will need to show at least marginal improvement in the coming days.
Jul 21, 2023
Pushing for save chances
Scott will remain in a high-leverage role for the Marlins after manager Skip Schumaker gave a vote of confidence to A.J. Puk as the team's closer Friday, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw relievers have been trending in opposite directions lately, as Puk has given up seven runs with two losses and two blown saves over his last five appearances, while Scott has a 0.00 ERA and 13:2 K:BB through seven innings in July. Nonetheless, Schumaker will stick with Puk in the ninth inning for now, but if his struggles continue, Scott appears to be the next man up for save chances.
Jun 5, 2023
Snags fourth win
Scott (4-1) picked up the win in Sunday's victory over the A's, walking one batter in a scoreless eighth inning.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw kept the game tied at 5-5 in the top of the eighth, and got rewarded when the Marlins took the lead in the bottom of the frame. Scott has reeled off 11 straight scoreless appearances, shaving nearly two runs off his ERA in the process, and on the season he sports a 3.21 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 39:15 K:BB through 28 innings. He also has nine holds and two saves in addition to his wins, and with A.J. Puk (elbow) closing in on his return, Scott figures to remain in a setup role.
May 1, 2023
Picks up the win Sunday
Scott (2-1) earned the win in Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Cubs. He allowed no runs on two hits over one inning.
ANALYSIS
Scott worked around a pair of singles in the top of the eighth inning, coaxing a double-play ball from Nelson Velazquez to end the frame. Scott had a productive series against the Cubs, recording a win and a save over two scoreless innings. His ERA still sits at a subpar 5.25 with a 1.17 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB through 12 innings. The 28-year-old lefty was expected to share closing duties with A.J. Puk and Dylan Floro coming into the season, but he's fallen to a distant third on the depth chart. There's little reason to roster Scott at this point, outside of deeper holds leagues.
Apr 19, 2023
Collects first hold
Scott struck out one in a perfect seventh inning Tuesday to record his first hold of the season in a win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw appears to be behind both A.J. Puk and Dylan Floro for high-leverage opportunities in the Miami bullpen, but through seven appearances this season Scott now has a win, a save and a hold. He's also getting into a rhythm, reeling off four straight scoreless, no-hit outings with a 4:1 K:BB in 4.1 innings. The 28-year-old has been streaky throughout his career when it comes to maintaining his control, but while he's dialed in he'll have fantasy value in formats that value holds.
Apr 16, 2023
Picks up first save of season
Scott picked up the save Saturday against the Diamondbacks. He struck out one batter over a perfect inning.
ANALYSIS
Scott looks to be sharing closer duties with Dylan Floro and A.J. Puk, who typically pitch after him. Both Floro and Puk pitched on Friday, which is why manager Skip Schumaker gave Scott the nod. The southpaw has now registered five straight scoreless appearances, and currently sports a stingy 1.06 WHIP.
Mar 29, 2023
Named as candidate for saves
Marlins manager Skip Schumaker mentioned Scott, A.J. Puk and Dylan Floro as being "in the mix" for closing situations to begin the season, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Scott and Floro have a similar amount of closing experience at the MLB level, while Puk, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, may profile as the most talented arm in the bullpen if he can enjoy the sustained run of health that has thus far eluded him in his professional career. The fact that Schumaker is a first-year manager makes it even more difficult to predict whether he'll end up setting on one of the aforementioned three pitchers or someone else to see the bulk of the save chances, or if he'll take a loose committee approach to the ninth inning for the balance of the campaign. Scott brings immense strikeout upside to the table and is fine to take a dart throw on late in drafts or pick up off the waiver wire with the hope that he falls into save chances, but his career-long control issues -- his 15.9 percent walk rate last season was the worst among all relievers who pitched at least 50 innings -- make it hard to envision him locking down the closing gig for the entirety of th

Perfect in spring debut
Scott (biceps) struck out one over a perfect inning of relief in Friday's 7-2 win over the Nationals in Grapefruit League play.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old southpaw made his spring debut over the weekend after a bout with left biceps discomfort prompted the Marlins to slow down his throwing progression earlier in camp. Scott looked plenty healthy in his outing against Washington, retiring the side with ease while generating two groundballs in addition to punching out a batter. Assuming he avoids any setbacks heading into Opening Day, Scott should be part of the Marlins' late-inning picture and could even find himself in the mix for saves, given that manager Skip Schumaker has yet to name a designated closer.
Mar 7, 2023
Throws live BP
Scott (biceps) threw live batting practice Tuesday in Marlins camp, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
If he arrives back in camp Wednesday without any renewed discomfort, Scott should be cleared to make his Grapefruit League debut this Friday. He's been eased along so far at spring training because of minor discomfort in his left biceps, but it's looking like the 28-year-old high-leverage reliever is on track for Opening Day.
Mar 3, 2023
Resumes mound work
Scott (biceps) resumed throwing off a mound Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott has been slowed by some discomfort in his left biceps but has apparently made some nice progress of late. Assuming that progress continues, he should be ready for game action soon and could get in enough work to be ready for Opening Day. Scott is expected to be part of the Marlins' closer-by-committee approach in 2023.
Feb 28, 2023
Experiencing biceps discomfort
Scott has been experiencing minor biceps discomfort, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott is scheduled to test the issue with a round of catch Tuesday in Marlins camp. For now, it doesn't seem to be anything overly concerning. The 28-year-old left-hander is in line to handle at least some share of the save opportunities in Miami this season, assuming his health cooperates.
Feb 23, 2023
Still in mix for saves
Marlins manager Skip Schumaker indicated Wednesday he doesn't plan on using a traditional closer and will instead play matchups with Scott and the team's other high-leverage options, Jordan McPherson of The Miami Herald reports. "Our best guys are going to be against their best hitters," Schumaker said.
ANALYSIS
The veteran lefty led the Marlins with 20 saves last season, but control issues cost Scott the closing job down the stretch and allowed Dylan Floro to reclaim the ninth-inning role. Those two, along with newcomers Matt Barnes and A.J. Puk, figure to be in the mix for late-inning work, with Steven Okert (triceps) and JT Chargois potentially options as well. Given the sheer number of viable arms at the manager's disposal, there may not end up being one consistent save source on the Marlins this season, but plenty of fantasy value in formats that count holds as well.
Jan 13, 2023
Reaches deal with Miami
Scott agreed to a $2.825 million contract with the Marlins on Friday to avoid arbitration, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old led the Marlins with 20 saves last season, but he struggled during the second half while Dylan Floro finished the campaign as the primary closer. Scott finished with a 4.31 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 90:46 K:BB across 62.2 innings and is likely to open 2023 in a setup role.
Oct 2, 2022
Earns 20th save
Scott picked up the save Sunday in Milwaukee, striking out two and walking one in a scoreless 12th inning in a 4-3 extra-innings victory.
ANALYSIS
Scott allowed a one-out walk before retiring the last two batters to earn his 20th save of the season. Dylan Floro blew a save in the ninth, resulting in Scott being given the chance to convert his first save since Aug. 23. It's been a difficult second half for the 28-year-old as he has a 5.09 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 33:19 K:BB in 23 innings across 24 outings. Floro will likely be called upon first in any remaining save opportunities.
Aug 27, 2022
Blows sixth save
Scott gave up two runs on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning Friday to blow his sixth save of the season in a 10-6 extra-inning loss to the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Getting the call to protect a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning, Scott instead handed the lead over to Los Angeles, and he was only saved from his sixth loss of the year when Peyton Burdick homered to tie things back up in the bottom of the frame. Scott is 7-for-9 on save chances since the All-Star break, but that comes with a 5.93 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and volatile 15:11 K:BB through 13.2 innings.
Aug 24, 2022
Converts save Tuesday
Scott allowed a hit and allowed two inherited runners to score in two-thirds of an inning, securing the save in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Athletics.
ANALYSIS
Cole Sulser began the ninth inning with a five-run lead, but he recorded only one out. Scott had some trouble cleaning up the mess but ultimately closed it out for his 19th save of the season. The 28-year-old southpaw is now 19-for-24 in save chances this season while logging a 4.26 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 70:35 K:BB through 50.2 innings. He's been charged with three runs in eight innings across eight appearances in August.
Aug 23, 2022
Records 18th save
Scott allowed one hit and struck out one batter over one inning Monday to earn a save over the Athletics.
ANALYSIS
Edward Cabrera tossed another scoreless outing for Miami, and he turned the ball over to Scott with the Marlins leading by three runs in the ninth. The closer gave up a one-out single to Sean Murphy but didn't really face much stress in registering the save. Scott is prone to the occasional blowup, but he's been pretty good of late, succeeding on six of his past seven save chances and striking out 12 batters over 9.1 innings during that stretch. However, he's also walked seven hitters during that period, highlighting the most significant flaw in his game this season.
Aug 15, 2022
Picks up save
Scott allowed one hit and a walk in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Padres on Monday.
ANALYSIS
One day after being tagged with three runs in a loss, Scott was thrust right back into a save situation Monday. He found himself in a two-out jam but escaped with his 17th save of the year. Over his last four outings, Scott has given up seven hits and five walks across just 4.1 frames but he's converted three out of those four save chances.
Aug 14, 2022
Blows save, takes loss
Scott (4-5) allowed three runs on three hits and three walks in one inning Sunday against Atlanta. He blew the save opportunity and took the loss.
ANALYSIS
Scott blew the save on the very first pitch he threw, serving up a game-tying shot to Michael Harris to begin the ninth. The 28-year-old southpaw then gave up two more runs and took his fifth loss of the year. It was his first blown save sine July 13 and the first time he gave up more than two runs in an outing since June 15. Scott is now sporting a 67:34 K:BB and a 4.60 ERA through 47 innings.
Aug 12, 2022
Records 16th save
Scott allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three across 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the save Thursday against the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
Scott entered the game with two outs in the eighth inning and struck out a batter with runners on first and second to end the frame. He proceeded to allow the first three batters he faced to reach base in the ninth inning but escaped the jam with a pair of punchouts and a groundout to tally his 16th save of the season. Scott has been shaky of late -- he's allowed at least one earned run in four of his last nine appearances -- but the Marlins have given little indication they are looking to move on from him as their closer.
Aug 7, 2022
Notches 15th save
Scott earned the save Sunday, striking out two and allowing one hit in the ninth inning of a 3-0 win over the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Facing the top of Chicago's lineup, Scott allowed a leadoff single before retiring the next three batters, including punching out Seiya Suzuki and Patrick Wisdom. It was his 15th save in 19 chances this season. Since taking over the closer role at the beginning of June, Scott has a 3.42 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 37:18 K:BB in 26.1 innings.
Jul 29, 2022
Picks up 14th save
Scott picked up the save in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Reds. He allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two over one inning.
ANALYSIS
Scott came on in the ninth with a two-run lead and retired the first two hitters he faced before issuing back-to-back walks to Jonathan India and Brandon Dury. Following a mound visit, the lefty surrendered a two-strike, RBI single Tommy Pham, but he escaped the jam by striking out Joey Votto. The 27-year-old reliever has made 45 appearances (42.2 innings) this season and sports a 4.43 ERA with a 61:30 K:BB.
Jul 27, 2022
Collects 13th save
Scott struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 13th save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Reds.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw faced Cincinnati's 9-1-2 hitters and needed only 11 pitches (seven strikes) to lock down the save. Scott had stumbled through July, posting a 4.26 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 12:11 K:BB through 12.2 innings and blowing three of his nine save chances, but for now he still appears to be manager Don Mattingly's top choice for the closer role.
Jul 13, 2022
Blown save Wednesday
Scott suffered a blown save Wednesday after he pitched one inning, giving up one run on a hit and two walks while striking out one in the Marlins' 5-4 extra-inning victory over the Pirates. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Scott entered the game in the top of the ninth inning with a 2-1 lead, but he walked the first two batters he faced before Michael Chavis roped a game-tying RBI double. Scott was able to limit the damage to just one run and retired the next three batters he faced including a strikeout by Ben Gamel. The blown save was his fourth of the campaign and third in his last six opportunities. Scott now owns a 4.17 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 55 strikeouts over 36.2 innings and he has converted 12 out of 16 save chances this season.
Jul 10, 2022
Notches 12th save
Scott walked one batter over a scoreless inning Sunday, striking out two and earning a save over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Scott bounced back quickly after he blew a save and was tagged with a loss against the Mets on Saturday. He threw 11 of 19 pitches for strikes and the lone blemish on his final line came in the form of a two-out walk to Mark Canha. Scott has now converted 12 of 15 save chances on the year, though two of those blown opportunities have come in his last five outings. He's sporting a 4.04 ERA with a 54:22 K:BB through 35.2 frames.
Jul 9, 2022
Blows save Saturday
Scott (4-3) took the loss and blew the save against the Mets on Saturday, allowing two unearned runs on one hit while striking out two batters over two-thirds of an inning.
ANALYSIS
The game went into extra innings, and Miami took a one-run lead in the top of the 10th. Scott then entered to try to keep New York off the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame, and he struck out the first two batters he faced. However, Thomas Nido subsequently tied the score with a double, and Scott committed a throwing error on the following play to give the Mets a walk-off win. The blown save was the third of the season for Scott, but he should still be fairly secure in the closer role given his recent performance. Since the start of June, the southpaw has posted a 2.57 ERA and 25:9 K:BB over 16.1 innings.
Jul 9, 2022
Racks up 11th save
Scott walked one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his 11th save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw fought with his control, firing only 13 of 22 pitches for strikes, but the balls the Mets were able to put into play found their way into gloves. Scott's inability to find the plate consistently is beginning to cost him, as he has a 4.66 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB through 9.2 innings over his last 10 appearances with two blown saves, and if Marlins manager Don Mattingly elects to switch closers again it appears as though Dylan Floro could be the next man up.
Jul 6, 2022
Notches save No. 10
Scott recorded his 10th save of the season in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Angels, giving up a run on one hit and two walks while striking out one in the ninth inning.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw blew the combined shutout after Sandy Alcantara delivered another eight dazzling innings, but after he served up a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to Taylor Ward with one out, Scott got Jared Walsh to fly out to end the game. He's been tagged for runs in back-to-back appearances, but Scott still seems to have a fairly secure hold on the closer role for Miami, posting a 3.07 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB through 14.2 innings since the beginning of June while converting nine of 11 save chances and collecting four wins.
Jul 3, 2022
Earns win Sunday
Scott (4-2) allowed a run on a hit and a walk while striking out one in one inning to earn the win over the Nationals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Scott pitched in a third consecutive game Sunday and was unable to preserve the Marlins' one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning. However, he picked up his fourth win of the season since Miami won the game in the 10th inning. Although Scott was unable to earn the save Sunday, he's earned decent job security as the Marlins' closer over the first half of the season.
Jul 3, 2022
Picks up save
Scott picked up the save in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Nationals, allowing no runs one one hit while striking out none and walking none in one inning of relief.
ANALYSIS
Four Marlins pitchers have earned saves this season, but Scott leads them with nine after picking up a save against the Nationals. The lefty seems to have a firm grasp on the closer role at this point. His ERA spiked to 5.04 after a poor performance on June 15, but Scott has not allowed a run in six appearances since then and his ERA now sits at 4.06.
Jul 2, 2022
Nails down eighth save
Scott struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 6-3 win over the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
The veteran lefty continues to get the job done as the Marlins' closer. Since the beginning of June, Scott has been scored upon only twice in 12 appearances, posting a 2.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB through 11.2 innings over that stretch while converting seven of eight save chances.
Jun 26, 2022
Earns win Sunday
Scott (3-2) allowed no hits and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win over the Mets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw has served as the Marlins' primary closer while Anthony Bender (back) has been sidelined, but Scott was called upon to preserve a tie game in the top of the ninth inning Sunday. He succeeded and was rewarded with his third win of the season after Miami hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the ninth. The 27-year-old has tossed four scoreless innings over his last four appearances, and he's earned a win and two saves during that time. Although Bender converted six of eight save chances prior to his absence, Scott should still be firmly in the mix for high-leverage work once Bender returns to action.
Jun 24, 2022
Picks up seventh save
Scott allowed one hit but struck out three across a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Thursday against the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Scott allowed a one-out single but otherwise looked dominant to pick up his seventh save of the season. He has tallied each of Miami's last six saves and has allowed three earned runs -- all in one appearance -- across 8.2 innings as the closer. Scott's 16 walks across 28 total frames remain a concern, but his 45 strikeouts indicate he has the stuff to succeed in a ninth-inning role.

Notches sixth save
Scott earned a save after recording two strikeouts during the ninth inning of Tuesday's win over the Rockies. He walked one batter and didn't allow a hit.
ANALYSIS
The left-hander has now issued four walks over his past three appearances, but he had no other issues Tuesday while protecting a one-run lead. Scott has taken ahold of the closer role in June and is 5-for-6 in save opportunities with a 3.12 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings, though his 4.67 ERA for the campaign diminishes his longer-term prospects.

Blows first save
Scott (2-2) took the loss and blew his first save of the season Wednesday as the Marlins were downed 3-1 by the Phillies, giving up three runs on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. Both outs came on strikeouts.
ANALYSIS
Called in to close out a combined shutout, Scott instead put two runners aboard before serving up a walkoff homer to backup catcher Garrett Stubbs. Scott hadn't allowed an earned run in June prior to Wednesday's stumble, but his 5.04 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 39:13 K:BB through 25 innings on the season make it tough to count on him holding down the closer job in Miami for the long haul.
Jun 11, 2022
Notches fourth save
Scott struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his fourth save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Astros.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw now has three saves and two wins in his last five appearances, as Scott emerges as the Marlins' top bullpen option. His 4.24 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 11.9 percent walk rate through 23.1 innings on the season highlight his volatility, but Scott's career-best 35.6 percent strikeout rate -- which includes a 9:0 K:BB over that five-game stretch -- has allowed him to power through.
Jun 9, 2022
Picks up third save
Scott earned the save, striking out two in the ninth inning of a 7-4 win Thursday against Washington.
ANALYSIS
Scott retired the Nationals in order, striking out the first two batters before getting Juan Soto to line out to end the game. The lefty has two saves and two wins in his four June appearances. His three saves lead active Marlins and no other Marlin has recorded a save this month.
Jun 9, 2022
Backs into win Wednesday
Scott (2-1) picked up the win Wednesday, giving up an unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts in the 10th inning of a 2-1 victory over the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
The lefty allowed Luis Garcia to score as the phantom runner on a single by Keibert Ruiz for the game's first run, but the Marlins struck back for two runs in the bottom of the 10th. Scott has been Miami's most reliable high-leverage reliever lately, but that's not saying much -- he has a 4.15 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB through 13 innings since the beginning of May with two wins, a save and a hold in 14 appearances.
Jun 3, 2022
Collects second save
Scott struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Thursday to record his second save of the season in a win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw got his opportunity to close after Cole Sulser had blown his last two save chances, and Scott didn't disappoint. The 27-year-old has a career-high 33.3 percent strikeout rate through 19.1 innings, which is certainly closer-worthy, but he also sports a 13.8 percent walk rate along with a 5.12 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. Scott will need to string together a lot more clean appearances before he can be viewed as a safe high-leverage option, and a reliable fantasy asset.
May 14, 2022
Handed loss by Brewers
Scott (0-1) took the loss Friday against the Brewers, failing to record an out while giving up one run on two hits.
ANALYSIS
Entering a 1-1 game in the top of the ninth inning, Scott promptly loaded the bases on two singles and a hit by pitch before being replaced by Anthony Bender, who walked in the winning run. Scott's 38.6 percent strikeout rate to begin the season is elite, but it comes with a 12.3 percent walk rate, and his 4.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 12.1 innings highlight how volatile he's been. Despite seeing high-leverage work, the 27-year-old southpaw has zero wins or holds and only one save (on two chances) in 15 appearances for the Marlins.
Apr 25, 2022
Unravels in non-save situation
Scott gave up three runs on two hits while striking out one and getting just one out before being replaced in the ninth inning Sunday against Atlanta. He entered with a 5-1 lead and Miami ended up winning 5-4.
ANALYSIS
Scott struck out Travis Demeritte for the first out of the ninth inning with the Marlins up four runs, but it was a wild pitch and Demeritte reached first base safely. That was followed by an Ozzie Albies double, a Matt Olson sacrifice fly and an Austin Riley two-run homer. Scott got a save Saturday in a clean ninth inning and was called on a second day in a row to protect a four-run lead. He created a save situation that Louis Head converted. The Marlins seem to have a committee in the ninth inning, even though manager Don Mattingly would like one pitcher to emerge as the go-to option. Anthony Bender has faltered in the role, so any of Scott, Cole Sulser or Anthony Bass could get opportunities in the short term.
Apr 24, 2022
Collects first save as Marlin
Scott struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his first save of the season in a 9-7 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Anthony Bender hadn't pitched since Wednesday, but manager Don Mattingly didn't look his way after the Marlins took the lead in the top of the seventh inning, suggesting the closer role in Miami is wide open once again. Scott has pitched well to begin the season, posting a 12:2 K:BB through seven innings with a 2.57 ERA and 0.57 WHIP, but the southpaw could find himself in more of a high-leverage situational role rather than as the designated ninth-inning option once Dylan Floro (shoulder) comes off the IL.
Apr 3, 2022
Traded to Marlins
Scott and Cole Sulser were traded from the Orioles to the Marlins on Sunday in exchange for Antonio Velez and Kevin Guerrero, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott got some work as a setup man for Baltimore in 2021, and he logged 16 holds with a 5.17 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 54 innings across 62 relief appearances. The southpaw should be in the mix for some late-inning work with the Marlins this year, but he'll likely have to improve his 14.7 percent walk rate to become a more reliable option.
Mar 22, 2022
Signs for seven figures
Scott signed a one-year, $1.05 million contract with the Orioles on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott will just clear the seven-figure threshold in his first year of arbitration ability. He struck out 27.9 percent of opposing batters last season but also walked 14.7 percent, leading to a poor 5.17 ERA.
Mar 21, 2022
Set for spring debut Tuesday
Scott (knee) is scheduled to appear in relief Tuesday in the Orioles' Grapefruit League game against the Pirates, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott will be making his second appearance of the spring after he worked around a pair of walks to turn in a scoreless frame in his Grapefruit League debut Friday versus the Blue Jays. His inclusion on the Orioles' pitching schedule Tuesday is an indication that he's at full health this spring after he missed the final three weeks of the 2021 campaign with a left knee sprain. Baltimore hasn't appointed a closer ahead of Opening Day, but Scott and Cole Sulser look like the top frontrunners for saves among the relievers currently on the roster.
Sep 14, 2021
Forced to IL with knee sprain
Scott was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left knee sprain.
ANALYSIS
Scott last pitched Saturday, allowing six runs on six hits in just one-third of an inning against Toronto. He'll be eligible to come off the injured list Sept. 22 against Philadelphia, but per Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com, manager Brandon Hyde said the southpaw's season is probably over. If he is indeed done for the year, Scott will conclude the campaign with a 5.17 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 70:37 K:BB across 54 innings.
Sep 5, 2021
Picks up 16th hold
Scott allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two in 1.2 innings to earn a hold in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw was called upon for the last two outs of the seventh inning, and he remained in the game for the eighth. The 27-year-old hasn't been sharp in 11.2 innings since returning from a knee injury, allowing six runs (five earned) with a 10:6 K:BB in that span. For the season, Scott owns a 3.93 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 69:37 K:BB across 52.2 innings while adding a 5-4 record, 16 holds and two blown saves. Scott will still likely serve in a high-leverage role for the rest of the season.
Aug 26, 2021
Snares win Wednesday
Scott (5-4) struck out one without allowing a run in two-thirds of an inning, earning the win Wednesday over the Angels.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore's bats came to life in the eighth inning, rallying for five runs to put Scott in line for the win. This result snapped a 19-game losing streak for the team, which has made it difficult for many of its pitchers to produce noteworthy performances for fantasy managers. Since returning from a knee injury Aug. 11, Scott has allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He has a 3.83 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 64:33 K:BB through 47 innings this year. The southpaw has added 14 holds, so he should continue to see high-leverage work down the stretch.
Aug 11, 2021
Makes return from IL
The Orioles activated Scott (knee) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Alexander Wells was dispatched to Triple-A Norfolk to clear space on the active roster for Scott, who has been sidelined since July 31 with a left knee sprain. Before his brief stint on the IL, Scott had served as a high-leverage reliever for Baltimore, accruing a 3.95 ERA and 1.49 WHIP while collecting 14 holds over 41 frames. Expect him to immediately re-emerge as a factor for the Orioles in the late innings.
Aug 10, 2021
Threw bullpen, nearing return
Scott (knee) will return from the injured list soon after throwing a bullpen session Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The lefty has been on the IL since August 1 with a sprained left knee, but his throwing off a mound suggests the injury is mostly healed. Details about Scott's specific return date should become clear sometime this week.
Aug 6, 2021
Plays catch Friday
Scott (knee) played catch Friday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott landed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a sprained left knee, and the Orioles will evaluate his progress following Friday's throwing session. Manager Brandon Hyde is hopeful that the southpaw will be able to rejoin the team by mid-to-late next week.
Aug 1, 2021
Heads to IL
The Orioles placed Scott on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a sprained left knee, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Manager Brandon Hyde suggested that Scott wouldn't be in store for a long-term stay on the IL, but the lefty's move to the shelf nonetheless deprives Baltimore of one of its most-trusted arms in the late innings. Through 48 appearances on the season, Scott has compiled a 3.95 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 59:31 K:BB in 41 innings while picking up 14 holds.
Jul 31, 2021
Picks up knee injury
Scott was removed from Saturday's win over the Tigers with a knee injury, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old entered for the ninth inning with the Orioles leading 5-1, and he was pulled after issuing two walks and hitting a batter. He was charged with one earned run, but Cole Sulser stranded the other two baserunners. Scott should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.
Jul 29, 2021
Snags win Wednesday
Scott (4-4) earned the win Wednesday versus Miami. He allowed no baserunners in two-thirds of an inning.
ANALYSIS
Dillon Tate allowed two batters to reach base before getting an out, but Scott ended the threat with a fielder's choice and a groundout. Baltimore rallied for a walkoff walk in the bottom of the ninth, which made Scott the winning pitcher. The 27-year-old has a 3.07 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 59:28 K:BB across 41 innings this year. He's collected 14 holds and could be in the mix for save chances going forward.
Jul 21, 2021
Blows save, takes loss Wednesday
Scott (3-4) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk, striking out two in 0.2 innings and taking the loss in Wednesday's 5-4 defeat against the Rays.
ANALYSIS
With a one-run lead, Scott loaded the bases before striking out Vidal Brujan and getting Austin Meadows in an 0-2 hole. Meadows lined a two-run, game-winning single to center field, though, pinning Scott with both a blown save and a loss. Entering Wednesday, the hard-throwing lefty had held opponents scoreless in 17 of his last 20 appearances and hadn't allowed multiple runs in a game since May 24. Despite his poor performance Wednesday, Scott still boasts a 3.08 ERA and 13.0 K/9 in 38 innings and has been a bright spot in a tough season for Baltimore's bullpen.
Jul 18, 2021
Steady performances lately
Scott has allowed three runs on seven hits and six walks across 10.1 innings in his last 10 appearances.
ANALYSIS
In that span, the left-hander has struck out 13 batters. While Scott continues to have a troubling 6.6 BB/9 for the year, he's done better recently at run prevention. He owns a 2.70 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 52:27 K:BB across 36.2 innings overall while earning 12 holds in 41 appearances.
Jul 1, 2021
Earns win Wednesday
Scott (3-3) pitched 1.2 perfect innings while striking out four as he got the win over the Astros on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Scott entered in the fifth with two men on and one out after Matt Harvey surrendered back-to-back walks before he was replaced on the mound. The 26-year-old Scott got out of trouble with ease and then struck out the side in the sixth in what was his best relief outing of the year. It was the first time he's gone over an inning of relief since April 7 and the first time he's struck out four since June 29, 2019. This comes on the heels of one his worst performances of the year after he walked three and struck out one in just a third of an inning Monday against the Astros. Scott now owns a 2.93 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 48:26 K:BB over 30.2 innings.
Jun 19, 2021
Adds hold
Scott walked one and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn a hold in Friday's 7-1 win over Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Scott has allowed just three hits and four walks across his last eight innings, and he's struck out 16 in that span. After a shaky start to the year, he's found success in limiting baserunners recently. He has a 2.73 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 39:21 K:BB and 12 holds across 26.1 innings overall. Scott will likely remain in a high-leverage role, although Baltimore's poor performance as a team has limited those opportunities.
Jun 5, 2021
Records 11th hold
Scott struck out the side in the eighth inning of Friday's 3-1 win over Cleveland to earn a hold.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw efficiently needed just 10 pitches, six of which were swinging strikes. Scott has strung together five scoreless innings in his last six appearances. The reliever has a 3.09 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 34:19 K:BB with 11 holds and a 2-3 record through 23.1 innings. While he's not in the mix for closing duties, he continues to see high-leverage work.
May 25, 2021
Charged with loss
Scott (2-3) allowed two runs on a hit and a walk with one strikeout in one-third of an inning versus Minnesota on Monday. He was charged with the loss.
ANALYSIS
Scott allowed two of the three batters he faced to reach base, and Cesar Valdez allowed both inherited runners to score. The second of those runs gave Minnesota the lead, leaving Scott with the loss. The 26-year-old has given up five runs (four earned) in his last two appearances. He has a 3.93 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 23:17 K:BB across 18.1 innings overall. The southpaw has added nine holds in 22 outings.
May 23, 2021
Scoreless streak ends
Scott gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and struck out one in one inning of Saturday's 12-9 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw worked the sixth inning, but he didn't find much success as Washington racked up three runs to extend its lead. Prior to Saturday, Scott had pitched 3.2 scoreless innings over his last six appearances. The 26-year-old has a solid 3.00 ERA, but his 1.61 WHIP and 22:16 K:BB remain a cause of concern for his ability to continue keeping runs off the scoreboard.
May 11, 2021
Collects win Monday
Scott (2-2) retired the only batter he faced via strikeout and earned the win Monday versus Boston.
ANALYSIS
Scott struck out Rafael Devers to end the sixth inning after starter Jorge Lopez allowed a double to Xander Bogaerts. The 26-year-old Scott has allowed just one run over his last six innings. He has a solid 2.45 ERA, but a 1.43 WHIP and 17:14 K:BB suggest he's had a fair amount of luck. He's seen a mostly high-leverage work this season -- as long as he keeps runs off the board, that usage should continue.
Apr 30, 2021
Earns extra-inning win
Scott (1-2) pitched a scoreless 10th inning with one walks and two strikeouts to earn the extra-inning win over the Yankees on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Scott did his part in the top of the 10th inning, and Cedric Mullins produced a walkoff sacrifice fly for the win. The 26-year-old Scott has pitched well so far with a 2.53 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 13:11 K:BB across 10.2 innings. He's also racked up five holds in 11 appearances. While the southpaw isn't expected to see many save chances, he's likely to work in high-leverage scenarios.
Apr 27, 2021
Collects fifth hold
Scott pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on three walks with one strikeout to earn a hold in Monday's 4-2 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Scott was a bit sloppy in this outing, but Cesar Valdez relieved him and the latter was able to escape a bases-loaded jam to end the eighth inning. The 26-year-old Scott has a 3.12 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and five holds in 8.2 innings. He's also taken two losses and carries an 11:10 K:BB, so there could be some regression looming in the near future.
Apr 21, 2021
Picks up fourth hold
Scott allowed one hit and no runs in two-thirds of an inning for a hold in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Scott got the last two outs of the seventh inning. The 26-year-old southpaw has a 2.57 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB across seven innings this season. He's picked up four holds and two losses in seven appearances. Cesar Valdez has a decent grip on the closer job for now, but Scott remains part of the bridge to him in the late innings.
Apr 18, 2021
Notches hold
Scott pitched a scoreless inning and allowed one walk to earn a hold in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Scott pitched the eighth inning and successfully protected a two-run lead. The southpaw has a 2.84 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB across 6.1 innings so far this season. He's also taken a pair of losses and earned three holds in six appearances. Scott remains in the closer conversation, but he's yet to record a save.
Apr 16, 2021
Charged with loss
Scott (0-2) took the loss in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader versus the Mariners. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in one inning.
ANALYSIS
Scott relieved starter Matt Harvey in the fifth inning and got Kyle Seager to ground out to end the frame. In the sixth, Scott allowed a two-out, two-run double to J.P. Crawford that put the Mariners ahead 4-2. That was the final score, and Scott took his second loss in three days. The southpaw has a 3.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB across 5.1 innings this season. Despite the recent struggles, he'll likely continue to see high-leverage work in the near future.
Apr 14, 2021
Takes first loss
Scott (0-1) allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out two to take an extra-inning loss in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Scott allowed an RBI double to Kyle Seager in the eighth inning, and that was enough to hand the southpaw his first loss of the year. He's yet to give up an earned run in 2021, yielding just two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts across 4.1 innings this season. Scott also has two holds -- he's in the mix for saves and should see mostly high-leverage assignments.
Apr 2, 2021
Picks up hold Friday
Scott allowed two walks and struck out two in one inning to earn a hold in Friday's 3-0 win over the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Scott worked the eighth inning after John Means spun seven innings of one-hit ball. The 26-year-old Scott wasn't quite as efficient, but he kept runs off the board. The southpaw is expected to be in the mix for saves to start 2021 while Hunter Harvey (oblique) is sidelined. Cesar Valdez pitched a scoreless ninth inning Friday to earn the save, and Shawn Armstrong (paternity) is also likely challenge Scott for closing duties.
Mar 25, 2021
Candidate for saves
Scott is a candidate to see save opportunities to begin the season, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The absence of Hunter Harvey (oblique) until at least late May has opened the door for early-season saves in Baltimore. Manager Brandon Hyde has already stated that he won't name a closer, though Scott is seemingly a leading candidate for the role. As a lefty with 96.5 mph velocity, he certainly has the potential to succeed but will need to improve his control to perform at a consistently high level.
Aug 23, 2020
Earns first career save
Scott allowed one run on two hits and no walks while striking out zero over one-third of an inning as he earned the save Sunday against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
The Orioles entered the ninth inning with a three-run lead, but Mychal Givens allowed one run over the first two-thirds of the inning. Scott was called on to get out of the jam, and he narrowly did so to earn the first save of his career. While the save is a nice surprise for fantasy managers, he's unlikely to receive save chances on a regular basis due to the Orioles' willingness to rotate pitchers to close out games.
