Recalled from Triple-A
Herrin was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Herrin has been down in Triple-A Columbus since he gave up three runs in his last major league appearance July 23. Prior to that appearance, the reliever had not given up a run in his previous four games. While his ERA did drop in that span, his WHIP rose by 0.11.

Sent to Columbus
The Guardians optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland selected the contract of lefty Daniel Norris from Triple-A to replace Herrin on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen. Herrin was the pitcher of record in Sunday's loss to the Phillies after giving up three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk. He needed 22 pitches to record his three outs and also threw 22 pitches between appearances Thursday and Friday, so he was unlikely to be available out of the bullpen for at least a couple of days.

Takes loss Sunday
Herrin (1-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on a hit and a walk while striking out two over one-plus innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
Herrin kept the game close in the ninth inning, but after the Guardians tied it, he struggled when he came out for the 10th. Trevor Stephan couldn't contain the Phillies' rally either, and Herrin ended up with his first loss of the campaign. Herrin is now at a 5.55 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB with a hold and a blown save through 24.1 innings this season. The Guardians used a bullpen game Sunday, which likely explains why the southpaw was pitching in the late innings when he typically works much earlier in games.

Recalled from Triple-A
The Guardians recalled Herrin from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Herrin will return to Cleveland's bullpen with the placement of Triston McKenzie (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Saturday. The 26-year-old lefty has made 10 major-league appearances this season, allowing nine runs over the course of 12.2 innings while racking up 14 strikeouts.

Optioned to Columbus
Cleveland optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Herrin is removed from the 26-man active roster to make room for Cody Morris after Morris was activated off the 60-day injured list by the Guardians on Sunday. Herrin was only with the club for a day as he was recalled by Cleveland prior to Saturday's affair, and he'll likely be up and down for the Guardians throughout the 2023 campaign.

ANALYSIS
Herrin will return to Triple-A after he was called up Friday, failing to appear in a game while with the Guardians. The left-hander has produced a 4.70 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 10 strikeouts over 7.2 innings in seven appearances with Columbus this season.

Recalled from Triple-A
The Guardians recalled Herrin from Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Early struggles sent Herrin to Triple-A in late April, but he will return to Cleveland to take the place of Peyton Battenfield (shoulder), who landed on the 15-day injured list Friday. Aside from one four-run, 0.2-inning appearance, Herrin has been virtually flawless in Triple-A and boasts 10 strikeouts through 7.2 frames.

Picks up first big-league win
Herrin (1-0) retired the only batter he faced and earned the win in Sunday's extra-innings victory over the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Herrin got Jarred Kelenic on a groundout to end the top of the 12th inning, and the Guardians won in their half of the frame. Aside from a sloppy outing Wednesday versus the Athletics, Herrin has been solid in a low-leverage relief role. He has a 9:3 K:BB while allowing just two hits over 4.2 innings, though one of those hits was a home run.

Makes Opening Day roster
Herrin has been informed he's made the Opening Day roster for the Guardians, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Herrin was added to the 40-man roster ahead of the Rule 5 draft in November, and the southpaw registered an 11:2 K:BB with a 4.66 ERA over nine appearances in the Cactus League before receiving the good news. Herrin will likely will pitch in the middle innings while with the Guardians.
