Heading back to Rocket City
The Angels optioned Mederos to Double-A Rocket City on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Mederos' stay with the big club lasted just one day, with the young right-hander tossing a scoreless inning out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to Atlanta. He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen to right-hander Dominic Leone, whom the Angels acquired from the Mets ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

Back in majors
The Angels recalled Mederos from Triple-A Rocket City on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
With Griffin Canning (calf) headed for the injured list, Mederos will come up from Double-A to add depth to Los Angeles' pitching staff. Mederos has been used primarily as a starter in Double-A this season, but will likely come out of the Angels' bullpen as he did during his last stint in the majors.

ANALYSIS

Slated for big-league promotion
Mederos will be called up by the Angels prior to Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, Francys Romero of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old right-hander has just a 5.98 ERA in 12 starts this season with Double-A Rocket City, although it's worth noting that he's used the pre-tacked balls many pitchers in the Southern League have had issues with, and Mederos has fanned 71 over 55.2 innings for the Trash Pandas. It's not clear at this point whether the plan is to use him as a reliever or starter. He'll be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.
