Adames (concussion) resumed baseball activities Friday with High-A Wisconsin, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Adames won't join the Brewers during their current series in Cincinnati. Instead, he will be re-evaluated by the Brewers after the weekend and could potentially return to the lineup for the series opener against Baltimore on Tuesday. The slugging shortstop has been on the 7-day injured list since Saturday.

Andruw Monasterio was called up from Triple-A Nashville to provide depth to the infield while Adames recovers after the freak accident.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell told reporters that Adames (head) will be placed on the 7-day injured list with a concussion after leaving Friday's game against the Giants, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

A line drive off the bat from Brian Anderson in the second inning struck Adames in the head, and he left the stadium to head to a hospital to be evaluated. The positive news is that Adames has no fractures and he's been alert throughout, and while he will remain in the hospital overnight, he's expected to be released Saturday according to Counsell. Adames will miss at least a week, but as Hogg notes in his report, this could have been much worse.

While his average and OBP are down from his breakout 2021 season, the 26-year-old continues to hit for power and his 22 homers are just three shy of last year's mark.

The Brewers reinstated Adames (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Milwaukee optioned utility man Pablo Reyes to Triple-A Nashville to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for Adames, who had been sidelined since mid-May with a left high-ankle sprain. Adames checked out fine following a recent three-game rehab assignment at Nashville, so he'll be in the clear to reclaim an everyday role at shortstop. Luis Urias is expected to slide back over to third base as a result, while Jace Peterson will transition into a utility gig.

Adames (ankle/quadriceps) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

It was previously reported Adames was poised to be reinstated for Tuesday's series opener versus the Phillies, but manager Craig Counsell said the team wants to give the shortstop an extra day to make sure he's fully healthy. The 25-year-old upped the intensity of his training this past offseason in an attempt to hit on all cylinders offensively in 2021, and he's gotten his quest off to an encouraging start, albeit over a small sample, early in Grapefruit League play.

"Hopefully this year is a little bit different for me in a good way," Adames said. "I'm just happy to be around, just happy to be back and can't wait to be on the field and show what we can do."

Adames has been putting plenty of good wood on the ball during the aforementioned stretch as well, belting seven doubles and three home runs while generating an elite 38.5 percent line-drive rate and 46.2 percent hard-contact rate. However, he struck out at an elevated 31.3 percent rate and benefited from an unsustainable .472 BABIP over the same period, so some September regression is possible if he doesn't begin making more consistent contact.
