Swipes two bags
Edwards went 3-for-4 with two steals in Sunday's victory over Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
In an increasingly rare start, Edwards was able to display his main calling card, speed, as he stole second base twice in the game. The rookie has struggled to see playing time of late as he's started only twice over the last eight games. Edwards is slashing .303/.333/.348 with three steals, 11 runs and three RBI over 71 big-league appearances.

Added to lineup Tuesday
Edwards was added to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Edwards will start at second base and bat ninth for the Marlins after Luis Arraez suffered a left ankle sprain during pregame infield practice. It's the first start for Edwards since Friday's series opener versus Atlanta, but he could see a sudden uptick in playing time if Arraez requires an extended absence.

Idle again Monday
Edwards is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards went 4-for-16 with a walk, an RBI and two runs while making five consecutive starts at second base last week, but he appears to have since settled back into a utility role in the wake of Jorge Soler's recent return from the IL. With Soler having been reinstalled as the Marlins' designated hitter, Luis Arraez is expected to see most of his starts at the keystone moving forward rather than at first base. Edwards will hit the bench for a third straight contest as a result.

Another start at second base
Edwards is again starting at second base and batting seventh Thursday against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Luis Arraez will again play first base, with Josh Bell filling the DH role, as the Marlins cope with Jorge Soler (oblique) being placed on the injured list Wednesday. Edwards has gone 11-for-31 (.355) with two doubles and one stolen base through his first 12 major-league games this year, building on an impressive overall summer with Triple-A Jacksonville. Miami could continue to give the 23-year-old semi-regular looks at second base and in the outfield.

Garners start at second base
Edwards is starting at second base and batting seventh in Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards will handle the keystone for this one while Luis Arraez slides over to play first base and Josh Bell serves as the designated hitter. The speedy 24-year-old has fared well during his brief time in the majors this season, posting an .815 OPS with one stolen base in 11 games.

Rejoins big club
Edwards went 0-for-1 with a run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Nationals after being recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville prior to the game.
ANALYSIS
Edwards and right-handed reliever Geoff Hartlieb joined the Marlins on Friday as the team's two September call-ups with the active roster expanding from 26 to 28 men. With the 68-67 Marlins still in the thick of the National League wild-card race, Edwards may not get the immediate opportunity to play regularly, unless the Marlins elect to call an end to the unproductive platoon of Joey Wendle and Jon Berti at shortstop.

Optioned to Triple-A
Edwards was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Jesus Sanchez (hamstring) has been activated from the injured list in a corresponding roster move ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Padres. Edwards, 23, is 8-for-21 (.381) this year in the majors and should eventually get another opportunity with the Marlins.

Nabs first big-league steal
Edwards went 2-for-3 with a double, a run, an RBI and a stolen base Thursday in a 5-3 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Edwards had his best game as a major-leaguer in the victory, producing his first multi-hit performance, his first extra-base hit and his first theft. He also recorded his first RBI with a run-scoring single in the fourth inning. Edwards was called up to the big club Tuesday after going 1-for-6 in his first call-up to the majors earlier this month.
May 16, 2023
Recalled from Triple-A
Miami recalled Edwards from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Edwards will add some versatility to the Marlins' position player mix with Jazz Chisholm (toe) facing at least a month-long absence. Edwards, 23, has batted .316/.431/.390 with zero homers and eight steals in 26 games this season at the Triple-A level. He stands 1-for-6 through three major-league games.
May 7, 2023
Returns to minors
Edwards was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards received his first promotion to the big leagues Tuesday and went 1-for-6 with a run and a strikeout in three games during his brief time in the majors. Joey Wendle (ribs) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.
May 2, 2023
Recalled from Triple-A
Edwards was recalled Tuesday from Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards will get his first taste of major-league action with the Marlins at age 23, likely operating in a utility role on Miami's infield. He had slashed .306/.427/.361 with zero home runs and seven stolen bases through 20 games (90 plate appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.

Among cuts by Marlins
Edwards was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville by the Marlins on Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards is coming off a disappointing season in his first taste of Triple-A ball but does maintain some fantasy upside because of his wheels. The 23-year-old was acquired from the Rays via trade back in November.
Nov 15, 2022
Sent to Marlins
Edwards and JT Chargois were acquired by the Marlins from the Rays on Tuesday in exchange for Marcus Johnson and Santiago Suarez.
ANALYSIS
Edwards was one of Tampa Bay's top prospects but will be flipped in order to acquire a couple minor-league pitchers. He spent 2022 at the Triple-A level and had a .246/.328/.350 slash line with five home runs, 33 RBI and seven stolen bases in 93 games, so a change of scenery certainly won't hurt.

Debuts at Durham
Edwards (shoulder) has gone 3-for-12 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs in three games for Triple-A Durham since being reinstated from Double-A Montgomery's 7-day injured list Tuesday and getting transferred to the Rays' top affiliate.
ANALYSIS
Coming out of spring training, Edwards was assigned to Double-A Montgomery and placed on the IL due to a shoulder impingement, but he ended up making his 2022 debut at Triple-A, presumably because Durham's infield depth has been tested with Taylor Walls, Isaac Paredes and Vidal Brujan all having been recently moved up to the big-league roster. In addition to the aforementioned three players, the Rays also have another middle-infield prospect in Jonathan Aranda at Triple-A, and since he possesses a 40-man roster spot, he'll likely be in line for a promotion to the big leagues before Edwards, who isn't on the 40-man roster.

Nearing return
Edwards (shoulder) has been working out at the team's spring training facility and is nearing a return to game action, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards was diagnosed with a shoulder impingement in early April, though the issue was not deemed to be major. It's not clear exactly what activity Edwards has been engaged in while missing game action, but it appears that a return in late April remains realistic.

Dealing with should issue
Edwards has been diagnosed with a shoulder impingement, but the Rays hope he can return to the field by late April, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards suffered the injury in early March, which kept him out of game action for all of spring training. His absence will now extend into the minor-league regular season, though the team plans for him to return to the lineup with Triple-A Durham in the next few weeks. Edwards is a strong prospect based on an above-average hit tool and excellent speed, but he is blocked by the likes of Wander Franco and Brandon Lowe at the big-league level.

Reinstated from injured list
Edwards (oblique) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards landed on the injured list with the oblique issue in early-May, but the injury was never considered to be serious. The infielder took slightly longer than expected to return, but is now set to join Double-A Montgomery on Tuesday. Edwards slashed .301/.349/.367 with 13 RBI at High-A Charlotte in 2019.
May 6, 2021
Out with oblique injury
Edwards is opening the year on the 7-day injured list with Double-A Montgomery due to an oblique injury, Sam Dykstra of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He suffered the injury in minor-league camp, but the Rays don't think the injury is serious. Edwards is expected back sometime this month.
