Struggles in blowout loss
Daniels was 15-for-25 passing for 152 yards and one interception during Saturday's 56-23 loss to Notre Dame. He also had 11 rushes for one yard.
ANALYSIS
The Irish pummeled Stanford Saturday, and the team shuffled through quarterbacks to find some kind of a spark. Justin Lamson and Ari Patu made appearances in lieu of Daniels, who was still the best option in a bad scenario for the Cardinal. Daniels is still the odds-on favorite to start in 2024, as the sophomore had flashes of efficiency throughout the season.

Solid line in loss
Daniels completed 18 of 35 passes for 188 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 27-15 loss against California. He also had 12 rushes for 67 yards.
ANALYSIS
Although Daniels was questionable with a hand issue, he took the field and shoed no ill effects from the injury. Daniels had a mistake-free day end flashed duel-threat capability, but the Cardinal defense had a difficult time containing Jadyn Ott and the resurgent Cal offense.

Starting against California
Daniels (hand) is starting against California on Saturday, Stanford writer Matt Milliken reports.
ANALYSIS
Stanford coach Troy Taylor indicated Tuesday that Daniels was considered day-to-day for Saturday's game, but he recovered quickly enough to lead the offense in this contest. Daniels has completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 1,907 yards, 10 scores and seven picks in 2023.

Considered day-to-day
Stanford coach Troy Taylor indicated Tuesday that Daniels (hand) is considered day-to-day for Saturday's game against California, SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Daniels suffered a hand injury during last week's game against Oregon State and could be forced to miss this matchup against the Golden Bears. Should he be ruled out, Justin Lamson will likely start under center after filling in for the sophomore quarterback once he exited the game.
Nov 12, 2023
Injured in loss
Daniels went 10-for-16 passing for 200 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions before suffering a hand injury in Saturday's loss to Oregon State.
ANALYSIS
Justin Lamson took over for Daniels in the 62-17 loss and would likely get the start next week vs. Cal if Daniels remains sidelined. Daniels has completed 59.2 percent of his passes for 1,907 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions while adding 228 rushing yards with three additional scores in his sophomore campaign.

Puts in lackluster performance
Daniels completed 15 of 31 passes for 115 yards and one interception during Saturday's 10-7 win versus Washington State. He also had nine rushes for 18 yards.
ANALYSIS
Daniels was primarily the passing threat in Stanford's two-quarterback system on Saturday. Unfortunately, he was only able to turn his 31 pass attempts into 115 yards, failing to find the end zone as well. Fellow quarterback Justin Lamson tallied 20 carries in the affair, which doesn't bode well for Daniels' usage as a runner going forward. If he wants to have fantasy relevance in the coming weeks, the sophomore quarterback will need to be more efficient in the passing game.
Oct 29, 2023
Excellent total in loss
Daniels completed 31 of 50 passes for 367 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 42-33 loss against Washington. He also had 18 rushes for 85 yards with two touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
You can't pin this loss on Daniels, as he had his second 300-plus yard game of the season against an imposing Washington defense. His backfield fared well enough to allow Daniels to pass the ball more, and he heaved it up a season-high 50 times in the loss. Daniels also set a season-high is rushing, with 85 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts.

Defense thwarts solid game
Daniels completed 27 of 45 passes for 268 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 42-7 defeat to UCLA. He also had six rushes for -11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Daniels was let down by his defense Saturday, but the sophomore has put together solid numbers against a ranked team for the second consecutive week. After directing eight scoring drives against USC, UCLA's defense was a much tougher test. The scoreboard doesn't necessarily reflect it, but that's a result of sputtering out in the red zone. Daniels moved the ball well between the 20s and committed only one interception against a very talented cornerback crew.

Leads eight scoring drives
Daniels was 27-for-45 passing for 396 yards and four touchdowns during Friday's 46-43 overtime win against Colorado. He also had 16 rushes for 39 yards.
ANALYSIS
Although the timeshare continued between Daniels and Justin Lamson, Daniels spurred a record-breaking comeback with an excellent second half. Daniels and his offense exploited Colorado's complacent defense for the unlikely overtime win. Despite Daniels' scintillating performance, we should still see Lamson's participation.
Oct 13, 2023
Expected to play Friday
Daniels (head) is good to go for Friday's game against Colorado, Rivals.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Daniels suffered a head injury in Week 5's matchup with Oregon but is set to play Friday. However, Daniels and Justin Lamson could continue to split reps.

Heads to locker room
Daniels was taken to the locker room after an apparent helmet-to-helmet hit and is questionable to return to Saturday's game against Oregon, Cardinal Country reports.
ANALYSIS
The hit looked nasty, and it's unclear whether Daniels will be able to return under center while he's probably being evaluated for concussion symptoms. Justin Lamson, who has seen plenty of time under center as well while Stanford continue to use a committee-based approach at quarterback, will take over for the sophomore signal-caller.
Sep 25, 2023
Efficient as QB timeshare continues
Daniels was 14-for-26 passing for 198 yards during Saturday's 21-20 loss versus Arizona. He also had six rushes for -11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Daniels and Justin Lamson seem destined to be in a committee situation moving forward. The two quarterbacks would even swap out in the middle of a drive, and the change didn't appear to be situation-specific, either. Daniels made the better hosing in the narrow loss, but the scenario is one to stay away from in fantasy.
Sep 16, 2023
Starts but eventually benched
Daniels completed 4 of 7 passes for 69 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 30-23 defeat to Sacramento State. He also had five rushes for 20 yards.
ANALYSIS
Daniels was pulled entirely too early, as coach Troy Taylor sent him packing after just one interception. Justin Lamson took over, and Daniels didn't return. This situation is best avoided in all fantasy formats, as it's anyone's guess who will helm the offense week-to-week.

Gets Week 3 start
Daniels will start for Stanford on Saturday night, Cardinal Country reports.
ANALYSIS
Daniels was knocked out of Stanford's game last week, but has since been cleared and is slated to get the start for the Cardinal. On the season, the gunslinger has tossed for 267 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while completing 62.8 percent of his passes.
Sep 12, 2023
Cleared to go for Week 3
Daniels (undisclosed) has been cleared to go for Stanford's game Saturday against Sacramento State, Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
It appears Daniels does not need to sit out any games because of the undisclosed problem he suffered last Saturday at USC. If available during Week 3, the quarterback has a favorable home game coming up against a non-FBS team. Unsurprisingly, Daniels shows much more promise against unranked teams. Before USC, the QB completed 69.4 percent of 36 passes he attempted and logged two touchdowns at Hawaii during Week 1.

Exits game with injury
Daniels (undisclosed) left Saturday's game against USC late in the first quarter, Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Daniels was shaken up after taking a sack late in the first quarter of Saturday's showdown with the Trojans. The sophomore quarterback was able to leave the field under his own power, but he did not re-take the field for Stanford's next drive. Daniels recorded 19 passing yards (2-of-7) and one interception prior to being replaced by Justin Lamson and it remains to be seen if the will retake the field against the Trojans.
Sep 1, 2023
Impressive in opener
Daniels was 25-for-36 passing for 248 yards and two touchdowns during Friday's 37-24 win against Hawaii. He also had 11 rushes for 42 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinal were projected to finish last in the Pac-12 this season, but new coach Troy Taylor seems deadset on silencing the critics. While leading the revamped offense, Daniels looked poised and confident throughout the contest and played well enough to stave off Appearances from Ari Patu and Justin Lamson, who were initially listed as co-starters. It seems apparent that Daniels will get the green light moving forward, although he'll face a stern task against the Trojans on the road next week.

Starts season opener
Daniels is on the field as the starting quarterback in Friday's game versus Hawai'i, Jackson Moore of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After being listed as a co-starter with Ari Patu and Justin Lamson, Daniels got the nod to take the first series of the game. It is currently unclear if the other two will see any playing time or if Daniels won the job outright.
Aug 16, 2023
Still competing for starting job
Daniels appears to be at the two spot but is still competing for the starting gig in Stanford's quarterback competition, Jackson Moore of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Daniels reportedly has been splitting first-team reps with Justin Lamson, although on some occasions Lamson takes all of the reps with the ones. It appears as though Lamson is running away with the job, but Daniels still has an outside shot to win the starting gig. The quarterback appeared in eight games for the Cardinal last year, completing five-of-six passes for 39 yards. He also complied 156 yards rushing and three scores on the ground.

Shares first-team reps
Daniels split first-team reps with Ari Patu on Wednesday, according to Jackson Moore of 247Sports.com.
ANALYSIS
Daniels, currently set to log his sophomore season of football in 2023, will compete against Patu for Stanford's QB1 role, vacated after former placeholder Tanner McKee turned pro. But considering both shared first-team reps Wednesday, there seems to be no favorite for said position at the moment.
