Braxton is working with the second unit ahead of Saturday's game versus North Texas, Cayden McFarland of KJRH TV reports.

Braxton was benched for a second time last week after some poor play, and it appears Kirk Francis has usurped him on the depth chart and will make the start Saturday for the Golden Hurricanes. Braxton could still see some snaps, especially if things go south for Francis, but he appears set to start the game on the bench.

Braxton was 3-for-6 passing for three yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 24-22 loss to Tulane.

Braxton once again started the game under center for the Golden Hurricane, but after throwing an interception on the first drive, Kirk Francis took over the offense for the rest of the game, outside of a few plays sprinkled in from Braxton. Unfortunately for Braxton, Francis played quite well and nearly pulled a massive upset over Tulane, which could mean the end of Braxton's chances to start or even be the third string when Cardell Williams returns.

Head coach Kevin Wilson indicated Tuesday during a press conference that Braxton could split snaps with quarterback Kirk Francis in Saturday's game against Tulane.

The news surfaced as Cardell Williams (shoulder) continues to work his way back from injury and is currently doubtful to play. Braxton was benched during last week's game after one drive, as he completed one of four passes for four yards.

Braxton was 1-for-4 passing for four yards during Saturday's 33-26 overtime defeat to Charlotte.

Braxton started Saturday's game but was replaced by Cardell Williams after the first drive. After the game, head coach Kevin Wilson indicated that the benching was performance-based and that he has not been throwing the ball well. It is unclear what this means for Braxton's future as the starting quarterback, especially since Williams was injured during the game. True-freshman Kirk Francis finished Saturday's game and did not play particularly well.

Braxton was 10-for-20 passing for 92 yards and two interceptions during Saturday's 69-10 loss against Southern Methodist. He also had 13 rushes for 11 yards.

Braxton played his most snaps of the season Saturday and it did not go well. He completed just 50 percent of his passes for less than 100 yards and threw two interceptions, including a pick-six. He was eventually benched while his team was down 63 points, and Cardell Williams came in and threw a touchdown pass. He faces a much easier matchup Saturday versus Charlotte, a defense which has given up nearly 350 yards per game this season.

Braxton completed 4 of 8 passes for 37 yards and one interception during Thursday's 42-10 loss versus Rice. He also had 12 rushes for 89 yards and a lost fumble.

Braxton started Thursday's game but split time once again with Cardell Williams. He had a nightmare start to the game throwing an interception on just the second offensive play Thursday. He only attempted eight passes, but he made up for it with 89 rushing yards, easily the most scrimmage yards on the team. He took 41 snaps compared to Williams 28, and the two played a few snaps together. It is unclear if the pair of quarterbacks will split time for the rest of the season, or if this is just the strategy until Braxton is fully healthy. That question will hopefully be answered next Saturday at SMU.

Braxton (ankle) was 3-for-8 passing for 67 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 20-17 defeat versus Florida Atlantic. He also had seven rushes for 47 yards.

Cardell Williams has been handling the majority of the first-team reps of late, but he lifted after tossing two interceptions while completing just 10 of his 20 passing attempts. Braxton didn't look very good, either, and it's a coin toss to see who will start under center next week against Rice.

Braxton has his ankles heavily taped and hasn't been taking first team reps ahead of Thursday's game against Temple, Dan Lindblad of 2 News Oklahoma reports.

Cardale Williams is instead handling the majority of first team reps, indicating that Braxton isn't likely to play against Temple. Braxton hasn't played since injuring his ankle in Week 1, and his next chance to do so will come Oct. 7 against Florida Atlantic.

Braxton played just eight snaps in Week 1 before injuring his ankle, and there's no precise date for his return. However, the fact that he was limited in practice earlier this week suggests he might be progressing slowly with his recovery. His next chance to feature will come against Temple on Thursday.

Wilson also stated that even if Braxton is healthy, he expects to use both Cardell Williams and Braxton in the contest, and he briefly referenced that the team has designed packages to have both on the field at the same time.

It was not the ideal debut the third-year man, who was expected to star as the Hurricanes' starting quarterback in 2023 after redshirting as a freshman and starting only three games last season. He was replaced by true freshman Cardell Williams, who figures to step in as the team's new QB1 if Braxton's ankle injury keeps him sidelined.

Braxton intended to transfer but has since decided to return to Tulsa and compete for a starting spot during the 2023 campaign. In his first season, he competed 56.4 percent of his passes for 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 145 rushing yards and five more scores on the ground.

Braxton will have three more seasons of eligibility, as he redshirted his true freshman year. Braxton completed 92-of-163 passes for 1,133 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions to go along with 55 carries for 145 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in nine games this season.

Braxton completed 25 of 43 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 11 times for 51 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 37-30 win at Houston.

Braxton put together his best performance of the season Saturday, setting season highs in completions, passing yards, passing touchdowns and rushing yards. The freshman had a combined four touchdowns at Houston to give the Golden Hurricane the upset win and a solid end to the season. At the moment it seems as if Braxton should start next season, but a lot can happen between now and next September.

Braxton completed 20 of 27 passes for 302 yards and a touchdown and rushed eight times for 20 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 48-42 win over USF.

Braxton was quite efficient in his second career start, completing nearly 75 percent of his passes after being below 60 percent the past three weeks. Braxton threw one touchdown, but his best production came on the ground with two short rushing touchdowns. The redshirt freshman has come into his own after taking over from Davis Brin, throwing five touchdowns and no interceptions in the past four games. Next Saturday's regular season finale versus Houston will give Braxton a good chance to produce again, as the Cougars' defense allow nearly 450 yards per game.

Braxton completed 12-of-24 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown after Davis Brin was benched in Thursday's loss to Memphis.

Braxton received his first career start in Week 10 after Brin was unable to go due to a shoulder injury and posted similar results to Thursday's outing. He wasn't particularly accurate and was very conservative with his throws. He has not turned the ball over, however, and has accounted for five total touchdowns over his last three games. The Hurricanes have lost six of seven and could potentially give Braxton some more looks given the struggles Brin has shown over an extended period of time.

Braxton completed 13 of 25 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown, adding 13 carries for 32 yards in Saturday's 27-13 loss to Tulane.

With starting quarterback Davis Brin (shoulder) unable to go Saturday, Braxton was thrust into the starting spot. Braxton threw for just 146 yards, completing 52 percent of his passes. He wasn't much more efficient in the running game, gaining just 2.5 yards per carry on 13 rushes. In fairness to the freshman, playing Tulane in his first collegiate start is not an ideal situation. If Brin is still unable to go next Thursday at Memphis, Braxton will face a much easier passing defense.

Braxton completed eight of 14 passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns (one rushing) in Saturday's 45-34 loss to SMU.

Starting quarterback Davis Brin (shoulder) left the game in the third quarter, and Braxton filled in well. He threw two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, adding another on the ground before Brin left the game. The severity of Brin's injury is unclear at the moment, but Braxton proved Saturday that if Brin misses time he can fill in well.
