Will enter transfer portal
Burks will enter the transfer portal, according to his announcement Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Burks broke out during 2023, finishing the year with 47 receptions for 629 yards (13.4 averaged per catch) and seven touchdowns across his 12 games. He will look to take advantage of his stock being at an all-time high by considering enrollments to other schools.

Quiet day in loss
Burks logged four receptions (on five targets) for 13 yards during Saturday's 23-15 defeat versus Northwestern.
ANALYSIS
Burks was held in check throughout the day by the Northwestern defense, logging a long reception of just six yards. The Boilermakers' leading receiver had scored in three of his previous four games and will hope to get things back on track in Purdue's season finale against rival Indiana.

Scores in victory
Burks posted four receptions (on seven targets) for 60 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 49-30 win against Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Burks connected with quarterback Hudson Card on a 42-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter, putting the Boilermakers up two scores. The redshirt sophomore receiver has now found the end zone in back-to-back games for Purdue, and Burks will be hoping to extend this streak against Northwestern on Saturday.

Finds end zone in loss
Burks posted three receptions (on eight targets) for 43 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 41-13 loss versus Michigan.
ANALYSIS
Burks managed to salvage his day with a last-minute score as he hauled in a 24-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Hudson Card with 18 seconds left in regulation. After a hot start to the season, Burks has now failed to reach the 50 yard mark in four consecutive games. The sophomore receiver will hope to turn things around against Minnesota on Saturday.

Logs season low in yards
Burks totaled two receptions (on five targets) for eight yards during Saturday's 31-14 loss against Nebraska.
ANALYSIS
Burks saw his receiving yardage fall below 20 yards for just the third time this season. The redshirt sophomore wideout started off the season extremely hot, tallying 20 receptions for 377 yards through the first five games of the year. But, his production has slowed down considerable as the Boilermakers' offense has stumbled over the last three games, catching nine of 21 targets for 49 yards and one touchdown. Burks and Purdue will look to bounce back Week 10 while facing Michigan's dominant defense in Ann Arbor.

Logs another TD in loss
Burks caught three of eight targets for 22 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 41-7 defeat against Ohio State.
ANALYSIS
Burks didn't have his most outstanding statistical performance, which was to be expected given the Boilermakers' stark deficiencies compared to the talent of Ohio State. However, he did log his fifth touchdown reception of the season despite playing far fewer snaps than he usually does. Burks has now logged 27 catches (on 57 targets) for 418 yards through seven games this season. He should continue to serve as Purdue's most explosive playmaker when the team next takes the field Saturday, Oct. 28 at Nebraska.

Grabs just four passes Saturday
Burks gathered in four of eight targets for 19 yards during Saturday's 20-14 loss against Iowa.
ANALYSIS
Burks recorded fewer than 50 receiving yards for just the second time in six games, as he connected on just half of his passes from quarterback Hudson Card (25-for-40 passing). The redshirt sophomore slot receiver still logged at least eight targets for the fifth time this season, and he finished tied with tight end Garrett Miller for the team's second-most targets behind wideout TJ Sheffield (nine) in Week 6. Burks has now recorded 24 receptions (on 49 targets) for 396 yards and four touchdowns this season, and he should remain one of Purdue's top wideouts alongside Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen (25 receptions, 41 targets, 329 yards) and TJ Sheffield (24 receptions, 32 targets, 284 yards) moving forward.

Scored touchdown No. 4 this season
Burks had five receptions (on eight targets) for 83 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 44-19 victory against Illinois.
ANALYSIS
Burks capped off a dominant third-quarter performance from Purdue's offense, taking a push pass 10 yards around the right edge of Illinois' defense for a touchdown to put the Boilermakers up 37-13. The 5-foot-11 wideout has been used as a versatile slot receiver and overall playmaker for Purdue this season, totaling 20 receptions (on 41 targets) for 377 yards for four touchdowns. Burks and wideout-turned-running-back Tyrone Tracy have been Purdue's two best playmakers so far this season, and it's likely the team will try to find creative ways to get them involved against Iowa's impressive defense Week 6.

Leading wideout again in loss
Burks caught six of 12 targets for 73 yards during Friday's 38-17 loss to Wisconsin.
ANALYSIS
Burks tallied team high in receptions, targets and receiving yards during Purdue's Big Ten opener. The 5-foot-11 speedster found some success on yards after the catch, though he never managed to break a play longer than 16 yards. Burks also got open for a would-be conversion on fourth down late in the game, but quarterback Hudson Card had pressure in his face that led his pass to fall left and short of Burks. The redshirt sophomore wideout has now totaled 33 targets through the first four games of the season, and it appears he might be the Boilermakers' most explosive receiving threat ahead of wideouts Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen and TJ Sheffield, who have logged 33 and 20 targets so far this season, respectively.

Eight targets Week 3
Burks caught four of eight targets for 51 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 35-20 defeat to Syracuse.
ANALYSIS
Burks finished with the Boilermakers' second-most targets behind 6-foot-2 wideout Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen (14). The 5-foot-11 redshirt junior also logged Purdue's lone receiving touchdown with a two-yard score during the second quarter. Burks has yet to live up to his massive outing from Week 1 against Fresno State, though he's still averaged 21 targets per game through the first three weeks of the season, and his explosive playmaking ability makes him a big-play threat whenever he touches the ball.
Sep 4, 2023
Explosive performance Week 1
Burks logged four receptions (on nine targets) for 152 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 39-35 loss to Fresno State.
ANALYSIS
Burks played a starring role in Purdue's new offense under coordinator Graham Harrell, tallying a team high in targets and receiving yards. He also drew two pass-interference penalties from Fresno State's cornerbacks, so his final stat line could have been even better. The 5-foot-11 junior demonstrated impressive yards-after-catch ability and breakaway speed when he took a short pass for an 84-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Burks wound up catching both passing touchdowns from new starting quarterback Hudson Card (17-for-30 passing, 254 yards). Burks caught just 15 passes while playing all 14 games for Purdue last season, and he's already surpassed his 2022 receiving total (149). This impressive start to the 2023 campaign should generate significant optimism for his production heading into the Week 2 road matchup versus Virginia Tech.

Released from hospital after injury
Burks was carted off the field and taken to a local hospital after suffering a neck injury during Monday's loss to LSU in the Citrus Bowl, Casey Bartley of Rivals reports.
ANALYSIS
Burks hit his head hard on the turf late in the fourth quarter. He was then stabilized on a stretcher as a precautionary measure for a potential spinal injury, as Purdue coach Brian Brohm said that the wideout had "some tenderness in the neck area," according to Tom Dienhart of On3.com. Burks was then taken to a local hospital where all medical scans came back negative for any structural damage, and he was discharged later that same day. It will be worth monitoring his status for further updates heading into spring camp.

Three grabs at Wisconsin
Burks (undisclosed) has 12 catches for 134 yards on 17 targets this season.
ANALYSIS
Burks was nicked up late in the win over Maryland but has been available for each game. He's coming off a three-catch performance on three targets against Wisconsin. Purdue returns to action Week 10 against Iowa.

Helped off the field
Burks (undisclosed) was helped off the field after Purdue returned a kickoff, Mike Carmin of Lafayette Journal & Courier reports.
ANALYSIS
Burks was assisted off the field after Maryland kicked off with 14 seconds left in the first half. The redshirt freshman wideout has primarily had a role on special teams, but he has hauled in nine receptions for 104 yards as well on the season. It is unclear if Burks will be able to retake the field in the second half.

May get some looks in slot
Burks might get some playing time as a slot receiver in Thursday's bowl game against Tennessee, Mike Carmin of Lafayette Journal & Courier reports.
ANALYSIS
Burks may be called upon as a freshman to step up with receivers David Bell and Milton Wright not available. It may go a long way to helping him get more action in 2022.
