Tallies three touchdowns in loss
Wimsatt completed 13 of 34 passes for 165 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 42-24 loss against Maryland. He also had 16 rushes for 48 yards with two touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
The Scarlet Knights fell into an hole early, as the Terrapins put up 28 points in the first 18 minutes of the game. Wimsatt responded with back-to-back touchdowns in the second quarter, finding running back Aaron Young through the air for a 10-yard score followed by a one-yard rushing score to bring the score to 28-17. The junior dual-threat quarterback wound up recording his second-most passing attempts this season, though he completed a season-low 38.2 percent of his passes. Wimsatt also logged over 13 rushing attempts for the fourth time in the last five games. He'll likely need to make an impact through the air and on the ground in order for Rutgers to come away with a win in its upcoming bowl game.

Coughs up three turnovers in loss
Wimsatt completed 10 of 16 passes for 130 yards and one interception during Saturday's 27-6 defeat versus Penn State. He also had 17 rushes for 31 yards and two fumbles.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt recorded his second multi-turnover game of the season, including his first two fumbles lost of the year. The 6-foot-3 junior was also ineffective as a rusher for the third week in a row, as he's just 2.4 yards per attempt across these contests against three extremely difficult opposing defenses. Wimsatt totaled 14 touchdowns, 1,134 passing yards and 362 passing yards over the first eight games of the season. He'll look to turn things back around during this coming Saturday's regular-season finale against Maryland.
Nov 15, 2023
Capped by Iowa defense
Wimsatt was 7-for-18 passing for 93 yards and one interception during Saturday's 22-0 loss to Iowa.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt logged his least productive outing of the season while facing Iowa's defense, which has been one of the best units in not only the Big Ten but all of FBS. The Scarlet Knights' signal-caller was also held below 100 yards of total offense for the first time this season, as the Hawkeyes shut down the Rutgers rushing game that has carried this offense throughout the year. Wimsatt averaged 140.3 passing yards and 45.7 rushing yards per game while totaling 15 touchdowns over the first nine games of the year. Yet, his production could take quite a hit once again while facing another one of the country's best defenses in Penn State this coming Saturday.

Can't do enough in loss
Wimsatt completed 10 of 25 passes for 129 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 35-16 defeat to Ohio State. He also had 13 rushes for 49 yards.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt once again struggled as a passer in Week 10, completing less than 50 percent of his passes for the fourth game in a row. The 6-foot-3 dual-threat quarterback has largely made up for his deficiencies as a passer with his legs, and that once again proved true against Ohio State, as he logged his second-most rushing attempts of any game so far this season. Yet, Wimsatt didn't have his most efficient performance on the ground either. Rutgers' schedule over the next two weeks will not get any easier, as back-to-back road matchups against Iowa followed by Penn State could be one of the toughest slates of opposing defenses as any team in the country.

Rushes for three touchdowns
Wimsatt was 5-for-12 passing for 39 yards during Saturday's 31-14 win versus Indiana. He also had 16 rushes for 143 yards with three touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt had his biggest statistical performance of the season, as the Rutgers' rushing game had its way with Indiana's defense. The junior dual-threat quarterback led this rushing attack with season highs in carries and rushing yards, and he also tallied all three of the rushing touchdowns for the Scarlet Knights. Wimsatt's season low in passing attempts is an indication of how Rutgers most prefers to operate its run-first offense with the 6-foot-3 junior. This unit will face a significantly tougher opponent against Ohio State in Week 9.

Hits crucial late game TD
Wimsatt completed 13 of 28 passes for 181 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions during Saturday's 27-24 win versus Michigan State. He also had seven rushes for -11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt helped the Scarlet Knights pull off a 24-6 fourth-quarter comeback, hitting wideout Isaiah Washington on a four-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 24-21. The junior dual-threat quarterback once again logged an ugly completion percentage, as he has now completed 50.9 percent of his 169 attempts this season for seven touchdowns to four interceptions. With 57 carries for 219 yards and four touchdowns, Wimsatt's production both on the ground and through the air should continue to make him a reliable back-end starter in multi-QB fantasy formats.

Throws pick-six in road loss
Wimsatt was 16-for-35 passing for 181 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 24-13 loss versus Wisconsin. He also had nine rushes for 43 yards.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt was confronted by a hounding Badgers defense during this road loss for the Scarlet Knights. The junior signal-caller was close to scoring his first passing touchdown of the game when Rutgers marched down to the five-yard line late in the first half. But, he threw a slightly errant pass that was intercepted and returned for a pick-six by Wisconsin cornerback Ricardo Hallman. Wimsatt temporarily exited with an injury during the third quarter, allowing backup Evan Simon to enter the game and throw a 10-yard touchdown to running back Aaron Young. Wimsatt eventually returned before the end of the game and tossed an 11-yard touchdown pass to wideout Ian Strong in the final minutes.

Totals three touchdowns Week 5
Wimsatt completed 12 of 19 passes for 146 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 52-3 victory against Wagner. He also had seven rushes for 15 yards with two touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt set season highs in both passing yards and rushing touchdowns as the Scarlet Knights ripped through FCS opponent Wagner. The junior signal-caller also logged exactly one passing touchdown for the fifth game in a row, and he's now totaled four rushing scores so far this season. Wimsatt has also done a very good job of avoiding turnovers with his lone giveaway coming off an intercepted screen pass versus Michigan in Week 4. The junior dual-threat will have his work cut out for him during this Saturday's road matchup against Wisconsin.
Sep 27, 2023
Tosses early TD in loss
Wimsatt was 11-for-21 passing for 180 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 31-7 loss against Michigan. He also had six rushes for 28 yards.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt started out the game about as good as one could hope, finding wideout Christian Dremel deep downfield for a 69-yard touchdown on the third play from scrimmage. Things dried up from there however, as the Wolverines defense buckled down for the rest of the game. Wimsatt also committed a pick-six when Michigan cornerback Mike Sainristil took a wide-receiver screen pass to the house to put the Wolverines up 24-7 late in the third quarter. Wimsatt's shown encouraging growth so far this season, though, after the Week 5 contest against Wagner, the Scarlet Knights' schedule will pose some significant obstacles for Wimsatt's production moving forward - though the three-game slate against Wisconsin, Michigan State and Indiana is not nearly as imposing as the back-end.

Logs two TDs in win
Wimsatt was 7-for-16 passing for 46 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 35-16 victory against Virginia Tech. He also had 11 rushes for 87 yards with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt once again made his biggest impact as a rusher rather than a passer for the Scarlet Knights. The 6-foot-3 junior has completed just 51.5 percent of his passes for three touchdowns through three weeks, though he's added 144 rushing yards and two more scores on 28 carries. Wimsatt's dual-threat value will certainly be put to the test when Rutgers heads on the road against a dominant Michigan squad this coming Saturday.

Lower efficiency Week 2
Wimsatt was 10-for-21 passing for 198 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 36-7 win over Temple. He also had eight rushes for 24 yards.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt followed up his impressive season opener with a much more up-and-down outing against Temple. The junior signal-caller saw his efficiency drop, though he did nearly double his yards per attempt with 9.4 in Week 2 compared to 5.6 in Week 1. Wimsatt completed just 45.1 percent of his 144 passing attempts while splitting snaps at quarterback last year, and it appears he still hasn't completely cleaned up this issue to begin his junior season. The Week 3 contest against Virginia Tech should provide more data on how efficient Wimsatt could be moving forward this season.

Shows improvement Week 1
Wimsatt completed 17 of 29 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 24-7 victory over Northwestern. He also had nine rushes for 33 yards with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt looks like he's developed this offseason, showing much greater command of the Scarlet Knights' offense compared to his 2022 true sophomore campaign, when he completed just 45.1 percent of his passes over eight appearances. The 6-foot-3 signal-caller also continued to show his value as a rusher, scoring a 6-yard rushing score early in the second quarter. Wimsatt's Week 1 performance is encouraging, though he'll face an extremely difficult 2023 schedule, which includes matchups against Big Ten West foes Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana.

Named starter ahead of camp
Wimsatt was named Rutgers' starting quarterback ahead of training camp, according to nj.com.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt and Evan Simon were the options to be Rutgers' No. 1 quarterback, and it will be the former receiving that honor once again. He logged 820 all-purpose yards (757 passing and 63 rushing), five touchdowns and seven interceptions across his eight games during 2022. Should turnovers continue to be a problem in 2023, primary QB duties could be turned to Simon, though he also had trouble mitigating them last year.

Blanked in season finale
Wimsatt completed five of 13 passes for 48 yards during Saturday's 37-0 defeat to Maryland. He also rushed four times for a negative-13 net yards.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt notched his fewest total yards of the season since going out early with an injury Week 3, as the Scarlet Knights' offense went three and out on six of 11 drives with Wimsatt in the game. The dual-threat quarterback was also sacked twice before he was replaced by Evan Simon early in the fourth quarter. After splitting quarterback duties for much of the season, Wimsatt started each of the last five games for Rutgers, going 55-for-122 passing for 640 yards and a 4:5 TD:INT ratio. He'll likely compete with Simon for this starting job heading into next season.
Nov 24, 2022
Succumbs to dominant defense
Wimsatt was 10-for-29 passing for 122 yards, one touchdown and one interception during the Scarlet Knights' 55-10 loss versus Penn State on Nov. 19. He also had seven rushes for -13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt helped keep things competitive in the first quarter, putting the Scarlet Knights up 10-7 with a four-yard touchdown pass to Shameen Jones nine minutes into the game. However, there wasn't much he could do to overcome the Nittany Lions' relentless defense, which logged two scoop-and-score touchdowns and allowed just 32 rushing yards on 35 Rutgers. Wimsatt's lack of tried-and-true offensive weapons don't figure to net him much more overall production during the Scarlet Knights' regular-season finale versus Maryland.
Nov 16, 2022
Season-best performance in loss
Wimsatt completed 20 of 34 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 27-21 defeat versus Michigan State. He also had eight rushes for negative eight yards.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt logged his best passing performance of the season against the Spartans' leaky passing defense. This included the dual-threat quarterback his first multi-passing-touchdown performance of the season, completing an 18-yard pass to Aaron Young in the second quarter followed by a highlight-worthy 31-yard touchdown reception by wide receiver Shameen Jones with under one minute remaining. Wimsatt will have a much tougher go of things this coming Saturday against Penn State.
Nov 8, 2022
Tosses three picks in loss
Wimsatt completed 14 of 29 passes for 166 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions during Saturday's 52-17 loss versus Michigan.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt returned to his role as the Scarlet Knights' lone signal-caller after being forced out with an undisclosed injury against Minnesota last week. The dual-threat sophomore performed well enough in the first half, and he tossed a three-yard touchdown pass to wideout Sean Ryan to put Rutgers up 17-14 near the end of the second quarter. However, Wimsatt quickly fell apart with back-to-back interceptions to linebacker Michael Barrett to end his team's second and third offensive drives of the third quarter. Wimsatt also failed to net positive rushing yardage for the first time this season, and he'll look to turn things around against Michigan State's poor pass defense this coming Saturday.
Oct 29, 2022
Forced out Saturday
Wimsatt exited Saturday's game against Minnesota with an undisclosed injury, Ryan Burns of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt was evaluated on the field for some time after taking a hard hit in the first half, though he was eventually able to walk off with members of the team's medical staff, per Burns. The sophomore has been sidelined since Week 3 with an undisclosed injury, though he made his first solo start of the season in Saturday's contest, completing six of his 17 passes for 68 yards and an interception before coming out. With Wimsatt out, expect Noah Vedral, who started last week's win over Indiana, to step back in under center for Rutgers.
Oct 29, 2022
Gets start against Gophers
Wimsatt will start Saturday against Minnesota, Chris Iseman of the Asbury Park Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Rutgers' revolving door at quarterback makes another turn Saturday with Wimsatt getting the nod over Noah Vedral and Evan Simon. Wimsatt's mobility could be a factor with running back Sam Brown ruled out for the season.
Oct 7, 2022
Likely out Friday
Wimsatt (lower body) is unlikely to see any playing time in Friday's game versus Nebraska, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt has completed 10-of-23 passes for 117 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in three games this season. However, with Noah Vedral returning and Wimsatt still recovering from injury, he is doubtful Friday.
Oct 1, 2022
Out Saturday
Wimsatt (undisclosed) will not dress in uniform for Saturday's game versus Ohio State, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt has completed 10-of-23 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns this season. The sophomore quarterback also missed last week's game versus Iowa due to an undisclosed injury.
Sep 19, 2022
Game-time decision in Week 4
Rutgers coach Greg Schiano said that Wimsatt (undisclosed) is considered a game-time decision heading for Saturday's game against Iowa, Chris Iseman of the Asbury Park Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt appears to have picked up an unspecified injury at some point during the Scarlet Knights' 16-14 win against Temple this past Saturday. The sophomore signal-caller completed one of his two passes for seven yards and recorded four rushes on two carries before going down with this apparent injury. Schiano did not elaborate on the nature of Wimsatt's health issue, though it should likely not be considered serious given his possible availability to play just one week later. If the 6-foot-3 dual threat is ultimately unable to suit up Saturday, then Evan Simon should take over Rutgers' exclusive option under center versus the Hawkeyes.
Sep 13, 2022
Productive in dual role
Wimsatt completed four of his 11 passes for 63 yards and a 1:1 TD:INT ratio while adding 62 yards on six carries during Rutgers' 66-7 win against Wagner on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt continued to split quarterback duties with fellow sophomore Evan Simon (10-of-13 passing, 156 yards, two touchdowns) on Saturday. However, the Scarlet Knights' offense leaned much more heavily into the rushing game against Wagner with 54 total carries for 328 yards compared to 25 total passing attempts for 257 yards. While the majority of Wimsatt's passing production came via one 41-yard touchdown completion to sophomore wideout Chris Long in the first quarter, the dual-threat quarterback should continue to provide an additional rushing element under center for Rutgers' offense moving forward this season.
Sep 5, 2022
Shares quarterback duties Week 1
Wimsatt completed five of his nine passes for 47 yards and one interception to go along with five rushes for 40 yards during Saturday's 22-21 win versus Boston College.
ANALYSIS
Wimsatt split snaps with fellow sophomore signal-caller Evan Simon while returning starter Noah Vedral (undisclosed) sat out Saturday's season-opener. The second-year quarterbacks would likely continue to rotate under center for the Scarlet Knights should Vedral miss time moving forward this season.
