Could have serious injury
Garcia-Castaneda suffered an undisclosed injury during Nebraska's season opener against Minnesota on Thursday, Mitch Sherman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to going down with the injury, Garcia-Castaneda pulled down one catch for seven yards. Following the contest, coach Matt Rhule said the injury looked to possibly be serious, putting Garcia-Castaneda's status up in the air for next Saturday's game against Colorado and potentially the following weeks. If he ends up missing time, expect Alex Bullock and Marcus Washington to see more action.

Converts on multiple big plays
Garcia-Castaneda recorded four receptions (seven targets) for 120 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's season-opening 31-28 loss to Northwestern.
ANALYSIS
Garcia Castaneda's game was characterized by multiple highlight-worthy plays contrasted with costly errors. After catching a 32-yard touchdown pass on the opening drive of the game, the junior fumbled in the red zone following a 24-yard completion in the second quarter. Garcia-Castaneda made up for this mistake with the game's longest play from scrimmage on a 58-yard catch from quarterback Casey Thompson during a broken play in the third quarter. If he can remove these lowlight plays, the 6-foot wideout could continue to slot in as a big-play threat in Nebraska's offense while presumptive No. 1 receiver Omar Manning (undisclosed) is sidelined for an unknown length of time.

Likely out for Saturday
Garcia-Castaneda didn't play in Saturday's game against San Diego State due to being in the COVID-19 protocol and is unlikely to be ready in time for Week 3 versus in-state rival New Mexico, Jason Groves of the LAs Cruces Sun-News reports.
ANALYSIS
Garcia-Castaneda was targeted eight times in the season opener but was unable to follow that up last week. While he will reportedly clear COVID protocol by Friday, it doesn't sound like he will play due to his absence from practice the last two weeks. A return Sept. 18 versus South Carolina State seems more likely.
