Splitting practice snaps under center
Sims split reps with Chubba Purdy (undisclosed) under center during practice Tuesday, Mitch Sherman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims entered the game Saturday after Heinrich Haarberg (ankle) departed with injury, but he performed poorly and was eventually replaced by Purdy. It sounds as though there are a lot of questions about who will be available to play next week, but Purdy seems to be ahead of Haarberg on the injury front, though Haarberg reportedly got in a limited session as well.

Fumbles on only opportunity Week 9
Sims did not attempt a pass and netted zero yards and a fumble on two rushing attempts during Saturday's 31-14 victory over Purdue.
ANALYSIS
Sims was inserted after new starting quarterback Heinrich Haarberg fumbled on two separate drives in the second half. This resulted in the Cornhuskers turning toward Sims, who opened the season as the team's QB1. However, the junior quarterback dropped the ball on his first play in the game, leading the team to move him back to bench for the remainder of the game. Expect Sims to continue slotting in as QB2 moving forward this season.

Set for backup duties again
Sims won't start Friday's game against Illinois, Luke Mullin of the Lincoln Journal Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Heinrich Haarberg was seen working with the projected starters, so Sims is expected to be the backup in this one. That has also been the case in Nebraska's previous three games. Sims has completed 58.8 percent of his passes (20-for-34) for 220 yards, one score and four interceptions in his three appearances in 2023.

Progressing in recovery
Nebraska offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield said Tuesday that Sims (ankle) is getting close to being 100 percent healthy, Grant Grubbs of On3.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims hasn't attempted a pass since Week 2 but continues to get healthier. If he's unable to play in Friday's contest against Illinois, Heinrich Haarberg should continue to be Nebraska's starting quarterback.
Oct 1, 2023
Doesn't play Saturday
Sims (ankle) did not play in Saturday's 45-7 loss to Michigan.
ANALYSIS
While Sims did dress for the game, he didn't see any action in the loss. Heinrich Haarberg was announced as the starter before the contest, though it was believed that Sims would eventually work into the quarterback rotation. Nebraska's quarterback room will be worth monitoring prior to next week's game against Illinois.
Sep 30, 2023
Not on Saturday's injury report
Sims (ankle) is not listed on Nebraska's injury report prior to Saturday's game against Michigan.
ANALYSIS
While it was perviously announced that Heinrich Haarberg would get the start, it looks like Sims will suit up and could potentially get some snaps against Michigan. The junior quarterback has thrown for 220 yards, a touchdown and four interceptions so far this season after transferring from Georgia Tech.
Sep 30, 2023
Won't start Saturday
Sims (ankle) won't start Saturday's game versus Michigan, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims is still bothered by an ankle issue, and head coach Matt Rhule indicated Thursday that he's still not 100 percent. Even so, Rhule suggested that Sims could split reps under center with Heinrich Haarberg, which could potentially still be the case. The availability report released two hours ahead of the game should be more telling about Sims' status.
Sep 28, 2023
Could split reps Saturday
Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said Thursday that Sims (ankle) isn't 100% healthy but could play in Saturday's game against Michigan, Adam Krueger of KMTV 3 News Now reports.

Sep 26, 2023
Gets some reps Tuesday
Sims (ankle) took reps during practice Tuesday but remains at less than 100 percent, Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims may reclaim the starting role when healthy, but Heinrich Haarberg has started the last two games and could make another Saturday with Sims operating at less than 100 percent. More information on that front should surface as the week progresses.
Sep 25, 2023
Still battling ankle
Coach Matt Rhule said that Sims continues to battle the ankle injury that has cost him to miss the last two games, Amie Just of the Lincoln Journal Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Heinrich Haarberg is battling an injury of his own this week and the team will see how both quarterbacks fair in practice. Sims may still need another week to recover from the ankle injury and at this time it seems Haarberg is the more likely man to start a big home game against Michigan.
Sep 23, 2023
Remains sidelined Saturday
Sims (ankle) will not start against Louisiana Tech this Saturday, Mitch Sherman of The Athletic reports.

Sep 18, 2023
Misses practice on Sunday
Sims (ankle) did not practice on Sunday, Brian Christopherson of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims did not play in the win against NIU last week due to an ankle injury. Sims isn't the best passer in the world, but it is his legs that makes him an effective player. This ankle injury is certainly hindering that and it's unclear if he will be ready to go in time for Saturday's game against Louisiana Tech. The team could give Heinrich Haarberg another start and let Sims wait until Sept. 30 when the Huskers host Michigan.
Sep 17, 2023
Doesn't play against NIU
Sims (ankle) didn't play Saturday against NIU.
ANALYSIS
Sims was slated to play as a backup behind Heinrich Haarberg due to a nagging ankle injury, but in the end, he didn't even play, as Haarberg led the Cornhuskers to a 35-11 win after completing 14 of 24 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing 21 times for 98 yards and another score. This was undoubtedly a promising performance from Haarberg, but Sims should be able to return under center when fully healthy. His next chance to play will come against Louisiana Tech next Saturday.
Sep 16, 2023
Slated for backup role
Sims appears slated ready to backup Hienrich Haarberg as Nebraska takes on NIU on Saturday, per Evan Bland of the Omaha World-Herald.

Sep 16, 2023
Spotted warming up
Sims was seen warming up ahead of Nebraska's game against NIU, Amie Just of the Lincoln Journal Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims was officially listed as questionable heading into Saturday night's game. It's a good sign that he's throwing the ball in warmups, as it means he'll likely try to give it a go come game time.
Sep 16, 2023
Officially listed as questionable
Sims is listed as questionable for the Huskers' matchup with NIU on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been dealing with an ankle injury that's kept his status uncertain all week. As kickoff draws nearer, it's still unclear if the quarterback will be ready to go for the Huskers' third game. Sims has struggled through two contests, throwing for 220 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. If the quarterback can't go, Heinrich Haarberg would likely step into a starting role.
Sep 14, 2023
Status progressing but uncertain
Nebraska's head coach said Matt Rhule said Sims (ankle) is "progressing" but has his availability status uncertain for Week 3, Evan Bland of the Omaha World-Herald reports.

Sep 10, 2023
Reportedly suffers ankle injury
Nebraska's head coach Matt Rhule announced Saturday that Sims has a high ankle sprain, Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims' reported sprain may explain why he sat out the Nebraska-Colorado game's second half. For now, his availability status is questionable as the Cornhuskers and their starting quarterback prepare for Sept. 16, when they are scheduled to host Northern Illinois.
Sep 1, 2023
Throws three picks in debut
Sims completed 11 of 19 passes for 114 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions during Thursday's 13-10 defeat versus Minnesota. He also had 19 rushes for 91 yards.
ANALYSIS
Sims' passing performance during his Nebraska debut was far from clean, as he looked off-rhythm in the pocket for much of the game. The Georgia Tech transfer's only passing touchdown came on a nearly-botched double-pass where he was able to hit a wide-open receiver in the endzone. He also threw a back-breaking interception with just under one minute remaining, which set up Minnesota to kick a walk-off field goal as time expired. Sims did help carry the Cornhuskers' rushing game, leading the team in both rushing attempts and carries ahead of running backs Gabe Ervin (seven rushes, 55 yards) and Anthony Grant (nine rushes, 27 yards). The 6-foot-4 dual-threat quarterback will look to bounce back from this rough debut next week versus Colorado.
Dec 18, 2022

He'll figure to be in QB competition mix next fall along with Casey Thompson and Chubba Purdy (ankle).
Nov 27, 2022
Enters transfer portal
Sims (foot) will enter the transfer portal, Max Olson of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims hasn't played since October after suffering a sprained foot, and a transfer was to be expected heading into the 2023 season. He should have plenty of options after a season in which he completed 58.5 percent of his passes for 1,115 yards to go along with five scores and three interceptions.
Nov 15, 2022
Shut down due to injury
Coach Brent Key said Tuesday that Sims (undisclosed) will be away from the team indefinitely while he focuses on rehab, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been dealing with a foot injury but was considered available in emergency situations. However, he'll now likely be shut down for the remainder of the campaign, but it's unclear if he suffered a new injury or is still dealing with the foot issue. Regardless, Zach Pyron figures to continue drawing starts in Sims' absence.
Nov 12, 2022
Available as emergency option
Sims (foot) will be available on an emergency basis for Saturday's game against Miami, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Nov 8, 2022
Did not play Saturday
Sims (foot) did not play in Saturday's 28-27 win over Virginia Tech.
ANALYSIS
After being a full participant in practice this week, Sims ultimately did not play. It is likely that Sims was held out as a precaution. If Sims is able to continue practicing at full speed, his return for Saturday's game against Miami-FL is probable.
Nov 5, 2022
Does not warm up
Sims (foot) did not warm up for Saturday's game against Virginia Tech, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS

Oct 29, 2022
Emergency-only option Saturday
Sims (foot) is considered an emergency option for Saturday's game against Florida State, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Yellow Jackets are sizable underdogs in this contest either way, but the expected absence of Sims makes this an even tougher one for the team. However, Sims hasn't been particularly impressive either, so his absence shouldn't mean much from a fantasy perspective. Look for Zach Gibson to get the start in his place.
Oct 29, 2022
Missing from warmups
Sims (foot) is not warming up ahead of Saturday's game against Florida State, Curt Weiler of the Tallahassee Democrat reports.
ANALYSIS
Zach Gibson is likely to take over as the starter if Sims is out, which appears to be the case. Sims has been dealing with a foot injury suffered in Week 8 and was considered a game-time decision entering Saturday.
Oct 29, 2022
Game-time decision Saturday
Sims (foot) is a game-time decision Saturday against Florida State, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS

Oct 25, 2022
Suffers sprained foot
Sims suffered a sprained foot in last week's game against Virginia and is considered day-to-day, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's important to note that this is a different injury than what Sims suffered in Week 6 against Duke. We'll have to wait and see how the sophomore progresses throughout the week before we know his availability for Saturday's game against Florida State.
Oct 20, 2022
Seen in street clothes
Sims (undisclosed) was seen on the sidelines without pads after suffering an apparent injury early in the second quarter Thursday against Virginia, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear what exactly is bothering Sims, and it's a possibility he could have reaggravated the injury he suffered in Week 6. Sims did not play well before the injury, completing just 6-of-11 passes for 47 yards and an interception. Zach Gibson has replaced him in the game and figures to lead the offense the rest of the night.
Oct 20, 2022
Expected to suit up
Sims is expected to start Thursday versus Virginia, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
After suffering an injury in an overtime win against Duke, Sims has been progressing nicely; where he's expected to return against the Cavaliers. The junior has had a productive season thus far, throwing for 1,068 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. Expect him to come firing out the gate against Virginia's secondary if he suits up.
Oct 18, 2022
Week 8 availability in jeopardy
Coach Brent Key said Monday that Sims (undisclosed) is labeled as day-to-day ahead of Thursday's game against Virginia, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims' availability for Thursday's contest against the Cavaliers appears up in the air, after he exited late in the game versus Duke in Week 6 with an unspecified injury. If the sophomore quarterback is unable to gain medical clearance to play against Virginia on Thursday, Zach Gibson would likely be next in line under center for Georgia Tech.
Oct 10, 2022
Throws two touchdowns Saturday
Sims passed for 227 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 23-20 win over Duke.
ANALYSIS
Sims completed a season high 67.6 percent of his passes on the way to Saturday's victory. The quarterback connected with Leo Blackburn on a 35-yard back-shoulder throw to the end zone to take a 17-3 lead early in the third quarter. Sims' 227 passing yards mark his second highest of the season and his second time passing for over 200 yards. Sims has 176 rushing yards over the last two games.
Oct 2, 2022
Runs in score on way to beat Pitt
Sims passed for 102 yard and one touchdown to go along with 81 rushing yards and one touchdown in Saturday's 26-21 victory over Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Sims ran in a 18-yard touchdown to all but seal the game with less than two minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The quarterback continued to struggle in the passing game, completing less than half of his passing attempts and barely getting over 100 yards passing (102). Sims was the second leading rusher on the team behind Hassan Hall (157).
Sep 25, 2022
Throws for 314 yards Saturday
Sims completed 21 passes for 314 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's 27-10 loss to UCF.

Aug 26, 2022
New coach brings optimism
Georgia Tech hopes that new quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke can help Sims reach his full potential during the 2022 campaign, Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been a solid dual-threat quarterback in each of his first two seasons as Georgia Tech's signal caller, but there's certainly been room for improvement, which the team hopes new quarterbacks coach Weinke can help with. The Yellow Jackets dismissed offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Dave Patenaude this offseason and hope a new vibe can unlock Sims' potential. Sims has enjoyed his new coach and thinks the connection will benefit himself and the team this year. "He's a great dude," Sims said. "The thing about him, his biggest thing when he first got here was to build a relationship with us before he started coaching us hard. He's definitely a great coach."
Nov 27, 2021
Healthy and ready to go
Sims is available to play Saturday against Georgia, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS

Nov 20, 2021
Not starting against ND
Sims (undisclosed) is not starting Saturday against Notre Dame, according to Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com.
ANALYSIS
The absence of Sims, who didn't play against Boston College last week, means Yates will be under center for Saturday's matchup. It remains to be seen if Sims will be available for the rest of the regular season.
Nov 13, 2021
Not expected to start
Sims (undisclosed) is not expected to start Saturday against Boston College, according to Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
ANALYSIS
Offensive coordinator Dave Patenaude suggested that Sims was not at full health in the team's loss to Miami on Saturday, so that could be the main reason behind the change under center. Sims completed 21 of his 38 passes against Miami last week, tossing one score and one pick while racking up 194 yards.
Nov 8, 2021
Worst rushing day of the season
Sims completed 21-of-38 passes for 194 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Sims had 11 carries for -8 yards in Saturday's 33-30 loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
Sims had his worst game on the season as he had his first start in which he was not able to put up 200 total yards of offense. Sims also had his worst rushing performance on the year as he wasn't able to pick up positive yard on the ground for the first time this year.
Oct 31, 2021
Two touchdowns in loss
Sims completed 15-of-26 passes for 183 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Sims added 11 carries for 60 yards in Saturday's 26-17 loss to Virginia Tech.
ANALYSIS
Sims had his worst day on the year since taking over at quarterback in week four. Sims accumulated less than 300 total yards and less than 200 yards passing for the first time as a starter this year. Sims will look to bounce back next week against Miami.
Oct 24, 2021
Three touchdowns in loss
Sims completed 27-of-44 passes for 300 yards three touchdowns and one interception. Sims added 10 carries for 65 yards in Saturday's 48-40 loss to Virginia.
ANALYSIS
Sims has continued to put up big numbers since taking over at quarterback week four against North Carolina. Sims will have a tougher test next week against a strong Virginia Tech defense coming off a bad performance.
Oct 3, 2021
Slow start in romp
Sims completed 24-of-33 passes for 359 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Sims also added 10 carries for 38 yards in Saturday's 52-21 loss to Pitt.
ANALYSIS
Sims got his first start of the season after taking over for Jordan Yates midway through the first half last week against North Carolina. Sims got off to a rocky start Saturday as he started off the first two drives with an interception and a pick six. Sims settled down and completed a 44-yard touchdown pass on the Yellow Jackets third drive of the game but, it wouldn't be enough to spark Georgia Tech as they finished the half down 42-14.
Sep 26, 2021
Big game in win over North Carolina
Sims completed 10-of-13 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Sims also carried the ball 10 times for 128 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 45-22 win over North Carolina.
ANALYSIS
After injuring his left arm in the season opener against Northern Illinois, Sims has been sitting behind Jordan Yates. With 3:23 remaining in the second quarter and little production in the redzone to this point, the Yellow Jackets pulled Yates to give way to Sims. Sims ran for an 11-yard touchdown and never looked back from there. The freshman quarterback was doing it all on Saturday as he surpassed 100 yards both passing and rushing and accounted for four touchdowns on the day. Not only was Sims impressive on the ground, running for 12.8 yards per carry at the helm of Georgia Tech's option offense but he was also extremely efficient passing the ball as he completed 76.9 percent of his passes.
Sep 25, 2021
Will be backup Saturday
Sims will be the backup of Jordan Yates against North Carolina on Saturday, according to Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
ANALYSIS
Yates will make a third consecutive start, which means Sims will once again be the backup. It seems his arm is not completely recovered to play under center following the injury sustained in the season opener against Northern Illinois, where he went 3-for-8 for 21 yards.
Sep 17, 2021
Available as backup
Sims (arm) is not expected to start in Saturday's game against Clemson but will be availabe off the bench, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims injured his arm in Georgia Tech's season opener against Northern Illinois and subsequently sat out last week's victory over Kennesaw State. His arm is apparently not healthy enough to return under center this week, but he is good enough to play in case of an emergency. Jordan Yates will again get the nod at quarterback in his place.
Sep 17, 2021
Listed atop depth chart
Sims (arm) is listed as the team's starting quarterback for Saturday's game against Clemson, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims exited the season opener with an arm injury and did not play last week despite being available as an emergency option. It appears the sophomore quarterback is in line to return to his starting role, although his warmup before the game will likely be the final indicator if whether he'll be good to go or not.
Sep 11, 2021
Only emergency option
Sims (arm) is only available in an emergency situation Saturday versus Kennesaw State, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims was dealing with an injury all week but warmed up with the second-team offense. It appears he's still well less than 100 percent, which may have played into the decision to start Jordan Yates on Saturday. Depending on how things go for Yates, it's questionable who will get the start in future weeks.
Sep 11, 2021
Warming as backup
Sims (arm) is working with the second-string offense ahead of Saturday's game versus Kennesaw State, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims completed just three of the eight passes he attempted last week and also suffered an arm injury. Jordan Yates stepped in and played well, leading to his start in Saturday's game. It's unclear if health was any factor in the decision, but Sims' participation in warmups would seem to suggest he should be available off the bench if needed.
Sep 10, 2021
Not starting Saturday
Sims (arm) will not be under center for Saturday's matchup with Kennesaw Sate, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims was not very effective in last week's season opener due to an arm injury. He was subsequently replaced by Jordan Yates. While the team was optimistic Sims would be good to go earlier in the week, it looks like the team will err on the side of caution and go with Yates. It is unclear whether Sims has officially been ruled out or not.
Sep 7, 2021
On track to play Saturday
Sims (arm) is expected to play Saturday against Kennesaw State, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims was removed from Saturday's season opener against Northern Illinois with a left arm injury and had his arm in a sling during the second half, but the injury apparently won't force him to miss additional time.
Sep 4, 2021
Exits with arm injury
Sims exited Saturday's game against Northern Illinois with an apparent left arm injury, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims completed three of eight passes for 21 yards while rushing six times for 34 yards to begin Saturday's game, but he was seen with his left arm in a sling to begin the second half. It's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return against Kennesaw State next week.
Jun 16, 2021
Ready to go for 2021
Sims (undisclosed) participated in Georgia Tech's spring game in April, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims had to leave the field late in Georgia Tech's last game of the season with an undisclosed injury, but the quarterback appears healthy entering his sophomore year. The leading rusher and passer in 2020, Sims will look to improve upon his 13:13 TD:INT ratio next season.
Dec 10, 2020
Exits with injury Thursday
Sims needed to be helped off the field after suffering an unspecified injury late in Thursday's game against Pittsburgh, Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The details of the injury are not yet clear, but given that he needed to be helped off late in the contest, Sims seems unlikely to return Thursday. The freshman completed 17 of 31 pass attempts for 238 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions before exiting.
Dec 6, 2020
Touchdown rush against 'Pack
Sims completed 13-of-27 passes for 151 yards Saturday at North Carolina State, adding 93 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
ANALYSIS
The rushing attempts were an early career-high for the freshman, who's now called his number at least 12 times in five straight games. He's failed to throw a touchdown pass in two of his last three however, which gives him a low floor on a short turnaround against a talented defensive front in Pittsburgh up Thursday night.
Nov 29, 2020
3 TD passes against Blue Devils
Sims completed 13-of-23 passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns Saturday against Duke, adding a career-high 108 yards rushing on 12 carries.
ANALYSIS
Sims had multiple touchdown passes in just to games entering the Saturday, topping 50 yards rushing just three times. He's completed 20 passes just once, and while there's clearly potential in Sims, there's obviously still some work to be done. The Jackets hadn't played in four weeks, and now have exploitable matchups against North Carolina State, Pitt and Miami remaining, positioning Sims for a potential late-season surge.
Oct 18, 2020
Just six completions vs. Clemson
Sims completed 6-of-13 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown Saturday against Clemson, throwing one interception.
ANALYSIS
Sims ran 13 times for minus-23 yards, thanks in part to five sacks. The Jackets were simply overwhelmed in every facet of the game here, but that doesn't dampen Sims' outlook, both for the rest of the year and beyond. He'll look to rebound next week against Boston College.
Oct 10, 2020
Three touchdowns against Cardinals
Sims completed 11-of-21 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns Friday against Louisville, adding 64 yards and a score on seven rushes.
ANALYSIS
Perhaps more importantly, Sims didn't throw an interception for the first time in his career. That may be more a testament to the Cards porous defense, but still suggest progress. A dynamic threat just scratching his surface, Sims has challenging game with Clemson and Notre Dame on the horizon.
Sep 26, 2020
Four INTs in first road start
Sims completed 13-of-28 passes for 174 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions Saturday at Syracuse, adding 41 yards and a score on eight rushes.
ANALYSIS
Sims clearly didn't fair well away from Bobby Dodd Stadium. He was reluctant to run after going 29 times in his first two starts, and the mistakes continued to pile up, now sitting at eight INTs through three weeks. A targetable Louisville defense is up next on October 9, but then the schedule gets brutal, with Clemson, Boston College, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. The future is bright, but Sims will need to grow immensely in short order if he's going to find success through October.

Two scores versus UCF
Sims completed 18-of-36 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown, adding 16 rushes for 82 yards and a score Saturday against UCF.
ANALYSIS
Sims showed the good and the bad here, as he was picked off twice and fumbled once. He's been a clear upgrade for the Jackets and looks to have a world of potential, though owners are going to have to live through freshman mistakes. A sneaky Syracuse defense awaits next, before a favorable spot against Louisville comes calling in Week 4.

Named starting quarterback
Sims will serve as the starting quarterback for Georgia Tech during the season opener, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will be the Yellow Jackets' first freshman to start under center since 2003 after he won a four-player competition during camp. Given the number of candidates at quarterback for Georgia Tech, it's unclear whether Sims will retain the position throughout the season.
