Out for 2023 season
Whittington (foot) is expected to sit out Oregon's 2023 season, Zachary Neel of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Unfortunately for Whittington and Oregon, the worst-case scenario has happened from his foot injury. He will finish 2023 with 20 carries and 10 receptions for 230 all-purpose yards (146 rushing and 84 receiving) and two touchdowns across his three games.

Set to miss multiple weeks
Head coach Dan Lanning told reporters after Saturday's win over Colorado that Whittington (foot) will be "down for a little bit," James Crepea of The Oregonian reports.
ANALYSIS
Whittington was carted back to the locker room with what appeared to be a left foot injury, though Lanning did not specify the injury. Whittington doesn't seem to have any sort of firm timeline for a return. With a bye looming in Week 6, a return Oct. 14 against Washington wouldn't be out of the question for Whittington based on Lanning's initial comments.

Carted back to locker room
Whittington was carted back to the locker room in the third quarter of Saturday's game against Colorado, Zachary Neal of Ducks Wire reports.
ANALYSIS
Whittington appeared to suffer a left foot injury and was unable to put any weight on his leg when making his way off the field. The injury at first sight doesn't appear favorable; however, more details will likely come about in the next few days. Whittington finished with eight carries for 45 yards and a touchdown before exiting.

Top yardage in backfield
Whittington tallied five carries for 80 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 55-10 win against Hawaii.
ANALYSIS
Bucky Irving led the team in carries, but the team's presumptive lead back faded down the stretch, making room for backups in the blowout. Whittington enjoyed extra opportunity as a result and logged one of Oregon's many touchdowns. Irving is the go-to guy, but he's not an every-down back in this offense. Jordan James is the more likely change-of-pace player, and Whittington will only have totals like this against weak opponents.

Steady in return to action
Whittington (undisclosed) tallied seven carries for 21 yards and caught all six targets for 60 yards during Saturday's 38-30 victory against Texas Tech.
ANALYSIS
The reason for Whttington's absence from Oregon's first game is still a mystery, but he showed up today and immediately made an impact. Whittington is a very different kind of back compared to Irving. At only 5 8, he's a shifty speedster who will make you miss, while Irving is more of a north-south runner who finds daylight between the tackles. Judging from the results of this close game, Whittington will be carving a decent role for himself again this season.

Dresssed and warming
Whittington (undisclosed) is dressed and warming up ahead of Saturday's game versus Texas Tech, Jared Mack of 247Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Whittington was unexpectedly withheld from the action in the opener with little explanation offered following the contest as to why. The junior back figures to see some looks in the backfield, if good to go as expected, alongside Bucky Irving and Jordan James.

Practices Tuesday
Whittington (undisclosed) participated in practice Tuesday, James Crepea of The Oregonian reports.
ANALYSIS
Whittington, who sat out during Oregon's season opener due to undisclosed reasons, was a participant during Tuesday's practice. The 5-foot-8 junior will form a formidable one-two punch with Bucky Irving when he is able to return, but he will remain questionable ahead of Saturday's game against Texas Tech.

Sits out opener
Head coach Dan Lanning was unwilling to expand on why Whittington didn't play in the opener other than saying, "We are going to be smart with our players," Matt Prehm of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Whittington is coming off 139 carries for the Ducks in 2022, so his absence from the action Saturday presumably relates to an issue of some kind. More information on his status could surface in the coming week, but it's best to consider him questionable for Week 2 versus Texas Tech until then.

63 yqrds of total offense in win
Whittington notched 10 carries for 53 yards and gathered in 2 of 3 targets for 10 yards during Saturday's 20-17 win against Utah.
ANALYSIS
Whittington split the rushing duties with Mar'Keise Irving once again, and the split isn't doing wonders for their fantasy value. Oregon is a pass-first offense and the timeshare only dilutes what would normally be moderate production in a single-back system.
Oct 30, 2022
Diverse stat line in win
Whittington had 10 carries for 66 yards and caught all five targets for 67 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 42-24 win versus California.
ANALYSIS
Although Mar'Kiese Irving has led the rushing attack over the past few weeks, Whittington was the most productive back against Cal, although both backs had ten carries each. Irving should remain consistent, as Whittington's participation carries a bit more risk fantasy-wise.

Excels in complementary role
Whittington totaled 12 carries for 73 yards during Saturday's 45-30 victory against UCLA.
ANALYSIS
Byron Cardwell's (lower body) absence has paved the way for running backs like Whittington ,who was way down on the depth chart at the beginning of the season. He's now firming up his role as a change-of-pace back. The sophomore has 408 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

Logs best yardage total of season
Whittington rushed six times for 92 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 49-22 win over Arizona. He also caught one pass for six yards.
ANALYSIS
The Western Kentucky transfer has provided steady output throughout the season, but he led the rushing attack this time around. The disappearance of Byron Cardwell has opened up opportunities for other call carriers, and while Bucky Irving appears to reap the most benefit, Whittington does a lot with what he's given. He's also a favorite of running backs coach Carlos Locklyn, who had a hand in bringing him to Oregon after recruiting him for Western Kentucky.

Breaks off big run in bowl
Whittington rushed seven times for 150 yards and a touchdown versus Appalachian State on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Whittington had an 85-yard touchdown in this game, which was more yards than he had rushing in a single game this year. If the Hilltoppers remain as pass-happy in 2022, Whittingon likely won't be involved all that much.
Nov 6, 2021
Totals 87 yards
Whittington rushed 17 times for 67 yards and had two catches for 20 yards against MTSU on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The Hilltoppers throw the ball a ton, but not to their backs. Whittington has all of seven catches this season. However, he does have double-digit touches in each of his last two games and has been over 60 yards rushing both times.
Oct 30, 2021
Rushes for TD
Whittington rushed 10 times for 66 yards and a touchdown against Charlotte on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
This is Whittington's first game with double-digit touches, and also his first touchdown of the season.
Sep 11, 2021
Rushes for 33 yards
Whittington rushed eight times for 33 yards against Army on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
This is a bit of a surprise. Whittington entered this season at the bottom of the running back depth chart, but in this game he got eight of the 11 carries that went to backs. Frankly, WKU is all about the passing game. The run game is going to be an afterthought this year.
